They have to make the tPvP rewards something very unique. So that the player are forced to play tPvP and build groups. Not to play only solo Q. Before solo Q was created I asked some people to build a group and it worked fine. Now with solo Q it is very hard to build a random group.

Acidic elixirs are fine? I mean this trait is useless in my point of view. The damage is more or less ~150 even with might stacks. Our elixirs are our access to special buffs, so we do not throw elixirs at our opponents. If you do, you remove a random buff and make 150 damage. This is never worth the >30sec cooldown. This trait does not work with elixir gun.

Autodefense bomb dispenser
for a 30 point trait not useful. It is useless against mesmer and ele. The effect is something like Cloaking Device but too expensive

Does someone use this?

If you have to nerf our vigor (btw a ranger/thief are able to evade 3 times as much as we do in the same time) merge the traits to one trait.

Tools VI – Speedy Kits. Increased Swiftness duration to 10s. This effect can now only trigger once every 10 seconds.

should give 10 swftness and 5sec of vigor at the same time. So we do not have to spend 20points for something like this.

We have a hard time to 1on1 any class. With this nerfs it does not get better.

Are you mad? Engineer is among the best classes for dueling at the moment (not that the game is balanced around this anyway).

I am not mad. Watching Ostricheggs channel from yesterday (tpvp Video) he had a hard time against thiefs. No chance agaist Mesmer. Necro and warrior at at the moment over the top and spirit ranger are also hard. Ostricheggs plays ten times better then me. So I guess 1on1 is not very easy for us. Or could you post me a link to a spvp 1on1 build

I wrote this on main discussion, but will make a little statement here too.

IP is super powerful, but mostly because there isn’t any useful minor traits in this line. 5% damage when endurance is not full? You’ll get only laugh.

As a mostly pve player (been playing pvp for few months, but now waiting for reward rework) I don’t see huge reason to take engi to dungeons. I know they can do moderate damage, but warriors still can do much more and give additional buffs with banners. I take my phantasm berserker mesmer with projectile reflection on focus and feedback and it can be useful, together with boon guardian and 3 warriors.

Engi is only useful in hgh for quick condi cleanse and range combat (especially on new TA route), but on many other dungeons they are useless. Same with necro and ranger – they’re quite useless outside of fractals, where you’ve got plenty of thrash mobs. Whole defiant thing stops many condi support builds. It’s better to have boons, because they will always work. Support condi won’t. End of topic.

More nerfs to dps of less played classes will only make them more useless in pve, and create “hate” for these class users.

Make heavy nerf to warrior and mesmer dps and lower hp pool of pve bosses, it’ll make problems with pve balance almost non-existent.

Same problem in sPvP or tPvP. Engi is able to create good damage, but even if you go HGH and drop your survivability you are not able to outdamage other classes.

For AE condi damage we are now No 2 after Necro and for single target condi damage we are no 3 after necro and ranger.
Direct damage we are no 4 or 5 (after Thief, Ele, Mesmer and Warrior).

We have a hard time to 1on1 any class. With this nerfs it does not get better.

Warriors are pretty strong right now, but will be seeing changes in an upcoming patch.

We like how they can be tanky, and we like how they can do DPS if they want. We also like the CC they can bring. We just don’t like them doing it all with 1 build.

And Necros? They’re the reason for the Warriors’ absurd condition resistance right now, aren’t they? They’re as much an imbalance in this meta as Warriors are.

Just as a single Warrior build should not have access to chain stun, high damage, and great tanking ability, no single Necro build should have access to chain fear, high condition damage, and great tanking ability. They’re in the same boat.

I can’t understand that the warrior guys cry about incoming nerfs. I play Engineer and we got 4 nerfs in a row and we still here. I am sure Anet will not nerf them to the ground.

But we should get some changes to our other condition removal stuff as an exchange.

For example that Heal turret convert 2 conditions into boons and not just remove it and med kit remove all condtions not just one (At the moment med kit is a joke). Maybe the Elixir H removes also 2 condtions if the trait is taken and gives protection and not the random stuff.
Elixir C toss is a stun breaker. Because without this trait we have a very hard time 1on1 vs necro or a condition ranger at the moment.

Engineer has more or less the worst condition removal in the complete game. The possibilities are very limited for us to remove conditions and we can only remove one or 2 condtions at one time.
Without this trait we die in seconds against condition.

I am not sure, I made a screenshot of this game, but you see on the screenshot an engineer with 1.2k heals and bleed stack of two. It does not prove anything.
So I asked in this thread if someone noticed it as well.

Is something changed with the new patch? Y esterday I g ot from a ranger 2 stacks of bleeding while I was at 1.2k Health (have 25k hp normally so I was under 25% and got new stacks of bleeding) .

stop trying to defend an op class. it does need a tone down.or maybe u would like al other classes brought up to your level then and then we see u all crying again.

Hate this map. Hand 5 games yesterday. 3 times skyhammer. Played once against 2 guardians + 3 Warrior. Great fun as an Engineer without access to stability (yes I know we have now the super 5s stability on toss elixir).

But you could stay at ft all the time and you are immune to CC. Stability is the most important boon. They cannot give it for free.

I play sPvP only. I am an average player playing mostly in soloQ or in random groups tPvP against average player. I play the Ostricheggs HGH condi build and it worked very well in the last months. Even after the nerfs.

But now (since last patch) I have a problem, that I am not able to kill different classes in 1on1 situations. I am still able to help my team in team fights. But if I have a 1on1 situation I am useless.

I lose against a warrior because I am not high skilled and I am not able to dodge every single stun. 1 stunbreaker and 2 dodges are my problems. My damage is ok, and I win if I manage to dodge well. But most of the time the fight takes so long, that I am not able to dodge every time. So I guess I lose 7 of 10 fights

I lose against a necro because I eat chainfear and corrupt boons I am naked and dead. If I start the fight I have a chance to win. I guess I also lose 8 of 10 games.

I lose to a thief because they steal my might stack and are able to avoid damage and clean condis very well. I lose 6 or 7 out of 10 games.

I lose to a ranger, because they have much more burning, the zoo makes it impossible to hit them with the pistol and the survive too long so I die. I lose maybe 8 of 10 1on1 games.

Ele is ok. If I manage to dodge the burst I am ahead. I win 6 of 10 because I am not always able to dodge well.

Mesmer are also ok. I am too stupid to dodge the shatter, but I am lucky I mostly win. let’s say 7 of 10.

I win against a bunker guardian. But it takes so long, that it is fine for him. He does not try to win. So I win 9 of 10 but most of the time the guardian gets help and I die or I get help and he dies. Dps Guardians are not very common and if I see one, I mostly win.

Engineers. I do not fight them because they are like brothers and sisters (just kidding). So many different and useless builds at the moment. Hard to say. Most of the time I win I guess.

So my question is. Do you have a good soloQ build and are you able to win against necro/warrior or ranger at least 5 of 10 games?

At the moment I see only the possibility to go for the node defender/attacker build:

I like the buffs for the engi. But we do not get a I-win button or something. 4sec of stablity or better bombs will not make us essential or overpowered

Well I am new to posting builds, but I have been messing around with a few. Now before people laugh at my idea I would like them to take a look at it and try it for themselves. It is currently a static discharge high bleed build with enough blast finishers to keep you alive if used correctly. At the moment this build suffers from being focused of course and very low mobility still working on it, but the rate that you can apply bleeds with static discharge and the combination of grenades and pistol skills is insane. I honestly cant imagine turrets ever being considered op (viable at best), it would take some drastic changes to get them that far.

I can already win most of my fights even against infi-stun warriors with a well placed turret at my back. I feel it’s kinda OP now but obviously when loads of people start rocking it, it will become “because everyone is playing it, it’s OP!!” kinda like how people said HGH was OP for a while.

How does a turret helps you against a stun and a warrior with access to stability?

Do you use fire turret and overcharge it?

As HGH and my point of view. > means win 6 or 7 out of 10. >> means 8-10 wins out of ten, = equal

HGH engi >> guardian (but takes time)
HGH engi > Mesmer
HGH engi > Ele
HGH engi = warrior (depends how good I dodge)
HGH engi << Spirit ranger
HGH engi > trap Ranger
HGH engi << Thief
HGH engi << Necro

HGH is still good in team fights.

Teldos far point assult build works better but takes more time to kill something.

But this build also lose against necro and spirit ranger. Is better against thief.

Until yesterday Spirit ranger, Necro and Warrior were the most popular classes because of the balance situation. It was nearly impossible to win a 1on1 against a good spirit ranger with any class but warrior/necro. It is very hard to win a 1on1 against a necro and the warrior is also very strong. So thiefs are not very common but they are still strong. They kill Mesmer/Ele/Engis without problems, but they lose to necro and ranger.

Power works better against necro, specially if you have many knockbacks (rifle + bomb). But at the moment a necro is a hard matchup for every class.

HGH has been nerfed 3 times. Now it is still ok, but not so powerful. As HGH your are hard counted by thiefs. They are able to steal your boons and if you have 25 stacks of might they steal it from you and kill your and your team in no time. It is impossible to kill a good thief with HGH.

At the moment our role in sPVP is to push far and decap points. So FT or bombs (or both) are more or less needed.

Some people playing HGH or SD builds. But other professions are better for dealing damage.

….The mesmer and ele dps is way too high. Once you remove the sword thief (ele/mesmer cant win this) and necro/ranger dominance then you will have another broken and lame meta where mesmer and ele damage is way too high for all the extra things they can provide….

@Devs I highlighted the part that I feel you need to reconsider….you mentioned ele and mesmer are in a good spot once we tone down the condi damage which counters them so, however from our experience as a PvP Playerbase we know that the moment condi damage is reduced and the specs that counter these 2 professions get toned down these 2 professions of Mesmer and Ele will become the new brokenly OP profession in the meta because of their burst capabilities.

With all due respect, if you do intend to JUST nerf condi damage etc please be ready and I sincerely mean this, be ready to roll out quick fixes of tiny changes to mesmer and ele prior to the sept 17th patch, simple tweaks like this need to happen frequently in large disparity meta games. To give an example with the Elementalist. When specs that counter them get toned down they are now in a position to run their usual fresh air s/d or s/f burst builds, the issue with said burst setup majority of it is off the global cooldown so chainable quite quickly together, and above that the cooldown for fresh air and similar burst capabilities is quite low which I don’t have a problem with but its burst damage is too high for its low cooldown and off the global cooldown capabilities.

I hope you take this advice under consideration and if you don’t I would sincerely appreciate perhaps chatting to us on SOTG why you feel ele and mesmer’s burst isn’t too much given the apparent condi nerfs etc. Thank you for your time.

Wait til you see the update! You may be making it out in your mind to be more drastic than it really is.

Please also look at the engineer. Some month ago all groups needed one. Now no engi is welcome (except teldo but he mentioned that the engineer is dying).

In sPVP: At the moment Engineer with pistol/shield bombs/FT is able to decap very fast. This is our role at the moment.

I play this build in sPvP. It is ok, but in the current meta it is too weak. Thiefs steal you buffs and kill you. Spirit ranger kills you, stunwarrior is a hard matchup for HGH engi and necro also kills you. You are good in team fights, but at the moment the HGH engi is too weak to help his team (no knockbacks, no utility for the group, not the best condi damage, not the best direct damage).
