engies have and will always be the most op class for pvp, they have more sustain than warriors(turret spam on cd + toolbelt skill with blast finisher is 100 more hps than heal sig), take less damage than wars(more armor because rabid ammy and high prot uptime), can go invis, have a longer invuln than warriors, have a stronger version of dhuumfire, and have so many spammable condi spells.
I have to say that Engineers have always been the most OP profession for PvP until the massive power creep of June-July 2013. More Engineers are mastering the profession and realizing all there is to offer.
However, the tables really turned during the June-July 2013 legendary power creep. Rangers, Warriors, and Necros were pretty much overhauled.
Don’t forget that the meta Engineer builds can remove 6-8 conditions in a minute, whereas a warrior can remove about 30-40 when utilizing Lyssa and or Signet of Stamina under condi-burst conditions, and nullify all incoming conditions for 8 seconds.
Engies are much more counterable than Warriors are, right now. There’s not really much a soldier’s amulet hambow Warrior has to worry about.
Engies have the worst condition removal in the game – perhaps on par with Mesmers. Engineers still rely on kite-or-die strategies. There are definitely things you can do to shut down an Engineer.

Condition immunityThe guard hammer has 1s animation, it was useful before the launch-stunbreak update. Its nowhere near as efective:
-decaps slower, if at all
-it can be killed 1v1 , but 2v1 it dies “fast enough”

With scepter+schield you can pushback+ immob very easy. Hammer prevent reenter the point = decap. Launch is slow but still usefull. Rest could be like for Bunker build and this means you are harder to kill as the engi

You can kill this engi with a glass cannon build very easy. Much faster as a guardian.
For sure not in 5sec. But this is a bunker build and it means it should not be killed very fast.

You should go for toolkit if you like to hold a point. This build is not good as a bunker because you die in focus damage very fast. You are killable in 1vs1. It is much weaker as the guardian builds are.
This build is only for decapping and it is like an old movie. In the end you die. You do not win a 1vs1 with this build you only survive and decap (or maybe fullcap) a point.

You are hard to kill by direct damage because of protection + armor + evades.
You have AP against condtions.
With rifle #4, FT #3 and Big Bomb you can decap even against 2 people.
with regenration + bombing all the time + trait + EG #5 >5xx hp per sec
It maybe works in wvw. But is this the best choice? If you run alone and someone with a good 1on1 build hits you. You will lose.
HGH is nice if you suprise people but you could also go for a SD build

when you run HGH conditions you get over 3k condition damage with the right build, i might not be able to take IP but fire bomb and blow torch will do enough especially when my burning hits over 1k a tick just add in some bleeds and poisen and thats all the damage you need, as for HGH power you should literally be a thief’s nightmare at least i feel like i am when ever i fight a thief with power HGH, then again it really does come down to your build.
also i dont do teamQ or soloQ very often but when i do i use HGH zerker nader.
I played HGH build like Ostricheggs did. I play sPvP only. In sPvP Engineers are in team fights most of the time target #1. Your damage is even after all the nerfs fine. But your defense is bad. With HGH builds you have no extra dodge and no block. You have stablity and stealth for 5 sec. + blind. That’s is.
Sword/dagger thiefs with the trait that steals 2 boons and wins 8 of 10 fights against you. Other classes and because of the current meta have good condition removal. So you do not kill your opponent in 10sec. All this makes HGH less good as before in sPvP.
It is not bad, but not very good at the moment. If I look at the streams of the top player. Not one engi is running HGH at the moment. Ostricheggs, Teldo, Five Gauge all running different builds.

Must be same feeling like beeing chain feared form 100 to 0 by only one necro.
I haven’t been chain feared from 100 to 0 since they nerfed dhumfire and bleeds and stopped walking int othe spectral wall all the time(altho the guardian wall still function like i’m a moth and it’s a lamp)
I play a condi engineer and some necros send the condis back to me. Fear me and gg. If they feel funny they corrupt my boons for much more fun.
And it is sooo hard not to walk into the spectral wall while beeing feared into the spectral wall direction :/

Also, try run a stun break or some condi cleanse – BOTH WORK!
My conditions dont work for 8-10 seconds, so your situation is a whole lot better.
My condi cleanse is not useable during fear, maybe yours do not know. Mine is not working like all skills but stun break.
And maybe I am really bad but you can also use stun break and teleport yourself away from your warrior friends.

Replace AR with Elixir C with a 30sec timer. So we convert all conditions to buffs and are killable again.
Chat is usless. Ping the map for help. Works very often. I always look and try to help if someone ping the map.

Some changes like the bug fix for spirit healing or the attackspeed for pin down should come with this patch. It is not changing the world if you bring same small changes. Also you could bring small things for Ele so the QQ in this forum stops.

Assuming equal skill on both teams, then mid will be ours half the time and half the time theirs. And say we hold close 80% of the time. They still win on an average by 1/3rd points (again, assuming equal skill) since their close (our far) is never decapped. They get theirs for free.
Holding just close and mid is therefore not a dominant strategy (“dominant” as used in game theoretical terms)
Come on. If you fine at mid. Go decap close if it is for free or you know you win the 1on1 or you play a decap build.
If you lose mid rush far. I am fine with that.
What I mean is sometimes you have a hard time to win mid. Lets say you won a 4vs4 teamfight at mid and often 2 people rush far to decap it after the teamfight and the opponents repop and have easy fights with 5vs2 at far and 4 vs 2 at mid or things like that.
Do not try to decap far if you know you have to fight 1vsX (X>1)

I guess you die in seconds against someone who apply conditions on you. You have no extra evades, 1 block and 2 condi removal every 15sec-20sec. Direct damage will not kill you for sure, but conditions eat you alive

He was able to decap but the other team know how to counter that engi. I guess it is more a lear to play issue

yes sure spamming. You see a big circle every time and you have space and time to avoid damage. If he hits you with a bomb than this is not the end of the world but you can evade run away most of the bombs (you can also push him back, root him and so he is not able to hit you with a bomb). If you are fighting against a warrior on the point you are burning the complete time because you can not evade or run away. It covers the complete point for 9 sec.
Please do not compare IP with Dhuumfire only. Compare Necro Torment vs Engis Torment and necros Terror with Engis fear and terror.
Balance is not so bad. I played Daoc for many years and the balance was never close to GW2. We are 5-6% away from real good balance. I like the ready up ideas.

Seven other classes? Thief, Mesmer and Engineer have stealth. Thief being the most op stealth class. So i’d say five classes. Ranger do however have stealth on a trait but that is 30 cd cooldown and only when you get ccd.
Nerf the stealth so it can’t be on longer than 6 seconds or so. It should be used to trick the enemy and also escape or attack.

The problem is burning on ANY skill.

In the teldo steam was a very nice fight against a MM necro. The necro did not see Teldo coming and run into the wrong direction like a monkey. Still won the fight.
