how would you count torment? its variable damage. and youd have to skip confusion.
and meh @ different colors.. just make the health globe semitransparent, we have other visual indicators for condi types already and dont need to make the game less colorblind friendly.
Torment should be removed from the game. It was a stupid idea to bring this into the game.
I’ve been playing PW since beta. The skill had quite some nerfs related to it.
- Damage reduction
- Haste reduction
- Sigil of paralization (it was broken, now fixed and is 100% useless on this build now)
- Infiltrators return -> Shadow return (most popular nerf)
Some say PW got a buff by removing the aftercast of the first part of the skill. But that was actually broken. So it was a fix. The initiative gain will make PW more spammable, but spamming PW will not be in the thiefs favor. Unless its the last thing he can do in a 1vx to keep him alive.
It might seem like a powerfull attack. But essencially you are being punished by standing in PW. So standing in it for the full duration due to having no stunbreak/no dodge/being immobilized, makes it very powerfull. But even without a stunbreak or dodge, you can walk straight out of it, as the stun duration is minimal.
Players spam PW combined with steal and the teleport signet. But if they spam it like that, will make them even more predictable.
*My advice on killing PW thieves: *
1) If thief pops Basilisc venom:
- Block/dodge if you see the slightest animation.
His first hit in this case will be the worst, as it will probably trigger a critical sigil aswell.2) If you are then struck by the PW stun or inf strike for the first time, (he might have a shadowstep) he will either use shadowstep or inf strike (so no instant PW). Walk out of PW and:
- Stun thief right after PW animation
- Immobilize thief right after PW and walk next to him to make immobilize cancel his next PW
- Dodge (the stun so you can kite all his damage and lock him at his position)
- Block
3) If you get more breathing space at this point, you should:
- Put AoE at your feet
- Move while facing the thief
- Set up a spike or be ready to strike him down
4) If the thief is still on top of you, or on top of you again:
- Kill thief
you know that the thief is using PW+IS+IR so he is immune to damage or out of sight?
If there would be a time window where you could hit the thief after PW = No problem and no OP threads.

Or stray far enough that you can see when an enemy will be approaching. Like the ledge on kyhlo, or the part peeping over the graveyard in foefire, or staying at the “stillness” spawn point in temple.
You need not just sit at close. You can move far away enough, but never so far that another enemy member’s distance to close is less than yours.

I do not play decap engi because I love grenades. They make me so happy. So I do not play bunker because they do not use happy grenades.

The fact that you play mesmer and warrior and cant handle engineers means you have allot of practice to do before you should post on these forums.
Oh and do not play sword mainhand. Play Mace/Sword + Longbow and for maximum effectiveness vs engineers also use the projectile reflection on block trait.

God, you must have a hard time finding either :
1) your F1 key
2) Flesh Wurm key
3) the Spectral Walk keyor even 4) the Spectral Walk return because you planned that the thief would teleport.
Also you are probably glass if you take that much damage while running away, which means you still have over 20k hp. Could be worse, and you deal 4-5k with your #1 Death Shroud so I fail to see how you can complain either way (condi or glass).
Basically, my understanding of your thread is : please make my class more op so I don’t have to get better to fight other strong classes. Funny.

No, no you’re not. The skill lasts 1.5s, the stun lasts 0.5s.
Signet of spite does only work squishies like thief and mesmer who doesn’t have a lot of condi removal, and if they have lyssa still up they get rid of everything.
You don’t get it, stunbreaks don’t really help that much against pistolwhip. So you just used spectralwalk or armor, what the thief does is just run up to you and pistolwhip again, or if you got too far away (f.e flesh wurm) he has has 4 teleports, 3 of them which are instant casts and he can start casting the pistol whip even before the teleport. And if he uses Infiltrator’s Strike as an opener with basi, or even without your stunbreak doesn’t do anything. You are still immobilized for 1 second. And does stability help you? No, good thieves (don’t really know if there are any out there anymore, since everyone is just spamming that 3 brainlessly) wait for your stability and then use their steal to take it away.
Try to even hit 1 of those Death Shroud #1’s to that 3 spammer, if the cast time would be instant you might have a chance, but there is simply too many evasion frames. What can slightly help you is that instant fear on death shroud, since you can time it just when the pistol whip ends, or just before the evasion frames start. But you hit 1 fear, what then? If the thief is fast enough, he ports to you before you get the next fear with your staff and you are already stunned.
Even if the stun lasts only 0.5seconds, you will soon enough run out of endurance and stunbreaks, since he can simply cast that 3 100 times in a row if he wants. So you are stunned for the 0.5 seconds and you don’t have endurance, even if you had swiftness you won’t be able to get away from the pistolwhip soon enough, so it will most likely hit for almost the full damage. And that is if you don’t have the immobilize, in which case you will eat the whole pistolwhip.
What the problem with the pistolwhip is the evasion frames and the low initiative cost. They need to reduce the evasion frames and increase the initiative cost. I’m not saying take the whole evasion away, just reduce it. It’s simply ridiculous that the thief has 4 ports, 3 which are instant and 2 doesn’t even need aiming, and he can’t use them even while casting pistolwhip.
It is just so sad that the game is full of these people who simply run the lowest skill required builds just to beat other people in the game. You simply can’t really find a team without a warrior nowadays, which is just a broken class. Usually 2 warriors, sometimes even 3. Then there is spirit ranger, which requires you to only use autoattack on your shortbow and sometimes faceroll on your keyboard so your spirits use their skills. And now the pistolwhippers are beginning to show up. There are already quite a few found in team arena, which really makes me not want to play the game at all with the warriors included. But have you ever been in soloq lately? I did a few matches and it was just full of these thieves. I had one match, where the enemy team had 3 pistolwhip thieves, and our team had 1.
But then again I don’t know why I’m writing this post, since even if the Anet would read it, it would seriously take more than 6 months to fix these little things. I just don’t get what Anet is doing. How long has it been since the last “huge” PvP patch? It was December the 10th, when they introduced the new healing skills and brought a few, mostly useless class changes, and I’m sure they referred that patch being a huge PvP patch. So it has been almost 3 months since the last patch, and we won’t be seeing a new balance patch in at least 2 months (let’s be serious here). And when it comes does it fix anything the community wanted? Doubt it. Ohh how I would want to write about warriors as well, but I just cba.

not so many engis running AR. AR is overrated because of the decap engis. Bomb/nades builds are better without it.
Go for hambow + cleansing ire. You should not have so much problems with engis. They are a hard setup for warrior but Hambow is OP dude. You should not lose all 1vs1s

I would like to know why they do not bring small patches with the living world update. Like the 8% healing reduce for warrior or the bug fix for ranger elite healing.
Why update spvp only 2 or 3 times a year and change complete the meta instead of adjust the meta every 2 weeks a little bit.
We have the meta for additional 3 month. So deal with it.
Hell no! One of my most satisfying wins on Foefire was when my team was down in points sth like 370 to 480 and I ran to decap far to keep us in the game but 2 ppl came to stop me so I hambowed them down and win 2v1, then had 2nd person coming to help me so we take the lord down at 2 seconds left of the game and win.

Counter to decap engi already exists. It is called glass cannon. But people would like to play bunker builds and counter the engi. That’s not possible.

If I see tournaments in twitch no decap engi team wins. If I play by myself soloQ rank ~300 I face a lot of decap engis and they all die in 1on1 situations.
It seems not to be a problem. If JinDaVikk.7291 never lose a 1on1 vs a warrior maybe he would not lose with a different build as well.
I watched sizer2654 twitch stream (thief) and he won 1vs2 against 2 hambows twice in a game. Doesn’t make the normal thief OP. So maybe the decap engi is not OP but some players are

Condition are broken but if a tanky warrior makes 6.4k damge with this bow on a thief this is perfect fine.
It is hard to manage and the benefit is low. Does not work for me.

Just for saying, in the old meta when i was actually enjoyed to play tourns, the most
successful strategy in forest was the following,
1 home, 1 mid, 2 bursting super fast npc and 1 for stealing the enemy npc.
after npc dead 3 were in mid. If you are fast and good the creature is dead, maybe a lucky npc steal or far decap and you are in time to help your bunker at mid.
