ANet says that they care about the causal players. But the decap engi is ruining the game for causal players. The pros and better players know how to handle the decap engi. The causals are frustrated.

Watched the Chaithh steam 5min ago and he is no. 4 NA soloQ and was matched with a rank 1 and rank 10 player in one team. So I guess they have serious problems with the queue.

Maybe they want keep the warrior and thief op because most player (and devs) playing warrior and thief. About the engi they do not care because it is in wvw and pve no Problem

No they should replace the idea of turrets in their heads and create something new. Turrets are not good and in sPvP nobody likes AI fights and buffing turrets means that we have a forrest of turrets fighting for us.

You write that in this forum you only get feedback from skilled players. In my opinion you should take care of this players. You have now the try of legends. Please take the opportunity and talk to the players.

I love sPvP but I have no clue. But I see a lot of high skill streams and the player discuss often the main issues. This kind of players have a better overview about every class as the causal players have. Trust them.

I lost faith in this balance team a long time ago. Every decision they make is wrong.

Why did they redo every runeset and sigil, introduce new sigil rulings and traits, etc if the main problems still remain?

They have wasted a huge amount of time and they didnt fix any of the issues: they keep adding more and more problems to the game.

If they listened to the community:
Decap engi would be nerfed
Warrior would be nerfed
Thief would be nerfed.

With the above mentioned nerfs and the removal of skyhammer the game would be so much better…

I know the balance guys work hard but their priorities are totally wrong. I highly doubt that they ever played pvp at all.

The ignorance in this thread… Are NON decap engis problematic in ANY meta? No? Then why suggest nerfs that have nothing to do with them? Why suggest nerfs to CC or healing or anything else that ISN’T AR?

The problem straight up is AR. Without AR decap engis will not survive as long as they do. AR only really benefits decapping bunker engi builds.

Do we call them “AR Engis”? No, we call them “decap engis”.

Also, AR on any engi that doesn’t have high health won’t get nearly as much benefit as one with high health/toughness. The 25% health limitation scales up with how much health you have. That’s obvious. So any engi that isn’t bunkerish won’t get much use out of AR because they can still get condispiked easily.

So THAT’S why not every build using AR is problematic, only the bunker builds. And that’s why you can’t say it’s all “AR engis” that are problematic". It’s the AR + Bunker engis = aka “decap engis” that are the problem. Got any more ridiculous arguments?

AR ist the only weapon the engi has against other condi classes. You say the engi has no Problem in the meta. The truth is engi has a very bad day against all other condi classes. Without AR a condi necro, warrior, mesmer vor condi engi is very very hard to beat in 1vs1. You should see the complete picture before you nerf engi. I do not like AR. But nerfing it without buffing the condition removal in engi is not a good way

It seems they do not play sPvP enough to see the problems we have every day. They write 5 times a day “thank you for the feedback” but they do not care what we say. They follow they “so called plan”.

It is like very good player (not me) gave feedback. Often something like this: Warrior substain is to good and some skills are OP, decap engi ruins the fun in soloQ and AR is OP, PW is to op because spammable, ele substain is to week against burst damage.

Anet: thank you very much for the feedback but look at the feature patch. We have turrets for the engi and bugfixes for the warrior. We ignore the PW on thief. It will be awesome and comes soon to you…..

It does not help or change the meta. The decap engi will not stop because he can take funny turrets. The warrior will still fire a 9 sec fire field and hambow you to death and the thief will pwpwpwpw every ele until he quits.

Elixir C on 40sec cooldown for a grantmaster trait? Are you kidding me?

I would replace AR with “tool belt ability removes 1 condition” (F1,F2, F3, F4) and move it to master tier. For a normal condition build this means 1 condition removal every ~8 sec.

Once again. We are the worst condi removal class in the complete game. And you ask for removing the last possiblity to have a chance against other condi classes.

Sure the decap engi is bad for soloQ. Sure it should be nerfed. But go and play a condi engi and face a condi necro, a condi mesmer, an other engineer, a condi warrior. You have to play like Ostricheggs on dope to beat condi heavy classes with a normal condi engineer.

I really pray that the devs are cool enough to see the problems of the spvp NON decap engineers.

So if you nerf AR you take the possiblity for engineer to be a bunker.

before the decap engi was born a hambow warrior pushed far over and over. The warrior was able to kill every other class in 1on1 or decap it. A warrior or even a bunker warrior is able to survive a 1vs2 or 1vs3 for a long time. The only problem was that a warrior vs warrior setup was hard for him. After every player rolled a warrior the decap engi was born.

To solve the AR problem you have to recreate the engi condition removal . Engi is the worst condi removal class in the game. If you take AR or nerf it hard. All defensiv builds are gone because we die to every condi build in the game.

Good damage, good mobility, good substain, very good condi clear, immue to damage for a long time, immune to condi for a long time, stablity more often as a guardian, 15 stacks of might because everything is a blast finishre, AE CC, biggest firefield in the game, best heal, OP skills like pin shot, great condis, max HP

These decisions, while being great to get new players in without overwhelming them, should have no significant impact on committed players.

If it does then there’s a problem. Still very excited to hear about the new content, it’ll make my train journey tonight go much faster….

If they do not like to overwhelming new player they would create templates and not lock new traits.

Also, this system is designed for horizontal progression. Unlocking traits, or what have you, won’t (at least shouldn’t, barring any balance issues) make you more powerful, they simply give you a wider range of builds and allow you to better tune your character to your play style. Many, many successful games ease players into options, and, in my opinion, trait unlocking isn’t any different.

I understand some of you are worried that we’re just adding stuff and ignoring existing problems. I can assure you, as I sit within earshot of the Skills and Combat team, that they are very aware of this and have no plans to ignore existing issues.

Easing the players into options

Many successful games ease players into option because they did it right.

Every profession have 60 traits in their disposal. Having all 60 traits all at once is very confusing by itself. If you want to truly ease newer players, you want to make 50 of these traits be unlockable. Unlocking Healing skills didn’t make me feel at ease with options.

Or, we can go to another route. A better route that won’t hurt sPvP in any way. In the game(not in the forums), the team can create a list of easy to play meta builds for newer players to choose from and give a detailed explanation on how to play it. That is how I learned and got into sPvP.

But let say that the team is too stubborn to change their mind on the backwards unlockable system. If it must be done, then make unlockables account bound. I will settle just for that.

I play with alts and I don’t want to unlock for my Charr warrior and then for my Norn warrior. I would like to unlock with my Charr warrior and then my Norn warrior will get automatically in sPvP.

Horizontal progression

There was a great horizontal progression. It is called gears. I wanted to collect all the gear out there, but they were easy to get. But, After the team added Dungeon/cultural gear. I aimed to get all the dungeon and cultural gear. I felt the progression was right until glory was removed and these gear didn’t affect sPvP gameplay one bit.

I watched a sPvP game on twitch. I saw a nice build on a char I never played before. I want to log in, create a char go to sPvP and have some fun. This was always possible.
With the new system I have to go to PvE first and level my char until I get the traits?
I want to delete a char and create a new one just because I like the face or the name of my new char more.

Again, this system is forward looking. If we just unlocked the 40 new traits now, what about next time? It will always just be X more. We have to draw a line somewhere, and here is probably the best place to start.

You should maybe play your own game from a player point of view. If you are in the mists for the very first time. You try to find a build and you want take a trait but you can’t. You feel limited and in a bad position.

The Mists are a place to have fun. It is a place for fair pvp no matter how long you play this game. It was unique and great. But with your system this is over. If someone outplay me and I have the feeling that I need the new trait to counter him, I do not want to go to PvE and play XX hours to have the trait. I am frustrated and quit.

I played now more than 500 team Q games and more than 600 solo Q games and I still can’t use the new healing ability and I never will see the new traits :/

many of us do not leave the mists. I play 95% of my guild wars time in the mists. I do not want to go for hours and hours into the pve to unlock a trait. The pve guys do not have to go to pvp for unlock something. Why do I have to go to pve to unlock my traits?

sPvP feels more and more like a second born child.

The problem with your suggestions for increasing the number of gamemodes in pvp is that there isn’t sufficient player base.

The player base is so low because of the leak of gamemodes and balance . Bring new gamemodes and you have more players. Make fights more fun (balance ) and the player base grows

The good thing about the decap engi is that the people are not running all condition damage. The people start to adjust and try to counter that build.
I guess this is also a reason why we see eles or mesmers back in the game. Before the decap engi I saw 1 ele per day. Now I have games with 2+ eles.

The bad thing about the decap engi is that AR will not be nerfed for the next 3 month because it is not an issue for ANet.

Dolyak is Bad. Look for Hgh builds if you like elixirs. The damage is awesome but a thief is always hard for power engis. Ostricheggs twitch channel shows some good builds. Take his power grenade build and change grenades with bombs. You will see how much stronger it is

Many people just dont care about win/loses. They care about good pvp fights and with good oponents. So they wont defend and only search for battles.

I can understand that. But there are plenty of dueling servers for that or even hot join with just 5 people. Why join solo or team q?

I am with you. Most of the time you try to find a stratagy at start and you teammates are afk or blame the team for losing after some minutes of the game. I also like if 2 guys go to treb because I posted it at the team chat and the other guy did not read the team chat

1. They never said the 18th was going to be when the big patch was coming.
2. Even if you manage to misinterpret their intentions 1 month ago they specified that the feature patch wont come until a later date.

They are alot of things to be kittened off at, the removal of glory instead of simply keeping it until a new system is in place, but whining about the feature patch not being out today is not one of them.

Also you are probably going to be waiting a lot more longer, so sit down and relax.

I guess we all know that today is not the big spvp patch. But nothing? Nothing is hard.

They posted over one month ago patch notes for a Feature patch containing VERY small changes and Bugfixes. But we do not even get this changes. They do not care about the community. We suffer because of warrior and decap engi they do not care

Basically decap engi is very successful against any team regardless of skill as long as they are not running a thief. Now most high level teams run thief so you may assume that anyways.

wait what? the build is good unless the other team is running a thief and all teams run thieves soooooo…..?

imo decap engi is akin to mm necros in that it’s a solo queue stomp build.

This is the reason why good teams go for warrior instead of a decap engi. Random char + thief kill them in no time and nearly every team is prepared for them right now.
Decap engi is very good vs condition classes and a good bunker.

I just checked the pvp build and it is strange. Forceful explosions works not for grenades. So it does only work for the mine you place after you dodge.

Blood injection on a power build? Really?

The sigil for 5% more crit on a build with already 44% crit chance does also not fit very well. For more damage you could have battle or air

VOIP is a bad idea. In lord of the rings online it was implemented and really nobody used it, not it PvE not in PVP. Waste of ressources to implement it.

Ah ha, you brought me to my next question xantosnightwish, when should balance patches come in relation to the season? If we had our perfect world, how often would balance patches happen and how would that affect the duration of a season? Some people have suggested fairly lengthy seasons which is at odds with more frequent balance patches. If a balance patch comes out should there be a waiting period before the season begins? If so, how long?

Bring small patches every month. Adjust classes step by step. Take feedback into account and 1 SMALL patch every month is fine. Even if the patch only bring only something like -8% heal signet.

Devs asked a time ago if we want some new amulets for spvp to have the option power+defense. But it is too much work for them to create an amulet with power + toughness for spvp only.
