The main problem of all engineers are the condis and the worst condi for the engi is fear because we have no good stunbreaker. Give stun break to elixir C would be awesome.

Both builds are working fine against most opponents. The first build is weak in teamfights but strong if you hold a point. The 2nd is good against everything but terrormancer.
In my point of view the matchmaking is fine. I only play soloQ and around ~top 100 the games are always challenging if it is a 5vs5. I am a causal player and have only time for 1-3 games per day. Long que times are not good for me.
They should add a filter to the games. So you can set some preferences (maps, classes you play with…. ) but you have to wait longer. But for me. If I have 30min time I do not want to wait 20min to play one single game.

I had some fights vs pure turret engis the last days. If the elite is up, they will decap the point in most of the times anginst all classes.

So I just want to say that I love my Asuran Engi and I don’t plan on playing anything else.
Currently I’m trying to build an anti decapper engi. I’m assuming that a condition top heavy build would be a great idea, but any other tips on what I should be running?
Correct. Engineers can’t deal with conditions.
Are you referring to countering turret bunker engineers, or the old rifle/flamethrower/throw mine engineers?
Either way, you’ll probably want to use runes of Balthazar, probably pistol/pistol, and something like grenades, toolkit, and elixir gun. Grenades aren’t a great engi vs. engi kit but you might need them to take down turrets from range.
You might consider sigil of doom—the poison proc is extremely strong in engineer 1v1s.
I’d suggest a standard 6/2/0/4/2 rabid condi setup.

Lich Form is very hard but you can blind the Lich and run away or abuse LOS. You should never try to fight a Lich with any char. I mean the Lich is able to hit you for 4k+ with a single hit. That’s not an engi problem. All classes have trouble with that
looks funny and hard to kill in 1vs1.
Look at the cooldown. Without the knockback the cooldown is too short. I guess the overcharged shot is fine as it is. The knockback removes immob as well. This is nice
I play because it is pure fun to play this game. I love PVP, I love the style, the community, the competition, the balance.
This game is awesome. Unfortunately I have only limited time. But I every minute I can spend in PVP is fun for me.
You can already counter this turret forest with one staff ele or with other AE damage easy. But you have to play coordinated. If you run on point you will die in short time. If you remove the turrets and pressure the engi you will win. But to fight against AI is never fun.
Let us guess for a moment they would play 5 MM necros or 5 mesmer. The problem with AI are for many classes the same.
AI is always bad for the game. Does not matter if turret engi, MM Necro, PU mesmer or spirit ranger. AI in PVP is a bad decision.

You can go 0/0/6/2/6 with soldier amu and outdamage other zerker builds or pure condition builds. This is OP because other classes can’t do it.
The second argument is that this can be done in a normal combat rotation without wasting cooldowns. Other classes are not able to create such amount of might stacks. They are able to get ~12 stacks of might with sigil of battle but no more. It is only on Ele and warrior easy to get this might stacks without wasting cooldowns. You can get them during the normal combat rotation.
so what if warriors can ele can “easily” get 25 stacks of might?
it does not matter.thieves / mesmers / necromancers can easily remove those 25 stacks of might.
to some degree, i think engineers also can remove boons easily.
We can only remove boons with mines. It was used for decap engis for a very short time to remove stability but is was not very popular because this skill is so bad. Now no build exists with this utility and engis have already a hard time and no space for this utility.
And it matters for sure if you can get it easily. If you get stuff for free that makes you so powerful and other classes can not. That’s not fair.
But ok, some people think the runes should be nerfed and some people think they are fine. We had a thief/warrior meta before the runes now we have a warrior/thief/ele meta. That’s not that bad

The best thing on the stun breaker on the thumper turret is that it has a cast time 0_o
IF they nerf those runes I will be forced to play hambow warr instead of GS/LB warr. Since hambow will out-sustain the GS in the long run due to the massive loss of burst.

They should try to remove all AI from PvP if possible (for mesmer it is not possible I guess). But bring new and more AI to PvP is not a very good idea

This is the main problem with warriors in the current meta. The fire field from Bow + 20++ of might makes the old HGH engi looking like fool
perfect. I will watch it. Could you set the stream settings to low/medium/high instead of source? I have problems to watch the the stream if it is set to source.
Decap builds do not bring you into the meta. Decap Engi was in the SoloQ strong, but now it is not so strong
But in fact the meta has changed from condi to power. And the ele is in the meta now for sure and he is more or less very hard to kill for an condi engi. The necro is still very strong against us. So many teams decided to replace the engi. The fact that we are easy to kill is also not very good for us in the current meta.

Thumper turret has 11k Health. Should not be very difficult to spike it down. The self heal of this turrent is really low. And the turret has a cooldown of 50sec. So this should not be an issue.
Watched a lot of streams and replays from ToL, ESL EU cups and stuff like this (mostly EU) and it looks like we have been kicked out of the Meta.
Most teams are running Warrior/Warrior/Guardian/Thief/X and X is replaced by Ele/Necro or Ranger. Sometimes a mesmer can be seen. I watched a lot of games and have only seen one engi. And this team lost in the second round.
I know in ToL NA Chaithh preformed very well but it looks like the top teams replace the engis with other chars.
I like my engineer and in soloQ I do not feel underpowered. But it looks like the current meta is power/bunker and we have been kicked out of it.

Looks like engi was kicked out of meta in EU. Watched the ESL cups and only 1 engi in all the games and the team lost with the engi. In ToL EU and NA very few engis left.

Balthazaar needs to be fixed. It’s inexcusable that 9 months after this has been acknowledge, balthazaar proc is still unblockable and undodgeable.
Patch nodes from today:
Rune of Balthazar: Fixed a bug on the 6-piece bonus that caused the burning effect to go through blocks and evades.
Grenades on Engi’s, need to have a minimum range requirement, bombs are for close proximity, nades are for throwing, not spamming at your feet and slaughtering everything around you without effort.
This would remove all builds with grenades we have. But if you add a minimum range to grenades, please add a minimum range to bows as well. Same argument.

This seems to be a highly hyperbolic post to me. You’re talking specifically about condition necros vs condition engis and really overstating the hard counter nature of this situation. A decent necro will punish an engi who spams condis and boons, and I agree that condi necros do well against engis for sure, but you’re 10/10 kills statement is absurd. Plus, most necros I see run power or MM, which engis should do well against.
This is not my opinion watch top engis streams like chaithh. He posted how to beat a necro with an pure anti necRo build. At this day he played several duels and lost all oft then with his normal builds. Not even close. But the 10/10 means necro is condi and engi condi
For pvp if you try to survive from beeing focused it’s
1. guardian (blocks + stability. Hard to kill in short time even if 3 people focus him)
2. thief (teleports away or go into stealth)
3. warrior (stability and stance, huge HP)
4. mesmer (teleport + stealth)
5. ele (teleport + stability )
6. necro (stunbreaker with teleport and huge HP pool)
7. ranger (evade on a stunbreaker a lot but has a hard time)
8. engi (blocks for 2 or 3 sec + elixir S)Stability is the key
the engi one is a bit off you can have both toolkit for gear shield, static shield, and elixir S, if you dodge in between using these skills you can be mostly safe from enemy attacks for about 10 seconds (any fears, pull, ect. can ruin the blocks though)
No build exists with all this skills. I guess 90% of all engineers have only gear shield + elixir S or static schield and elixir S or static schield and gear schield. But all abilities in one build are not often used. This is the reason why the engi is on the last place.
Additionally the elixir S is nice for stomping but not the best abbility to survive very long. (you can’ t remove the effect nor conditions on yourself )
The problem with gear shield (fear – pull – whatever) is an additional problem.
In tpvp in 4vs4 or 3vs3 teamfights the engi dies first. No question. For sure the teams go for the thief first, because he is more dangerous. But if you want to spike a target quickly. Take the engi. No other class dies that fast.

Chaithh pays Vee wee’s build at the Moment AS far AS I know. I love Chaithhs p,p build but the meta changed so I play it with EG and without Elixir s. I can’t stomp with this build but EG makes 1vs1 easier.
I searched for the build and watched some youtube videos. It looks to be a really strong 1on1 build. Not much you can do. You have to chase the thief.
