A new question. How do you handle boon hate thiefs?
Playing the condition damage build is hard against the boon hate thiefs. I am a 4-kitten after they took my might stacks. They do not care about my thoughness. Get 4k – 5k hits and die in ~4sec.
Respect that you try it. But sPvP and Gadget…. this is no love story.
The cooldowns are bad, rocket boots kills you more often then it helps and with only 1 condtion removal you die against every Engi/Ranger/Necro.
Additional you took strage combination of skills. For example :Infused Precision and speedy kits. Then you have bunker amulet but you main idea is to go for direct damage.

hgh is harder to kill than necro…Stunbreak, access to prot(random),vigor,regen ,cond removal and most important massive pressure.He can chill poison blleed and burn your life away in 1 grenade spam and in AOE. With necro cond cleansing is manageable but with engie low life classes either dodge perfectly or they die cause nothing in the game can counter cleanse that often that much.Plus he gets to cover with vunlnerability etc the bleed and burn
Btw I really hate when people (not you :P ) still try to push the “engie is up/got it hard” when thats not the case at all atm..He has 2 powerfull builds and no option??

I am not telling that the HGH needs more stuff or is weak (please remove the randomness on my skills). But I do not like if the all people cry that the necro is easy to kill because it is not. Engineer has random access to prot OR vigor OR regen at the same time. Grenades are not easy to hit. It is not like I press random buttons and hit someone. Even top player miss a good amount of grenades.
It is true that the massive pressure it the best defense but it is useless if 2 or more people are on you. And this was the example.
Necro has also access to protection (Spectral Wall,Ritual of Protection+well of Blood, Spectral Armor and necro is able to take Superior Rune of the Forge, HGH can not),
Necro has also access to stunbreaker. Of course you will not take all possibilities in one build. But spectral armor is possible as a stunbreaker + protection.
And…. fear.

Turrets need like some 100~300% life buff or some complex change.
in PvE or WvW it is ok. But please not in PvP.
If you play the engineer as a node keeper turrets are fine.
I like to play with some friends. Some of them have a high rank like 40+ and some are low rank (like 10). Please develop a system that satisfy causal and pro gamer. Do not close a door for one of this groups.

They should just make it like EG #4 but break stun.
My problem with rocket boots is that I play sPvP and useing rocket boots means very often flying 1 meter backwards and being doomed to die.

You can use Elixir S, right after the Immobilse to avoid the damage tho, but it really is a game of dodging at the right time. You can actually, blind the Memser, if you are fast enough! When you see the Clone come running, if you blind him, he will still swap place with it, but the attack won’t immobilse you, and you do have tow blind in the HGH nade build, but it’s still a tough one! =/In special in a tPvP teamfight where the action goes high, or WvW team clash, a Shatter Mesmer that have seen himself mad at you, can be a really dangerous foe!
A shield in off hand can help on the sitution if his hunting you the entire match, if you time the block perfect, which means right before the swap (else it won’t work, Blurred Frenzy will cancel the stun)
I think the best odds for winning such a situation as a HGH Engineer is gaining distance while lobbing nades behind you, many of them lack real condition removal, so random tossing of grenades can score some easy damage hehe!

in a normal fight I put all my conditions on him. Break the first stun with Elixir R and dodge twice. Apply once again all conditions on him and watch him die. But from time to time you know…. bam and I am dead
I use pistol/pistol but even with a rifle if I miss to noticed the leap it is over because blurred frenzy makes the mesmer evading all attacks and change position with the clone is instant

But if I got it correct the only possibility I have from your video is to dodge the leap. No other way out.
I have no blocks and in tPvP I often fight in team fights because of the HGH nature, hard to stay on the mesmer all the time (sometimes they add to the fight for example). If I fight 1on1 then mostly on a spot and there is no space so I have very limited time to dodge the leap.
I have an additional question. I play the HGH build and I really love it. It is still strong. I see Ostricheggs stream from time to time and he is using rifle HGH or Nade/Bomb build from time to time. But how can we handle a pure damage shatter build?
I use the stunbreaker for the first attack and try to apply as many conditions as I can on the Mesmer. Mostly he does not die until his 2nd Shatter combo is ready and I eat 3* ~1500-1900 damage + sword damage with my 17k life.
How do you guys handle Mesmer with this build

Every class has pros and cons. But compared to engineer the nec is just not viable enough anymore. While engineers are good in 1v1 situations and able to kill bunkers solo, necros can’t. Some teams also tend to push far with a kit-engineer, which puts a huge pressure on the opposite team. Same goes for S/D thief. Necro has just not that many options.
You are playing at top level so I do not answer back to your arguments. On low skilled games the necros doing well if they go to decap a guarded point.

you’re right, I find it funny that some complain about hgh while I can get 25 stacks of might on my necromancer without really sacrificing much. 1 adept trait, 1 utility, 1 sigil vs 1 grandmaster trait, 2 utilities and a heal, 1 sigil and appropriate runes. go figure :palso, correcting something said above, sigil of battle and sigil of strength share cooldowns. it’s not a good idea to use them together.

last 7 of my matches were as follows:
first one 5v5 against rank 40+ entire team. and my team were I am DOUBLE the next highest ranker…. lost 500-200 sumthin….
second match…
4v5 a no show…
third…. against the old pro guild vs my 4v5…. 500-30….. Im a bunker with 916 power…. scored double what 2nd place was…..
fourth…. my team basically zerged yet still didn’t cap a single point… I had 14 decaps…. 14!!! that’s 1 per minute basically. still lost….
fifth….we won by 1 point in a 4v5.. my team with the 5…. i still scored highest… still no clue how….
sixth… i 1v2’d ENTIRE match on far point. decapped. still lost. how my team loses a 4v3 ill never know.
seventh…. 5v5 with 2 rank 1’s…. I quit????Um why should I even bother playing?

Im R44 and have lots of expariance from playing the old tournaments from GW2. People I have been playing with before are not active anymore so after the introduction of leaderboards i have been pugging solo. It has been a terribe experiance, mainly becouse… well everything is random :-)
You get matched up with random people, there is no penalty for leaving the fight and some people simply dont know what to do or how to play.
I know Im deffinitivly good to be on top 1000 on leaderboards, but since I have been pugging all time Im usually around 95-75%. I once even dropped down to 42% becouse for 7 cosiquitive games I was paired with leavers, people going afk, people rank 1-5 and so on. First I was so kitten off I was hitting the desk with my fist and then embarresed when I saw how low my leaderbord position was, 42%.
But you also win games only because of leaver, afk people and rank 1-5 people at the other team.
Create a friend list, invite nice people before tourney. Problem solved
Playing most of my time in pugs. Having a good time. I like it the way it is.
FT is not an damage kit. It gives you condition damage and utililty. in the right hands it works well. Look at teldo streams he is able to handle 1vs3 against top player. He is chain killing BM ranger. Decap vs 2.
FT is not that bad.
I saw his other FT build. It’s a condition spike build. He’s using it so that he can go pistol shield instead of pistol pistol. That’s great and all, but is that really how a flamethrower should be? Read my post again. It’s not about this being useless. It’s about it not acting as it should and having mutliple skills that do nearly nothing.

He never uses skill 2. Ever. Skill 1 he only uses to get damage ready for a mesmer portal. Same with skill 4. In the end, it did jack.
In short: Yes. You can use flamethrower, but the way you use it is completely unsatisfying and the way you want to use it is completely useless.
We have many possibilities for the FT.
It is completely unsatisfying for you. From my point of view it is fine and I do not want a new overpowered build for the engineer with a cool kit so that every winning team joiner is now playing engineer instead of thief/ele or ranger.

Flamethrower is a utilty weapon not really for making damage. Additional your information are wrong the rune of the engineer gives 5% damage;

I play a lot with my brother and sometimes with an additional friend. In a system with solo que and premade que what happen to my team? What if we are 4 people, are we still playing against pugs?
If I play solo I often see some nice people and we create a pug. A pug would be destroyed against guilds playing for a long time together. … So I like the system like it is.

nice build but I guess you have to much condition removal possibilities. I would change elixir C against EG. EG gives you a nice condition removal and a light field and healing. With EG #5, #4 you get area retaliation. Anyway, very nice build
I played a tPvP against such an Engineer. If he could add to a fight he was deadly. But in a 1on1 situation or 2vs2 he was the first target and he was always dead first.
Adding to a fight and killing people is a job for thiefs.
Charr is my favorite race. True beasts of war. Human have so little appearance diversity they all look the same like dolls started making me sick.
HGH is the top build so far but if you want something fun and easy to play yet dealing enormous amounts of damage I suggest you start with static discharge:

But the video is a wvw video and shows very selected fights. This build in sPvP is less effective because you are not playing against braindead people and you have no defense.

I’m going to assume OP hasn’t faced a bunker Engineer since the latest patch…
Never played against a engineer bunker build that was comparable to guardian/ranger/ele bunker. Not even close.

I am not a top player but I play a lot of tPvP and I watch streams. From my point of view in a group fight thief is target no.1 but after the thief the engineer is the 2nd target. This is a glass cannon build and this means you eat a lot of dirt in a team fight.
With this build you will die always first. 1 condition remove every 20 sec. low HP, low armour. I guess this will be funny in hotjoins but not really in tPvP
That Mortar elite needs a nerf, way too OP. It’s not fair that engies can carry around siege that can hit me halfway across the map! The projectiles move so fast and the AOE is so huge, it’s impossible to outrun those red rings of death
and it hits like a bomb and heals like a nurse
