Where the hell did this come from? its a level 35 dungeon……its not like its hard. Getting called a noob and kicked for wanting to play my level 41 Elementalist when I have more achievement points that the entire rest of the party combined is monumentally aggravating. And then when I finally do get a party (still with all level 80s)…..I end up carrying them (on my noob level 41) all the way through cause they keep going down.

Hey just found this thread after a google search, I’ve been doing some theory crafting and came up with something very close. Less tank but should have better damage output.
A bit of wvw play testing by a guildie who had all the dungeon tokens to buy the armor seemed quite promising. So my question is has anyone been running this type of conjure perplexity ele in wvw and what are your experiences?

So I picked up a new set of armor to abuse the new Focused mind traits fury. With Fury now being something my guardian can get quite allot I stuck runes of rage on to help with maintaining Fury up time. But the 20% Fury duration seems to have no effect on the Fury gained from Focused Mind.

Seems to me any issues with perma stealth thief’s could be fixed with one gameplay change, revealed when crit. If a stealthed player receives a critical hit while in stealth they are revealed. Done.
I would say 80% of the players who get ganked 1on1 by thief’s are either straight glass cannons and shouldn’t be by them self’s anyway. Or are new/badly built characters who would likely be killed 1on1 by a skilled/well build character no matter the class.

Here is the medi build I use.
1: Neither my build or your build are high dps, they have good damage but nothing crazy
2: You have really low hp and you don’t have the damage avoidance to make up for it (blinds, protection and blocks)
3: Rather light on condi purge, some fights that wont be a problem but if you ever come across a good condi necro you could have problems.
At the end of the day its up to you, I would just load up and try it. You will find the things that really seem to cause problems for you. The issues pointed out in this thread can for the most part be fixed by team composition. Remember, there is no do it all perfect build don’t be afraid to leave a weakness in your build if a guildies build can pick up the slack and vice versa.

I would use a combo of two builds depending on what you feel like doing as its gonna be very hard to get a build that’s good at both roaming and holding down a point.
So here is the build I use for roaming. Its got good damage and good survivability but is not a bunker. This build is fairly high skill level and can be tough to get good with it but once you get it down, its deadly. Remember to use virtue of justice when in a fight it gives you might and retal while giving them blind, vuln and burn plus it gets renewed each time a foe dies.
And heres a bunker build, you can swap on GS S/Sh and just change one trait and it should work quite well. I have used variations on this in wvw but I find it annoying because without friends you will die against more than one oponent…it will take bloody ages but at some point you will be healing less per second than they are damaging.

Go full berserker with dagger main hand, trait 30,0,10,0,30, drop well of corruption and well of suffering and see if the DPS is low :-p
Better yet stick ruby orbs on that zerker gear and use Lich form (yes I know people hate lich) but the 1 attack can hit crazy hard!

I like sigils of leeching and sigil of blood. Leeching is 975 hp on weapon swap and blood is 475 on crit with a 2 second cooldown. I love life steeling !

Ok lets take a look at your complaints.
1:
Swiftness, engie as a whole is kinda crap for speed unless you have the Swiftness on kit swap trait and I didnt want the other traits on that line. If you really need swiftness you can swap elixirs H and C for med kit and slick shoes or elixir B but I would not give up C and H is more a personal preference thing.
2:
Immob, lol ok what else are ya gonna do? shoot net shot (the easiest projectile to dodge ever) drop a net turret? sure that will work while some one is on the run.
While in a 1 on 1 fight in pvp those are issues they are not in pve and if your getting into non duel 1v1’s in wvw your a lost cause already. There are no build without any short comings thats why you should try to coordinate your builds with team mates so that they can pick up where your build drops off.

Thanks missed that in my read through. I have never noticed leeching and purity conflicting on my thief or guardian but both have so much condition removal it would be tough to tell what was purity.
I forgot to mention are leeching is stock 975 life steal meaning that not only is it 975 heal but its 975 damage to your opponent.

So when a guildie who is also one of you overly attached engie lovers complained about the lack of good builds and all the bugs and nerfs on engie, I set out on an epic quest to make a build that would stop the endless whinging in our TS channel and bring peace to the realm.
What I came up with breaks the laws of science and is all but unkillable (yes that’s a word…now)

This build has been able to survive and stay in front line combat that only the toughest of bunkers can withstand and unlike bunker builds (or crappy tank cats) the EOD tech keeps up consistent damage between 1k and 3k per bomb while healing him (or her) self for about 750 hp a second.
For this build you will need full Ascalon Catacombs Power Toughness Vitality gear with the runes of the monk that come on it. A mix of exotic carrion and soldiers jewelry. Ascalon Catacombs Power Toughness Vitality pistol and shield with a sigil of leeching (best sigil in the game) and a sigil of purity.
Get this gear together and bask in the glory that is an invincible damage dealer that would make 55 monks look like child’s play (look up 55 monk on youtube if you don’t get the reference).

Ok so right after the patch me and my guildies loaded up and hit AC. Interested in the changes to Dethas path we did path 2 first.
The Spider Fight:
kitten this fight is a bear now, nothing I see as bad just tough as nails compared to the pushover it was. Also closed the door to stop us from soloing Dethas….crafty buggers. The gravlings in the hall are really easier than they were as long as you nuke off the breeder first (god those babies bleed hurts) the stealth one isnt bad as long as your whole party knows to dodge away from him.
Kohler Fight:
I have heard several players whining that Kohler is harder now and all I can say is ???. Kohler and his ads took the nerf bad hard and now do way less damage, all you have to do to beat him is kill his monk and then beat him down and ignore the other ads. Stupid easy 2 minute fight tops.
Dethas Traps:
OH GOD THE LAG, nothing really new about this fight went pretty well considering that my frame rate dropped to about 7. Its not just my machine either it happens to most of my guildies some of which have epic rigs. The real issue is it happens every time you get more than 3 gravlings on screen at once FIX IT.
Ghost Eater.
So the first part of this fight where she builds the traps is MUCH easier than it was, ghosts all have much less hp and power. But the Ghost eater fight is much harder due largely to bugs. For those who haven’t done it the idea is you use the OOze things to charge traps, once a trap is at full charge you kite Ghost Eater into the trap and it takes off his invulnerability so you can hurt him. Ok cool sounds fine right?……NOPE two of the traps glitch out after the first use every time, and the third one glitches about half the time so you only have a chance to beat the dungeon if your really lucky. Once the lag and traps are fixed I don’t think Dethas will be to bad. High dps will be very nice here to do max damage while his invuln is down.
Hodgins:
Basically the same as Dethas, the only path specific thing that was changed was the end boss, if you could do the defend Hodgins room before you can now no problem.
Howling King:
Ok so he now uses he daze scream way more but its much lower damage than it was, he also has this blue laser puke thing that summons 500 gravlings that all knock down. The way your suppose to deal with them is kite them through flame fields that Hodgins puts down. The thing is he is REALLY hit and miss which makes its quite hard to keep them off you, you can interrupt his blue puke and if you get the timing just right it stops his army from coming but its a quite narrow window. Add to the nock lock the crazy gravling lag and this fight is a pain in the kitten I think you could make it much or tolerable if Hodgins gave a flame scepter to a player so you do need to try and rely on a kitten NPC.
Tzarks:
Again aside from Spider and Kohler nothing but the boss changed.
Colossus Rumblus:
So Tzarks is now the easy path! Now the falling rocks cover the whole floor of the room and are a insta kill. Grast sets up a bubble shield to protect you from the rocks, you get plenty of warning to get in the bubble and you can continue to attack Rumblus from inside. The only real problem here is the fact that Grast can die and if that happens your going to party wipe. This was a pain until I broke down and re-traited and re-armed my guardian for straight healing to keep Grast up, once I did that it was cake.
So in short my preferred party set up for the dungeon as it is now would be Healing guardian Healing Ele with ice bows and fire sword and 3 zerker warriors. This would give healing to keep the warriors and Grast up while making both Dethas and Hodgins bosses much easier by bursting them down.

I would use this in WvW and PvE. My guild [FLOT] is quite small so we run as a 3-5 man havoc squad in WvW. We have found that do much more good for our server if we run tough builds with so so damage rather than our zerker spike builds, so this is designed to function as a tough raider.
I think that for a tough build regen is the 1# most important part, I call small rapid heals maintenance heals. When it comes to staying on your feet, big heals with long(ish) CD’s arent gonna keep you going for very long at all. Maintenance heals are why altruistic bunker guardians are so tough, they get regen buff they get there vertue regen and then heal for each boon they apply. On my guard at level 80 that adds up to about 800 hp a second without ever touching 6.
I wouldn’t call it a “support” build, it has team condition removal and the moas have a nice aoe heal but I think all builds should have some team support even if its small. I tried out some dps type builds but none of them felt like they did enough damage to offset the lack of survivability.
I don’t really think ranger is bad, its just……hard to love.

Last night a guildie challenged me to see if I could make a psychotic ranger build on the same level as my builds on other classes. Always being up for a challenge (and knowing that I rip every ranger I see in wvw) I grabbed my little level 13 and hit the mists.
When I made my Guardian, Thief, Necro and Engie builds there were always things in the skills and traits that really caught my eye as being essential to my builds stated goals, generally being very tough while maintaining good dps. I really didn’t get that on the ranger, there seem to be a bunch of “ok” traits and skills and some that seem downright pointless (Circle of life I’m looking at you)
What I ended up making seems….ok but not great. As a whole I don’t get what Anet is trying to do with this class, every thing seems to be rather meh. Ranger does not seem balanced with the other classes when just about everything it has can be done better by another class.
So again hats off to rangers that stick with it, you guys are a tougher breed than I.
For any one interested in what I made up, its not bad its just not as good as it could be. But if I ever get my ranger to 80 I will most likely use some variation of this build.
Gear, I would go AC P/T/V armor, full runes of the soldier, soldier or knights jewelry. Either dual P/T/V great swords or dual zerker great swords both with Superior Sigils of Leeching (best sigil for tough builds in the game imho)

Kenmichi, I would advise getting the first set of armor from AC its Power as the primary stat Vitality and Toughness as secondary stats. Then stick runes of the soldier or of the fighter. That alone will boost your survivability without ever changing your trait build. If you stick with 10% damage vs burning foes it might be wise to get a superior sigil of smoldering to keep them burning as much as possible.
As for your skills I would drop save your selves in favor of stand your ground as the stability stun breaker is very nice in dungeons.

You can manage, just use buffs to compensate for the damage.
Heres the build I use on dungeons to great effect.
My gear is AC as its one of the only toughness vitality armors I know of (and I hate over 1k tears) full soldiers runes, are much better than Dolyak since the regen from Dolyak is so small. Soldiers also removes a condition whenever you use a shout and all your utility skill are shouts. Jewlery should have either toughness vitality or vitality healingpower, same for weapons.
At level 80 I have 21k hp and gain 79hp for every boon I apply from altruistic healing. I apply boons with virtues shouts crits and weapon skills.
21k hp gives you a nice buffer for conditions which are removed with shouts. About the only time I die with this build is when I have no alleys near me to activate altruistic healing.

Pve dungeon bunker build.
Gear is the first AC set as its one of the only sets I know of with toughness and vitality.
Full runes of the Soldier NOT of the Dolyak, you need the loss of conditions on shouts and the regen on Dolyak is very low.
I have Guardian of the Six for my shield and Droknars forge hammer, went for some healing power to make Altruistic healing and regen more powerful.

The 2 skill on staff keeps constant regen while smartly using all of your wells will hold you at max hp through almost anything. The 20% recharge reduction on wells means that if you use lich form and death shroud back to back you can keep your health pool up long enough for most of your wells to recharge. Dagger focus is great for the occasional extra boost to healing.

I’ve been watching the TP and the number of supplied candy corn is growing while the demand remains the same. Because of the bots there are just WAY to many candy corn knocking around the market compared to how many can be taken out by the drains already in place, what if a temporary npc was added that would trade candy corn for random crafting mats.
2 candy corn for 1 crafting mat tier 1-3
3 candy corn for 1 crafting mat tier 4 and 5
5 candy corn for 1 crafting mat tier 6 (orichalcum and such)
10 candy corn for 1 rare and exotic crafting mats

Well my healing guardian is only level 53 but my thief is 80 and both have all healing runes and jewels. Neither of them get one shot in the slightest, the main things that are even gonna come close to one shoting anyone are bosses. Boss one shot attacks almost always have big telegraphs warning you, so if you are quick with your Virtue of Courage and Retreat you can flat out block most of the big attacks like Kholers pull.
Something folks don’t seem to get is, low health pool doesn’t mean dies fast. (in pve) Guardians can block and heal fast enough to tank some crazy stuff. Warriors have that huge health pool so they can get in pop there huge damage skills and get out before they die. you can make a Warrior tanky but he still wont last as long as a fully specked guardian with out support.
So for your kit I would dump the runes of the dolyak and get a full set of runes of the flock.

I have seen loads of posts on here either looking for groups or complaining about how hard it is to find a group for X dungeon. My idea is a poster board type thing next to the entrance of each dungeon and in each of the major city’s where players would have a list of available party’s, number of players in each party and weather or not said party was already in a dungeon. There would be a tab for each dungeon and one for just random exploration party’s.
Just a thought and I know its rather close to the system in gw1 but hey as my granddad always says “Dont fix what aint broken”
