Yeah i’ve seen this in chat aswell (and when i went to the level 30 dungeon) – it’s really begining to be quite annoying and making me wonder should i re-roll while i’m still at a relatively low level (39).

I’d really love to hear Anets take on this issue (and yes it is an issue), but i don’t think we will.

Arcane Energy
Currently I have noticed that Signet of Restoration and Arcane Shield do not proc the endurance regeneration of Arcane Energy.

Lightning Surge (Staff skill)
(Staff) Lightning Surge has infinite (very long) range, or as far as you can have an enemy targeted. Both the damage and condition are applied to the enemy and it can be applied outside of the 1200 range the attack is supposed to have.

Burning Speed
Burning Speed can sometimes fire you in random directions instead of in the direction of the mob you are facing or targeting.

Evasive Arcana
Evasive Arcana lacks a visual effect when it triggers in water (visual bug) and it also doesn’t work at all underwater. Not sure if this is intended design or a bug. As it’s a tier 3 trait it should be something that does work in water (or at least have water viariants).

Evasive Arcana
The tooltip says an Earth Dodge will cast Churning Earth, but it instead casts Shockwave despite the animation looking like a Churning Earth. This Shockwave does about 10% of the direct damage of Churning Earth and has no Bleed damage either.

Blasting Staff (Trait)
The marker circle on the ground doesn’t get bigger in the Staff area attacks (though the effect does indeed becomes bigger)

Lava Font
The tooltip states it lasts for 6 seconds however it actually lasts for 4-5 seconds. Additionaly the Fire Magic trait which was supposed to “Make area fields of fire last longer by 33%” (probably XI one) does not take any effect as well.

Vapor Blade:
Vapor Blade is supposed to hit twice, once on the initial path and once when it returns to you. However If any obstacle is in front of you or behind your enemy (e.g. a wall), the blade won’t come back and will hit just once (intentional?).

Burning Speed
Some times the blast occurs at the beginning of the slide forward instead of at the end of the slide. This results in a huge chunk of D/D burst being lost as the blast will not hit your intended target in a combo.

This may be lag related, as such is it possible to put in a fix even if there is lag?.

Whirlpool
Whirlpool loses it´s graphics if any other skills graphical effect is added before casting. (for example, magnetic shield, arcane shield, auras etc.).

Shockwave/Gust
shockwave and gust become obstructed if used on a target that is on a different level than you even when you have line of sight. E.g. trying to gust somebody on the upper level of keep in forest while being on the point.

In addition, neither of these abilities seem to track their target once fired. If this is intended the abilities should fire straight out of your character as that’s a much easier way to aim them. As it stands now, unless you de-target and manually aim it is near impossible to hit a strafing target.

Lightning Surge (Teleport)
Sometimes the teleport doesn’t go off. You see the lightning strike at the targeted location, but your character isn’t moved there as if by teleportation. Most of the time this occurs when the area you are targeting is higher or lower (And I don’t mean that the view is blocked). The character “jumps” forward sometimes, as if it is trying to move to that location, but it appears that the location is “blocked”. The skill still goes onto its full cooldown.

Magnetic Grasp
Magnetic Grasp is a leap finisher when it is not stated on the tooltip.

Magnetic Grasp/Burning Retreat
When using magnetic grasp and burning retreat, the character’s movespeed is effected by cripple and swiftness. This can make for some annoyingly slow grasps but is mostly an issue for burning retreat. The tooltip wording and the fact that you evade made me think the skill is supposed to be a normal dodge which leaves burn.

Lightning Whip
Lightning whip has a tiny hitbox that it will miss whenever you or your opponent moves. This might just be because of latency, but seeing the whip go straight through the mob over and over with a string of red ‘miss miss miss miss miss miss’ gets really frustrating really fast.

Ride the Lightning
Ride the Lightning does not work a lot of the time when you use it while targetting an enemy that’s moving. This is a huge bug because it leaves you helpless for the duration of the spell and it’s like a CC you cast on yourself.

Ride the Lightning also does not work with the 20% lightning skill recharge trait, it should recharge at 12 seconds but still recharges at 15.

Magnetic Grasp
Magnetic Grasp is very glitchy. It usually works in pulling you to the foe, but sometimes it will pull you to them and keep pulling you too them even when you right next to them. This is also like a CC cast on yourself as it can leave you helpless for the duration of the spell unless someone else interrupts you (the duration is around 10 seconds long).

Mist Form
Mist Form: It states in the tooltip that you invulnerable for the duration of the spell, but you can die from DoT damage during it, if this is intended then the tooltip needs to be changed to state that – if it isn’t intended then it needs to be fixed.

Armor of the Earth
Armor of the Earth states that it breaks stuns and then further makes you immune to those effects, but sometimes it seems it’s possible to be stunned and it won’t work (untested by myself).

Arc Lightning
Arc Lightning, the cast doesnt stop once the target is dead or when changing targets and sometimes when the cast has finished.

The tornado Elite doesn’t work for PVE underwater

Churned Earth
Churned earth, when interupted during the cast it doesn’t do the smaller interupted cooldown and instead does the full 30 seconds cooldown – this interupt issue can be caused by the player themselfs or enemies.

Conjure Frostbow – Ice Storm
The Conjured Frostbow AOE Ice Storm attack fires it’s arrows to the right instead of strait up (visual bug, not major).

Glyph of Elementals/Lesser Elementals
Glyph of Elemental and Lesser Elemental have extra text above their skills text staiting the skill is locked or your transformed (visual bug, not major).

Signet of Fire
Signet of Fire doesn’t have the proper range – it states it has 1200 range just like the other Signets but it has a range of around 800/900, anything over that and it simply won’t hit.

Glyph of Elementals/Quick Glyphs
Glyph of Elementals is not affected by the 20% Glyph cooldown reduction from Quick Glyphs, the tooltip states it has dropped to 96 seconds – however it defaults to the 120 second cooldown instead.

Glyph of Lesser Elementals works fine with this skill.

Arcane Fury/Lingering Elements
The lvl 15 minor bonus in the arcane trait “Lingering elements” has no effect on Arcane fury (intentional or not?).

Air Attunement switching
Switching to Air is considered an attack, when you switch it can start to auto attack a nearby target.

Signet of Air doesn’t apply a Signet symbol above your head like the other Signets do (fire/earth) when cast at a target, it also has no animation (at least on Asura) letting you know it’s been cast like the other Signets – on Asura it supposed to have a hand wave. (visual bug).

Bug appeared after the recent 14th Sept patch.

I started another similar thread on this, but it had suggestions in it aswell and i hadn’t reserved the 1st few posts – as such this thread is for bugs only and not suggestions.

Please post any bugs/glitches you have spotted and i will add them to the list on a daily basis. Also if the bug hasn’t been posted already in the game bug section please post about it in that section and then put the link in your post so i can add it here aswell – this is so the mods/devs still have single thread links available for ease of use.

To the mods, please don’t lock this thread, it’s simply a place to keep track of all the elemental bugs in 1 place (and it also gives you single links to each bug in the games bug section) so people can have 1 place to post them and keep track of them.

If the thread could be stickied it would be a big help so it doesn’t get lost (and it will also stop multiple threads on the same things).

I know we are weak and also have a number of key skills that either don’t work as they should or are just not good at all, but i love to play the harder classes in MMOs (again, not that elementals are really hard, just harder than most other GW2 classes) and i’m a sucker for a magic class with FIRE!!!.

Also another reason i’m sticking with mine is because there is no open world PVP so i don’t have to worry about that, and in WvWvW i can play the AOE role nicely despite our shortcomings.

The discussion over elementalists being sub-par are rampant in a heap of places, and I legitimately think with correctly working skills, and minimal tweaks and buffs, we’d be in a great spot.

This is what i think aswell, with all the broken skills fixed we’d be in a very good state – and i recon a lot of elementals don’t even realise certain skills are broken.

Myself, i didn’t notice arcane power didn’t give 5 critical hits until i was level 24 after someone pointed it out to me, at which time i swapped it out for Signet of fire and just found out earlier today that the range is broken on it.

I’d love some of the suggestions for the class to be put in, but to be honest at the moment i’d be happy having all the main skills work as they should just to see what we can actully do.

True, it’s just it’s been known we need some work for quite some time.

It also doesn’t help that a number or our base skills (the 5/20 weapon skills) aren’t working correctly which in itself is damaging out DPS – a big start would be to fix them.

I can’t believe that the missing PvE whirlpool is not in mentioned.

Btw: what should the 15 point Arcane trait do? Which bonuses should linger longer?

No need, they’ve already said they are onto fixing that for PVE which is why i didn’t bother to post it in the list.

On switching roles you can gain a bonus if you have 5 points in arcane, it lasts 2 seconds as standard but with the 15 point trait is should last 5 but it doesn’t. Actully after further looking why do we even have this 15 point trait? – there is only 1 skill affectly by it (the 5 point arcane skill).

Added some of the extra ones that have been posted. Mainly the bugs as these are most important, and i’m really hoping the devs take notice of the them because we have so many that are broken/buggy (i say this as every report i made before got lost and no devs/Anet person ever replied to any).

Can’t believe nobody else has posted this one, it’s one of my biggest annoyances.

The air attunement is considered an attack. It has its own range indicator (little red bar at the bottom when target is out of range), and switching to air attunment will auto-attack anything in range. This is EXTREMELY annoying when I switch to air for a speed buff for the express purpose of travelling from area to area, and it ends up auto-attacking some neutral mob, pulling me into combat and thus actually slowing me down to combat speed.

Note: I’m not referring to the 15-point air trait bonus which adds a lightning attack when switching to air attunement. What I am referring to is simply a bug with switching to air attunement.

Never noticed this, but you are correct – just tested it out.

This is the thing that confused me aswell after i got a bit leveled up (where is our single target DPS weapon?).

What they should put in is a 10/20/30 point trait option to change the staffs (for example) attacks from AOE to single target attacks based on the same attacks.

Like so (think similair skills across F/W/A/E changed to ST instead of AOE).

Fire example.

Fireball
Cast a fireball that explodes on impact and hits multiple foes.
To.
Cast a fireball that explodes on impact and burns the target.

Lava Font
Make lava erupt from the target area.
To.
Make lava erupt directly under the targer (no longer an AOE placed spell).

Flame Burst
Burn foes at the target location.
To.
Burn the target – extra damage is applied to an already burning target.

Burning Retreat
Quickly roll backward, leaving behind a line of fire that burns.
No need for change.

Meteor Shower.
Call down a meteor shower onto the target area.
To.
Asteriod Strike.
Call down an asteroid strike onto the target.

Doing this means people can’t moan about extra weapons and we have to give up AOE for single target or give up single target for AOE.

Another +1, i’ve posted about this a few times as i love all the conjured weapons and my 2 favs are the hammer and greatsword. It’s so annoying in the heat of battle (pretending to be Thor calling down the lightning!!!) you have to quickly enable auto attack.

Indeed, I’ve seen people refusing to take elementalists into dungeons.

I’ve seen this aswell.

I’ll say this though (just like my old WoW Arms warrior – when they sucked in groups) i’ll stick with it and not change.

Not when i just tested it (just now), it still only lasts 2 seconds for me.

I also think we need a slight increase in our base healing skills, they all seem far to weak (in the healing department) and hardly heal at all (more so on the longer CD ones).

I may be alone in this but when I play my ele, I put down conjured weapons specifically for other people to use. And when some random person walks up and takes the hammer I put down for them, and then charges into battle with it.. it just makes me happy.

Not me, if i’m in a party and i place a conjured weapon down for me and a party member it’s so annoying when some random passer-by grabs it. It’s also just as annoying when i place one in a location i’m heading towards (through the fight area) for me to grab when the one i’m using is out of charges, only to get there and see someone else has grabbed it.

As per title, the range of the attack states it to be 1200, however it’s actuly closer to 800/900 range.

All other similar signets (earth/air etc) all say 1200 range aswell and the attack part hits just fine, yet at the very same range SoF states “out of range”.

Confirmed on the signet of fire, it does indeed have incorrect range. I just tested it and it actully has around 800/900 range not 1200 range.

I would love to have switchable weapon sets for my elementalist. Even with a much, much longer cool-down than the other professions. I understand why they weren’t implemented in the first place (elementalists already have 20 weapon skills to switch between), but I’m still carrying around two sets of weapons with me (scepter/dagger and a staff) and having to switch manually.

This is especially tough in WvW because I can’t be anywhere near combat if I want to switch, and keep having to run far away to make the change.

Agreed, it’s actully quite annoyinng to be caught in combat with daggers – then for the target to go out of range and then switch weapons (from a melee range weapon) and start hitting you at 1200 and you can’t change weapons to match them.

Signet of Fire doesn’t have the proper range.

When you activate it to burn a foe, you’re likely “Out of Range”.

Gonna try this now as i use this skill all the time (as i no longer use arcane power due to it being broken).

At the early levels it is quite easy, later on though you have to work harder (not much harder mind) than most other classes to output as much damage as they can just mashing buttons.

On top of this on certain weapons (daggers for example), we can get locked into certain ranges of combat whereas other classes can just swap weapons in combat to change their range. So for example a warrior can be in melee range with a big sword and then insta switch to 1200 range with a rifle., an elemental can use daggers to be at melee range and then we are stuck to that range for the duration of the combat because we can’t switch weapons.

This for me is a weird thing because it’s clearly because of our F/W/A/E swapping, yet the various states all have around the same ranges with your equiped weapon.

A theif calling an elemental OP? (sorry i couldn’t resist ).

After having tried all the classes i gotta say the elemental is one of the most UP classes, it’s also one of the more complicated ones to play correctly – now i’m not saying hard, just more complicated than nearly any other GW2 proffesion.

There is an issue with this skill, if you happen to get interupted during the cast you don’t get the small interupted cooldown, instead you get the full 30 seconds cooldown of the skill – despite the fact it doesn’t actully do the skill.

Gotta ask, how many elemental skills don’t actully work as they should?, it seems like on a daily basis i spot a skill that doesn’t work right.

As per title, is it a bug that if i cast a conjured weapon and then get downed (even if only for a split second) i loose my conjured weapon as soon as i get back up?. The same thing also happens if you pickup a quest related item (like a frog for the frog trap quest), it automatically makes you loose your conjured weapon your holding.

This is a bit of an isssue as the cooldown on them isn’t exactly short (3 minutes on a fiery greatsword), i can cast it and use it for all of 5 seconds and then pickup a frog for a quest/get downed for a few seconds and then loose it and have to wait minutes for it again.

So i ask, is this a bug and are they ment to stay equipped under the above 2 conditions?.

Yeah I would have thought lots of people would made it known, I’ve submitted bug reports in game to no avail. Maybe it’s just not that popular at the moment. I was really surprised to see it wasn’t fixed in the patch today. Infact I was surprised at no Elementalist changes at all but that’s another story :P.

Have to agree here, of all the classes needing work i’d say the elemental is top of the list – on top of this a number of our skills are broken/cause issues and over the past few days/patches not a single fix on anything.

I just want to know if it’s going to get a fix, on other things i have issues with i can say balance issues, BUT this is very clearly a broken skill.

I just unlocked this elite skill and wow is it annoying to use, not because it’s a bad skill BUT because of how it sounds. Is it ment to sound like this or is this an audio bug?.

In a sticky perhaps, it really wouldn’t take to long and it would be nice to know they are aware of what skills are not working as intented.

Every day i’m noticing more and more skills either aren’t working as intended, or just not working at all.

Arcane power doesn’t give you 5 critical hits like the tooltip states, it gives at most 2.

Thought i should also add this incase people are just thinking the time is running out before 5 hits are done.

The skill lasts for 30 seconds or until 5 hits are made (well if the 5 hits actully worked) so it isn’t running out of time.

I’m actully surprized more elementals aren’t posting about this, maybe they just aren’t noticing the issue (like i wasn’t until you pointed it out).

You are indded correct (well for me the 1st 2 hits are critical hits only – unless 1 is just luck), i knew something was up with my damage when using this skill. They should make it into a charge setup perhaps, so when activated the buff icon shows 5/4/3/2/1 (kinda like conjured weapons).

A video to show the bug (thought it would help), it’s quite clearly only doing criticals for 1 or 2 attacks and not 5.

Guess i’ll switch to another skill until this one is fixed, because it’s pretty useless like this.

Seriously – does anyone know if this is intended and i’m just not seeing the extra skill to combine with this?, i just unlocked the elite version “glyph of elementals” and it has a similar message above it reading “locked skill, you cannot use this while transformed”.

Can someone from Anet let me know if this is a bug please.

I think it’s some sort of “throttling” system ingame for when to much is going on (don’t quote me on this, just a guess) or just a general game error.

I’ve had it happen a number of time on my elemental with with various spells, fire sheild (no fire ring around me), earth sheild (no little stones) things like that. However it only ever seems to happen when quite a few other players are around.

Not sure if this is a bug or i’m just missing something, but on the utility skill “glyph of lesser elemental” there is a box above the actual skill description that states “locked skill, you cannot use this skill”.

For the life of me i can’t figure out what’s locked on the skill so i’m assuming it’s a visual bug.

Whilst i agree the deluxe upgrade is pretty bad (shockingly bad for the £22 ingame upgrade) – it should include some tasty skins & pets etc, i have to disagree with the elite skill being the 2nd best elite skill and making the little perks permanemt.

The elite skill should be the worst elite skill on any proffesion and should be more of a visual thing than a power thing.

Hi,
I believe it is in the mechanics of the game to manually activate the auto-attack option every time you swap or equip a new weapon onto your character (Ctrl + Mouse click 2).

We suspect/know this, we’re asking for it to be fixed/changed so we have a choice.

For some people it’s fine to have it not be set to auto attack, for others it’s very annoying be swtiched from auto attack to no auto attack so often (despending on play style).

So the new self help is now enabled and there is no way to re-enable the authentication in “My Account” or any other way.

Do you plan on adding a way to re-enable the Authentication? (i mean it makes sence that you should).

Armor pieces clipping through eachother

I don’t think they’ll fix it – it was posted about in the beta and it’s been posted on here a few times aswell and nothing has ever come of it.

It’s a shame as some of the clipping is pretty terrible, more so on the Asura (the clipping in them is just OMG!).

Conjured Weapons/Banners - Make Pickup Player/Party Only.

As per title, please make it so Conjured weapons and Banners (and anything similar) can only be picked up by the person who put it down & their party members.

I can fully understand why buffs etc spread to anyone and everyone around but certain things need to be for the player & players party only – i don’t want the Banners buffs etc player & players party only, just the ability to pick it (and similar things) up.

As someone who plays an Elementalist and loves using the conjured weapons, there is nothing more annoying that spawning a Lightning hammer (or bow/sheild/axe/greatsword) running out of charges/time and then going to grab the spare and seeing it taken by some random passerby.

If in a party i can tell people to leave them for me, or tell them to use it – so please change this.

He means quickly consuming the charges after the weapon has been cast. Since you can only use a certain number of skills before the weapon itself disappears, he’s making the point that auto-attack is disabled for a more controlled use of limited charges.

You know i never actully knew that, i always thought it was simply 60 seconds of usage. That makes conjured weapons even more weird – i thought it was bad enough that Fiery Greatsword had a 3 minute cooldown with only 60 seconds of using it, but only 15 charges aswell!.

I still would like it to remember auto attack though – as you say so people have a choice in how they use it.

If conjured weapons remember auto-attack, you will consume them so quickly. It is good for conjured weapons.

I think you may have miss understood the issue.

We aren’t saying the Utility skill to conjure the weapon (for example Lightning hammer) won’t remember auto attack, we’re talking about the 5 new attacks you get from the the conjured weapon.

So if i conjure up a Lightning hammer i get 5 new attacks, each of these 5 attacks has no auto attack by default (not even the 1st one) – and if i set the 1st to auto attack and then pick up the extra hammer or switch back to my main attacks and then conjure it again, all the Lightning hammer attacks are again set to no auto attack.

We just want it to remember if the auto attack on the conjured weapons 5 new skills are set to enabled – if they can’t do this simply then they can at least set the 1st attack on every conjured weapon to enabled by default.

It’s a very annoying issue that effects gameplay a lot IMO. I love the Elemental conjured weapons, but it’s such an annoyance to have to set auto attack each and every time i conjure one.

So, is there any word on if they are ever going to fix this?. It’s so annoying in the heat of battle when you conjure a weapon and it resets the auto attack.

Whats even worse is on the elemental if you set it to auto attack on a conjured weapon and then pick up the extra one you spawn, that resets the auto attack again despite you having the same weapon.

Please Arenanet, if we set something to auto attack it needs to remember it.
