I don’t know if I am gonna do it again. Had a sliver of life left and the game crashes with logon issues. Spent a bunch of time on him…pretty darn frustrated at this point.
I’m not, just not worth the time/risk just incase.
I’d have no issue with the waypoint cost if it simply went by distance and not level.
I can fully understand it costing a few silver to go from Lion’s arch to Cursed shore (1 end of the world to the other), but i can’t understand how it costs a few silver to go from 1 waypoint to another within Cursed shore (the same zone).
It’s even worse if you want to go to a lower zone to help people out, you get there and get lowered to the correct level etc. Now all drops are pretty low and you don’t get much money etc – yet the travel costs are the same!.

Currently in the options there is a way to adjust the horizontal character postion, however for certain races a vertical slider is really needed (infact i’d say it would help all races). At the moment the postion of the character is IMO far to close to the center of the screen and this means that for the most part we see far to much of the ground and not enough of the sky area (a big issue when fighting bigger enemies/bosses).

Due to this i suggest for a slider for the vertical postion to match the slider for the horizontal postion, this could allow a +/- 1or2 inch postion change which would be a big help (certainly on asura at least).

Please forgive the way the pics have been made (i simply streched the sky box area to make a clean image)) – but it does give an idea of how it could help things. On the fully zoomed out pic for example you can see at least an extra inch of the sky area while you can see more than enough of the ground area (same for the zoomed in one really).
So Anet, seeing as your currently working on the FoV, could you perhaps also add in this feature aswell.

Contrary to information from posts of others, the horizontal viewable area doesn’t change. I can of course zoom-out one more ‘notch’ in the client with the beta change enabled, and I can see more in the horizontal direction- but this is zooming out. not an increased hFoV.
You don’t see the extra horizontal in those pics because of the close range pillars, look at my post above yours (check the top and bottom pics) – at long distance (and middle distance) you can actully see more horizontal despite them both having the exact same zoom position.

Here’s a little comparison for with regards to zoomed out distance between new and old. Top pic is the default FoV with a 1 click zoom out (from fully zoomed in), middle pic is fully zoomed in on the new FoV and bottom pic is the new FoV with a 1 click zoom out (to match the top pic).
As you can see, all though the new FoV is closer to my character you can clearly see more of the sides and top (between top and middle pic), and on the botttom pic you can clearly see more of the sides, top and bottom.
The thing that annoys me most about the nerf, is the fact that for the entire duration of the event we won’t ber able to get as much as people did for the 1st 2 hours of the event (let alone what people managed to get in i think 6 hours).

In the 1st 2 hours you could loot 4 chests each hour (2 from each champion) and in each of those chests you got 4 items – that’s a total of 8 chests with 32 items.
Now you can only get 2 chests every 24 hours and each chest will only drop 2 items, now the event lasts until the 31st (i think) so that’s another 4 days – that’s a total of 8 chests with 16 drops.

I mean that’s a joke, we can’t even match what people got in 2 hours in the 4 days left!.
Also, since my character is Asura, when I want to look at the sky I end up with the… back of my character taking almost all of the screen. This must be fixed.
The most logical way to fix this issue is to make it so if your camera every gets this close the character becomes fully transparent.
So playing normally would look normal, then if you look up and the camera does it’s usual getting right behind the character, your character then becomes invisible on your screen so it doesn’t disrupt the view – i’ve seen a few games do this.
I’d love the hear Anets take on this aswell as the vertical ground/sky issue.

Just because you find the current version better doesn’t make you a weirdo, FoV is a personal thing and what some find good you’ll find bad, and what you find good others will find bad.
It’s why people want a slider or at the minimum a tickable box for the new/old FoV.
So seeing as this is a feedback thread, can we get some idea if you plan to put in a vertical slider to go with this on proper release?.

So we can have this.
The top pics are zoomed in/out defaults of what we have now with the new FoV, as you can see – we can see a lot of the ground (more so on the zoomed out shots).
In the bottom pics i’ve made a mock up of what it would be like if we could adjust the up/down position (vertical slider) by around 1inch which is very similar to the amount we can already do the left/right (horizontal slider). As you can clearly see (again more so on the zoomed out shot) this is much better, we can see much more sky area which would be great for big enemies/bosses and just general good viewing.

Now on the zoomed in shots it’s not really a huge issue (all though i do think it’s much better), but on the zoomed out shots it would be a massive help indeed (more so on certan races).

This is gonna be great PR for ArenaNet. THe paying customers get ripped off in the BLC, the cheaters get the super sweet items that are gonna take other people months if not years to get, and the regular people are stuck looking at the cheaters awesome stuff knowing they almost had a chance at it too.
This part i have to agree with, it’s really not right as we’ve now gone from 1 extreme to the other.
I recon this needs to be said, please do not just make this a forced update for all (like you did with the camera smoothing – please give us the old one as an option).
Yes i will use this new FoV as it’s much better for me, but if your not going to add a FoV slider please make a “wider FoV” tickable option so people can choose to keep it the way it is, or have it the way it is in this test.
Agreed, i got in the game 4 minutes befor the update (i had just gotten in when the 3 min timer popped up), it’s just not right that people have been able to get so much gear/gold out of this and those of us who missed it get nothing.
Either give us all a chance at this or rollback what people got – sure it’s not exactly nice, but at least it’s fair.
As this is a feedback thread for this, for asura (maybe others) you should really add in an vertical slider for position as asura are far to close the the middle of the screen (we already have a horizontal one). I’m not asking for a FoV slider, just a position slider like the one we already have.

Isn’t that the usual thing, let the people who look for easy gold “exploits” get all the gold/items while the legit players who just happens to show up later get nothing.
What i do like is how it was “fixed” and strait after i can’t loot the chests, nice one.
XanXan, what you’ve most likely seen is a transmuted version, the orginal book and this one will only take level 0 upgrades.
As for you trying to transmute yours and it not working, have unequpped the other one? – you can no longer transmute items if your currently wearing them.
I’ll go nuts if i find out you can get the T3 Asuran GS/Hammer/Staff via other places for cheaper, i spent 189000 karma for mine in the past few days .
There have been plenty of posts demanding that the chests be removed.
You can refuse to pay in a restaurant IF you didn’t get what was advertised. Because that is a breach of contract. The other reasons you stated may result in your getting charged with theft.
Hmm, must have missed those “plenty” i’ve hardly see any state that.
Also, i’m actully correct on the other reasons i stated and you can’t be changed with theft as long as you pay something/or regected the meal – which i did state (but this is more of a PM thing as i’d take up a lot of room posting the actual rules regarding this).
If you don’t like a dish at a restaurant, then the thing to do is not to order it in the future. Not making a big public scene in an effort to get them to take it off the menu and prevent everyone else from being able to enjoy it in the future.
I don’t see anyone asking for the chests to be removed (taking them off the menu), i see a lot of people simply not satisfied with them (be it with skin drop rate and/or even if the skins didn’t exist in them) and want them to be improved.
PS.
In the UK, if your not satisfied with a dish from a resturant (not as advertised, not satisfied, don’t think you got your moneys worth etc) you can actully refuse to pay the full price for it and it’s up to the resturant to persue you for the rest (court etc). You can’t be arrested for doing this as it’s a legal right we have as consumers.
If only this applied to chests, i got them and am simply not satisfied with what i got and i certainly don’t think i got my moneys worth, i’d happily pay for them BUT certainly not what i was charged (unfortunatly with chests you pay 1st).
I mean, you barely even see your own weapons even when you’ve got them ready. Why do people care this much?
One of the main features of this game is collecting gear for its looks rather than a stats increase (it’s actully a selling point), add to this the cultural weapons are purchased for their looks and not the stats – so of course its a vanity thing.
Why do people care?, because they’re 63000 karma items that are supposed to be unique. I mean why would anyone spend 63000 karma on an item for its looks when you could buy the same look for under 1000 karma?.
I don’t know what you’re talking about, unless you’re playing an Asura. My Norn’s Pact Avenger is like a fusion powered buzzsaw diving board. I see it all the time.
I play an Asura and i can see my Tier 3 greatsword, hammer and staff all the time and just fine aswell.
I’d love to see what Anet have to say on this, there was a lot of threads at launch about the Tier 1/2 cultural weapon looks being easy to get off drops/TP – but even Tier 3 versions?.
Surely it’s not ment to be like this, surely the cultural weapons are supposed to be locked to race and unique.
At 1st i thought the same but getting karma at level 80 isn’t that hard (and you don’t really count the rare aspect as these are for looks – well it’s supposed to be, hence the thread). Add to this the new daily 4.5k and monthly 45k karma rewards and you can get an extra 184.5k a month (based on 31 days) from those alone.
So in 32 days from just the dailys and 1 monthly you can get 3×63k karma weapons (189k total)..
The cultural weapons aren’t even that great when you compare the stats to other level 80 weapons.
You’re much better off saving up for something off the trading post or making yourself the weapons you want.
You’re not supposed to get the Tier 3 cultural weapons for the stats, you get them for the looks.
That’s the point of the thead, the cultural weapon that costs 63k karma that you buy for looks can apparantly be gotten via much cheaper means – and this is only for certain weapons on certain races.
Hmm, here’s hoping that the Asura Tier 3 weapons can’t be gotten any other way as i’ve bought the Greatsword, the Hammer and the Staff for 63k each.
I have to say, Anet really need to make it so at the very least the Tier 3 cultural weapons are locked to race and only available via the 63k karma purchase (and perhaps half the cost for the 1hd versions). It’s pretty bad that the Tier 1/2 weapons can be picked up/purchased via TP at level 2 (my 1st GS drop was the Tier 1 GS in looks) – i’d be livid if the Tier 3 63k ones where the same.
It just seems like they ran out of time and just said “ahh well, lets just use regual skins instead – no need to make the cultural ones unique”.
I think certain restrictions in tPvP could be good – things like no more than 2 of each class, aswell as possibly DOTA/LOL style picking (you pick a class, they pick a class etc).

No i’m saying a lot of peple didn’t realise that unless you got a rare skin the chests are pretty much worthless.
Getting a rare skin should be a bonus on top if your lucky enough to t get 1. It shouldn’t be a case of getting basically nothing or getting a skin – it should be getting your moneys worth with a chance to get a skin.
I’ll say this again – i do not mind not getting a skin (they should be rare), however i do mind that what i got from the chests as standard was not worth the costs involved.
1. Not a chance, after this the only way i’ll ever open a chest again is if i get a key via a quest/drop.
2. No, i was waiting for an event such as this.
3. Yes, i have actully spent real cash on gems to convert to gold and used that to buy skins – however i waited until the conversion had basically doubled as i’d expect at least 100 gems to get around 1 gold.
4. Yes, i honestly think Anet doesn’t think what they are doing is wrong.
5. They’ve certainly lost my trust, i actully feel like i was cheated out of my gold (the gold i spent on keys).
6. Nope, i recieved 300 candy corns, 30 jalloween crafting items and 6 tonics – in the end i sold the lot (trashed the tonics) and got around 75 silver (for my 20+ gold worth of purchases).
There is nothing wrong with Arenanet offering the option to gamble for those who enjoy it but people like you need to be wise enough to realize that this is not an appropriate choice for them.
I am wise enough now as i now know how much of a gamble it is, i expected a gamble BUT i certanly didn’t expect that much of a gamble.
Anyways, i’ve filled my official complaint and i won’t be spending gold/cash on the store for things like this again – it’s a lesson learned and i recon i’ll just have to deal with it (it’s not like Anet is ever going to offer refunds for those that feel cheated).
I love your game Anet, i just really don’t lilke how certain things like this are being handled – anyways, off to start making my gold back .
I know i got the chest for free, that’s why i put it as 1 gold for a BL key/chest as it cost me 1 gold per key to open the chest.
I’ll still say it though, you should at a minimum get at least your moneys worth, even if it’s something you don’t want. To me, 2 gold (basically the cost of 2 BL keys/chests converted to 1 MK chest) to get 20 candy corns, 2 crafting items and less than half a tonic is not even close to getting my moneys worth.
Think about this for a minute, 2 gold for that and it’s not even enough for 1 4 hour skin! (i’d need another 7.5 MK chests for 1 – or 15 BL keys/roughly 15 gold!).
@ Ditton, i don’t just want the skiin of my choice, i just what my moneys worth.
If something costs 1 gold (a BL key/chest) or 2 gold (a MK chest) i expect at least something close to that value at the very minimum. I’d be happy with not getting any skin at all if i simply got my moneys worth.
2 BL chests worth of items (the base stuff) is required to make 1 MK chest, 1 MK chest got me on average 20 candy corns, 2 crafting items and less than half a tonic (i got 6 tonics out of 15 chests) – that is far from my moneys worth.
In the end i spent over 20 gold on chests, do i think i got 20 gold worth of stuff?, not a chance – i don’t even think i got 5 gold worth of stuff.
What i find the most shocking about this “fix” is that’s it’s an even bigger rip off than what it was ment to fix.

Now what i mean is, i spend 20+ gold on 30 BL chest keys, this got me enough items to make 15 MK chests. In those MK chests i got 300 candy corns, 6 tonics and 30 crafting items.

Now based on average market value the candy corns and crafting items this work out to less than 1 gold worth. In terms of farming time i could have gotten all those items in around 1 hour (the tonics i won’t even count as you can jump in the forge for free).
That means for 20+ gold i got less than 1 gold worth of items – not a great conversion at all. Now for me at best i could get mayne 1 gold for 30 minutes play time (i’m pretty casual) so that 20+ gold is around 10 hours play time, yet what i got converted from that 10 hours play time is something i could have gotten myself in around 1 hour – again not a great conversion at all.

At the base level as standard in a chest you should get roughly what it cost to get/make one with a bonus chance to get something better, it certainly shouldn’t be a case of getting around 10% of what it cost to get/make get one with a bonus chance to get something worth more.
Basically if it costs 2 gold to make a MK chest (based on 1g for each BL chest) you should get at a minimum 2 gold worth of junky stuff and then have a chance on top to simply get a skin.

Now convert my 20+ gold into cash and it’s over £20 cash for under 1 gold worth of items, it’s actully quite shocking when you work it all out.
Now to the people who say “well, you paid for a chance”, sorry in a game such as this and for a festival such as this you should at the very least get your moneys worth and not have either – get ripped off or get really lucky.
I was gonna go for the Tier 3 armor but after previewing it clips (the shoulders) with the asura Tier 3 greatsword & hammer (which i use).
Such a shame as it’s a pretty nice set (apart from the helmet – it’s terrible IMO), in the end i just went full Tier 2 and put got some nice rare dyes to kit it out.
Anyways, congrats on getting it – it may cost a lot but i think that just makes it a bit more special.
I wouldn’t be so annoyed if what came out of the MKC was actully better than what i put in to make it (or even on par).
I mean i just don’t understand that at all. Anet know the things needed to make one, so one would assume it would be easy to at least make sure what you get out of one is at least as good as what you put in – with a chance of awesome (a skin) as an extra.
I just think it should be expected that what comes out is better than what goes in (even if only by a bit), i put in 30 boosters (various kinds) and 90 tonics and got back 300 candy corns, 6 tonics (2×3 kinds) and 30 crafting material. So basically i swapped 90 tonics for 6 tonics, and 30 boosters for 10 candy corns and 1 crafting material a piece.
That to me just doesn’t seem like a very good trade off, so in the end for the 20+ gold i spend on BLC i got less than 1 gold worth of items (current market rate for the sellables). Convert that 20+ gold into the cash amount and i’d be even more unhappy.
I mean a 4 hour temp skin should drop from each box as standard at least (they’re 4 hours temp skins!) considering the costs involved, and even then i’d say the trade off is still pretty bad.
LOL, opened all my mad king chests and basically i swapped 30 boosters and 90 tonics for 300 candy corns, 30 crafting items and 6 (yes you read that, 6) tonics – YAY! (i guess).
Well that does it for me, i’m certainly not buying keys anymore – i mean the solution to the problem gave me even worse (less) than what i had. I mean not even a 4 hour skin in each chest? (they last 4 hours!).

What i find fun is, before the halloween update i was having a great time and during the halloween update i’m just annoyed, man i wish i could trade everything back for my gems.
Lol, should have read the entire post, i was wondering why only my XP boosters were showing up to be added to the forge and not the 30 or so other ones.
Nice idea on how to do this, and working it out i should have quite a few goes.
1 Question, how come we can’t use the BL gathering tools or salvaging kits or are they under boosts?.
