Manasa Devi.7958

You assume that had she sent all scarlet’s research to these specialist that they would of come up with it faster……

We will never know, because the greedy kid kept everything to herself. It’s funny how you baselessly accuse Phlunt of being greedy while ignoring the utterly obvious greed of Taimi.

News flash the asura in rata sum didn’t even consider it a issue until they got reports of vines grabbing and destroying wp on the network and only taimi understood the severity of danger Mordremoth.

We didn’t consider it an issue before we saw vines grabbing and destroying waypoints, so that says nothing about the asura in Rata Sum.

Otherwise like most ADULTS she was ignored and the only reason that she that councilor phlunt was even interested that was because her mentor Zojja mentioned that taimi was in the works in making a device to help save the wp network.

No, Taimi told him this herself. And what a surprise, a man working for the ruling council took an interest in a kid that claimed she could make a device that could remotely mess with all the waypoints in the world!

Otherwise especially in act 1 of dragons reach it was made clear that phlunt that and his arcane council guards that were with him not only find it annoying to deal with taimi but also made it clear that they had no love for zojja.

Some people don’t like some other people, what does that have to do with anything?

They made it quite clear that if it was not for the fact she might have something of extreme interest to the arcane council in rata sum they would not given a two hoots what taimi or zojja are doing.

From what I got they could care less if she was being mentored and only when she has something they wanted that they pulled the mentor card and stole the device as a stipulation to going to the summit.

That’s not true. You should read all the dialogue in that chapter. You either didn’t, or you have a very selective memory in order to help you paint Phlunt as a bad guy.

Shady is all I can describe phlunt and his arcane guards not once did they care about taimi health or happiness but whether she had something of value to them.

That’s also blatantly untrue.

That it was clear had our player characters had not helped her the device would not of been finisih even at a decent pace, it was clear from the beginning that they were interfering with her finishing what was a vital project not only for her but for her people as a whole.

We helped? Oh, right, we carried some stuff. Maybe Phlunt and krewe thought such undertakings are better performed in a proper environment, where you don’t need bookah to go through the trash for components.

Most of the components given out by the LS are awarded to every character you play through it. An alt that didn’t do the story yet could be considered ‘storage’, you just need to play a bit to retrieve them. Or you can buy them from Azarr Softhoof in the Dry Top oasis, but 4 laurels per items does add up to a lot.

I wonder if Taimi’s marvelous rescue of the waypoint network where no one else could, might have something to do with the fact that she had exclusive access to a roomfull of Scarlet’s research notes pertaining to ley lines and whatnot.

If we’d said “No Taimi, this stuff is all going straight to Rata Sum where capable adults who are masters in their fields can look it over”, we might have had much the same end result, without us needing to babysit Taimi in the process.

I’m completely over the lack of options in the PS/LS. Having no options has been a given for years, I’m not expecting much of that at all anymore. If they’d given options earlier, I wouldn’t have had the obnoxious brat around at all.

Buying Gems today.What to get?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Manasa Devi.7958

Manasa Devi.7958

You need trans(formation) charges to change skins on equipment into skins you’ve unlocked. If you like to play dress up and change appearance often, you’ll need lots of those charges. You can buy them in the gem store, or farm them by completing city maps (uncovering all map markers). That gives you a guaranteed transformation charge, but you can only do a map once on each character. That’s why you need to keep a character slot free for ‘disposable’ characters if you want to farm for transformation charges that way.

Edit: if you want to get more out of your gems, you could consider holding on to them until the things you want are discounted in the shop. Things like extra bank storage and extra character slots have been at -20% for short periods of time every few months. If you don’t need a character slot or extra storage now, but think you might want them in the future, you can save hundreds of gems by waiting for the right time.

Is the RNG system truthly random?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Manasa Devi.7958

Recently, I’ve had something happen to me a few times that makes me doubt the RNG. When I click through piles of sand, I sometimes get groupings of 3: 3e geodes from 3 subsequent double-clicks or 3 lockpicks. Both have happened several times.

This could of course happen with a fair and proper RNG, but given the droprates of those things, it should be very unlikely and I wouldn’t expect it to happen several times in a short period of time.

face to face trading

Manasa Devi.7958

Direct P2P trading would rob millions of players of the opportunity to buy the items that are traded P2P. It would turn a wonderful, inclusive economy into a horrible mess.

Stating an opinion has been occurred. Proceeding to the next segment of post- the explanation why the opinion has been made.

No, it’s not an explanation of the opinion, it’s just the next in an enumeration of effects of introducing P2P trading.

Desirable items would become currency for the very rich, and outsiders would be paying them through the nose for a little taste of anything that’s not common as muck.

Desirable items have always been currency for the very rich.

No, desirable items aren’t currency. Coin is currency. You can’t use desirable items to pay for anything.

Outsiders have already been paying for items through the nose because of their lack of knowledge and laziness.

No, outsiders pay what the market arrives at.

If some “outsider” is only able to afford muck, then the solution is to address the problem, not to ignore the problem and prevent nice things from happening.

Why do you insist that outsiders can only afford muck? That’s certainly not a point I raised.

P2P Trading can harm the TP, yes, but the TP is controlled by players and has “harmful” prices, where there are sought after items that people are unable to buy unless they grind for months on end.

No player controls the TP.

Yet people complain that they will never be able to obtain them even though the reality is they will not be trying in an efficient manner. If you want to get to the finish line badly, you shouldn’t take the scenic route.

Stuff that random people complain about has nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

The TP being inclusive isn’t harmful, but opening up P2P, in my opinion, won’t ruin it.

Yes, it will. Items of which there are fewer available for trade than there are servers, and the absolute split of US and EU servers will cause things to become unavailable globally. At that point, the TP is ruined.

When doing P2P, you don’t have information at your disposal (yes you can open up the TP, but remember, greedy feeding off of the lazy). The only downside is that the “muck-buyers” will be buying muck outside of the trading post, thereby ignoring the gold sink.

The TP will no longer even function as a price indicator for certain items, because certain items will no longer ever appear on the TP at all.

That’s actually the biggest issue, the lack of gold sink. I particularly enjoy purchasing items through map chat, and that’s how I finished my first Legendary a long time ago. It’s relatively safe as long as you know what you’re doing and, because of lack of trust, you don’t ever get suppressed since you don’t make that many trades. But the trades you do make tend to be bulky (well, not 100+ of an item unless they trust you).

The goldsink could be compensated for by other goldsinks, but how would you counter the collapse of global availability of every tradable item in the game?

Now, if you’d like to explain more as to why you think P2P trading would rob players of items and turn our beautiful TP into a cesspool of greedy people feeding off of the lazy players, go ahead, but I’m quite sure that the TP has already been festering for over a year.

I’m not going to explain why P2P trading would turn the TP into a cesspool of greedy people feeding off of lazy players, because that’s not a claim I made.

The vine will never be as useful as the spinal blades if it doesn’t let you choose stats. It’s not inconceivable that a future evolution will let us do that, but the spinal blades had that option from the start, so I’m not getting my hopes up that the vine will ever have anything other than Nomad stats.

Unless you really want those Nomad backpieces, 1 of these should be plenty, to gain access to the skin, like Seras above me said.

DR Part 2: Trailer

Manasa Devi.7958

No you didn’t. This episode was more filler than anything else.

Someone needs to learn the difference between filler and plot/character growth.

If it wasn’t painfully clear, not every story piece needs to be filled with kill x boss.

Yep. DBZ had plenty of plot growth. Hardly in story progression occurred during that episode. All you did was run errands for a few people.

Fetch parts for Taimi. Fetch pieces of a crown for Rytlock. Do an event chain for Braham and Eir. This consisted most of the episode.

Your analysis of this episode sounds very bitter and jaded. Maybe if you actually didnt come into it with the glass half empty approach you could actually appreciate the fact that the following things happened between all of what you listed….

Eir and Braham are on civil speaking terms and are sharing a significant bonding moment. Something they have not had since Braham decided to leave and be his own man.

Rytlock has decided to end the plight of the Ascalonians and in doing so has pathed the way for Rox to be her own woman and lead where he cannot.

Taimi has managed to create a new tool to reduce the amount of magic required for waypoints to function, serving two fold in halting Mordremoth’s feasting leaving him weakened but also providing the universe with more reliable waypoints.

And to top it off we have a world first. The prospective leaders of each race convening for a summit.

If that is not story growth and plot progression then i don’t know what else to tell you.
Maybe you should stick to DBZ if all you can get behind is the tournament style battle royal next villain mentality.

There’s plenty of story, sure. My complaint about the update wouldn’t be that it’s filler, but that the gameplay elements just aren’t all that great. The open world content that doesn’t work very well or suffers from having too many people around didn’t impress. The instances were good though.

I’ve had this error intermittently since june, but not in the same way as people are having it now. I used to disconnect while playing and get this error, but I never had characters locked out for any amount of time. I just disconnected, instantly went back to the character selection screen, and always managed to log back on straight away. It hasn’t happened very often the last couple of days.

During the weeks when I had these disconnects really frequently, there supposedly was a DDOS attack going on. I have to wonder if the current problems might be the fall-out from that. Maybe a DDOS defense system falsely identifying some people’s IP as part of an attack and blocking their traffic to NCSoft’s gaming servers?

Greatswords shouldn’t be weighing a few hundred pounds of course. Historically, they were considered heavy and impractical if they went over 8 pounds.

According to Wikipedia’s article on Longswords,
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longsword)
a longsword weigh anywhere between 2.4-4.0 pounds. Compare the sword from that article to something like this
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bandit_Sunderer
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dark_Asuran_Greatsword
And you’ll see why they weight so much more.

I realize that the weapons in the game look like they’re ridiculously heavy. That’s why I said “Greatswords shouldn’t be weighing a few hundred pounds of course.” In the game, they do seem to weigh that much, for reasons only teenage boys can fathom.

Greatswords shouldn’t be weighing a few hundred pounds of course. Historically, they were considered heavy and impractical if they went over 8 pounds.

And historically, they weren’t necessarily used for the edge but for the point. Sort of like a spear with a potential cutting edge along the blade . . .

But that’s not what people expect so that’s not what we get.

Actually, it is what I expect, and that’s why I consider the vast majority of GW2’s greatswords complete and utter worthless dreck.

Sorry, maybe I should have been clearer.

That’s what the majority of people who see a sword 5 feet long think of.

I realize that’s what you meant. I just felt I needed to distance myself from that.

You should definitely not fight it at range. Melee, and it won’t hit you with the wiggling vines. In melee, it just seems to do a spinning knockback, very infrequently, and occasionally it creates a nasty field that you need to step out of. The nectar usually appears shortly after the field, drink it, and rush back into melee. The champion seems to spend most of its time putting vines under people that aren’t close to it.

A little condition clearing (when the field hits you) and a little healing are all you need to do to stay on your two feet, as long as you don’t stray out of melee for any longer than needed to avoid the field. Sadly, you’ll have to ignore all the downed people that aren’t in melee, reviving them will only get you vined and killed.

Unfortunately, the totem can be destroyed that way at some earlier point. If you do that, assuming you might as well get it over with, you’re sentencing yourself to having to restart the whole event chain again, because it doesn’t count if you destroy it early. I like the idea of mobs that spawn because of an active event not dropping any loot at all, provided that events give decent rewards to compensate.

It would change the game from “racing to tag as many mobs as possible” into “complete events as efficiently as possible.”

Farmers can just go farm non-event mobs.
