I like this idea, I like it alot, pets are both great and terrible in this game and the current form just doesn’t cut it in my opinion.
I wouldn’t mind being able to equipp some armor on my pet, both for defence and damage, like some protective leather harness and spiked collars etc the latter would do damage to any attacker each hit or even have an infusion slot or similar on them for spikes or metal plating to either give increased armor or do damage to attackers, it would help keep them alive and also could possibly do some serious damage to anyone feeling like blowing your pet up making them think twice about that option aswell as introduce a fun new mechanic for rangers.
There is nothing better when farming karkies, not necessarily dual wield just off hand is enough
if you go to the karka egg event rock where they are close together you can easily gather and kill 3 or maybe more at once with reflecting projectiles while takin 0 damage.
Increased base health and armor
AOE damage reduction by 75% or more
All main attacks changed to instant attacks
Shortened animation/activation on F2 abilities some of them to instants
Shrink the pathing zone around the ranger so pets don’t wander off half a mile and pull everything in sight.
I had it since the fractals patch or thereabouts, tried anything and everything as instructed with e-mail correnspondece from tech support, downloaded multiple monitoring applications to send them reports so on so forth, nothing helped if anything it got worse and poof with this patch not a single blackscreen.
Now this doesn’t help you one bit but keep trying and hope there comes an update that fixes it if it’s on their end wich is not terribly unlikely.
Xsorus is a good Ranger no doubt, and don’t think I’m trying to take anything away from his accomplishments.
He did highlight a potential benefit for the Ranger, above the ohter classes. Being able to dodge around, to not trigger Confusion ticks on yourself, and avoid retaliation, while your pet continues to do damage puts us above what other classes suffer against Pain Inverter, and Mesmers.
However, on my server people have begun killing our pets first, so I wonder what would have happened had that Ranger killed Xsorus’s pet first, what the outcome would have been.
The first time I had a Mesmer virtually instantly kill my pet, my mouth hit the floor. As a condition/BM spec, she cut my damage by more than half in a short period of time. Switching pets only bought me two seconds, before it was dead and I was staring at cooldowns.
Since then, it seems to be the normal occurence when roaming solo on my server.
Had the same thing happen yesterday more than once, and make “short period” “instant” very disheartening indeed, I’ve gone from loving pets in every game that has a ranger/hunter with pet to absolutely hating them in gw2 I want to delete them forever cause I feel so gimped by them I cannot express, they are slow at everything they do and die from sneezes.
Accept to duel him, then tell us how much gold you lost because if he is that confident he is likely very good and a very good thief will just mince a ranger.
You also have stun/cc immunity once every 90s in the survival tree.
I am positive I seen my pet get the conditions instead of me, if not the perhaps certain conditions aren’t transfered wich could be a bug or maybe the timer left on it is so short when it’s removed that it never shows up on the pet, that is also possible sometimes I guess.
As for rangers OP? get the kitten out of here with that bullkitten, we are likely the weakest of all classes in general.
I think longbow should work the other way round, have a longer range but do less damage the further away you are, or more damage the closer you are depending on how you see it
Shortbow should have shorter range then longbow but I would like it to put up bleeds from all angles, I really don’t see why it’s not that way already.
I does save you from a kd or a stun if you time it right you’ll dodge them.
My vote is jump in the water, lol, after trying and trying and trying without luck against a thief in the eternal JP I found my only chance was to jump in the water, I got her down to 20% health about 50 times and she always had stealth ready for it, I even respeced to every freaking setup possible to try and counter this one but they all proved equally useless, burst, condition, survival, healing, BM doesn’t matter she’ll run off stealth and cleanse everytime she gets low anyway and none of the pets could even reach her for a second, totally hopeless fight I even needed to take 3 days off from GW2 it was so aggravating.
Go to the norn starting zone and do the snowleopard shaman thingy where he transforms you into a cat, you literally can’t use any of the skills while moving and I’m betting that works exactly like our pets because it seems so.
So uh, if i want the quiver just for the look, i can use a trans stone on it and my current backpiece, right?
Can i buy everything i need for it or do i have to jump into the gear treadmill dungeon?
Well…. The quivers (and ascended tomes) have the best stats in the game, so I see no reason to use a transmutation stone.
It sounds like he has a tome for the agony slot and wants to make a quiver for the looks
edit: now that I read his whole post that’s not what it sounds like at all
dtill though can you transmute backpieces for looks? I never tried this.

I was thinking maybe a trap build like this?
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMEQJARVjEV11xVuVo2BilCBFomCNZJ2D+zoHVwnKOr a signet build like this?
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMEQJARVjAVB2JWGWs2Bi1DCFoB1UoJL5U4fPVwnKAre either of these good? Or good for what I’m looking for? Is one better than the other?
They both look ok to me, but personally I would rather put 20 points in skirmishing over nature magic in the second build, with bleed on crits and reduced timers on shortbow, you’ll gain more damage over the 5% sword trait but lose vitality some regen and protection, up to you if it’s worth I guess.
0/0/30/10/30 Tanky survival build, dmg will be pretty decent alot of it from the pet, condition dmg/precision/toughness on gear for slightly higher dmg or healing/toughness/power for monster regens.
I use this with a cat and a raven, but a dog or spider might be better in some cases.
Works well and you can in many cases survive against 2 alone depending on what classes and how bursty they are (assuming they are 80 characters upscaled ones you’ll take on half a legion without problems).

Sorry for being a noob but what on god’s earth does “kitten” stand for I see this term tossed round in just about every context possible and I haven’t a clue what it means, it makes me feel old, please help, grandpa wants to know…
So you can find threads about and resolve issues you might have on your own, possibly.
If you want personal support open a ticket.
Well that would depend very much on what is wrong wouldn’t it, the odd thing that seems to apply to everyone having this blackscreen issue is that no other games or applications are affected at all, only GW2, so there might well be something they could, need or should change then. Also it’s far from affecting “no one else”, this seems like a pretty widespread problem.

I’m going to throw this out there: If some of you are having issues with specific router features, and NO ONE ELSE is having those issues, why would ArenaNet try to re-write parts of the GW2 networking to handle your specific routers?
Since a router is simply supposed to hand traffic back and forth, it should be up to the device manufacturer to do that properly. You’re asking ANet to solve a problem they’re not causing.
I’ve had the exact same type of issue since fractals came out, tried this port forward thing wich sadly didn’t stop the blackscreens from happening but did actually improve another issue with super long loading screens that’s been annoying the hell out of me I’d say they are cut by 50% or more, so thank you for that.
I and a mesmer had some fun dueling in WvW against a thief and an engineer for some hours, in the beginning they would beat us more than not in 2v2, then we did 1v1 duels for a long time and I won all against the engineer and most against the thief at beginning I used both a 30/20/0/0/20 build for signet immunity and a more defensive 0/10/30/0/30 not sure exactly what he was running first but he did use a full burst dps spec in the end and that is practically unbeatable for a ranger unless you get lucky because he could literally one shot me with some 1800-1900 toughness from stealth only chance is to either time him with signet immunity or dodge exactly at the right time and then burst him back with petswap quickness and 1hsword + dagger evading I found.
They can barely sense visible ones I think you’re asking alot here.
I’m not into fractals high enough for agony but I’ve been running with a devourer, constant recalling to position and petswap makes them stay up most of the time but even as tanky as they are they occasionally get oneshot and there’s nothing you can do about it, I’ve not had any BM points though I reckon with a BM spec a devourer will stay up almost 100% atleast before agony wich I don’t really know how much it hurts.
Bit silly perhaps and doesn’t affect gameplay at all but I badly want to be able to name each and everyone of my pets I just can’t connect with a “Juvenile Hawk” nor do i want to redo it every 2 bleepin seconds…
I think in general the highest dmg stats are:
precision/condition dmg > power/crit dmg
Make the stats match the type of weapons and traits you have, and if you go with melee you probably need to think more on defensive stats aswell as a ranger is alot squishier than a warrior without them.
I think most like to help their groups as much as they can but noone likes the feeling of gimping themselves to buff others, I don’t want to get weaker and get downed or killed just so my party members get to stay on their feet, the few times I have used it people generally ran away from it anyway.
As a hammer guardian, I prefer that rangers use healing spring, healing strengh goes off of the guy going the finisher, so a ful cleric guardian guardian puts out a huge heal with 2 hammer, that’s not even close to what a thief can do when they get a hand on healing spring.
I’ve never actually had a group with a ranger that didn’t bring it, seen a couple of thieves not bring shadow refuge but they were new players,
Good rangers, will actually use healing spring on the front line so the melee get it and thieves can lay down some healing, even if they themself don’t need the heal.I don’t need a ranger to have a good group, but I do think they should bring it when they group up, even the glassy cannon thief will bring shadow refuge and spam clusterbomb on water fields,
To think that there are people out there that would not bring it for selfish reason wrecks my faith in humanity.
Oh and hello Durzlla
I guess I am banned from that other place, lord forbid you call a troll out eh, what a bunch of idiots…
Rangers suck the most? I feel it’s a pretty strong class, I’m probably a fair bit behind on dmg cause I spec for survivability but I feel pretty strong no matter what class I’m up against in pvp likewise I tend to stay alive better than most in dungeons too, yet stuff dies
…
I would fix that one bug which allows people to play a Ranger.
So many lives have already been destroyed because of this.
Why do you even play ranger if all you do is complain about it? I mean kitten, go play something else if you don’t even enjoy the prof!
Fate is a cruel, mean old crone. It made the class I love the one class which sucks the most.
Honey badger.
+1
Yeah I was wrong seemed logical how I explained it though with the longer CD and dependency on staying in the field ontop of that but I just tried it out myself (wich I rarely have before), it works much better for melee though and any finisher will make it pull ahead but the diffrence is tiny and the longer CD makes it not worth it imo, honestly I think it kinda sucks…
Are you sure on these numbers? pretty sure it’s 2000+ something in regen over 3 seconds however that is reapplied again after those 3 seconds expire if you are still in the field you get another 3 seconds etc etc making it 5 regeneration periods if you stayed in the field for the full duration resulting in a bigger but slower heal over time than troll, I still prefer troll myself but the spring’s full duration is more in total but over a longer period I’m quite sure of that.
No. I pulled those numbers straight from the official wiki.

Troll Unguent heals 856 per second for 10 seconds, making it heal 8560 health total.
Healing Spring directly heals 4920 and an additional 2340 total in regeneration, making it a total of 7260.
So yeah, Troll Unguent heals for more. But does Troll Unguent provide a water combo field, allowing for additional (group) healing? Does Troll Unguent provide the regeneration not only to you, but your allies as well? And last but not least, does Troll Unguent remove all conditions upon activation from both you and your allies?
No, no, and no. And that is why for my build, which is a BM tank spec with a focus on the regeneration boon, Healing Spring is far better than Troll Unguent.
I noticed something that must definetly be connected to this problem, during my latest blackscreen just a minute ago I opened the configurations with F11 and noticed the FPS had exploded into the 200+ the settings had somehow reverted to unlimited so I changed it back to max 60FPS, don’t know if this is the reason for my problem or not but 200+FPS spikes is definetly not normal.
Would be fantastic to hear anything about this at all, I have no idea what to do about it at all and it almost makes me not want to log in anymore…
It’s not that I have anything against town clothes I’d just like that system rather than transmuting gear with stones, the way it is you need multiple sets of gear to have multiple costume sets don’t like that it’s just not very practical.
As for people running round in their underwear well they aren’t now and this way they wouldn’t either, unless of course they are not wearing gear the default wouldn’t be naked if your costume panel is empty then you’d simple have the looks of the gear you have equipped.
Like the title says I would like the town clothes removed entirely since pretty much noone uses them anyway and instead have that entire panel be turned into a costume panel where you equip the gear with the look you want in a similar fashion to many other games (or town clothes for that matter), transmutation stones could instead be used to activate said panel set and the option for multiple sets could be availible for purchase in the gem store to open additional costume panels.
I think this is a far better system and for nerds like me that like to have multiple sets to fit the zone I am in this is works much better.

And again and again…
How do you generate a log? this is starting to make the game unplayable…
Just happened in the zone south of Lion’s Arch so guess i can strike that it’s only in WvW then…
I am having the same thing as Max, it started after the fractals patch sometime, and appears to only happen in WvW for me, but yes black screen with sound still running I can still open the options panel via F11 when this happens but can’t get back into the game and have to shut it down with alt+F4 or in the taskmanager and relog
I had this happen yesterday, same thing I have not installed anything new, and today I had my screen go black 3 times.
Never had any issues since launch before.
