This was a lot of fun – was able to play with a mix of new and experienced players. We ended up making it into the fourth round or so, knocked into loser’s by Wakkey’s team and eliminated inloser’s by Phanta’s team.

I noticed from the last lb change it’s easier to lose points in the lb.
Problems are two:
1) LB is now corrupted because there are people who gained hundred of points in the first week with the old system.
2) At the beginning of the season if you have an average/good mmr instead of bad mmr, you’re in a bad spot because queue length punishes you in relation on games / hour. And we see how the alternative to give the same MMR for all at beginning created a lot of issues in quality match, really worst than now. So i dunno honestly how to solve this issue.

It’s a cool idea, basically a reward track only for “pure” pvp players, so you don’t need to waste time in salvage blu/green stuff if you’re not interested in pve/www environment.
What it could contain?
- wallet currencies (for example it misses a reward track for karma or fractal relics).
- crafting materials (easy to store with the deposit all button)
- no blue/green stuff
- chance for rare/exotic items (you can sell directly them on the bltc)
- 20 slot bags
- limited finishers
- other items only for pvp (ex. potion of pvp reward, CA tokens).
Maybe with HoT, a Stronghold reward track for “pure” pvp players.

I think we need to see how specializations will work, in the anet idea, they should really differentiate professions, so i think their goal will be add more specializations to actual profs instead od adding new profs.
Specializations could add a lot of diversity in the game.
It’s not easy find a solution when the queue is shared, because there are different interests
There are people who want to go only solo or duo and they want to compete for the leaderboard and there are people who want to play only in a team and they don’t accept there are soloers who grind hundreds of games and are above them in leaderboard.
Engi turrets hands down.
In an unorganized environment (basically 99% of games) is really kitten.
Yes of course, Top25 players will receive a mini llama too.
Can you release an officiale table to understand better odds – score, because it’s not very clear in this way.
1. Let us do something while queuing.
2. Leaderboard on MMR or games cap or something requires not extreme brainless grinding but promote skill level. League Seasons.
3. Faster balance patch (2 months max).

I’d start to change 2 things with engi turret:
- like the old ranger pet, engi shouldn’t be in one side of the map and turrets do damage on the other side.
- some conditions (like burning/vulnerability/confusion) should affect turrets.
So it should be win 1 and never lose and your the best? please. If elo is way to do it the make a minimum number of ranked matches like about 1-3 thousand, none of the couple hundred games and claiming to be number 1. of course matchmaking will have to be dropped currently it matches to keep you at 50%. So number one would be to eliminate that.
I’m not saying it was a good thing people with 100 matches ot less were the number 1
But i think it’s possible find a good compromise between play 12 hours for 2 months and just grinding (doesn’t matter if you’re good or not) and play 2 hours in the entire season and keep you top5 position.
Honestly “effort” should be the skill to be better than your opponent, not having 12 hours + day for 2 months to reach the higher lb tier.
Basically you can instantly schedule what your placement will be at the end of the season if you know your average games/daily.
I’m really curious if these guys will keep this average of 40+ games/day for 2 months or they will collapse before the end of the season.
It’s not healthy at all
Probably a good way it would officially support ingame direct voip free application like Curse Voice.
At least they don’t spend resources to build something already exists (and it works well).

You need to realize that “good” players are really a minority and the “good” players covering the entire 24h in every match 5vs5 is not really big, because the actual spvp population is small.
We say many many times Conquest hasn’t PUG friendly mechanics (one of the main reason because Stronghold will be more PUG friendly) so, matching some “good” player with some “bad” player is inevitable, if you don’t want an infinite queue.
Matchmagking does what it can do, small spvp population (expecially good players) doesn’t help at all.
BTW i remember a lot of compliants about the old leaderboard so i realize this is a Anet tactic to give us something worst to appreciate the old leaderboard.
Honestly i think the issue with the actual LB system is much worst than Match up issues.

I’d like to see a different tdm map with more open space and secondary mechanic like special buff q3 arena style (more armor/more damage/inv. for few secs,/special effects etc.)
And i hope with HoT anet can create a different queue for stronghold/tdm and conquest.

Mastery Systems are only for PVE
I agree 2 months are too much, but the alternative now would be off-season after 1 month (where lb is really useless).
I really think the next season will be with HoT (q3). I hope in a league season, separated queue for stronghold and each game mode and not super grind leaderboard (pretty curious how guild lb fits in the system).

There needs to be a direct connection between a player’s MMR and their placing in the leaderboards. I suggest dividing the current leaderboard into different sections based on MMR. In this way you need a certain MMR to be ranked at a certain division of the leaderboard. This way we won’t have people with low MMR on top of the leaderboard.

Or you could retweak the points rewarded for wins and points lost on losses. You should always lose points on a defeat, how many could still be dictated by chance of victory.

Indeed, I agree 100% the actual leaderboard is pure trash&grinding so it needs to be fixed (and honestly in 2 months since the last season, i hoped in a more effort&fantasy from Anet devs, basically nothing has changed for lb).
But the old leaderboard had many issues, besides the “i go afk for ages and come back #1” there were:
1). Too much volatility. Basically you went up & down with a lot of positions and it wasn’t clear what was the distance between players
2) Too easy to exploit. And if you have a fixed decay, is not hard for people who get a lucky strike to keep an high position with few games (for example 1 game every 2 days)
3). If you don’t face (for example for different time play) people above your position, you don’t gain positions and you risk to lose more positions. This is a big issue, considering Top50 most of all.
Honestly i’d prefere a score system leaderboard (it is more clear the distance between players) with a number of cap matches….I mean you know, in every sport league competition, teams play the same number of matches and the competions is fair, i don’t see why can’t be the same

I suggested to cap the number of matches for season in an old topic.
There is no way to compete with people who play 40 games/daily
And it doesn’t matter if they are bad or not, they ’ll win
This thing kills people at beginning, they simply won’t play the season (or they’ll play very few games) because they already know they don’t have this insane time to play and try to be competitive.
I’m really sad Anet changed basically nothing for the Second Season Test in leaderboard.

Speaking about Leaderboard, dunno, but this test season seems to be really rushed, i have many doubts something has changed, basically always appears to be the same.
There is a strong lack in communication here, and probably basically too few changes from the last Season Test.
An official answer about what is really changed, it would be great.

In general i don’t think it’s great to start a new season without knowing the new leaderboard rules.
I think they probably changed points for win/loses but it’s only a supposition.
Range needs to be fixed.

I can feel your pain Harvest, and probably you’re right about bad ingame communication by Anet about Start/end Season, but complaining now about rewards for off-season is really useless.
I only suggest you to read website/forum/twitter/reddit in the future :\
Dunno, probably Anet could use a special buff for pvp (similar to call of the Mist) during the season + meta event title to advertise better when season starts and ends.
It’s a test we know, but probably a better communication ingame would be fine (like esl tournament or wts).
There are 3 elements you can add to llama
-bow tie
-monocle
-top hat
So i think you’ll need multiple mini llamas to get a complete mini llama (to achieve in different seasons).
Probably there will be different recipes in the mystic forge.
Btw these are only suppositions.
I remember I suggested this Mini-pet evolution system like reward in an old spvp topic, and i’m happy Anet likes and introduces this system (we have other examples in progression for items in pve like Fractal backpiece and Mawdrey, and are both very good examples in item progression). It motivates to partecipate in more spvp seasons and compete to be placed in a top500 leaderboard everytime.
In general i’d like to see more rewards for spvp seasons but it’s a little improvement from the other Season test.

Btw there is a progression system linked to this mini-pet. It means this llama is an evolution of a basic llama version, probably you’ll need to be classified in top500 in more seasons to get this.

In general i like the progression sytem linked to items (like Fractal back or Mawdrey), I suggested this mini pet- evolution with Mystic forge in a old spvp topic, and i’m happy Anet likes and introduces this system. I’d like to see more rewards for spvp season too.

When Anet removed to Elisir – R the chance to be a stun break, it disappeared from any engi meta build.
It would be the same.
The progression system on mini pet is interesting like reward, but i agree with the general conensus, there are too few rewards linked to final positions, we need more.
And we need more details about how leaderboard will work, it’s not really clear.
No gems for sab, i’ve already bought the infinite coin and it’s more than 1 year i can’t use it.
World 1 + 2 + 3 and Make it a permanent content.

Probably they are working on difference system to garantee HoM rewards who has the right points (legitimately) to get these.
Dunno if technically a roll back (to erase titles/ap) is possible, anet evaluate this for sure.
Banning people is impossible because hundreds of players didn’t know about this bug and simply they were creating a new character for multiple reasons.
I think Anet will have an hard work to balance classes with specializations with HoT.
I only hope in frequent balance patches (at least 1-2 months).
