Same here, i was recreating a new character and when i completed the story i got many hom achievements. I was really surprised and of course it wasn’t intended, I imagine a lot of people had the same issue.

Good topic i agree with OP, basically there is no reason to go in unranked/ranked now for veteran players, solo or with a team.
My priorities
1. Leaderboard improvement. How it is now, it’s useless 100%. The old leaderboard in comparison was really better because it showed better the player skill level (but it had other issues). It needs a rework to show better progression in skill and not only in time grinding.
2. Rewards. Always the same problem. I think Seasons are the way to go but rewards need to be better than Test Season. We did a lot of examples in old topic.
3. Stuck in the Mist while queing. Another big issue that needs to be addressed.
4. Different roster size against each other. Another big issue that has important extremes, like soloqueue vs full preamde. I hope more players with HoT can invite Anet to use hard filters to match compatible rostersize how we can suggested in other topics.
Basically this, we don’t forget a too slow balance meta changes and pls split queues with Stronghold and other gamemodes with HoT.
I dunno, it’s weird, the majority of teleports work in the same way, there are less teleports in the first ledge on khylo from some position (you can teleport on the roof) but u get the message if you can’t teleport so you don’t waste initiative/utility.
Infiltrator’s strike works well and thief can teleport on you without LoS, there are other weird teleports like a temple in temple, where you can teleport on left ledge but not on right ledge (wut??) or legacy quarry where you can teleport on the ledge from some position but not other position really closed, and probably other stuff i didn’t try.
I dunno honestly if it’s intended or not.

It sounds really really fun and interesting, i only hope you can design very good personal rewards.
I think bad Leaderboard and Stuck on the Mist while queing are the main issues right now.
One thing i think it would be interesting, speaking about ranked queue, if you can’t avoid at all the issue soloquers vs premade, i’d like to see stats about roster rumber for everyone.
I mean like a simple pie chart when you find stats about how many times you joined solo/duo/trio/4 men/full team on total matches (for example 50% solo, 20% duo, 30% trio )
I think this stat, correlated to your rank position in a “no grind leaderboard” (or how we suggested many times, with a cap of matches number) can give a good value about the player skill.
I’d rework every IA builds in support build like banner warrior (with something unique for every class)
No Damage/Condis from IA.

Uhm…i find really wierd Anet wants to change how vertical teleport works. I remember when they broke illusionary leap in a patch and many other vertical teleport and community wasn’t happy with this this decision. They reverted that change and imho they did a good decision.
So i dunno, this timing sounds really weird.
Honestly i find weird some teleports (like guardian teleport and Infiltrator’s strike) can work without loS but the others are fine imho.
We’ll see.

1) pvp dailies (in general) are fine and potion reward is fine
2) Make them as general as possible. Don’t force behaviour or professions.

I tried today but i had 170 ms in a best scenario. Probably not the best weekend to do this test, i think i’ll try in a few days and a different times.
I’d like to know how much phantaram or hibify can ping in eu because you really need a ninja connection to have an acceptable delay.

According with Collin said in various interviews, it will be the next step after the Pax East Demo (probably very close). The entire process, until HoT Release will be: pax East Demo —> closed beta --> open beta —> release date.
I’m just curious if we will able to apply like EOTM beta or there is a closed list with people already chosen by Anet or just RNG.

Yeah but don’t confuse “fun” with main issues of the game. There are critical issues, designed to be strong incentives to play, that simply don’t work.
Leaderboard & rewards for veteran players (linked to the leaderboard) are the main issues.
I have the same feeling.
I want to add other 2 important aspects:
1 – Can’t do nothing while queueing. It’s a main issue imho, and they need to fix it. There are different solutions, but we need a change.
2_ HoT. The expansion will change A LOT this game, new specs, new prof, new game mode (and i hope they can separate the queues). So Playing now a game with basically no incentives, knowing in a few months everything will be different, is not really useful.
In general, i think priority should be concentrated on leaderboard rework (with seasons) and unlocking the Mist.
And of course, split the queues with HoT.
HoT is an expansion, it’s the perfect time to do this move because a lot of people will come back and a lot of new players will buy the expansion and the game. It’s time to not make the same mistake anet did 3 years ago, basically launching the spvp side with a really poor structure.
Now the game is more mature, better rewards, better structure and finally 3 game modes. It’s the right time to let this game to grow. With separate queues anet will have better data to understand favourite players game mode, and release more different maps (not only conquest) if people like the game mode.Let’s say it doesn’t though. The hype train from an expansion will only exist for so long and as we’ve seen, there have been periods of little change where numbers might be dropping off. If this does cause slower queue times, do you think it’s still worth it?
Yes, of course. Mainly because the alternative to force people to play what They dont’t want to play is worst.
Why people should’t play a particular game mode?
Think about tdm, courtyard is not really a great map but having it in a separate queue could give good feedbacks to Anet and improve the map or add different tdm maps (like for example with more open space and secondary mechanic like buff quake arena style) if They see people like to play tdm (They will have better data to see how many people like a game mode) Or for example, adapting the roster size for 1vs1, 2vs2 and 3vs3 for tdm only.
And you can do the same thing with every game mode.
If you have a long queue on a game mode you have the option to change the queue. With an unique queue behind a rng sysyem, you don’t have this option.
And as i said, if anet improves the Mist and give the chance to do something else while queuing, is not a big issue in every case.

The issue is to force people to play what they don’t want to play for many reasons (because they don’t like the game mode, they don’t have the setup for a specific game mode etc. )
A build template can’t solve the issue, it can help the entire game but the issue is another.

Yes, indeed. Simply reorganizing the UI, when a player clicks on Unranked/Ranked, they can choose the game mode. The remaining is the same. Of course no map selection for TDM and Stronghold because (for now) there is only 1 map. And for Practice too, the majority of conquest servers are empty o with really few people, so simply convert any of them in Stronghold and TDM
- Would you be okay with TDM maps being in this separate queue? I’ve always found that certain builds in Conquest simply don’t work well in TDM so I have to quickly change my build to something else. Stronghold, as it has no points, seems like it would fit better.
Yes, every game mode deserves their queue. Conquest, Stronghold and TDM.

I agree with roy, i gave the same advice about cap matches during the season and mantain a points system.
I also really like to use mmr like tie break.
It’s very hard to understand complitely the profession because we miss 2 more trait lines/other weapons and legends.
In general yes, it seems revenant lacks in mobility and their sustain depends or their conditions management and direct damage mitigation through Retribution traits and heals.
But we don’t have the complete scenario.
In general it seems really interesting.
rev class isint that good, not sure if u guys noticed but the class had 0 mobility skills. sure its cool and stuff but if u cant escape from a fight its not that useful unless its super ttanky or has kiting abilities like an engi.

It’s more a leaderboard and an off-season fault.
Honestly dunno, i think it’s very important to understand which specs will have this new stuff/cd/length ecc.
Not every prof/build has huge boon removal or condi clean, so i think we need more infos.
Slow and resistance seem really interesting, can be removed/healed and give an idea to have a big impact in many situations (first of all on a downed player situation).
Berserker stance is not a great design for sure, there is not a counterplay but was nerfed (3 adrenaline bars instead of 5) and it’s time limited (8-10s).
Diamond skin is worst, no counter play against a condi pure build, basically useless in teamfight.
Automated response was nerfed not really strong now.
This is an important issue and i’m pretty sure you have segnalated to split queues with strongold (and dm) in HoT release. Super mega important!

They make it sound very snazzy and impressive, but if you think about it they are just describing your average GW2 class. All of them have unique mechanics like this, just different.
But granted, there is a chance that it will be hidously OP, lol.

Of course it’s a provocation, but i’m pretty sure topic like that will pop up after the HoT Release
Basically It seems a thief initiative mechanic improved and moved to utility instead of weapons skill + unique mechanics.
We don’t see the entire utility and weapons but there are already things really interesting like anti-projectile skill and a new way to manage conditions (it seems really strong).
BTW in general my only hope is linked to Balance Frequency it will be very important after the HoT release to give us a decent general balance.
In general i think this new prof will be a must.

Probably HoT will be released in q3, so i think March/April are perfects to release SaB again.

The issue is always the same, people need to play what they want and don’t be forced to play what they don’t want.
TDM deserves his own queue like stronhold and Conquest. Now we don’t have a great map for DM but if people are interested to play this game mode Anet could add better maps (more open space) with secondary mechanic (for example improvement buff or other stuff).
If DM doesn’t go behind a RNG option like now, Anet has a better data to understand how many people are really interested about this game mode.
And maybe it would be possible to modify the matchmaking, creating match up not only for 5vs5 but also for different numbers (1vs1, 2vs2, etc.)

I voted yes, but I’d actually prefer if they just gave us more stuff do to in the Mists instead. Crafting stations, Mystic forge, that sort of thing.
A couple 1v1 arenas like the upper level of Crown Pavilion would be neat too.
Same or at least the chance to join custom arenas or practice, waiting for a unranked/ranked queue.
