I’m using GS/ Sword and Pistol and change to Focus every so often for PVE play, only level 50 so not too worried about builds yet.
Have a play around with all the weapons and find which suits you more
I’ve been getting ruined ore and logs for a couple months now and all I carry is Ori gathering gear, I’m not sure if its actually affecting the amount I’m harvesting from nodes at all though.
Capturing Supply Camps, killing Dolyaks and just being in the capture circle of a tower cap will give you WXP, not too sure about killing/capping Sentries.
Without going too far into detail, The ‘Trinity’ of other games has been dumped with GW2, theres no specific damage dealers/healers/tanks anymore, every profession can do whatever it wants!
Elementalist is a great class but I’d advise learning game mechanics on a Guardian/Ranger first.. Remember to use that dodge key often!
As previously said nobody should be asking you to play a specific role, people often have suggestions for utility skills to make a dungeon easier though.
I quite often do dungeons with an Engi friend who runs with grenades, works wonders!
Daily Achievements can be viewed by pressing ‘h’ then looking at the Achievements tab at the bottom, do complete a daily you must do 5 of the things in there like crafter, gatherer, ascalonian killer ect ect, it changes daily.
For daily rewards you get a Mystic coin, a jug of karma (4.5k karma) a small amount of gold and some experience, totally worth doing and doesn’t take too long!
I’m pretty happy about this patch too, for weeks I’ve been thinking how bad can Anet kitten up WvW by turning culling off!
The WXP and rankings system is a nice little touch to give players a slight sense of progression, albeit that the abilities could do with a little touchup.
Mesmer quickness was only a matter of time before it got nerfed, plus they did get a GS buff.
Had some really epic fights tonight, nice threeway in GH garrison against a good 30-40 from each server there, sure in massive fights its more like Frames Per Minute but thats they way its always been!
Ty Anet!.. some new gear skins would be nice though!
I’ve been on Gunnar’s since launch, probably 2 or 3 times I’ve seen a few eastern European people talking in /Map, you dismissed EU servers too quickly.

I use the Cyborg Rat 3, its my first ‘gaming mouse’ only has two extra buttons on it but it works great
Despite it looking like a Transformer it actually fits the hand really well!

My main suggestion is to find a friendly Guild, a few decent people to talk to can make a game so much better!

It features bosses with highest hp ingame that have no mechanics. Some of the bosses even do so little damage you dont have to dodge at all and can alt tab with autoattack going for 5 minutes.
This is more then a little exaggerated, while the bosses don’t have a great deal of mechanics their damage can level a party that is ‘alt tabbed’ or doesn’t know what its doing.
With a decent team – Path 1 20mins, Path 2 30-40 mins and path 3 30 mins.

With an ele main i decided to make a mesmer alt, really enjoying it atm! its not necessarily easy to play! a few of the utility skills make you pretty good to have in a wvw party and the skill animations look great
I also have level 80 warrior and guardian alts that barely get used because the gameplay seems so slow compared to ele.
1.4k hours here, 3 level 80’s and a level 50. currently I’m crawling through dungeons and farming events to craft Vision of the Mists, other times I’m helping Guildies with stuff (A decent Guild has definitely kept my attention to the game) and I WvW alot too, never a quiet moment!
Looks like a really nice build you have there, was thinking about going for a staff/sword-pistol shatter build.. but i love the GS too much!

I’m an ele.. I see the spawning weapon as free game for others! when you cast a spawn skill the caster gets one automatically, I think you just met a kitten ele.
My mains an ele D/D, mostly do WvW.. currently running a 10/20/10/10/20 PVT build with runes of the earth, I do ridiculously well diving around inside enemy zergs and I switch to ‘Zerker trinkets for small scale fights also switch to staff for tower defence. Don’t discount your ele just yet! They are one of the best WvW classes in the game
My first character was a Guardian, great for learning when to dodge, enemy animations and game mechanics on.
Can see Ranger also being a good starting place because of the pet tanking NPC’s.
Elementalist – my main, Dies a ridiculous amount in early PVE, is very squishy until you have enough trait points to build it right and requires a ton of kiting enemies.
Communicate, evaluate and adapt.
Falling back from a bigger/more organized force doesn’t make you a bad Commander… As long as you have another plan to wipe them with!
Mesmer’s are currently a Commanders best friend, Veil, Portal and Time Warp can be key to winning a large battle.
Supplies are the life blood of WvW, keep those camps upgraded and your Yak’s alive.
One more thing.. if leading a random zerg anytime, expect at least half of them to not listen to a word you say, keep your calm and try look like you know what your doing! Good luck
Have you had map rewards for every area?
Mouse hovering over each separate area’s title on world map will give you an overview of the poi/heart/vista/skill count.
Failing that you could map to each area and double check what you’ve unlocked against the wiki http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explore
If that doesn’t help I’d suggest filing a bug report.
1 – your levelling a lot faster then I did! theres some truly amazing places to see and things to do when exploring Tyria, the great thing about solo levelling is that you can explore them all at your own pace
Crafting is a great way to level, but can be costly without much of a return.
2 – a lot of people are ‘farming’ event chains now to get rare drops ect, the experience for group events is pretty awesome to level with, as said before ask in map if anyone wants a explorer party
3 – Which server are you on? some Guilds recruit in Lion’s Arch, its a little hit and miss if you find a non social one of a ‘forever’ Guild though.
D/D makes a great Commander template, just got to be careful to not outrun your own zerg! can’t comment too much about Mesmer as Commander but i view Ele as more versatile and survivable.
I run 10/20/10/10/20 with PVT armor, works great with ’zerker trinkets for small scale roaming in wvw and pve dungeons.
I often switch to PVT Valkrie trinkets and dive around inside enemy zergs causing trouble
Guild bounty NPC’s need to scale to the amount of players taking part in the bounty, as it is Bounty’s are near impossible for small guilds.
I am a member of a small (20ish) people Guild, tonight we attempted the guild bounty with 6 people – all the online members, we received Diplomat Tarban and Bookworm Bwikki.
We couldn’t get Bookwork under 60% health before wiping and boss resetting, we moved to Diplomat Tarban to try and atleast get a chest from 2 hours effort finding NPC’s and organizing Guild members and failed the Bounty via timer instead.
Bounty NPC’s need to scale to the amount of people near them and not always be of Champion/Legendary difficulty.
Mesmers are probably the most broken class in game and feature a steep learning curve, can’t say too much about Necro’s but you should just play and have fun worry about builds later when you get high level!
Did Tier1 Bounty last night, Guildies and myself received credit for 1 of the 2 kills, even if we were involved in both – The guild receives the merits after both NPC’s are dealt with.
Had 2 level 80 Rares from it, 50silver and i can’t remember about exp/karma
I try land Churning Earth pretty often.. usually with Dire results! (to me)
considering we have 2KD’s, cripples, slows and aura’s to mess everyone up.. D/D is the perfect class to dive around inside a zerg with.
Sometimes i manage to out maneuver the enemy targeting and can survive for a couple mins before mist forming out, I’m not traditional bunker either.
I only really use staff for defending towers/keeps though, it is pretty OP in zerg vs zerg but if your zerg starts losing.. expect to go down with the ship.
Dive straight in to enemy zerg, earthquake – updraft – ring of fire – burning speed – remove your conditions – mist form.. run back to the safety of friendly zerg
Have a look at Superior runes of the earth, their 6th ability grants another Aura at low health.. can be a lifesaver if you are traited for Auras and the toughness they provide is great too!
Agreed, coming from a small guild with barely any Influence – we’ve been talking about pooling our gold and buying Influence to unlock the first mission.. but what about the next one/s?
At least the influence costs should scale with Guild size, Atm this is stopping smaller Guilds experiencing the new content.
