It’s been well over a year since we’ve been having these problems and this still hasn’t even been addressed…

We used to hold “Hide-and Seek” events with the guild in which everyone would find a hiding space and then we would start with one seeker and everyone who would get caught would also become a seeker.

I would like to host our first full 5 v 5 Elementalist Skirmish over the next weekend.
Who would be interested in something like that?

Spirit Rangers might get fixed, but Phantasm Mesmers will always be the OP Dueling class.

I solo’ed the Hybrid with my own Fresh Air/PvE build.

It’s more like if ANet reduced everyone’s level down to 60 and kept the level 80 content the same; so activities you should have had access to in the first place are now out of your reach.

Lots of classes have invulnerability/stability stomps.

I don’t know where you got your idea that skills should be offensive or defensive.
Mist form is a utility skill made to be utilized.

You could do what TNO does and higher on a digital artist to create original fan art for your guild and members and pay them in gold. To give you an idea, TNO pays 8drawr (now inactive) 100g per hour-long concept piece. That’s what I was offered by them as well. If your guild has the cash from taxes or whatever, I’d say it’s definitely worth it to get your name out there and become more than “just a guild”.

I like this idea, I might implement this to work with our guild website, but I don’t see the practical application for something like that (especially for that price).

I feel like I have reached a block for my guild.
I feel like I have provided my guild with everything I can think of; as a guild leader this is a very uncomfortable feeling.

1. We are maxed out on Guild Merits.
2. We can have all the guild buffs up all the time.
3. We have an extremely active Teamspeak Community; often pushing 50+ members online at a time.
4. We host public guild missions for all commendations multiple times a week for multiple time zones. (We get groups of 120+ coming to our guild missions right at reset)
5. We organize our server’s Tequatl kill (it used to be daily until last week, now it is weekly).
6. We have a very active PvP community with multiple PvP teams going at a time.
7. We have an establishing WvW community; we have many experienced WvW commanders who work with my members to teach them tactics.
8. Our website is being custom built right now by a very experienced programmer.
9. We have a guild minecraft server up and running with 10-15 active players.
10. We have regular events and fun things that we do together.
11. We have days in which we take breaks from Guild Wars and play another game together.
12. We never run out of dungeons to run.
13. We have our own guild custom arena which is currently a PvP 1 v 1 dueling arena.

We are currently doing this with 150 active members.

What else can I provide to my guildies to make our community a better place?
What other things can I do with my guildies that we don’t do already?
Are there ideas of any events or fun activities I can do with my guildies?

Dragonbrand has a great PvE community…

No one said anything about the Fractal Staff which looks amazing!

In regards to Powerful Aura , what effects share an aura are not uniform. If I’m remembering correctly this does not apply to aura’s generated through passive effects such as Tempest Defense and the 6th bonus of Runes of Earth and also does not work with combo effects. It does, however, work with Fire’s Embrace.

Should Powerful Aura as a grandmaster trait warrant working with these other auras?

Would it be horribly overpowered if it was able to work with all auras?

I think that powerful auras should work with ALL auras and not just those you get from your skills/traits. This would make it much more formidable to build around and make it worthy of being a grand master trait.

I’d be happy to teach Elementalist to the best of my abilities.
I have started up my own guild E L Etism (hehe get it?) to help people learn how to play elementalist and develop and theorycraft new builds!

I’d assume that the best fix is getting MORE people into PvP!

The ONLY commanding I do is with my guild; all organized on Teamspeak. The kind of fighting we do is focused on stealth attacks and flanking; if I do my job right the other zerg is downed before they can do anything.

My heavies know when to charge in front of me and from behind them I am better able to direct them where to go.

The reason I run my zerker ele is because it allows me to have a nice chunk of downed bodies right at the beginning which is a little crucial to our strategy.

I’ve commanded when I was running a glassy spec.
It is more fun and makes you more aggressive which is usually a good thing when commanding.

I love D/D in WvW.
I work as bonus DPS in group fights, I stack a LOT of might, Heal quite a bit, Provide Boons, and have a good amount of mobility and blast finishers.

I recomend taking Cantrip Mastery, Soothing Disruption, and Powerful Auras instead of your current Trait Setup. You’re running 3 Cantrips; the availability of these traits mean the difference between life and death.
Group Aura means area swiftness and fury; it also provides the awesome effects of the aura too!

I’m not much of a PTV fan, I like Clerics armor for bunkering because my Healing Power scales to my team-mates as well and allows me to support them better!

This is a pretty cookie cutter build though, you’ll be fine.

I have planned a tentative workshop date to be announced in the near future!

What kinds of things are you planning for your guild?

Oh, silly me!

The solution to #4 is already built into the MMR System.
Sure they can do this now, but eventually the disparity between their wins/losses will become too big and their MMR will prevent them from getting in matches together. When the MMRs of individuals become more founded and we start getting more people queuing, this should become a non-issue.

In all seriousness, I’d love if you guys covered TPvP as well because I’ve always felt that’s where Ele’s need serious help (and ideas) rather than WvW where they’ve always done fine.

I’m someone who plays Elementalist exclusively. I have won well over 1000 tournaments, commanded WvW for over a year, ran havoc groups, obtained my Incinerator, and received a personal Fractals level of 50+. I have commanded well over 40 Tequatl raids, organized weekly guild missions, and run speed dungeons clears on a regular basis.

I do each of these things to the best of my abilities and I have determined the most optimal builds (for my playstyle) for each one of these activities and I’m looking forward to see the builds other people run for their different activites!

2 Hours till guild missions time!

Our guild missions consist of a 150 person zerg.
We have 250/250 Guild Merits, so what we do is we activate a t3, and get everyone to go to the easiest champion to find.

Within a minute we usually find him… 150 people split up pretty easilly :P

Then we link the closest waypoint and wait 2-3 minutes for everyone to show up.
And then we insta-kill him for quick and easy guild commendations!

Hey there everyone!
[GASM] hosts public guild missions at 5PM PST on Saturdays.
This will be right on the reset, so that everyone will get guild commendations from these missions!

We do Bounty/Rush/Challenge/Puzzle for 6 Guild commendations and 8 Rares/Exotics.

We already have around 120 people who regularly show up to these guild missions!
Teamspeak would be nice!

We do NOT do these guild missions for Merits/we’re already maxed out, so we’re able to do these guild missions as fast as possible (we usually finish all of the within 45 minutes)

We plan on killing Tequatl afterwards too!

My understanding is we just want to gate the number of custom arenas because it’s a non-negligible cost to run. I don’t know if we ever expected this to be a major way to monetize PvP.

Could we get some official (or unofficial, I’m really not that picky) response as to if PvPers will have the ability to purchase and maintain their Custom Arenas without having to go into PvE to get gold?

You have to admit, the dye thing is kind of a kitten way of monetizing PvP! :P

Well, i disagree to an extent. I’m talking more along the lines of wvw. A full dire geared ele, with d/d, is pretty amazing. I can apply every condition available except for fear using runes/sigils.. give me 3 seconds and ill load you up with more condis than a necro could dream of. and i can reapply them really fast, every 10s.

Now, probably matching a necros output of condis, i also have more healing, much much more mobility, and 20k health with 3k armor. condi eles do exist, and theyre good, dont put them down. if youve done a s/d-f condi ele, youve done it wrong obviously.

There is no way you have ever played a necro and make that statement. It is impossible for a elementalist to match a condition necros output. Engineers and Necro’s are on another level when it comes to condi pressure. Necro’s have a signet with 6 conditions 5 with a base duration of 10 secs and 1 condition that lasts for 5(blind). Every rune or sigil you can put on necro can put on and necro’s condition duration trait line is pretty good and their condition damage line is pretty awesome unlike eles earth and fire lines.

I play both classes though ele is my main I can kill people in less than 10 seconds on my condition necro and that burst is back ready again easily in another 15 seconds.

@ Game Slayer: As I said, condi ele’s can’t hope to match condi <insert other class here>, so don’t even try. Ele’s have good burst, so capitalize on that. This is talking PvP/WvW, since it seems you agree with me that condi ele in PvE is simply ridiculous.

Condi ele in pve is redundant. dont you dare under-estimate a condi ele in wvw. in spvp its simply o-kay.

Im on borlis pass, so , if its possible, ill duel anyone who thinks condi ele is bad. ive won the last 98/100 duels, all from different people. (ofc i BS’ed the number, but i cant honestly recall the last time i lost in a 1v1)

But if you say a condi ele in wvw is bad…. or cant do what im telling you it can do… you havent tried hard enough with the build… nor have you seen a condi ele.

You are using perplexity runes. Prepare the oncoming kitten from ele’s that died from perplexity.

The torment sigil has its own ICD atm I believe so you could use another on crit sigil and they wouldn’t affect each o ther. Depending on how hard perplexity is nerfed I may try scavenger runes or orrian.

but its AoE and i often get two torment stacks due to 7scd and condi duration. its definately a cover condi, no doubt, but it helps a lot. consider it the other sigil is doom btw, which isnt a on crit sigil, so its not shared. you could use geomancy, whatever floats your boat

And thats exactly one of the reasons that we need a guild which does this kind of thing!

I didn’t expect a mesmer to be able to bunker either, but my guild-member found a bunker spec which can literally bunker 5 people on a point.
I have learned not to count anything out, people are creative and those are the kind of people I would like to be working with.

No, this was so they can add new game modes to the game (CTF, Deathmatch, ect.)

we’ve got to convince these people that stupid stuff like condi ele just doesnt work. in a pve context, I’ll be happy to prove that both the s/d + lh and the staff metas do higher damage. in a pvp context, you’ll never be able to match the condi damage of other classes (think necro), so dont even try.

I don’t agree with this,
Our purpose would be to explore different possibilities for the elementalist and work together to optimize and theorycraft to come up with different effective ways to play with yourself.
We’re not here to prove that Elementalists are underpowered or broken, we’re here to show everyone that Elementalists are very much playable to a very high skill level.

From playing my mesmer the bigger problem is minions(namely ranger pets) being able to instinctively lock onto the real mesmer. For example, if a ranger sees a mesmer coming up, just target and click the F1. Your pet will now only attack the real mesmer and go straight for them the second they emerge from stealth even if clones/phantasms are dealing more damage to them. It basically makes it incredibly for rangers to target a mesmer for the rest of the fight.

PvP Finshers are made for PvP, they are made to show your experience in PvP.
If you want PvP finishers, go PvP.
There are finishers you can buy from the Gem Store if you want a nice finisher in PvE.

I haven’t had to play the “find the mesmer game” since ‘94.
It’s second nature to automatically find the real mesmer as soon as he pops out of stealth.

I like the idea of having a trait which gives mesmers the same buffs as the main mesmer.
It could play out pretty interestingly.

I understand the frustration…
Think about it this way though.
Each map requires some bit of hardware on the ANet servers to be running.
I’m not too sure about this, but each custom arena needs a different machine running for it to be going.
That costs money to keep and maintain.
Furthermore, once someone buys a custom arena and they stop playing the game… whats the point in keeping that machine on when it can be used for something else?
This is probably in order to avoid having massive amounts of waste processing over the years and they don’t want to have to deal with having to pick and choose through which servers are active and which ones are inactive because that gets messy.

If that’s the case it’s definitely understandable to a degree, but then why not make it so that the arena stays open for a certain amount of time and if there’s inactivity for a period of … lets say 2 months, then it shuts down. Someone who payed cash for the arena and then had to pay cash every. kitten . month. Shouldn’t have to then pay cash AGAIN to re-open the arena.

Reason for my frustration is that even if that’s true Someone who plays PvE 80% of the time and only dabbles in PvP can better maintain their custom arena than a diehard PvPer. No way that’s fair.

No arguments here,
PvPr’s need a better way to either make gold or gems so that we are able to purchase our custom arenas.
I have to pay 30-50g every 20 days just to keep my Guild PvP Arena up!
That’s more than 1g/day!

Usually when you have an active custom arena there are multiple people who are playing on it.
You could try to have those people chip in as well… but that is still no excuse for the lack of integration for the PvPers.

What do you mean by “Combo Auras”?

I sure as kitten don’t want to play with random people I don’t know!
I’d rather shoot my guildies’ face off with a pistol in Southsun Survival.
It’s much more satisfying when you know them.
