Yeah, I was a bit perplexed on why it was called a dungeon as well. Coming from the dungeon team previously, it really felt more like a boss instance, but I don’t write the patch notes or do the marketing.
I didn’t build the Canach encounters, but I did enjoy them. It’s a neat variation that changes gameplay, and I liked the mechanics. Sure there’s a few things that can be done better (as is with everything), but given the time the designer had to work on the instance, I think he did a great job.
The fights themselves are good (people cry just because it’s not another faceroll boss battle), but they feel like:
“Hey look, here’s a dude, catch him”
“Oh… ok!”
“Good job! Btw there’s another one, catch him too”
“Em… ok…”
Maybe I missed something but there is no story before and between the encounters.
Anet should make something like this ingame after every chapter of LS.
Hey guys, I just launched GW2State which has event maps, boss notification, and most importantly for this thread a single-page status of all the temples on all the servers (updated every 10s). If it doesn’t work, try 5.135.157.160 as the DNS is still propagating.
I’m using a bunch of extra codes as opposed to simply checking for the defense event warmup (e.g. checking if any of the pre-events are active, both defense events for Balthazar/Arah, etc.) so hopefully it will be very accurate.
I’d be very grateful if anyone could PM me if the data is ever incorrect for any location so I can check it out. And if you like it, feel free to tell your friends!

Can’t say for today’s dungeons, but I miss old Arah, where you could jump on the wall north from the starting area and go for Path 1bosses backwards. It didn’t really make runs fasters (I think it even made them longer) but it was lots of fun, especially jumping on walls south of lupi’s arena using an Experimental Teleportation Gun. There probably were groups that could use it to make it 10mins it, but it was the best content (unplanned, lol) I have experienced, with great people around me.
As far as I know, as a mesmer you’ll be welcome in any dungeon party.
(people say that) Mesmer is also very good on WvW and I have fun doing PvE as a mes.
I play Minion Master necro and it’s great for PvE, for PvP condition or power build would be better (not my opinion, I don’t play PvP).

I’m afraid they won’t make new music for old areas because they can’t get money from it. Which is a shame.
It would be nice if they ever made a simple ingame playlist editor with GW2 AND GW1 music. Not a perfect solution to the problem but it’d do the job for a moment.
Yes, it scales with healing. I heal for 297 per pulse, so if I remember it’s 9*297 healing.
IX Blood Magic heals for like 700hp. The great thing about it is that you can enter DS just for a moment and immediately leave it and it’ll heal minions.
2# staff heals for something like 300hp per second.
I also use Dwayna runes, the more regeneration, the better.
All of this with Cleric’s set.
I would also suggest switching XII Death Magic to XI (I never use it but people say it’s good) or take last 10 traits from Death Magic and get more Blood Magic.

By wall of text I mean no formatting that makes the text hard to read, not the length of the text. A few enters would make it better in my opinion.
To explain 20 stacks of vuln from focus its 5 possible bounces, with no other targets nearby it will bounce 5 times on the same target stacking 4 vuln each time. So you get 10 seconds of 20 vul stack at base cond duration.
Sf and fw -> shadow fiend and flesh wurm… I would have imagined if we are talking about them it would be obvious.
About pvp and pve… PvP is integral part of the game to exclude it bluntly from conversation serves no purpose because original poster asked for advice.
I’ll explain why your bone fiend dies. You said you like dagger, that means you run into melee range with all your minions so they all get hammered. If you simply use his active before you reach your target you can always make sure he stays max range.
It can’t bounce 5 times on the same target, or I am doing something wrong. I can make one target get 12 stacks and some regeneration for me or 12 stacks on one enemy and 8 on another.
I was never using abbreviations like sf and fw, that’s why I asked about it.
My minions don’t get hammered because I heal them. If Bone Fiend dies, it’s because some mobs completely ignore me and other minions and start attacking bf, even when it’s on max range.
Yeah, 4# doesn’t heal minions, my bad. Btw. doesn’t it give 12 stacks?
Laugh any time you want, but you didn’t explain why Bone Fiend is that good, I asked about it. If any minion dies because of a mob, it’s always Bone Fiend so I see him as a bad minion. Maybe you just have another experience with it.

We’re talking about PvE, so I don’t understand PvP references.
If 5# removes boons, why isn’t it great at removing boons…? I didn’t say it can be used very often in PvE, but it’s good in what it does.

Bone Fiend is amazing; he has 2x finishers every few seconds.
So I guess I’m the only one that don’t see the power of this minion? We don’t have spammable combo fields so how do these finishers provide any help?

Instead of III Death Magic you can use II if you feel it helps.
Instead of VII Blood Magic you can use VIII if you use Well of Blood.
Like first living story patch with refugees, this one will not show us very much of what’s going on. The more patches are added, the more things will be clear.

Not yet.
I remember times when minions started attacking right after I used any skill on enemy, even if it was 2000 range away from me, 1# dagger attack made them rush on it. No idea why thet changed it.

What? When was Flesh Golem be able to swim???
Some people will tell you to switch to other skills, but if you play necromancer because of the idea of minion mastering (like me), you just need to understand how to use them.
First what you need to know: minions are nothing if you don’t support them. And by supporting I mean healing (2# staff skill and VI Blood Magic trait is great for that) and crowd control skills (3# Death Shroud and 5# staff skills).
For the weapons:
1. Staff – obvious for MMs, marks are just too useful.
2. I use Dagger/Focus. I like the idea of having long range weapon and a melee one.
1# is a great damage dealer,
2# is always cool if you don’t have full hp and don’t want to waste healing skill,
3# may not be that useful in PvE, yet I often use it,
4# CAN HEAL minions, so another supporting skill, why not,
5# removes boons, always cool.
For utilities:
1. Bone Minions: blow them up as soon as you can so you can spawn more for more damage.
2. Bone Fiend: I think it’s terrible and I never use its utility but we have nothing better right now (or forever?)
3. Shadow Fiend: cool damage, blind can sometimes be useful but because of its casting time, you can’t really use it very efficiently.
Healing skill:
I as 80lvl necro use Well of Blood because it heals minions very well with Healing Power gear, but for leveling I was using Blood Fiend. They buffed him recently so it heals better.

What also makes a good boss fight is a unique music during the battle.
SWTOR did quite a good job in creating a feeling of a dynamic world. This may sound stupid but seriously, a few animations for npcs like wandering around, shooting at targets or looking through binoculars made me feel like in Skyrim, which has a great ambient feeling. Add voice quality from GW2 and there you go, great PvE feeling wherever you go. I visited Southsun Cove today and saw some golems building an asura portal. New animations, yay. Too bad they create new ones like one/month, which is not very fast.

I killed the boss in zone 2. When the timer reached 0:00, I died in a swamp below and got teleported to zone 3, where I was still dead.
DS skills should be above the normal UI, just like in the previous version. Now they are too small.

Sweet jesus. I have 500h MM necro, my friend leveled his necro from 1 to 80 using only minions and we both think they are great. Do you use minion traits to make them better? Do you even use healing skills to keep them alive or maybe you think they will do all job for you?

I always use minions in PvE.
Always in dungeons (I mostly do Arah, CoF so can’t speak about other dungeons, and of course I have another build for Lupi).
I was running MM in WvW after release and have never lost 1v1 but it was a time when not many people had exotics.
Minions are useless in 1v1 against anyone that kites. Your minions just run around in circles and never hits the enemy. The only thing that can get them is the flesh golem’s charge. Everything else either doesn’t hit or doesn’t deal much damage.
It’s true that minions’ skills aren’t very good but I disagree with what you said about kitters. 3# dagger skill and the enemy cannot dodge Charge, Bone minions’ booms and other stuff you can put on him.
In zerg vs zerg though, minion aren’t too bad in the chaos IF there weren’t that 10 second delay before they start fighting.
I was using Spectral Grasp to pull the enemy, then Golem’s charge, then 3# dagger. If my minions didn’t eat him, the zerg did it anyway.
I don’t like PvP but if somebody wants to fight minions in 1v1, PM me in game.
I hope when the Elona expansion comes out we do see more of the margonites and maybe get a few events/quests ect to interact with them. I don’t think they will play a huge role but I bet they will be there if the lore writers decide to follow up on all the stories they left open in NF. While he’s not a Margonite, I really reaaallyy hope we get to see Razah again. I do like the idea of the Apostate and Lost leading the margonites to redemption. Kormir stated she was going to undo the mess Abbadon made, not wipe it clean, so maybe she found a way to undo his corruption. Since the gods are gone for now I doubt we’ll ever get to see the new realm but maybe some of the margonites are still lingering around the open world acting as liasons to Kormi and her real? Who knows.
That would be epic to create our own army (like the Pact) of Margonites to fight Palawa or a dragon… Dreams…
I was very disappointed when I finally reached Orr and found a boring zombieland. No dragons vs Pact army fights, just NPC standing still and Risen around.
The only thing we have is hope that Anet will make the atmosphere better…

GW1 minions COULD be cannon fodder.
It doesn’t mean it’s useful.
Effect of Bug:
We do not take Necros with 5 points in the death tree to Arah. Because of the terrible jagged horror. They result in Lupi gaining more stacks because they are in melee range, for lupi to spawn grubs on.
The solution is simple: take necro with main hand dagger which will only attack spawned grubs and locust swarms. Necro doesn’t attack lupi = minions don’t attack lupi.
Would it be possible to make in an MMO a ring of fire attack like this for bosses?
How do you get 30+s from them? I get maybe 3s from a bag of loot and some crap items from the chest.
And I’m not sure what you’re talking about in regards to spectral utilities. Death Shroud just removes the (gain lifeforce when hit) feature from Spectral Armor/Walk but that’s it.

What I meant about spectral utilities is that either in the tool tip or in the Wiki, it mentions that entering DS “removes spectral effects”. That might be interpreted to mean that effects placed on you by, say, Spectral Walk are removed when you enter DS. In fact, the swiftness part of Spectral Walk continues to be on you and to affect you. Only the “gain Life Force on damage” part of Spectral skills are removed. (I guess it’s a specific boon.)
Because the swiftness isn’t a spectral effect.
DOES ANYONE know if DS can be entered at any time, including while incapacitated, while casting/channeling, or while falling? (I believe the Elementalist attunement changes can occur at any time, for example.)
DS is a panic button. Panic buttons can be activated at any time.
DOES ANYONE know how DS works if you take more damage in one hit than your Life Force bar has? Does it remove you from DS and ignore the excess damage, or does the excess damage take off from your HP once you’re out of DS?
If I remember, you lose your HP when out of Life Force.

It doesn’t. If you fall down when in DS and lose all Life Force, you’ll die.
I wear Arah head armor. If I don’t hide it and kill some enemies, my eyes change from green to red. Does anybody know if it’s Arah feature or just a mistake (lol)?
but in the instance that they were freed and moved to control Tyria when the dragons awoke, I could see there being epic battles on the god scale.
An epic god vs. dragon battle is what I wish the most. It would be painful for our PCs but they would make at least a cinematic…
Can’t they just delete Golem Suit and defence golems’ cooldowns and make it even weaker? Also, golem suit should have an option to leave it without destroying it. At least RolePlay asura would have his own golem. Right now golems are just useless.

Dungeon gate is almost always bugged. Why don’t just make it like AC entrance? All you would have to do is to destroy all enemies in your way to the gate.
