I traded around 850k karma from my main + about 5 jugs from dailies and geared up 2 alts with lv80 exotic.
The Orrian boxes are RNG and drop various amounts .
Dont see any major problem with current system; though I would like to see a wider range of stats available on the gear.

The guards reacting would be freaking awesome, but again, would require even more programming… Also, 20 minute downtime for players is somewhat unreasonable XD

Too many duels causing lag in populated areas would be inconsiderate and unreasonable too.

Stop listening to kitten fool suggestions, and develop the game according to Anets original vision.

Too many games in the past have been ruined by devs taking action based on forum QQs . They only represent the "forum community " usually very vocal , and at the end of the day quite fickle.

this was in gw1 but was changed to only work in explorable instances due to exploiting (gambling) in communal outposts.

as long as it’s used properly I don’t see a reason not to.

it’s actually super easy to program. it doesn’t take a day, maybe a few hours max. Anet is just lazy. Also there is no reason to up-scale people in a duel. It’s fun to win as lvl 20 vs lvl 21. You can’t even spec someones armor, how lazy can you be as a company, lol.

Perhaps you should write your own MMO if it’s that easy.

However , back on topic.
I found duelling in other games an annoyance in populated areas. If they do implement it in GW2 there ought to be designated areas (ie Arenas and quieter corners of the maps). Any players duelling in towns and settlements ought to run the risk of some NPC guards spawning to cart them off to the dungeons. There they would either pay a fine (level based) or get a 20minute lockdown in the cells.

Spears. 2h long spears and 1h hunting spears. I’ve been trying to get my Guardian done up like a greek hoplite in golden armor since the beginning. It’s all hopeless without a good spear though. Maybe when Elona is released, the spear will reappear.

Hoplites would be ineffective without a tight formation!

I left Aion after it turned into the sims. Perhaps 3 or 4 years down the road it could be added after other issues have been fixed. Guildhalls would be a better option.

The skills are fine , but for wv3 the weapons could do with a trait buff to put them on a par with other classes.
sPvP and Pve are fine,but a +6%-10% damage trait vs Wv3 PCs would IMO even out the field, and help them fulfill the Scout role better.

Well, as far as I know, Finishing Move brakes Stealth.
If not, user is hacking. Or game engine can’t handle its own features.
I do not wonder.

It’s impossible to target when they attack-hide-attack-hide-attack-hide-finish. This totally negates the downed skills you have.

Being a solo roamer in WvWvW it becomes RvWvW.
Wv3 is by it’s very nature a team game, and one in which a ranger can play a useful part.
If you ever see a solo player guaranteed it’s an unstealthed thief.) and even they are starting to tag team now.

Rangers have the perfect pets! No stepping barefoot in the morning into some kittening kitten kitten.
Vitigis has it right, it’s ll about management. As in the real world it’s the pets owner that needs the training.(and probably the rest of your pug in dungeons),

As for Black Raven , great for vulnerability it can solo any regular mob in Wv3 with 0 BM trait so have no doubt 9k is acheivable in PvP; but for sPvP I prefer spider for CC + a healing pet

go to Nageling in Diessa Plateau. The Giant kills the entire town of NPCs. When you rez them, he kills them again. Repeat. Everyone on every server could easily complete this simply by not killing the giant in nageling.

..and if the giants not up, the nearby ranch has a regular supply of dead ranchers + the worms respawn fast.
If you hate PvE it’s something to do while waiting for Wv3 queue

I guess it depends much on your playstyle. Traps can be useful in PvE ( where enemies are predictable AI mobs), or in sPvP where combat is in a relatively confined area. In Wv3 however they are not much use as situations can change rapidly, especially in higher tier servers. Better to use traits and survival skills that aid mobility evasion and range IMO.

Of course if you don’t use bows you should have rolled Warrior or Thief

IMO a lot of the dis-satisfied Rangers in GW2 are people who have played Ranger/Archer in other games where they are 1 shot monsters; whereas in GW2 it can be hard work to down a player, let alone finish them.

Of course OP is correct about origins of “Ranger” . In Shaiya for example they had Archers , and Rangers were the Light faction Assassin class.

It’s all a case of adapting to what we have, and ever hoping for some small improvements. Not least of those would be dealing with condition removal. 90second CD on Shared Anguish is worse than useless when targeted by multiple enemies

Levellinga Thief in Open World PvE teaches you that, rather harshly. It’s a nightmare to begin with but gets easier as you learn and get skills/traits.

That or frankly, you might just not like this game. Not veryone has the same tastes afterall.

So true, I levelled Thief and Ranger to 80, both with completed story line. All of this was far easier on Ranger.

Also try using your pet to pull enemies, use F3 and switch if its HP is low. Dont just send them in kamikaze

Escape is not an option in Wv3 when targetted by2,3,4,5 etc. players . This is partly because of CD on stun breakers. Even with full set of superior runes of Melandru their effect is minimal (I wonder if they even work!).
Where a thief would simply stealth or a guardian tough it out, the ranger gets left stunlocked.

I would go Precision with, Stat’s from Power Items. Use your Precision Trait line try to have at least 50% critical chance.

I’ve been building my ranger to hit like a mac truck while keeping a good tank and its pretty easy to do.

Problem is it still hits like a Chevette compared to other classes

Greetings all. After reading concerns about the threats of pierce in dungeons, and the desire to have it toggled, I have another suggestion/idea of how it could be managed. A functional item could be made to fit in the unavailable offhand weapon slot when the bow is equipped: arrow heads. There could be different arrows equipped alongside the bow to determine its firing properties. (Ie. Piercing arrow head, Standard(default) arrow head, Ricochet arrow head (bounce to 3 targets like the axe), or other such arrow head equipment to change the properties of how the longbow arrows behave when they hit their mark.

These could be purchasable items available to all rangers over time (In all likelihood you’d start with a default arrow head and have to obtain others through karma purchase or some other method.)

This would probably be the easiest way to default pierce and make room for new traits on our bows whilst still enabling pierce to be “turned on or off” simultaneously.

Now, while arrow heads sound like a generic thing, I’d prefer them to be ranger specific if implemented though. Or at least for the piercing arrow heads to be limited to rangers only. The GW2 statement of what a ranger is made it clear that in addition to the presence of the pet, rangers in this game are supposed to excel at use of bow and arrow.. its pretty disheartening if a thief can use a bow more skillfully/with greater ingenuity than a ranger.

This I like. I’ve always thought a choice of arrows/heads e.g. Bodkin = piercing, Hunting= improved range and accuracy, Fire= less range but burning D.O.T.
I also think arrows should have 50% chance to stun or cripple.

Also… 1500 range would be insane. Shortbow has 300 more range than Thief Shortbow and Longbow has 300 more range than Warrior Longbow. 1500 for all skills would be overkill in many contexts.

Can you run 700m in 2 seconds? No, but in game an opponent can close this distance in that time.
So now tell me which is overkill!
(PS current RL archery world record is 500m by Zak Crawford.)

Wall of text , but basicly +1 as is essential to shoot max damage into zergs.

for wvwvw survivability doesnt count for anything as you’re usually killed by 5 or more enemies ganking you and usually locked down by stuns etc. unable to respond.
Range , speed and evasion OUGHT to be our strengths. In practice they fail us too often.

Sadly all toons are not born equal!

Ranger is possibly the strongest class for PvE. The fact is the bots choice of class in some ways bears (pun intended) this out, but rather than directly combating bots Anet hit us with a shortbow nerf.
For PvP & WvW in particular we need either more damage (considering we have to kill every opponent 2x with downed state and 3x in the case of necros. In that time we are easily overrun by melee);alternatively better kiting ability. More speed when moving backwards would help a great deal.

Considering it’s one of our main defence moves on Longbow. Entangle is pretty useless too for the same reasons.
Quick shot and Lightning reflexes.

Quick shot is ment to be fired while “retreating” so you fire while the enemy is behind you and do a 360 while shooting him. thats why when if you shoot while he is in front of you, you are jumping forward..

Descriptions says “evade backwards” not “Shoot backwards”- so fix description. In any case , you can only fire in the direction you are facing. Believe me I tried it!

A Ranger Skill for viewing through Stealth

I would only be ok with this if the enemy was revealed for 0.5 seconds or less, so they just flash briefly, and the cooldown on the revealing skill had a 45-60 seconds cooldown at least. Also, I do not think this kind of skill should be limited to just the ranger. At least 3 professions should have access to a skill like this, even if it is only through traits.

As to the pet seeing through stealth. This would pretty much destroy stealth completely, as you would have a good enough idea of an enemy’s where abouts and could just lay down AoE’s in front of your pet. Also it’s not difficult to attack with your slot 1 skill where your pet is attacking. So no, I do not agree with this idea at all.

Revealing stealth has not harmed it’s use in other titles; so I don’t see why it should in GW2. I find it unfair that there are 2 classes that have a skill there is no counter to.

[Elementalist] Weapon Swap out of Combat

I posted about this over a month ago. As a staff ele, I need to switch
out to dagger when Im getting to the main zerg in WvW (for Ride the
Lightning). Its a pain opening the inventory and swapping weapons.

When you switch back to your first weapon, the current weapon than goes back
to the first slot in your bags (near the trash drops). That than requires dragging
it back down to the bottom of bags near my other weapons.

Weapon sets would make it so much cleaner.

Strange in GW2 there is no anti stealth skill. Pets ought to be able to sniff them out.

I’ve been having issues with Lightning Reflexes doing nothing lately, and/or getting interrupted. I’m not sure what is going on with that skill. If it keeps up, I’ll have to slot another stun breaker in its place.

Ye I dont mind getting ganked too much , but it’s annoying when you hit all the right buttons and nothing happens. Something you might excuse on a low end rig on dial up, but not on current specs.
