I honestly don’t see how a d/p theif can beat a d/d elemental majority of the time. It just seems d/d elemental is too strong and counterish to theif.
I know a good ele, he can beat the best thieves in the game… easily.
But, if the community here says they should be able too… then.. so be it, but I have to disagree.

Examples:
Black powder + heart seeker = stealth. Can do it three times for 3 stealth procs. This should give 6 stacks of might but it only gives four.
Shadow refuge. Pulses 5 times. Might stacks are delayed(takes about 5 seconds AFTER SR is gone to get 8 stacks), and only gives 8 stacks of might vs 10 stacks of might(if it truly pulses 5 times).
black powder + cluster bomb also does it….delayed and only 2 stack ticks of hidden assassin.
might be other examples.

There are some solo builds and wvw builds that are really powerful, I agree, although every class has cheese builds, and that’s probably what your complaining about.
however your suggestions would destroy the spvp scene for thieves. We have a niche role of high mobility decap and finishing off players(especially d/p), but your changes would completely destroy thieves and there would be no reason to bring one to a team with those changes.
yeah I doubt your a well known pvper. you write:

It honestly not a very good team build. It is a great build for 1v1’s or roaming in wvw, but i would look for a build more oriented towards team play if you want to use it in team or solo queue.
Consider trying a staff greatsword shatter build, or a lockdown build.
can you link a lockdown build? is that just interrupts with sword/pistol?
I was told this build is bad for team queue. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Is it possible to remove the tpvp deserter debuff. My computer simply crashed twice today during matches (due to overheating CPU caused by dust issues, now cleaned out), so its not like I was just leaving or ragequitting (won both those matches as well, even without me being there for 100 points of the match).

If your ranking is so low that people stand next to you on a treb, perhaps you stop using the treb until your ranking gets better.
See that would make sense… if the ranking system didn’t blow. Before they reset things, i hit rank 72. When it was reset, I was defaulted to rank 65%… I CAN NOT GET OUT OF IT.
I can not break 72%.. and its for reasons like this.. just stuck with bad players, and its hard to carry them. Also, at this level, lots of afk’ers too… i think I have a 20% 4 v 5 rate….
i feel the same way. I got to rank 72 during the “pre” reset and I don’t think this was a coincidence. Only the real players played during that time, was playing with guys currently ranked top 100 and holding my own easily. Now i can’t get out of rank 65%….
ive come to accept pvp in this game should not be taken seriously. I feel so much better now.
agreed. from a casual players point of view.. pvp is good. many people playing.
Competitively… not so good. match making in tournament play is very poor…. and there are huge balance issues… not too mention your stuck playing a certain build if you want to do well for some classes, big time FOTM builds in this game.

2 4 v 5, and 1 3 v 5 that I refused to play. forgot debuff was implemented. Now im trolling the forums.
lol, just got dishonorable debuff…. only reason I’m leaving is because its either 4 v 5 or 3 v 5 anyway…. which happened to be about 20% of all my matches.
This game just got REALLY bad.
The whole system is a complete mess. I really hope fixing it is at the top of the dev priority list, because no number of bells, whistles or rewards matter when the matchup is a laugher.
I know that in the last week my personal skill level has improved, I get more kills, I die much less frequently, I hold points — and I’m losing 2/3 of my matches and my rank is dropping to where it was when I started.
I think there’s also some problem where once you get mired near the bottom of the rankings, it’s impossible to get out. I’m going to be paired with people who aren’t really here to PvP pretty much forever now, and at best I’m going to win 50% of my games, and I don’t see how my position is going to improve. I could be wrong about that, though.
agreed man. I achieved rank 72 in November. Now, I’m rank 65%…… and i keep losing because i get stuck with just poor players. Once you get low… your just stuck. Game is just getting bad.

pvp is dead… forever
i went from rank 72.. (avg rank about 250), to now 65%… and its just bad… i don’t want to play the game anymore. The people im getting teamed with are so frekin bad.
i got to rank 72… was between that and 500 up and down probably averaging about rank 250.. now in one day im at rank 69% … i have no kittening clue how this happened…. but now im getting matched with just bad bad players.. its so annoying
i think i dropped like 800 ranks in two days? now getting queued with terrible players….
did they reset something, and i just got bad luck and got queued with bad players (getting tons of rank 1-9 players on my team and good amount of 4 v 5).
I got stuck in this sub 1000 rank for awhile some months back… and the play is just terrible, like it was tonight. Players just doing terrible things, like trying to solo a bunker build when the other node is wide open, and just stupid things.

ive gotten as high as rank 72 with a power build. I can tell you its doable, but any thief worth his weight in salt will take you out of the game completely and you’ll just have to hope that the rest of your team can carry you.
Been running this build for awhile now. Got to rank 72 on solo Q, (now on a losing streak ouch).
You can switch out some traits with others. I would run divinity ruins. With DS trait and divinity ruins you can have 62% crit damage bonus, and 100% crit chance in DS.

So finishing map completion then leaving for good it is.
I feel like anything after hitting lvl 80 is complete and utter horse sheet. It’s almost like there is 2 companies working on this game. A really talented and creative one was responsible for the core game, graphics, lore, exploration, 1-80 content.
And the other worthless, uninspired, kittenty one is responsible for the patches, endgame content and updates.It’s mind-boggling how kittening amazing 1-80 content is, and how kittening unbelievably kittenty everything that comes after is.
This is why warhammer is dead. Awsome game, until end game. Then it blew. No endgame.
Got to say, because I run power axe necro, these “nerfs” do nothing to me. lolol. Love it!!. Buff to chill of death might make it useful.. maybe. So, lrn to play power necro and pvp!!

no. new build coming out. You won’t be able to play until you d/l the new patch, which should be here in 10 minutes or so.
i have so many 4 v 5. AT this point, once its 4 v 5 (whether im winning or losing or on the team with 4 or 5) I simply leave.
People might say “wtf man, why do that, thats poor sportmanship”, but in all honesty, I’m playing this game to have fun. I’d rather go do something else than have to bare through a 4 v 5 match which is never fun (well every once in a while it can be, but 99.9% of the time it isn’t).
not sure, seems like hit or miss. I went from 40% rank (which is bullkitten) to 923 in a week of playing. I was getting good teams who knew what they were doing. now today im back below 80% because every single one of my matches except maybe 2 were 4 v 5 or I had obvious nubs who didn’t know how to play at all… turns out their glory rank was below 5 each time.
Had a lvl 1 necro who had 0 points…. I know individual points don’t mean much… but 0 does say something when hes suppose to be a dps player.
oh yeah.. and the rage quitters who quit when your only down by 30 points.
PVP is dead to me.
And its not so much that I’m going for a high rank.. i don’t care about that. It’s the fact that I’m a decent player, but getting matched up with players below my skill level 90% of the time, and the game is no longer fun. Either its totally one sided 500-100 points, or its just frustrating playing with peeps who have no concept of strategy.

i don’t know depends. Some classes depend on this to win, like theives and ele’s, seems like stick and move concept is what they need to do, which is fine.
I think its strange a full plate armor character such as a warrior can run like hell, just doesn’t make sense, but hey… its a game.
oh, another addition. Total points (rank) lost or gained during a match is a factor of how many players you have for any given amount of time. So, basically, every player contribution to rank points is a factor of the time they were actually in the match and their current rank.
This way, if someone does leave, then the amount of rank lost on the team of 4 is much less(or slightly depending on when they left) and the amount of rank gained by the team of 5 is much less(or slightly less, depending on when they left).
so purposely leaving with 1 point/10 seconds remaining to try to grief the winning team won’t work because with only that little time, not much rank points will be lost by the winning team.
And if a game is on sided from the start, players leaving early is just is a factor of bad match up from the begging, and no one loses much anyway. Oh and there should be a penalty for leaving as well.
I have a better idea… if you don’t click the ready button by the time the initial timer ends(before the 10 sec countdown) you are kicked and someone else is chosen(or accepts first).
Otherwise, why have an “I’m ready button”. This can also function where people have RL stuff to take off before the match starts, and can click not ready and they can be replaced without penalty to anyone.
In addition, if the game goes 20 seconds with someone afk or d/c, then the game should be paused (i.e no one can do anything everyone is immune) until a new person accepts to join match. However, because no one wants to join a 450-100 match on the losing team, then the points of the match should be shown before the new person accepts the queue. If no one is found within 30 seconds, the game continues and the team with 4 is sol.

I have exclusively played solo Q or team Q random, but I am ready to move on and try to get a little more serious with the tpvp. I am available to play 1 am to 4 am CST during weekdays and can play any time during the weekend as long as I have enough time in advance to plan for it.

necro(burst or condition)
mesmer(burst shatter)
engineer(sd burst rifle/HGH elixir condition/ or I can play a bunker engineer, but its been a while)
thief, but I haven’t played that one for awhile.
I’d also be willing to learn another class role if needed.

if you read the forums Anet is keeping a close eye on warriors. While I don’t expect a huge nerf in the next couple of patches, a few things will be toned down slightly and other classes will have a few things toned up slightly. It will take time, balance is not easy in games like this … this isn’t call of duty or halo where everyone has access to same weapons/skills etc. …
I have made a warrior and am running him hot join now. I think I will soon be ready for solo q tpvp.
mm is really op in 1v1, other than that its not that great of a build, so being op in one situation is not really something to complain about, although I understand why it is frustrating… but your a spirit ranger, you pretty much own everything else 1v1.
Don’t worry, every class seems to have its bane, ur notn alone. For mm necros its power well necros, and warrior just destroys everyone.
I agree with many posts. I typically play mesmer, engeineer and necro in pvp, sometimes i do play thief but haven’t lately.
The Good (what you liked about the patch)
-nice QOL for necro changes.
-nice changes to engineer elixirs
-warrior stun builds seemed to have been toned down a little bit
-I think the changes in mesmers were overall good.
The Bad (things about the patch you disliked)
-necro blood magic tree change didn’t really change much in terms of vampiric type builds. It’s nice that anet recognized that it needs something, but reducing bloodthirst from 50% to 20% essentially negated the changes they made, as all the other skills are kinda poor in that tier. I think the real problem is that minon master builds with vampiric abilities would probably be OP with 50% bloodthirst, but it really hurt people who want to run vampiric builds but don’t want to use minions. So maybe up bloodthirst back to 30 or 40% and reduce minion siphoning life a little to compensate.
-warrior passive healing is still ridiculous. A bunker heal warrior can literally stand there and out heal me (almost) without even using a skill(i know, i’m a power necro, but still, they literally almost have to do nothing and they live which shouldn’t be even if they are the hard counter to my build)
The Missing (things you expected from the patch that weren’t there)
-improved targeting, as a player who plays mesmer and also plays against mesmer I have seen both sides the argument. I believe that the targeting system gives mesmer a slightly larger advantage than it should be giving the mesmer. This also applies to necro and ranger who use the full amount of minions/spirits. Sometimes the node is just a cluster F* of pets and spirits and clones and it is too much, especially if they are asura. Target nearest enemy player should target the player, not the minion or spirit. I guess if we have “target nearest enemy” and a separate option for" target nearest enemy player" would help a lot.
-pvp rewards… seriously, i don’t even open chests anymore. I have like 500 unopened chests.
-solo q arena is bad. Too many 4v5, too much unbalance sometimes. I still play because I love pvp, but sometimes its so bad it ruins the game.
I feel the biggest problem with TPVP/SPVP is that there is only one good pvp build per profession. Granted I feel that eng, warrior, mesmer,probably have the most choices of pvp builds(at least 2 viable builds each), there needs to be more ways to play each class. I know this may be a lot to ask, but variety helps keep peoples interest, and right now, its just not there in pvp.
