Why are some people so determined to change the game to reward bad/unskillful play.
Why should ranging at max range have no disadvantages? Can you give me a good reason?

It only took me 5 hours trying over and over to get the illusions on a good RNG and be meaningfull while using a particular trait else they would die. Reasons :
- Terragriff has some damaging aura wrecking everything melee range
- His cleave on “stand still and pulse tendrils” kills the phantasms
- Phantasms try to be in range and thus will attack only when they are in melee range, meaning they will hug the boss and suicide.
- Terragriff runs in a random pattern accros the room, this seconds the range issue on melee phantasms (1). Moreover, terragriff will randomly kill your phantasms by rushing over them without any logical reason as aggro or proximity (2).
- Terragriff takes off and lands randomly near his rush end position, the landing deals damage and kills phantasms
- Phantasms have a value expressed in “damage/duration/cooldown”; in this fight their value depends on RNG (randomly generated numbers, positions of the boss).
Now, remember Hidden Arcana? Here you can’t deny that clones and phantasms die on summon.
Second fight, phantasms are useless even with the trait. Had to use Consummable summons. What is your take on that?
Thanks for linking my video. The point is still valid, these latest episodes have anti clone mechanics. They don’t make the fight unbeatable, they make it frustrating. That’s all, nothing more nothing less. >> I don’t encounter the same problems (gamble against RNG damage) with my warrior for instance.

Shouldn’t have post this here, terrible and clueless players giving useless and out of place advises while remaining off topic (reminder of topic : LS is unfriendly for mesmer mechanic known as illusion summoning).
PSA : I have recorded a 3:00 minute Terragriff kill on Challenge mode. The fight isn’t as much of an issue as Predator (Bees are aoe, invulnerable, eat staff autoattacks, kill everything near the boss + follow you so your summoned duelists or staff clones get killed).

Thanks, being in one of the top speedclear/world record guild didn’t teach me how to play my class, good thing there’s people in this thread giving advice.
It can’t be said for other classes because mesmer is the only one that has 2/5 skills tied to his core mechanic. MM necros don’t have a minion suppon on their staff n°5 for instance.
Enjoyable yes, it was actual fun getting this done. But yet, when i see my illusions die on spawn because the boss has some kittened up aoe aura pulsing around him nonstop it’s depressing.
Don’t cry just because you dont know how to PvE on your mesmer. There are encounters that require ‘out of the box’ thinking, which means you need to swap up your play style to over come programmed AI response.
The Bosses in Glints Layer is a perfect example of this. Phantasm/Clone Mesmers fail here due to the Void bugs. To over come this, become a mantra Mesmer and go Direct Damage instead using Traits and such. I did this encounter using Mantras and while it took longer then I would have liked I did not have any survival/killing issues with the bosses here.
You cant stay static in your builds 100% of the time, become more dynamic and get MORE out of your character by changing your play style to match the encounter types. Its not THAT hard to over come.
wow, are you kittening serious? I pretty much have the fastest mesmer kill on that boss if you take the rng part out. Does it cancel out the problem? No.
Pro tip for all the kittens in this thread : doable =/= enjoyable.
Funny enough, I have every latest achievement done in one go on my channel. It was frustrating and unenjoyable and THIS is what I am trying to say since the start.

Ps wa combined with 1-2 staff ele is bad. Pls dont run this comp ever. 2 eles is fine for might as long as they are not camping staff and know how to use sd or df or sf. I don’t understand why would you sacrifice wa dps so the eles can be lazy and not stack might QQ. Alsor don’t run hammer guard in fractals omg,such a dps loss for nothing.

Context : LS story kittens up with mesmer illusions and we’re basicly loosing our core mechanic present twice in every weapon set we use and several traits, minor and major, related to illusions. I get that answer :
the fact that no class but who is controlling the mesmer class and for me the best class for the achievements , beats melee , long Range , is invisible , has clones to confuse enemies , stability etc ,
I feel violated.
You make 0 sense due to lack of knowledge and bad grammar, but I’ll try to answer :
- You can’t “confuse” AI with your clones
- Getting the achievements has nothing to do with the illusion mechanic being severly hit by the latest LS content.
- Mesmer damage on its own is low, if you argue with that I won’t even bother answering because this is a knowledge issue I can not fix.
- Skill is irrelevant, the illusion-hate is a fact. It is a total oversight in design of the fights, can’t blame them, but they should be aware of this issue nonetheless.
Thanks for bringing up skill, as you have no idea who I am (you don’t have to, but just follows the lack of information on your side), your argument about "who is controlling the mesmer is laughable and pathetic. I’ve done the achievements myself and they are on youtube already, doesn’t make the oversight any better.
The fights can be fun, but they are essencially frustrating for this one class that relies on low HP, slow hitting AI – Mesmer.
We had the issues with Hidden Arcana where the illusions wouldn’t hit the bosses in Glint lair because they blew up on summoning.
This exact same issue happens with this chapter. The fights are challenging BUT there is no fun in killing the boss with autoattacks.
Issues
- Mesmer looses potential 60%+ of his damage
- No other class suffers from this
- There’s so much AoE that phantasms barely live (Predator fight) or the boss hits so frequently and randomly that their survival is tied to RNG (Trasher).
This is frustrating and unfair. My solutions? Give phantasms possible immunity (not that Duelist trait line crap doing nonthing anyways) to aoe, or even damage reduction? Start to design fights FOR EVERY CLASS WITHOUT LEAVING ONE OUT (its the case for necros on trasher too afaik, DS specs at least).

Because that completion speed gap is there for a reason. Why should players who haven’t put in the time and effort to get to those perfect clear times be rewarded more?
Why should a player with 500 hours of gameplay do as well as someone with 2000 hours of gameplay?
If you want your speed clear times to be as good – work for it.
Handing things over to terrible players is in no way or form a good thing for the game.
Should have added an Irony tag or something. Trying to understand OP’s logic (you know, that “hunter must think like his pray” thingy).
Or we could fix everything by removing armor totally. Everyone is equal, everyone is happy.
Just need to kick people by asking their traits and weapon choices. Much easier to spot than armor stats that one can lie about. Makes your traits meaningful and reduces the completion speed gap betwen good players and terrible players (the core point of every nerf zerk thread).

Speaking of Time Warp, wouldn’t Celerity (reduce recharge time) opposed to quickness be better?
In a perfect game, Celerity and Chill would cancel out eachothers; and so would Quickness and Dazed if they were conditions like burning and stuff. Can still dream of course.
Adding Dazed to Time Warp would make it viable in tpvp for a lockdown mesmer or any midfight spec and that’d be great.
I would say 1-3 hours for pugs, 20-45 mins for guild.

Tbh, using Mtd just as you in your video as of now. I think it has a far point assaulter role since it rekts on 1v1.
Taking note of everything, will try faster combos for pression (initial MW etc). True that F4 also applies torment, that was surprising when I first witnessed it.
That was the second match I did using Maim, most of your critics are true and I think I ended up following that later (better blocks and faster pression), didn’t record tho. After a few more matches the videos will be much better !
I frequently got my big stacks of torment randomly cleansed before they even tick 3 times . This is why I played it rather as a power spec, of fear of wasting my valuable condi burst and having everything on CD with the target without any torment stack.
As soon as I can log back, I will try out bursting faster and see if it does more good or harm.
I have never played PU condi so forgive me if the way I play shatter condi is similar, so the point is to brainlessly spamm shatters without waiting on a coordinated spike after the target is wore down? I play it as a power shatter. Scepter blocks are missing due to random dodges or evades, and that nobody can control or predict.

Two stealth skills for a bunkler – No no.
Playing both shatter and bunker – No synergy. It’s like playing 2 4 0 5 3 and shattering your buffed up phantasms.
