GW2 is the kind of game u come home tired from work and u can log in a do whatever da hell u want, u can PVE, PVP, WvW u can just jump in and have fun, that is why most of us love this game, there are no riad schedules or gear progression u have to do cuz otherwise nobody will want u on their groups, u don’t have to be on a guild and do guild events like it was a 2nd job. Hell no GW2 is casual and we love it this way, we log in and just have fun doing whaever da hell we want. We don’t feel tied to it, we can just stop playing for 3, 4 days and come back and eveything is the same u can just jump in into the fun. I think that is the target audience GW2 is aiming at, ppl who don’t want to feel a game is a 2nd job, ppl who just want to log and have fun to forget about real life problems just for a few hours.
It is not meant to be epic, just enjoyable, the combat feels great, the graphics are amazing it a beatifull looking game. Notice every single WoW clone has died fast, cuz ppl who likes that kind of game will just go back to WoW in the end. In the other hand a games like GW1 or Lineage 2 lived for over 9 years allready and coexisted with WoW from the very beggining, and the only reasson for that is cuz ppl who likes those game dislikes WoW and,¡ they loved those games cuz offered a different experience.
So even while i understand everything u said, i think u are very right to feel that way, but this game, may be, is just not for u cuz some of us actually love this game the way it is. I’m sure they will include more WoW like content in the future to try atract some players like u, but in the end, the game will allways be what it is.I can log on after work and finish my legendary?!!? ZOMG!!!
Seriously though, you can do what you want if you don’t mind getting the shaft. I am sure like you, like me.. You don’t mind working 40/50 hours a week for nothing, then this game is right up your alley.
I’m not even really that “hardcore” and I burnt through gw2 quick, I have roughly the same hours in Skyrim as I do gw2, pretty weak mmo fo sho..
Then….why are you playing? Why would you decide to play a game that isn’t fun to you, unless you just want to troll? People normally play games they like, not games they dislike. Seems like a simple choice, don’t do things you don’t like to do with your free time. Are the devs kidnapping people and locking them in a room with this game or something?
As you can clearly see, I am not playing.
then why are you on the forums? There’s a lot of games that I bought, but didn’t like. You won’t see me present on forums dedicated to those games though.
Why are you on the forums fanboy? Shouldn’t you be playing? Can’t Anet defend themselves or do they need you here to rescue them from every nay-sayer?
I’m on the forums, because I enjoy having discussions and I enjoy ready what people like, what people suggest, what is coming next. I like being an active part of a community, that’s why I enjoy playing MMOs in the first place. If you don’t enjoy being part of this community (having in mind that you don’t like and don’t play this game) I end up questioning how by any means can it be satisfying to go to the forums of something that you don’t like to rage at it? Doesn’t it just bring lots of negative emotions into your life?

You reference WoW, and forget about EQ2, RIFT, WAR…. wow man. The end game is nothing alike. Getting 20+ people together to properly learn a script, overcome an insanely difficult dungeon, and being REWARDED with ITEMS that let you progress onto the NEXT challenge… that is most mmos.
GW2… guess what? The second you hit 80, you have the best gear the game has to offer aside from fractals. You can run every dungeon, every event, every karma merchant… and guess what? Your items are EXACTLY the same, you can still run every dungeon exactly like you did before… you just look cooler now.
Honestly, you sound like a WoW hater that never got into raids, and never saw the end game. I didnt even play WoW lol… its just a reference point. I played EQ2 for 7 years and LOVED it because there was always something out of my reach that I had to progress for.
This game… you hit 80, you buy the exotic set you want, and you have the best gear in the game. Then whats left? Map completion? Ya that is fun, legit its fun ONE TIME. What next? WvW? Completely without skill it comes down to what server has the most people on participating in WvW. If you disagree you have never really put time into WvW.
People defend this game and take up torches for no reason when more hardcore (if you can really say that about this game) players say they want an end game worth progressing to. Why does this forums population rage out as if it affects them? So a guild that takes the time to learn scripts, and accomplish large scale raids or dungeons gets better loot than you because YOU dont wanna do that? Who cares? Why does that affect your gameplay?
Lastly, you are silly for thinking people would take the time to grief people out of completing quests if there was no scaling. Just wow man, WOW to you. People are going to run through level 20 zones, and nuke everything down in one hit for zero reward for hours on end because thats what we do I guess? lololol.
I personally did play WoW and gear disparity and the gap between gear ever getting bigger was a real problem. Why would you chose to level an alt if there’s yet another expansion with yet another raid for your main and without doing it you’re nothing in WvW? It’s hours after hours after hours of grinding.
You might not like it, but I prefer it the way Guild Wars 2 does it. You’re level 80, here are your choices how to obtain the top gear, now you’re free to experience everything and have fun. Level an alt, the content won’t run away and your alt won’t be underpowered. Go to a fair PvP, explore WvW, go dungeoning.
This game will never have raids, because a) group finding would be too difficult. Look at how hard it is to get a specific path of a specific dungeon and a specific gameplay type that you like. That’s getting 5 people b) raids were created to make a gear treadmill. This game has none. Would you still like a raid if it only gave you tokens and gear of the same level as dungeon gear?
Griefing was another problem in WoW. People did run the easy zones to kill noobs. Personally you don’t like downscaling? Look at how many games that don’t have it! In fact this is the only one that does have it, meaning that if you want your game to have no challenge if you will ever feel to do events and quests in lower zones you have a broad variety of MMOs to choose from.
You see you are the one that’s complaining that this game is not like a different game. And guess what? This game is different, because it is a different game. There are lots of different games out there with different mechanics. There’s a large variety of MMOs to pick from. If you feel like this one does not fulfill your needs why are you yelling at the people that like it instead of trying to find a game that does fulfill your needs?
ok so your favourite spell on ele or your favourite skill on war or what ever was nerfed so bad its “unusable.”
why does that anger you? or make you scarred? or want to “RQ” or even Q_Q?
I’m scared that classes that were already bad (my burst damage on a necro is 1000 -_-) will get so bad that I’ll have to shelf them for good, even though I was enjoying playing them.
The ones that want wars only are normally noobs that don’t know how to play. They normally don’t say but its the Berserker warriors that they want. Good only for AC and CoF.
CoE, HotW, Arah normally kicks their kitten
It’s the run fast elitist groups that want DPS only.
Don’t worry, type your own LFG and you will probably end up with a normal groupI run dps warrior everywhere, and I don’t get my kitten kicked. Your argument is invalid.
Arah? CoE? HotW? Film it, post it on youtube. Are you by any chance using vigor to never run out of dodges? What’s your build?
It’s noobish to run full berserker gear without getting any toughness AND accept only warriors.
Why would they get toughness if they can survive without it? Also they don’t accept only warriors, there is one mesmer in the team!
You’re talking about farming runs. Elitist speedrunners do not even accept cof gear, they ask specifically for berserker’s.
Most cof gear is berserker.
They “survive” without it. Have played with Berserkers. Sitting on the floor downed does not count for damage. Of course CoF is the easiest dungeon at this point. It’s going to be upped in difficulty though.
A berserker warrior downed will still throw rocks for 2k+ crits at a higher attack rate than most ranged weapons. I wish my ranger’s longbow and shortbow had the output of a downed warrior.
whenever I ever have a berserker warrior in my group they always die. Encounter with a boss, burst of damage, dead.
from what you mentioned if Guild Wars 2 was different and suited your needs perfectly, some of the points made would get me away from playing it.
1. Leveling in most MMOs is a soloable process. When it comes to dungeons, fractals and the last story mission you are forced to group. In my opinion there’s enough party and enough solo content. If suddenly the rest of PVE forced you to party up I would feel really uncomfortable.
2-3 it’s pretty much how all MMOs and most RPGs work. I can’t really imagine a different system so I don’t even know how to comment of this one.
4. I praise the game for downscaling and I don’t think I would play if it wasn’t there. Downscaling is good when you’re helping a friend in a lower zone, downscaling prevents level 80s from farming starter zones. Downscaling feels realistic. If you fought a bear, then a tiger, then a bear again, would your second bear fight be any easier?
5. I keep gear pieces for 20-40 levels sometimes. I tend to search for good looking skins for the end game too. I enjoy gear, but at the same time I’m happy that it doesn’t influence the game that much. Skill > Gear is always a sign of a good game to me.
7. The whole game is an end game. What end game would you find in a different game? Dungeons? There in this game as well. PvP? Check. What else is there to do in a different MMO? Raid for gear? Then what? In GW 2 you can as well spend your time doing dungeons, fractals, WvW, PvP, search for skins, do full explore, do jumping puzzles, complete your personal story, level alts… You can do the same things you can do in a different MMO end game. The difference is that some MMOs have so much gear progression and are so grindy that nobody reaches the endgame.Dude. Stop fanboying ANET. They made a great game, its fun, it was a success, but no, everything you said is wrong.
Hes mainly complaining that it has no end game, which this games DOESNT HAVE. The closest to end game it has is Fractals, and the rewards in that zone only affect THAT ZONE. Self defeating yes?
We want scaling, but we want the option to scale. In WoW, and EQ2, you talk to someone that down levels you to whatever you want, or you MENTOR someone, allowing you to downscale as well while providing an xp bonus to that person. Its kinda silly being decked out in full exotics level 80 on FotM 30 and yet you can still possibly die to a lvl 20 zone? We want the option to scale, not it forced. Example being, if your too high of a level for the zone your in, u dont get drops, but can still complete events and quests. Durp?
You keeping gear for 20-40 levels isnt a plus. It means the game is that easy that your able to do that, and also that your probably a huge detriment to your group if your running 80+ zones.
The game is new, and I like it, but even after 2 months now Im getting bored. The lack of anything to shoot for other than a legendary (which is just a skin lol….) is really whats making people leave.
I say, put in better gear, but in raids, put in hard content cuz you know what…. it doesnt affect ANYONE that isnt doing it in anyway.
1. Don’t use we and talk as if you’re the majority.
2. Not fanboying, expressing my opinion. WoW’s end game was raids. You got armor. That’s it. Endgames of GW2 and WoW are alike if you count how many dungeon paths there are and how many dungeons WoW has.
3. If scaling was only an option I would quit. You enter a low level area, kill everything in seconds to grief preventing people from leveling. This is not WoW, this is GW2, if you want WoW go and play it.
4. People being able to complete fractals levels 20+ in whites proves that the game is about skill and not gear. It’s a good thing. You actually have to learn to play.
5. If you want raids, go to WoW, this isn’t WoW.
It’s noobish to run full berserker gear without getting any toughness AND accept only warriors.

But toughness is waste of stat point in current metagame.
except that instead of getting hit for 14K damage you get hit for 1K. You can tank bosses, you can pawn berserker warriors in WvW and PvP… If you have lots of healing power you can always heal more than what the boss hits you for and effectively can do constant damage instead of a quick burst of 17K and go down and die.
Because it is extremely noobish to do things efficiently.
It’s noobish to run full berserker gear without getting any toughness AND accept only warriors.
It’s the run for farmers. Most of those wars have full cof gear. Nothing elite about that.
Some people want a specific combination of classes to do some path of a dungeon. Why is that a problem? Many people played gw1 before where team builds were normal and in gw2 suddenly it’s elitism.
You’re talking about farming runs. Elitist speedrunners do not even accept cof gear, they ask specifically for berserker’s.
To the people defending the fact that anything visually striking would take over a year to get (if you can beat inflation), I present this to you:
how many weapons do warriors use?
how often do you swap weapons
how often does ANet nerf weapon skills forcing you to retrait and perhaps regear?
how long do typical MMOs last before they’re EOL (guild wars 1 was on the high-end of this scale in terms of operating life).I did the math based on my current rate of personal gather for charged lodestones, and it will take me 16 years at the rate of 0.5 a month from “just playing the game” to gather 100. Infinite light requires a lot more than that. Of course, by that time, the relevance of this game will be long gone.
The main point:
anything that takes longer than 3 months in this MMO for the average person to acquire represents an unreasonable amount of time, as you still have other slots to fill. That’s 9 months for the typical 2 1-handers and 1 two-hander weapon setup, and then you have the armor to work on.Then there’s the issue with most weapon skins that don’t share the same, rough-hewn, disorganized look are cash sinks only.
I’d like to see weapons that are a testiment to skill, or to what aspect of the game you play most.
Wheres the reward for 10-on-1 victory in wvw.
Where’s the reward for jumping puzzle meta-completion (and it’s cooler reward for timed).
Where’s the reward for soloing x group events.
Where’s the reward ONLY associated with reaching fractal 40, or 80.In other games many of the coolest weapons are a testiment to skill.
how is your drop rate 0.5 a month? Go to dungeons time to time. 2-3 per dungeon run.
The ones that want wars only are normally noobs that don’t know how to play. They normally don’t say but its the Berserker warriors that they want. Good only for AC and CoF.

Don’t worry, type your own LFG and you will probably end up with a normal groupIt’s unfortunate, but presently guardians and warriors are vastly better than anything else for high level fractal pugging.
why warriors? I can understand a group of guardians only though – agony hits, ALL spam heal at the same place, might keep all 5 alive and no revive orbs would be used.
The ones that want wars only are normally noobs that don’t know how to play. They normally don’t say but its the Berserker warriors that they want. Good only for AC and CoF.

Don’t worry, type your own LFG and you will probably end up with a normal groupYou sir have no idea what your talking about i don’t ever go into COE, ARAH, TA or any dungeon to be honest without full zerker gear. Only time I don’t is for fotm30+.
When I make a group for any dungeon I always put zerker preferred because as any good player knows dodge is your friend and every path of every dungeon is easily done with multiple zerkers. This is the only way to combat the insane hp bosses have in this game. Anet thinks difficulty means add more hp
you don’t know how to play warrior then nor what they’re capable of.
Overflow is a good thing when it comes to fractals – it’s the only way to team up with people from other servers.
I hate elitists with a passion. Sorry your experience sucked there, OP. :/ Just remember that these people are being elitists on an online game because they can’t succeed on anything important RL. Feeling superior to others online is all they have going for them… Kind of sad really.
Anyways if anyone ever asks me about my gear I will quite honestly tell them off and leave the party. >.>I have berzerker’s gear but really…
Wow, what a horribly constructed statement that does nothing but display your own ignorance.
You act like just because someone wants to do something efficiently then they “have nothing going on for them in Rl” and that “feeling superior to others is all they have going for them.”
You say this without knowing anything about the people you perceive to be “elitist” and have nothing but your own prejudice. This post shows you to be nothing more than ignorant and I would run with a group full of “elitists” that demand nothing less than full ascended/exotic berserkers gear any day before running with you.
In my book a friendly run is always better than an efficient one. What’s the point of playing the game if instead of enjoying the content and meeting people all you want to do is to grab the shinny at the end as fast as possible?
What’s the point on asking for a person to link their gear when skill > gear in this game?
The ones that want wars only are normally noobs that don’t know how to play. They normally don’t say but its the Berserker warriors that they want. Good only for AC and CoF.

After playing the game for quite a few months I have learned that it is not hard to make money at all. Grinding dragons (I agree, they should reward more) (unless you want a chance of a precursor drop) and grinding events in orr is not the way to go.
The simplest way to get money is to play the game. My boyfriend and I have different play styles. I like dungeons and fractals. Running a fractal a day I can get anywhere between 1 to 5 G. That’s from one fractal or dungeon run if you choose to actually kill enemies. Now my boyfriend prefers PvP and normal Pve. He sells everything he gathers. He actually makes more than me by memorizing the zones that have expensive materials and bringing his alts to level there (there’s vanilla beans in Sylvari starter zone, cauliflower can be found in Sparkfly Fen, massing up mithril that feels very much everywhere in high level zones is still quite profitable too.) also sell mystic coins that you get from dailies and if possible salvage high level yellows and oranges if selling them is unprofitable and you’re not going to use them, because tomorrow while making my armor I noticed that ectos are hitting the price of 40s for each one. And the price will continue to rise because there’s so much demand.
Money will never rain from the sky, but making 5G a day by just playing is not that hard. Oh and when it comes to legendaries, they are supposed to take years of work. Don’t rush it
They are not scared that people will quit the game, they are simply protecting their monetary interests.
They allow you to make enough money to pay your repair bills, way point costs and the gearing out of a new character once in a while, but nothing beyond that, because they want people to buy gems -> gold in the gem store. If you want to buy that Abyss dye for example, you have the option to either a) Grind for a prolonged period or b) Make a quick purchase in the gem store. A lot of people will choose option b).
That’s why you also see a static money-gain throughout all areas of the game. While your suggestions are good, they will never be implemented because of what I wrote above. It’s the price you pay for playing a B2P game (and having Nexon run the game now).
I don’t think that that was their intention with allowing you to change gems for gold. I think that the function is only there, because you can change gold for gems and might want to get some gold back if you end up not using them. Why do I think this way?
There’s a limit on how much gems can you buy daily and how much gems can you buy monthly.

Such a shame that Guild Wars 2 can’t make up to everything. They should have a bigger staff who could work on all these updates that are necessary.
that’s why they are currently hiring and expanding?
Interesting that they required zerkers gear. Stuff in CoF dies so quickly I didn’t think it would be an issue but I guess you never can tell. Does running a CoF p1 in 6 minutes or running it in 7 minutes make any difference in the world…. when you come back out of CoF and the gate is contested? I’ve seen the gate close in as little as 4 minutes so…. maybe someone can help explain this to me?
Try 6 minutes versus something like 15-20. In the worse case scenario I may be the only person in the group actually dealing damage. I’ve had it happen plenty of times and it’s downright ridiculous to watch a PUG (who usually insists he is omg god tier dps because warrior longbow deeps so good) take ten minutes to kill the gate controller. Then die. Because of course.
it’s much more about skill than it is about gear. A person in Berserker exotics over regular exotics will only do 100 damage more. CoF is super easy and even with killing every single mob (I do normal runs with a necromancer (kitten compared to a warrior) geared for condition damage) takes 15 minutes at most.
from what you mentioned if Guild Wars 2 was different and suited your needs perfectly, some of the points made would get me away from playing it.

Just noticed that you don’t need the globs to upgrade rings.
In any case, sorry to hear about your drop rate, mine is not much better (own 1 vial and 2 globs only), however a system of voting (need/ greed/ pass), would make it even harder, especially for pugs. (most people would roll need no matter they need it or not and steal your loot), it would be better if it was buyable with fractal relics I suppose.Or have it as a toggle? Of course with their current fail 1-person kick voting it wouldn’t work, but a majority vote toggle in loot distribution could work.
that way you would see guilds of 3 running with 2 random pugs, toggling on loot distribution and stealing loot from pugs by rolling need on it…
I got multiple Chars and with the Dagger Dagger tank build not any of my chars can take down a such an Ele and yes maybe you should look around 70-80% is already playing an Ele or has one underconstruction.
I have one and it sucks.
Now you’re talking “pretty balanced” classes… How balanced is it when a warrior can do 17 000 damage with their hardest hitting ability, how balanced it is that a thief can backstab for 14 000 damage while invisible and a necro can at max hit 2700 damage in their lych form as a glass cannon? Elementalist is not the hardest hitting one nor the easiest to play. Stop complaining and pick one up yourself.
Why would you make more than one purchase?
because they don’t accept Lithuanian credit cards so the only way for us both to get gems to convert to character slots was to pay with his card, however you are limited to 1 card bought a day and in total a month you can’t spend over 40 pounds on it, so they have it very strictly regulated. Eventually we ended up using my Lithuanian card that Anet doesn’t accept, but Amazon does and bought me a card off Amazon.
Mystic forge has scammed players for milions of gold , promising precursors
1/20 chance is not a promise. Use it at your own risk. When it comes to blues and greens it’s quite profitable though.
So let me get this straight, they did not hack you, but you decided to do a transaction with a player without using the TP? Then it obviously mostly depends on trust. I only trade items that I don’t need and am not sad about losing (like once in a fractal a guy asked can he buy a yellow drop off me, I sent him the item with attached note of “whether you pay or not, it will affect your sense of guilt only”), he payed. I don’t expect randoms that I meet to pay though. That’s why all I can say is use the trade post instead of trading directly.
Like other people said http://gw2lfg.com . I am able to run both dungeons and fractals and find groups no problem. I love fractals myself.
@MIrta:
I am referring to infused rings, not back item.
Just noticed that you don’t need the globs to upgrade rings.

Tell me what prevents a guild from doing this today if they want to? And if you think it really is such a big problem, maybe sanctify the starter zones from GvG PvP.
There’s no open combat with other players. You won’t go killing mobs on purpose, however in a war field you would do that accidentally. Who said it would only be a problem with the starter zones also? You need to level up to level 80 and Pve is good for that. That’s why there’s no open world PvP either, all is done in instances meant for it and I think that that’s the way it should be kept.
You need a lot of spatial awareness in an MMO, which means playing in 3rd person is much better.
1st person is really needed in GW2 though. Especially while trying to do jumping puzzles on really tall characters like the max height charr and norn. My camera always glitches into the ceiling or the wall and I can’t see absolutely anything.
But that’s why it is legendary. Not everybody in a game should be able to acquire it and it should take months of work just to get it.
Really? You do know that you can just buy most of the mats, or the weapon right? So your saying it’s not for those who don’t want to spend 2,000+ USD, nor for the people who will grind for what they need til the end of time, because of RNG? The system you support will be the death of this game. Being funneled into RMT to prevent people from playing the game, pretty much kills off the reason why we PLAY the game.
it’s a long term goal. Are you saying that if you’re making 5 gold a day you couldn’t get 2000 in 1, 2 years? How long does it take to get the most unique weapons in other MMOs? Just as long. The game is about playing. If, like I said, you want to buy the end game by spending 2 000 USD, then it’s better for the company and other players because you’re funding the game, however such activity is pointless and stupid.
I don’t want to buy the effing weapon off the TP! ANET wants me to buy gems to convert to gold to buy my legendary. Anet is already making a bad system worse, ads I get PM’d to all the time have way better rates than what Anet offers.
Problem is the gem store is supposed to be convenience, but it has been nothing but a huge inconvenience. Everyone seems to have the same answer “If you want it bad enough buy it!” Then why the hell bother playing?!!?
they want you to use gems to buy a legendary by allowing people to SELL legendaries? You make me laugh. Do you know that Anet even caps how much gems you can buy of their website? My Bf and I were trying to buy trough their website 2 1600 gems for new characters. After one was bought he couldn’t buy more for a while. How is than an encouragement to buy gems and convert it to money?
Well they want to give people meaning to go back to the world areas once you hit 80 (and have world completion at 100%). I just gave them one.
Maybe they will listen, maybe they will figure out something else.
You would discourage low levels from leveling if that was happening. Imagine two guilds waring in a leveling zone? What happens? A waypoint gets contested and the guilds would keep on killing the enemies that spawn there. Now what if a person leveling needs those enemies to complete a quest? How many people would quit the game?
Also what if someone does not have a good computer and slows down to 5 FPS in major events and WvW? They play Pve hoping to perform well and BAM! Suddenly 200 people at war!

Mirta.
Buying the ring that you want is not the problem, at least not for me, I can buy 3 per 15 days. But with 1 shard, 3 globs and 1 vial sitting in my bank for 2 weeks, I do not have enough mats to infuse them. Meanwhile for others in my group, shards have been dropping almost every day. To be able to level in fractals along with my group I am going to need more AR. What make this all so frustrating is that Anet says they want to eliminate grief and therefore they implement an RNG system, in this case it’s the cause of the grief and therefore not working as they intended it to work.
I’m not even going to be infusing more than +5 resistance on mine. For now 250 ectos just to up the resistance seem completely not worth it, especially with more ascended items coming out.
I don’t know how can it be the cause of grief. If you’re all running as a friendly group share yellows for salvaging ectos from?
The name is the name of the lore. The game was not named over a function.
I totally disagree, GW1 was named over the function and talked to the heavens by the developers of GvG focus being the main feature.
except that GvG was not even in the GW1 when it was released. It’s a lore name. Have you actually read the lore?
Yes it was. Guild Halls came in later, but you could GvG from day one. I can prove it with a link if I have to.
actually it released about 2 months after Guild Wars 1 released. Also once again read the lore. It’s not a game built around Guild versus Guild, it was build around the lore and GvG was just a feature.
But that’s why it is legendary. Not everybody in a game should be able to acquire it and it should take months of work just to get it.
Really? You do know that you can just buy most of the mats, or the weapon right? So your saying it’s not for those who don’t want to spend 2,000+ USD, nor for the people who will grind for what they need til the end of time, because of RNG? it’s too long and disallows you from seeing day AND night depending on when can you normally play.
Go spend a day trying to make some progress on a legendary, better yet spend weeks trying to gather charged lodestones, months trying to get precursor. Legendary is endgame for me, that other stuff is pretty boring to me at this point, reason why I talk about big numbers is because most of the ways to get gold via playing the game (not a sub game ie: market sim) have been nerf’d. ArenaNet has made the open world a pointless place. I don’t want to do FotM all day, every day, just so I can work on my legendary. “Let the player decide” LOL! Honestly though I’d love to finish Sunrise and shelf the game.
But that’s why it is legendary. Not everybody in a game should be able to acquire it and it should take months of work just to get it.
Different tastes? you have like 2 options as hardcore, and both are lackluster to say the least.
hmm
1. WvW
2. Spvp
3. Dungeons
4. Fractals
5. getting all the possible classes to level 80
6. getting all the professions to level 400
7. getting full world explore on all of those said classes
8. If all is said and done, getting legendaries for all of those said classesThing is, I don’t want to buy endgame, but I have little choice otherwise.
I don’t enjoy anything from the gemstore, I just buy legal gold, that is all.Well I don’t buy gold, but managed to amass 70 gold so far. Gold is not hard to get and nobody needs to buy the end game in this game.
That isn’t hardcore, that is obsessive.
Lol@70g, please… I am talking much bigger numbers, hell I spent more than that on my t3 cultural 3+ months ago (legit farming 2 days) btw those days are gone.
why would you need much bigger numbers though? This is me not trying to farm, playing the game for my pleasure (500 hours in 2 months FTW!) and yes, you have guessed right, I’m saving for the cultural t3 at this point.
Now if I wanted to make huge sums of money
- weapon smithing, farm lodestones in dungeons, sell special weapon skins for 50G or more.
- TP playing
- dungeoning, yellows for sale if worth it, exotics for sale if worth it (if not get ectos from both), blues and greens for mystic forging, dungeon tickets for buying dungeon gear to ecto it once again. Sell ectos for profit or collect them for things that you need them for (ascended upgrades, legendaries)
I don’t really see the rush for getting money though having in mind that it would give me no advantage.

however 15 a month in this game is a drop in the bucket if you are trying to do anything more than run in circles killing mobs for no reason.
And what do you do with those gems for 15 pounds/ dollars? Do you buy your way out of playing the game? If so, then what’s the point? To say “I beat it”? Also what would you be doing in the end game in other games? You got the best tier gear set after months of work grinding countless raids and dungeons, now what? You can stand there showing off, but what’s the point?
Everything that keeps players playing was removed (or never added)
yet I’m able to play it every day for months as a hardcore gamer? It can’t keep everyone due to people having different tastes.
and everything players enjoy about a fantasy game was shifted to the gem store
lets see… You enjoy boosters, make-over kits, town clothing that you barely ever wear and pets that you mostly don’t ever take out?

2 months, that isn’t enough to create so many pixels!
First, you need to think about how the item will be for 6 years, then write all the design on 16365 pages, then maybe you can start designing it.
/sad sarcasm about game designing nowadays
how about there’s more important things to focus in the game? Like bugs, new events, new lore, etc.
How about understanding the community? Remember what happened when they said that there’s going to be ascended gear? They decided to be cautious and release it far slower now.
What you don’t understand is that lots of different people are asking for different things and there’s no reason why they should prioritize creating more legendaries.
I know, it’s like I’ve heard this before, but reading Colin’s plans for 2013 there is nothing about this feature that happens to be in the name of the game!
Why don’t you craft stars in starcraft? I mean it’s in the name of the game! Why don’t you war while crafting in Warcraft? Do you paint elders of scrolls in Elder Scrolls? But it’s the name of the game, what do you mean you don’t?!
The name is the name of the lore. The game was not named over a function.
Actually need/pass makes people compete. You know how you can run dungeons in other MMOs for hundreds of times and never get n item because you are always outrolled by someone else’s need?
In every MMORPG I run the highest, “most difficult”, group content with my guild and friends and in all of them we can decide easily how to distribute gear more effectively for the group. In Guild Wars 2, we simply can’t do that, we need to follow “pug rules” and that’s exactly why I’m saying that fotm is punishing dedicated groups by not giving them anything more than the random pugs.
Why must I always get DPS rings (I don’t want them) and my fellow Thief gets Vitality rings and we can’t exchange? Why must a fellow member get 5 rings while someone else gets 1, this RNG is just painful and the solution is so easy.
Unless of course all Anet cares for are those random pugs, which might well be the case… Pugs forever!
Well in other MMOs I can’t get dungeon rewards because I don’t have dedicated dungeoning groups. You are not rated higher over everyone else, but you’re not worse off either. Run 20 times and buy the ones you want. That’s what I did. Also with the variety of builds you can do in the game your fellow thief, for all the game knows, can have a tank build with lots of vitality. Save the rings you don’t need for your other characters.
That’s because the “need/pass” action reduce your time in game….and ANet just use this method to keep people in game
Actually need/pass makes people compete. You know how you can run dungeons in other MMOs for hundreds of times and never get n item because you are always outrolled by someone else’s need? Also why would they try to keep people? There’s no subscription.
To the OP – random pugs don’t get a higher chance than you running with your friends do.
Look at the snowflake exploiters, most of them played for months.
That being said, I seriously doubt anyone is getting banned for kicking griefers.
okay. Try it. Don’t complain when you’re banned though. Selling spots is illegal. The only way you can get your money back is if something unjust happened to your account (take in mind that only a few snowflake exploiters got refunded because their cases were arguable). If you’re banned by a moderator it’s normally for a reason. When you rob a bank do you ask for a refund for the time spent in jail? Well the situation is the same here.
Also not paying is not griefing, but playing the game. You shouldn’t have to pay for a dungeon spot.
Whatever, if they would ban me because I kick someone who wants to leech a spot I will request a refund and anet looses a lot of money, so will the other people in my guild if it happens.
I dont let us get blackmailed by people who want to grief our service.
if you have played more than a said amount of hours (I think it was 6?) you can’t get a refund.
if you don’t like blues mystic toilet them! That’s what I do! End up with either expensive greens or nice yellows normally
Because trash mobs are just that: trash. They drop trash loot that isn’t worth the trash money. My time, however, is not trash.
except that I’ve gotten yellows and lodestones from those “trash” mobs.
I personally never skip and even state while looking for group that I won’t skip. Skipping is just losing out on loot.
Except that’s once in a blue moon. I skip in regular dungeons but never in Fractals which I do much more of. I think in my entire time doing Fractals (500+ Fractals complete, Lv.30 on 2 characters) I’ve gotten 1 exotic drop and maybe 3 Lodestones from mobs that I didn’t have to kill.
you’re unlucky. 5 exotics dropped in fractals (done only up to level 13, ran only like 100 or so), it’s normally yellow galore though.
Now if blues and greens drop in dungeons – play the mystic toilet. Got only like 2 drops of exotics in dungeons, got lots of yellows once again though. A run normally guarantees 1 to 5 yellows and I get them from trash mobs.
except that I’ve gotten yellows and lodestones from those “trash” mobs.

A guildie got Dawn from a risen while doing I don’t remember what in Cursed Shore. Yet I never ever found an exotic drop from a monster.
That’s the beauty of random drops. Some are lucky, some aren’t and some can craft Plague and the Bloodstone fragment after doing p4 only once.If you are the kind of person to go into calculations and finding what is the fastest way to make cash, you’ll notice that killing trash mobs takes a lot of time and have a low chance of giving anything worthy.
In CoE and CoF, maybe you can get something interesting. But in AC ? not a lot of thing that are worth the time.(This doesn’t mean that I am a skipping dictator, I follow whatever the group wants to do).
time taken normally depends on the group. CoF so far is the easiest dungeon (at last p1 and p2) and it takes what 6 minutes to complete with skipping, 15 without? However when the talk comes to HotW, Coe, TA skipping can take longer than a normal run due to squishy professions not being able to survive the run to the boss. I suppose it’s all about preference really.

And that’s a bad thing how? In my opinion what could happen is that there would eventually be two new elder dragons coming out to fight us, but before that a lot of zones will get messed up by them. If anything I can’t wait to see the change.
I am not complaining about change and yes, another dragon or two would be awesome; however, I AM inquiring as to whether any content will be removed or changed (even if it is to reappear at a later date months down the road) that I may want to experience now prior to its removal/revamp. If the new content will take place around it, then awesome, I have no worries. If other events will need to be revamped/removed for the new content, then I would like to know so that I can re-prioritize my plans in game so that I can go experience those events prior to said change.
My desire to to know of any changes does not mean I have any dislike for said change. I simply want to be informed is all.
Fair enough. I don’t think that people know what will change though and I don’t think that the developers will give out the secret. To be on the safe side play trough all charr and norn zones? Those are the only places that can change. Though in my opinion only the starter zones will change, because both of them are mentioned.
