So anet, if you want any more of my money, fix this crap.
This is something I expect to see on a subscription based mmo’s forum really.
I doubt the problems you experienced will be fixed, so this game probably isn’t for you.
The only people who have legendary weapons are bots, gold buyers/farmers, Trading Post terrorists, and people who have lots of real life money to spend on gems.
If you consider that a good thing then im shocked.
Legendaries should be hard to get, but they should require skill, not big wallets and exploits.
Actually the correct group of people with them is what YOU might call a “no-lifer” because NONE of those demographics fit.
For one thing, what does buying gems have to do with this? Seriously, Legendaries take forever to get but you don’t have to be mega rich to get one.
The current process in making legendary weapons is a insult to true gamers.
I love this line in particular, you seem like you’re trying to set yourself up as the leader of some master race. The rest of your post was “Even if everyone likes it, I still don’t” and frankly we don’t care about that.
There is no hard work involved in crafting a Legendary.
I’m sorry that you disagree with me, but I would point out that if someone as unskilled as myself is already well on my way towards a Legendary, then it’s rather obvious that there’s not much skill involved.
Skill =/= Work
If you want skill based items, then maybe it would be ascended for you? I’m not sure really but Legendaries are for players that put the effort into acquiring them, not the elite.
HAHA only person completly ignorant is you. Becouse u dont have to do anything from what you listed, you can simply buy 1 finished from TP … Thats it, you dont have to play game outside geting to lvl 80 and playing TP and BOOM! you can have legendary weapon .
Yes, you can buy one from the trade post, from a person that MADE IT BY MEANS THAT CANNOT BE BOUGHT WITH MONEY. Did you purposefully ignore most of the comment? Or could it be that you don’t quite grasp the meaning of the word ‘ignorant’?
Also, you understand HOW MUCH money you’d need? 2000g or thereabouts. Because getting that money is probably only one hour of farming for you isn’t it? Also, don’t give me kitten about buying gems, you’d be spending more than you spend in 3 months on food for it.
To add my own thoughts to the mix, I see a lot of whiny children complaining about the term “legendary” when it’s just a label, who cares what it’s called? Call it a “vanity” item if you like, it’s fine.
I see a few people saying “most of us are actively opposed” and what I see is an “us vs them” situation with one side saying “we’re bigger than the other side, so we must be right”. Let’s just say you are the bigger side, which you aren’t, that doesn’t make you more correct and you should just let things go.
TL;DR – If you don’t like Legendaries, move on from them and enjoy what you do. Simple.
“Leetism is never pretty”
Nothing “leet” about telling someone to stop making the excuse that the game is designed to be “impossible” though.
Elitists are the type to tell you that dying at all makes you a noob, it’s the regular players that tell those that don’t know what they’re doing that they’re doing it wrong when they make the claim that there’s too much “impossible” in the game.
If the guy had said “this game is too hard for me and here is why” he’d likely get some friendly tips (in fact he did here) but when someone points out that the game is NOT “impossible” and is likely in fact due to a lack of combat skill (which it is), then the accusation of “elitist” gets thrown when it isn’t deserved.
Tl;dr version: Too many people are getting -worked up- and shouting either about “leetism” or about the game being “designed to kill you”.
And Mirta, do you need a “tutorial” in comprehension? My post was aimed at the unhelpful and derogatory “learn to play” comments that are and have been standard tripe on MMO boards since the inception of them.
Not at all, I think you need a tutorial in etiquette actually as your original post did nothing to add to the thread and was only provocative. Many people that stated “the game isn’t impossible, learn to play” said so earnestly with the meaning that the game is not designed to kill you.
Reading comprehension is not something I need any classes in, I fear however that you may be lacking in this department as you couldn’t distinguish between a rebuttal to an incorrect or incorrectly worded complaint and an elitist ego-trip.

Uh… that is what a knockoff is. A copy of a popular product at a reduced price. If it wasn’t the exact same, then it wouldn’t be a knockoff.
In your definition, that would mean everything in the world is a knockoff. Cause while they are not the exact same, they are all similar. Which is simply untrue. For something to be a knockoff, it has to be the same thing.
Cause what would be the point of buying a knockoff Gucci bag if it is different from a regular Gucci bag? Then it wouldn’t be a Gucci bag at all and be something completely different. Thus, not a knockoff. It has to be the same to be considered a knockoff.
Suffice to say that your assumptions are wrong. Here’s a trivial counterexample. If something has a Gucci logo on it, but it isn’t made by Gucci, then it’s an illegal knockoff, no matter how original the rest of the bag is.
You didn’t counter-argue at all, you actually proved his point. The logo was the knock-off in that case, also called counterfeit. Seriously, the point is that similarities themselves are NOT illegal. Imitation and copyright infringement on the other hand are.
1. If the swords were per-pixel identical, it’d be imitation and illegal.
2. If the swords were branded with GW2/Anet logos, it’d be illegal.
Really though, this kind of “like a knock-off” situation is not bad for anet anyway.
Props to all the superheroes who chimed in with “lrn2play nub” Inspiring, original, and oh so helpful.
Superstar, This Bear Mead is for you.
For all the champs you facerolled in level 10 white armor.
For all the dungeons you soloed while watching YouTube vids of yourself.
For every forum post in every game you ever played that stated “this is all ez mode”
For every time you stated.. “I wish pve was a lot harder”
And mostly, for your faith that no game, ever, was broken, in any way.You are an inspiration to us all.
So you agree with the op that some parts of the game are “designed to be certain death to players” then? If so, then you need a tutorial.
You didn’t provide anything to the discussion did you? The very thing you are chastising people for.
And asurans hate stupidity… whats your point? should we all have I.Q tests in the game and ban players who score too low?
No, people who are bad at the game should stop making excuses and saying that the game is designed to be impossible. Especially when their reasoning behind it is also bogus. Though the Op did mention ONE thing in there that was merely a glitch.
I’m yet to encounter any damage that couldn’t be avoided or mitigated.
Precisely and according to the OP, deaths are mostly impossible to avoid. A statement so blatantly not true.
Admittedly the game is very reflex-based so if you’re a slow type you’ll suffer spiking.
But spiking can be easily and efficiently countered by any class.
What I’ve been thinking. Many situations might seem impossible for some until they swap out some utilities, change weapons or master avoiding hits. I used to really suffer from Dredge numbers in some zones but with experience of playing in those areas solo, I’ve found solutions on every character. I would say that those areas are a fair bit difficult for a lot of people but I’d never say they were designed to cause 100% player death like the OP in this thread.
- last but not least, who’s idea was it to force the player to ‘dodge’ into a red circle? Ever get 3-4 of them circles all around you? (try dodging out of THAT!)
Some elements of this game are indeed challenging and do require skill. Other elements are simply chickenkitten tactics.
Had to laugh. I always remember the Inquest grenadiers that you meet somewhere around level 12-14 leveling out of the asura starting area. You dodge out of a red circle into a red circle. You dodge again and in a nano second you are in another red circle. Wait a minute, dodge used to be a working mechanic. By then you are thoroughly chilled so you can’t even walk out. I wonder if they realize they are training people to just stand still and fight regardless of the flow of combat.
Dodge towards an enemy, kill it quickly, use blocks/invulnerability/blinds/heals and let endurance recharge, kill the enemies as quickly as possible. It doesn’t teach you to stand still, it teaches you to learn to play.
I’m playing other games waiting for the day that my engineer won’t be completely useless in pve. I’m also waiting for them to fix the DR and lower loot drops issues and the broken MF so that legit farmers which they profess to accept and want as members of their playerbase are no longer punished.
You’ve been told several times in the past to learn to play your class instead of complaining about the non-existent problems with it. There are hundreds of good engi builds and plenty of people rocking with them in both pve and pvp.
Also the DR and MF complaints are also BS.
(edited by Mirta.5029)
This thread is either a joke or you really are bad at the game in every conceivable way with no clue how to use map chat, how to fight easy mobs and how to distinguish between bugs and design.
Yes, do yourself a favour and quit because you’re not having fun but I don’t experience anything you’ve said in this post save for the christmas present glitch. There is no “designed player death” as such, we normally use the word “difficulty” where you need to learn to dodge, block, interrupt and remove conditions. It’s not that hard and actually IS more fun.
I’ll agree with allowing nudity as long as the player has to watch a woman give birth first!!!
why? What’s wrong with you? So if I want to see an attractive naked male I should watch a guy with a beer belly make fecal matter on the floor in public first? There’s nothing wrong with finding human body attractive.
I wonder…would all the very pro-nudity people feel the same way if it included something along the lines of a mod I remember coming out for Dragon Age: Origins which changed all the male character models to be nude with fully erect genitalia at all times? (Boy were there some weird and disturbing screenshots flying around using that mod.) I am guessing that people might not think it was so cute and harmless if a naked male character started following them around or making gestures at them.
I don’t want to get into a big derail deconstructing how female nudity/sexuality is perceived as passive and consumable vs. male nudity/sexuality being perceived as active and predatory, just putting that out there for consideration.
This is a really good point. I get the feeling that most of the pro-nudity people just want to see their female character’s ta-tas and aren’t thinking of the implications beyond that.
Actually not only males are pro-nudity. I’m a female and I completely wouldn’t mind seeing some nice firm buttocks of a male in a game. Not to mention pectorals. Ummm
some parents let there underage kids (mine is 3 and LOVES charr and yes he can walk around with it 10 minutes a day no killing just walking around as a 3 year old should) and it would be very unpleasant if off a sudden there comes a group of naked norn males and females jumping around on the screen with bouncing parts and all.
if you want nudity go play second life or get skyrim and install a nudity mod.
the game has a rating on for a reason. If it allowed nudity it would be your own fault for allowing a 3 year old play a (was it 12+ or 18+ game with the current rating?) game that has a mature rating.
IF it would have nudity in it of course i wouldn’t let him play it (DUH) and i do realize my kid is to young for the fighting and killing. hence the fact he never does or see this.
I just think that a 3 year old in this digital age should be able to discover things like guild wars lands. it is beautiful lush lands with so much to see. Nudity does not fit into this game.also the rating does not have anything to do with younger people playing. it is a sugestion, if you will a guideline for the age limit. does not mean a 3 or a 5 or 8 year old can not play the game.
It does not mean that they can’t play the game, though it’s something to look at for the parent raising the child, therefore if a child sees violence, nudity or bad language in a game with a rating of M the parents can’t really blame the product for it, because that’s what the ratings are for.
I’m able to make 5 – 7 gold a day. If there was no botting and mat prices went back up an average player could make more money in return. Gather yourself while leveling alts, salvage even level 80 blues, because that with journeyman’s salvage kit tends to drop orri and gossamer (I keep it for crafting) or mithril (50 copper a piece, lots of profit to be had there)
1 mithril for 50 copper – cost of kit, that’s far less than what you get selling it to the vendor. Even if you get lucky and get 2 mithril you’re still losing money.
8 silver, 15 uses, 2 mithril a salvage or an ori. If you want to drop the chance of an ori and farm mithil buy and use the crude ones.

The economy in this game has been crippled beyond repair since day one. It has gotten to a point where as an average player I actually cheer on bots because I know that their actions will devalue materials so I actually stand a chance of buying them from the TP and leveling up crafting without being an exploiter or gem hoarder.

Looking at reddit posts on this issue, people were banned who only salvaged it for themselves and did not trade it. There is some speculation as to how little was needed to get banned some some are saying as low as 100 ecto return got banned.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Economy-Statistics/page/2#post1189083
Also those that got questionable bans got refunded, however they were known to exploit before this issue and were likely to do it again as well.
I’m really amazed how fast yesterday they found out about the login issue on EU servers and fixed it. It made me realize that there’s hundreds of silent Anet workers lurking and actually reading what we post. Thank you guys
Uhh….I don’t get why the game needs nudity. I’m cool with it, but it really doesn’t add or take away anything in the game. So….why does GW2 (or fantasy games in general) need more nudity? Games are already highly sexualized, do we really need to add full on nudity as well? And don’t tell me this isn’t about it being sexualized. There is zero reason for nudity to exist in this game’s environment. I feel the same about skimpy armor, but I think GW2 has a very good balance between skimpy and not skimpy.
The way you use the term “sexualized” gives me the impression that you think it’s inherently bad, almost like comparing it to actual harmful things.
Personally, I see nothing wrong with nudity and sexualisation as long as it’s done equally for all and with the option to filter it in the options, the same way we do for language. I would then warmly welcome it. However it’s not very much needed but I do like having my characters look good
Sexuality and sexualization are not inherently bad—you’re correct. The issue is that sexualization is often used to dehumanize. If sexualization is used to portray someone as an object to be used, or a lesser human being, that’s an issue. Even though nudity would be available to all characters, you’d still be treading rocky territory when you consider issues like the portrayal of naked children or women…
If people want to create their own private nudity mods, great. They have the freedom to do so. But I don’t think it’s wise to include nudity as a public thing, and I think Arenanet realizes this also.
why would you see a naked woman as an object to be used, but not a naked man? Sexes are equal and if some people want to see naked characters it will not make them respect sexes in real life less.
The people who exploited this feature didn’t hack the game. They didn’t use any weird add-ons to make the software behave in ways that weren’t intended. They didn’t buy gold, gems, or other in-game advantages from goldfarmers or any unauthorized group.
1. They salvaged it in hundreds of thousands. People that salvaged in for themselves, or sold a few hundred did not get banned. These people recognized that it was an exploit, logged on different characters and mass produced it as fast as possible.
2. Some of them were massing such sums as 15 000 gold daily and most of them were planning to mass sell it to a gold selling site.
3. They crippled the economy beyond repair in 19 servers.
Why are you even defending them?
Reply to Laufey.5129
Some examples above are way Anet used to limit tone down sexuality in game.
As for you not liking sexualized clothing on women. This is the most basic insistent for the human race. People are attracted to the opposite sex or sometimes same sex.
If your looking to get attraction for your toon or others toons then sorry.. therapy maybe your only real option.
This is a game with a low age rating, the more explicit the content they bring in then the more chances there are that this game will be required to undergo a ratings change and thus limit their market appeal that much more.
People crying for nudity (like the other silly thread on here), more revealing clothes or same sex relationships you really need to question what is is your looking for in this game cos honestly it might be more prudent to go rent a video to share and roleplay with ya sweetheart and leave GW2 to deliver more sensible content. What do you call more explicit the content? Violence or nudity
If the US government has it’s way. This game will have a mature rating soon anyways because of the school shooting last month.
Yeah but guns wont be re-classified at all.

Exploits are caused by bad programming. It’s Anet’s job to fix their programming mistakes. Before to many people take advantage of Anet’s bad programming.
Anet could of disabled the recipe when they first noticed it.
By the time it was spotted, hundreds of thousands of ectos were produced. That’s like saying, “It’s the police’s job to ensure people don’t get robbed, therefore not the fault of those few people that steal from under their noses”.
Personally I see the refunding of bans (not in any way questionable) to be the more ridiculous thing I’ve heard in a while.

In terms of MMO popularity and player base I am going to compare the top 5. Big names only really…
World of Warcraft
Rift
Tera
SWTOR
Guild Wars 2
If comparing popularity and player base wise, GW2 has more players than Tera and SWTOR (not sure how many Rift has). If it’s your personal list, then it’s completely fine
And now your generalizing and misunderstanding. You realiseright all game well more so all mmos have a grind and a grind is a repetition of content which believe it or not GW2 has so GW2 does have a grind but it’s not a leveling grind per say it’s a dungeon, instanced grind which is a grind.
Saying extended play cheapens the game is also a weak concept as it allows players to actually view or experience content where as in games like this where people get to 80 without having visited like 30% of the map. If anything it helps players experience more the game has to offer rather then rewarding them for running to a way point or a point of interest they actually do it themselves to experience what the world has to offer not what rewards they get for it.
Any your saying this game’s end game content doesn’t feel like a chore to some because it does, grinding instances, farming constantly to raise gold is a chore. People didn’t come to this game to play trade broker simulator did they.
So we both need to stop generalising.
you see you have a choice in Guild Wars 2. You’re provided with list of activities and all of them in one way or another can you give loot and profit, therefore you’re not locked into just doing dungeons.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=on%20the%20grind
on the grind
Grinder – Grinding it Out- On the grind
1) A player player who puts in his poker hours in a job-like way
2) Grind it Out, on the grind: working particularly hard, like when experiencing
an unlucky run of cards, to make an acceptable return on your time invested;
or when making a solid return when playing from a small bankroll at lower limits
I played plenty of grindy MMOs (perfect world, WoW, runescape) and the fact that leveling took really long, do you think that made me enjoy the game? No! “Kill 200 of this enemy type” “now you’re half a level into level 56”. There’s nothing fun for me about that. If you see something fun in it, then there’s plenty of MMOs out there for you.
Best Game on the market ??? You people are having a laugh GW2 is a load of crap
pve at level 80 is too dam difficult , tried wvw got killed couple of times cost a fortune
in repairs , they could improve it by allowing you to repair FOC .
Personally i played WOW for 8 years and GW2 Sucks in comparison .
So it sucks because you suck at the game and can’t make a decent build? Explored full Orr on my own. I’m able to take a player 1v1 and win. Neither of these are impossible. The only difference between WoW and GW2 is that even the best gear does not make you OP so you have to use skill to get past areas and to combat actual players.
(edited by Mirta.5029)
It’s your favourite MMO on the market. Not the best. Not even close.
Mists of Pandaria, an expansion to an 8 year old game, sold copies more in a week than GW2 has to this date.
Also, WoW has over 10m susbscribers currently, while GW2 only has a few thousand active players.
So, yeah. You’d be in the extreme minority if you say GW2 is the best MMO.
actually GW2 outsold Mists of Pandaria
http://www.vgchartz.com/game/37350/guild-wars-2/Global/
http://www.vgchartz.com/game/65124/world-of-warcraft-mists-of-pandaria/Global/That site is completely wrong. Those numbers are false. Anet even announced they sold over 2m copies ages ago. Blizzard announced they sold 2.7m copies of MoP in its first week. Next.
1. It’s still selling 30 000 units weekly (growth)
2. New servers are being opened to deal with population growthAnd again, you’re making stuff up. None of this is true.
that site was provided by a person saying things against Guild Wars 2 a few days ago. The site is reliable and counts the sale numbers for the first 10 weeks. 30 000 units weekly in hard copies – that’s the number monitored from that site (digital copies are not monitored).
If you buy a vanilla game, blast through all the content, and then say you will quit instead of waiting for free and paid expansions, I dunno why you bought an MMO. That’s just treating it like a single-player game.
If that’s how folks plan to play, then buy the game at least a year after release so there’s more stuff to get through before the next one hits.
Y’all people make no sense to me.
Also, at 1600 hours or so, I’m not a casual player.
Blast through all the content?
In Aion i played it for a year and never reached max level. In GW2 i played it for 3 months and reached max level. I didn’t blast through anything I even took a month and a half break from the game in Oct/Nov.
What’s annoying is people like you telling people how they should play their games, you have no right to tell people at what moderation they should play their games. Leveling in this game isn’t exactually hard or long, so reaching max in a month is not due to people “rushing” the game but rather people playing the game at thier own moderation which is DIFFERENT to yours not WRONG or the WRONG WAY TO PLAY.
so you want a grindy game, that’s a true pain, instead of a game where you can reach the end game fast and and stand in LA shouting for fractals groups You see leveling is not all there is to the game and most definitely shouldn’t be.
FTFY
yes, add lines to my quates why don’t you?
Fractals, dungeons, dragon fights, finishing your story, doing full explore, doing WvW, doing sPvP, saving up for cultural gear, making a legendary, playing mini games like keg brawl, leveling an alt, doing all of the jumping puzzles.
The game has so little content doesn’t it? It has so little content that both me and my boyfriend can enjoy playing it together even though we don’t do the same things in game. I find Spvp boring, he finds it wonderful, instead I spend my time in dungeons and fractals, because there is where I meet people that I like, do something that’s a challenge to me and come out feeling like I’ve achieved something.
If you buy a vanilla game, blast through all the content, and then say you will quit instead of waiting for free and paid expansions, I dunno why you bought an MMO. That’s just treating it like a single-player game.

also where are you getting those 2000 players from? That would be the active count of players on one high density Europe server alone. I’m playing on Underworld and it’s packed with people.
Sorry false and please do try and make opinion fact. It is growing. Since 1 month after launch, the people that logged on from day to now has gone down significantly. You are delusional if you think otherwise. So how is it growing when in fact it is declining?
1. It’s still selling 30 000 units weekly (growth)
2. New servers are being opened to deal with population growth
Now can you provide any proof of it declining and not growing?

I run high lvl fotm with mf gear on as a guardian, got a problem with that?
yes, you are a drain on the group. might as well take off some agony resistance, because it is the same thing.
he could have tanky stats keeping him alive. As long as you don’t go full glass cannon build (stats, powers and gear) you should do just fine.
then you’ll just find groups that will never be able to get the achievement, because everyone will go the lazy way. I don’t think that the difficulty should be lowered.
Had an unpleasant experience myself. At level 4 I was running with a group of 5 to level up. When we reached the Maw level 2 people started talking something in Norwegian. After the last fight they kicked the remaining 3 people just so we couldn’t get the chest and a fractal level up. I do agree the kick system is ridiculous.
Ways to avoid it – search for friendly groups. Even state so when LFGing. Add all people that you haven’t ran with before to your friends list, delete them after the run if it goes well, report them if they do something so douchy again.
If all you wanted was to bring the bug to the attention of the dev’s there’s the ingame
/bug command that takes you directly to bug reporting, all this post does is make more people aware of it not exactly the brightest idea, than again YOU might be the one wanting attention.
because sharing something that bugged out in a funny way is a crime now? Oh I forgot, the forum is only for the complainers now.
That’s what happens when you go on the forums and watch the dredge exploit video. Shame on you, lol.
Well I don’t know about any exploits but I was just trying to bring attention to this bug
So today I fell underneath the dredge fractal...

for me sitting is actually beneficial. I have very low blood pressure and a condition, so standing up for too long can lead to me fainting. I guess I’m lucky like that
I remember after a back surgery years ago I could only stand so my mum used my wardrobe as a table. Try doing that? Or a shelf?
daylies, fractals and heavy dungeoning to make my level 80 alt look awesome. Saving up for my tier 3 skin set for my main. After that I have 3 alts that did not hit level 80, planning to buy character slots and make 3 more. (That way I’ll have all of the classes). My later goals are max every profession (only 2 are maxed right now), finish the slayer and explorer achievement sets. Recently I finished my full world exploration, so I feel proud of that
(I was gathering while on my thief to make jewelry for my engineer using Rare lw recipes to get Globs of Ecto because nothing rare or exotic drops for me anymore, not even from boss fights, and then I recalled that I’ve tried 5 respecs on my engineer and didn’t get anything to work right in PVE so I’m just visiting the forums waiting for the day to return if they fix the problems with loot and with my main class).
look for some builds online. An engineer is a better tank than a guardian, my friend managed to make a near immortal one for Spvp. It’s one of the hardest classes to play though (alongside mesmer and elementalist), because you absolutely have to have the right build to even be not useless in pve.

armor and weaps exotic, trinkets are green. Waiting to get ascended there ^^ I run dungeons a lot and am quite efficient as long as someone doesn’t start to skip a whole lot of mobs.
the first month of updates seem to only be fractal bug fixes, the other 2 months are content for WvW and Spvp. I doubt that these things alone would bring more players. However if you look at how much the game has to start with new players are incoming anyways. I wouldn’t say that it’s a “make or break” because you essentially are commenting on bug fixes and PvP maps. And no, I don’t think that the game will plummet any time soon.
Quality over Quantity.
Gw2 might have 500 hours of value in it, but that doesn’t make it a better investment than an interesting and engaging 3 hour movie. At least there you’re likely to find a good story and some character development.
Why would you spend 500 hours on an MMO that you don’t like?
I had RPGs that were not meant to be played as often as I did. The real amount of content was about 60 hours, I managed to get 1000 hours of entertainment of it. I would have not played it so much if I did not like it.
To me GW2 is the best purchase I did in 2012
The only problems that I had with Gargantula is when our group pushed it into the wall and it reset -_-
The boss is really far from the hardest and most unfair ones.
Loot in fractals has been stealth nerfed, or running into DR. I’ve done many runs and noticed a significant drop in loot quality over the past few weeks, one time you could get anything up to 5 rares + a decent chance for exotics – these days, your lucky if you get 1 or 2.
As for our fractal team, it was actually a pretty experienced team – we got beat down by a bugs – which should never happen.
the only thing I’ve noticed about Fractals regarding loot is that Exotics are account bound for some weird reason (probably to equalize the amount of money you can earn in a dungeon and fractal, to make it fair on those that dislike fractals, but love dungeons), however when it goes to rares I get more of those in fractals than in dungeons. Every run I get 1 to 4 rares. In a dungeon I get less rares, but a bigger chance to get cores, that can be sold anywhere from 20 silver to 1 gold 40 silver, depending on the type. Either way in a day, without grinding or wasting too much time on it I can make about 3 to 7 gold a day.
Maybe you’re just unlucky? Sometimes I get really unlucky days of all blues, but then on a different day it’s rare galore. After all all loot is chance based.
for my necromancer I use
1. Staff for condition damage and for targets I don’t want to get close to
2. Scepter main hand, dagger off hand for condition damage
Like you can guess I’m specked for conditions. And I like it. So there’s your answer
I’ve heard it’s good for mesmers too.
Really every single weapon in the game meant for a class is of some use to people with a particular build. This game is all about finding your right build and liked weapon. Scepter might not be for you, but I find it useful.

if it’s not a troll post then answer the questions given:
1. Your server
2. When you log in
I’m on Underworld (EU) and we have plenty of people. Never felt lonely in the starter zones, people that I introduced GW2 to on Christmas ain’t feeling lonely either
Endgame
The story end game is Arah story mode
The regular end game is anything you want it to be. I find myself logging in on my level 80 and thinking “what do I want to do today?” you can run dungeons for skins, you can run Fractals for fun and Ascended items, you can do full explore, you can WvW a lot, you can PvP a lot or you can aim for something impossible like a legendary
I’m as much a paying customer as you are. Just because you disapprove of my disapproval does not mean I have to be quiet.
You know what I did when I hated The Sims 3? Stated my reasons why I think it’s bad, how it could become better and moved on. There’s no reason to mope 4 months in the forums.
I didn’t imply GW2 needs raiding at all, just that WoW released more content in it’s first patch. What’s funny is you forgot that past Ascended gear GW2 does not have gear progression. How would raiding be a bad thing then?
1. It would give you more loot than pve, fractals and dungeons (hence raiding), therefore making those less played and enjoyed
2. It would require a big mob of people and that would be harder to find than a group of 5
Just because YOU have no encountered one of the numerous game breaking bugs does not mean they don’t exist. Or do all those posts in the Dungeon forum come from people who are hallucinating?
I actually just think that they started fixing things. I was late to start dungeoning, early to start fractaling and well, Ive seen many exploits being fixed. The number of people complaining about bugged out things has decreased too. Or it might be that I’m lucky. The point is that I do not see the dungeons being broken and I don’t see them as unplayable either.
Except isn’t that the point of the game? To grind for weapon and armor skins? I guess it only counts when it’s convenient for your argument.
I have not seen a single game that made a skin a must have, quite certainly the point of this game is not to get the legendary, but rather to enjoy playing the MMO the way that you like playing it.
Standing just to the right of a stationary boss who doesn’t even attack me, hitting autoattack and coming back five minutes later for crappy loot is not exactly compelling content. Neither is “Door Bashing and Cap Trading,” or as you call it WvW. sPVP is also a joke that nobody plays anymore.
1. I have not seen a single person in the mob beat the claw of Jormag by standing next to his shield, auto-attacking and then running away to wait for the event to be over. That’s WoW you’re describing, not GW2.
2. Spvp is pretty much always full on Underworld. What server are you at?
Fractals and the Legendary weapon grind would like to have a word with you. They put anything WoW ever had to shame.
Yes, run a fractal 10 times and get an ascended ring as a reward. Such a huge grind! A legendary though, is a choice. It doesn’t give you any advantages, but if you enjoy getting the hardest to get thing you can go for it. Other than that the legendary is completely pointless.
Also ever thought of how long it took to get legendaries in WoW?
Even vanilla WoW had more interesting fights then GW2 has. The problem is Gw2 didnt pop out of nowhere, but was worked on while Wow was there in the background. It is silly that there are so little variety in fights in gw2, when you can see so many insanely good examples of how an interesting fight can look like in WoW. Just compare what they did with vanilla dungeons in cata, how much they improved every fight by introducing lots of interactivty. And in GW2 its still just dodge the bad staff and afk autoattack for the most part.
Afk auto attack and you a) will be on the floor b) won’t make the bosses health fall that fast c) be a drag to the team
Did you even enter a dungeon ever? Example: CoE p3 the advanced destroyer that you need to platform down to. What happens if you Afk auto attack that one? You get burned by his shield. Arah story mode, cannon the hell out of a dragon. How is that not a variety? There’s plenty of variety in GW2 dungeons.
Now compare a WoW dungeon – stand there attacking, not moving, while the healer spams heals on you.

I said by the moment. As when WoW came up and you just had till lvl 60, the exact same thing happened. Or any other mmorpg. You can’t expect 1000 hours worth playing of a just released game. Its ridiculous. That simply doesnt exist. The only difference is that WoW gives you a limit of rewards through daily / weekly quests. Here you could just go 10 levels of FotM in a day if you want.
I’ve played 300 hours and im calculating around no more than 50 hours more before i get completely bored. But thats until they patch again with more content (or finally do something good with spvp :P). And im pretty happy about it. For $60 its really a lot, dont you think?
Actually at launch WoW had at least three dungeons you could raid with ten people. Four if you considered Upper and Lower Blackrock Spire to be seperate raids and multiple high level zones along with epic quest chains. Then they added two forty man raids in their first patch. WoW had plenty to do at max level at launch, in fact that was one of it’s strong points.
Compare GW2 endgame content at launch:
- 8 5-man dungeons that are either buggy and unplayable or easy as crap, or both.
- 3 level 80 zones, one people only visit for an event.
- Grinding for a legendary while fighting DR and a broken economy
And in their first patch…
- A dungeon that isn’t challenging other than resistance gating
- A level 80 zone nobody visits and has no worthwhile events
I’d say WoW wins this one, hands down.
if you hate it that much get off the forum and go play something else.
1. I wouldn’t want to see raids. Raids imply that there would be a very steep gear progression and that we would have to run it, even though it’s hard enough to find 5 people without grouping up with other servers.
2. If you’re going to see the same place as two different dungeons, why not to see every explorable path in a dungeon as a different dungeon as well? Having ran them a million times by now I could say that most are not that buggy or unplayable. I’m yet to encounter a bug in AC, TA, CoF, CoE and Arah.
3. So you’re one of those people that go out of their way to grind for a skin that’s not necessary? No wonder the game is not fun for you. DR kicks in after an hour of killing the same mob, move a bit to the side and kill something else and you’ll have no problems.
4. You’re also forgetting that this game has Spvp and WvW. You can also get a dragon timer and do dragon events non stop, try your hand at jumping puzzles, get full explore, etc.
Now vanilla WoW wasn’t much different. Except for a massive gear grind, that isn’t present in GW2.
Elder Scrolls online and Neverwinter for me.
We’ll wait and see, either or both could be a disaster, or serious competition for GW2.
Let’s be honest, nothing needs to compete with GW2.
I am going with ESO, I so hope that doesn’t fail. The freedom to truly tank heal or dps and no fail trying to remove trinity. <3 sounds amazing.
If GW2 was the best MMORPG on the market, it would have ton more players. It only has 1 dungeon for end-game, woooow what an amazing game so much to do, here I think I’ll go farm and do events for zero rewards. nah…
Oh here I think I’ll try pvp… oh wait everyone is a vanilla WoW rogue, nevermind.
hmm ok let’s do some WvW “10FPS” ahmaghaaaaaaad
It has enough to compete with WoW expansions making it a pretty good MMO (most don’t go that far), the best or not depends on the taste, so one can’t really argue with an opinion, however your way of thought is wrong
1. " it would have ton more players" it has lots of servers and the amount of open servers is increasing weekly. That IS having a ton of players.
2. “It only has 1 dungeon for end-game” let’s all just forget that 4 out of 9 dungeons require the highest level (Arah, CoE, HotW). You can always do sPvP, WvW, mini games, spend time reskinning your armor, do dragon events, get a legendary… You might think that it’s little, bu it’s a typical MMO end game. What would you do in WoW? The same stuff essentially, except that there would be a very intense gear treadmill meaning that you would be forced to run the same dungeon and raid over and over.
As I said earlier, “Glass Cannon = Bad” is a myth. No more, no less.
I will reiterate:
1) A GC who has no evasive utilities and no skill at dodging/judging the fight = dead. Agreed.
2) Same goes for anyone who stacks anything else.
Fox accused someone earlier of fabricating:
because you are making things up to prove your point
Except, he wasn’t making anything up. The “GC SUCKS IN DUNGEONS” line, is a myth. No more, no less (Upward fractals excluded!). A good GC brings a lot to the table. You can pound your chest and stamp your feet as much as you like, it doesn’t change it.
Does it take more skill to play GC in a dungeon? Sure it does.
What about your tough/Vit stacked people. One might proffer that there’s a lot less skill there as you have a lot less to worry about.
GCs have a bad name. It’s true. Death Knights had a bad name in WoW… yet the most skilled? Oh, you can see them solo raid bosses. Not because the DK was a bad class, but because the player was awesome.
Can we get back to having fun now rather than slinging mud around without foundation nor appropriation?
Most groups with GCs rage, because GCs fall like dominoes. You can say all you want about increased DPS, but where does your DPS go when you’re downed on a floor and a good support is raising you?
Actually now that prime time is in full swing, it’s obvious the game is growing. Everything is zerged and there’s overflow/queues.
Not only have there not been server merges, but server capacity has actually been increased since launch
ArenaNet is not only not firing, they are still hiring even more staff. And the only thing they’re hiring them for is GW2.
This game is already huge, and is on the way up.
Its quite known your one of the biggest fanboys on the forum and refuse to take of the blindfold.
The playerbase has dropped loads, well over 50%. Theres a huge amount of guilds that has disbanded becouse of lack of players.
My own guild went from 100 players to 2, they soon realized the flaws of the game. The status on the server is not how many players are currently playing, i dont know how they count it, but its not, many of the so called “high” servers are abandoned.
Theres also one type of servers we dont see in the server list, the “overflow servers”
How many of those are still active? At start you could get into 5-6 different overflow servers, now you get into the same one if you get into any.Lets say you have 100 normal servers and 300 overflow servers, how many of those 300 are beeing used now? i dont think theres to many.
Guild Wars 2 wont die, but its nowhere near increasing in population. I would say it will settle around GW1 population. And the fanboys will get a shock when they start merging their first servers.
why do people knock wow when gw2 end game is identical with people in one main city spamming lfg?
I dont play WoW but its easy to understand why its more popular. It has more sttuff to do and dont count exploring 100% of the map, picking flowers and playing dress up doll as endgame. Plus that what you do is actually rewarding.
You don’t even know what endgame is, endgame is what you do after you’ve levelled and geared. The problem with WoW is that most people don’t see most of the endgame and instead spend their subscription time grinding, trying to make money and levelling their gathering skills.
You don’t even play WoW and I still DO, I have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours grinding for PvP gear in the past only to see the gear gap increase still further between the new and old players. Botting has become extremely prevalent, even in PvE dungeons and the gear ladder is ridiculously tedious.
Have you ever thought that maybe doing Arah and Fractals counts as endgame content? Have you ever thought that maybe getting that different exotic skin isn’t so different to getting the new tier in WoW?
Your argument rings as hollow as your experience in WoW. If you don’t play it, don’t make claims about it.
You claim that there’s more to do, yet you don’t say kitten about what you can do.
WoW: Dungeons, raids, battlegrounds, world pvp (no-one does this anymore anyway), gathering, crafting, exploring, gear ladder, mini-games, seasonal events
GW2: Dungeons, fractals, WvW, sPvP, crafting, gathering, exploring, armour skinning, world events, dragons, mini-games
Tl;dr version: From some-one that played WoW, GW2 has just as much to do, you just don’t have a clue.
Because 3 months of doomsaying isn’t enough.
Keep on trolling bojangles, why you spend so much time on the forums is anyone’s guess.
Haven’t figured out if he gets paid by the post or by the hour
No doubt he hopes he’ll get paid to shut up already, seriously… we’ve had months of this “GW2 is bad, it’s dying” nonsense from the same people, it’s about time they learn that nobody is believing their press.
Cool. Your server has some people on. Not that many in a zone like that though. I can do screen shots of ToR and WoW and even Aion and it has a lot more people in a similar type zone.
If I cared about the game I could have done screen shots on the GW2 server I’m on and you would have seen 1 person.
Okay Mr. Troll, take those screenshots please, no cross-realm (because wouldn’t that be cheating? lol), no starter zones. All mid-level zones, at random times on high servers.
I’ll challenge you to find many more people, go on then. I find it funny though that you think this is such a big deal that you have to complain about population though. Surely to you, the population of GW2 doesn’t matter Mr. I-don’t-play-GW2
(edited by Mirta.5029)
I would really like to see one, but I would be using it for different purposes. Ever tried doing jumping puzzles as a norn or a char, just so your head would be hitting the ceiling and the view would glitch out and now the only thing you see is inside the rock because the 3rd person camera is above your character? Yeah. I would like there to be a first person camera just for that
