Amazing. It’s really fun to play. The music amuses me and the last level jumping puzzle is so kitten difficult that I’ve seen 2 teammates quit on it. It’s just somehow satisfying to participate in and complete.
Post your lucrative bauble-making strategies here.
Each skin costs 12,500 baubles, so let’s figure out the best ways to make them.1) Do story mode speed runs (ignore mobs except for keys) for baubles
2) Do story mode w/o infantile on to get 2 bauble bubbles per zone chest; repeating first zone over and over may prove most lucrative
3) Break open world super adventure chests, kill mobs, get baubles
What are your suggestions?
2) how did you manage to get 2 all the time? After the first run I can’t get them anymore.
Create asuran character, do zone one, bank bubbles, delete character, repeat.
does it reset after a day?

I have some questions:
1. The super bobble boss chests rewards:
a) are they tied to a daily?
b) are they tied to a character (so if I would run with another character I could claim the full reward again)
c) are they tied to 5 person group size?
Because 2 of our people got DCed and we (the remaining 3 of us) had to re-do level 3 again, we did not get the reward again. Decided to run level 1 on my own to confirm. Killed the boss, no reward. So I’m curious.
2. Will we be able to progress further? I mean I can see some things on the map that we can’t access right now
3. Will there be a world 2?
Sorry but wrong.
1) Level 3 crafter
2) I don’t craft
3) I only WvW, monthly/daily are supposed to be able to be done while I play, this cannot be
4) I don’t craftFor those that love to craft good for you. For those that do it because you don’t care, great you get your credit. But there is a very large PvP (sPvP and WvW) player base that has not lvled crafting at all nor do we want to. That isn’t why we play and we should not be forced to do something we get no enjoyment out of.
A monthly is supposed to include everything that is in PVE. It’s also not a thing you have to complete, it’s optional. If you don’t complete the monthly because you don’t craft it’s your own problem and your own choice.
I set my own goals. By being familiar with the sandbox genre I can be creative and quickly think of what to do when I achieved something. Got a level 80? How about getting full world explore? How about getting pretty skins? How about getting a legendary? How about getting all 8 professions to level 80?
Done all that? Get into a guild made out of friends, help other people and play in the worst way possible while dying all over the place and laughing on skype or teamspeak.
There’s lots of things you can do in this game. And lots of different ways to play it.
A member of a very small guild here.
We don’t even stand a chance of unlocking those missions. Even if we would somehow unlock, I doubt we would pass 8/15 people online at the same time. With earrings costing 40 laurels each, it would take me about 2 years to gear up all of my 8 alts in amulets and earrings, so I don’t stand a chance there either.
So I suppose we’re a guild that just said screw you all and started doing all of the other content together. Like running fractals for the backpiece. Going to hard dungeons for the challenge.
Still, this update is definitely upsetting.
I love your communism comparison. I, myself, would also like some sort of activity that wouldn’t require me to have like 200 guild members to get those earrings. You need to be persistent for fractals. You need to do super easy dailies and repeat them for years to achieve anything. There should be more ways to get ascended items.
Some people keep suggesting to “buy the influence”. Sure if I was in a big guild too (and liked to stay there) I could go around post "easy’’suggestions like that. It is a way, but as someone said above, the guilding experience shouldn’t depend on money. I don’t feel like a part of a whole community anymore, rather it’s like I was just thrown into a class struggle; you can join the big and powerful, stay impersonal but get it all easy, or you can remain with the few good pals, hardly get anything done and furthermore empty your pockets in the process.
(bold mine)
You’re upset that it takes a small guild more time to build up a given amount of influence. You then acknowledge an alternative way of achieving that goal (a way that a single person could reasonably hope to achieve). However, you then just simply discount that alternate?
I don’t see a lack of unreasonable alternates.
except that it’s pretty expensive, not all can afford it and we would be left with no money for our gear :/
Mirta, Mirta, I can’t believe you are QQing about any aspect of vertical progression. Remember, it’s all optional. You don’t need any of it to play the game. Simply ignore the ascending power curve if you think any part of it is too steep.
/tongueincheek
actually I’m mostly questioning what will happen to the small guilds. My main concern is that my small guild will not be able to participate in the guild missions and because of that will never be able to attract more people.
You can always buy the influence. slowly and surely
Just 2g a week from each member would already go a long way to unlocking that.
knowing me I’ll still reach for it and get it, but it will take kitten forever (having in mind that only 6 of us have level 80s that would be able to afford throwing those 2 gold a week at this point) and it will still prevent the guild from growing. If there was no influence requirement I would actually have no problem, because my guild would somehow coordinate and get trough the missions with less members than there should be.
I get your point, but it doesn’t really stop me from feeling upset.
Didn’t they say these guild missions could be accomplished by randoms helping out? Unless I’m misinterpreting it here. Also, why do you NEED all 8 slots geared to the teeth? Is someone pointing a gun at you? Will it leave you fulfilled? MMOs games are about the journey, not the destination. If you want instant(hollow) gratification, go hack some single player game.
randoms can help you to complete it, but you’ll still need to get 300 000 influence to unlock it.
It isn’t any less faulty. GW is a completely different type of game.
GW2 needs to be played with its own mentality, you can’t have a game that offers a new playstyle and play it with an old one.
Try new things sometimes. You know, there is only one mentality of GW1 that also works with GW2.
Anet makes difficult things, people cry until it gets easier, Anet makes things easier.
They’re doing the same in GW2; they made all dungeons much easier after you all cried about them so much back in the launch days, they made looting easier, they made almost everything foolproof.
That’s the only major flaw Anet has for me, the fact they dumb everything down when people cry about it.So, you might try this last option.
One week or two of complaint threads should exhaust them and have them and you all easy mission access and even make challenges easier.
That’s what always happened in GW1 and is happening in GW2, but can you give me one week to try the properly difficult stuff before it’s made babyproof? Pretty please.
if smaller guilds got as much as a chance to do the content I wouldn’t be here complaining. If they removed the 300 000 influence requirement the content wouldn’t get any easier to go trough (would still require coordination of at least 10 people), but people from friend based guilds would have access to it. I don’t think that removing the influence is babyproof.
I wouldn’t do too many calculations how to obtain ascended gear.
Because once you grind it all, they’ll raise the level cap and make it all vendor trash.Just play for fun, not for gear; and quit when you stop having fun.
a small guild member here – can you find me people on Underworld server that would be prepared to sacrifice any chance of getting earrings in the game trough guild missions and join a small guild named Floor Inspectors?
One of my concerns is that this update does not allow the guild that I’m in to grow anymore. After all who wants to join when they can see that getting 300 000 influence is impossible for us?
I want to play for fun and be social in a guild that I’m responsible for slowly expanding. I don’t want to quit, but it bothers me that this is standing in between me and the maximum amount of fun I can get from this game.
And that’s exactly why we have multi-guilding.
You either collaborate with other guilds or join other side-guilds to partecipate guild missions. And being “a prick” why exactly?
The guilds I joined for missions are actually very happy I’m spending some time with them.
Joining a guild is not a contract for eternity, especially your side-guilds; most guilds actually accept greetily people that join them as a side-guild.
On pratical matters, they get influence and an helping hand for missions from you, and you get earrings. You’re making a mess because you don’t want to do this and that.
Then don’t, and keep your exotic earrings or your 80 days or whatever.
GW2 even supports bullheaded people like thatthough you’re penalized for not wanting to properly coordinate with guilds by needing more time for the items.
can you really be happy with joining a guild where you can’t call people up on skype? How can you feel alright in joining a cold and calculated guild that’s all about profit with the intention to leave afterwards?
Small close friends guilds are all about sticking with each other trough the years, trough multiple MMOs, trough multiple different dramas and the downs of life. Why can’t I expand my guild or do the content with the people that I like so much?
(edited by Mirta.5029)
so you’re okay with 80 days to get 2 earrings?
remember that if you have more than 1 set of gear that is doubled. 2 sets or gear= 160 days. if you have an alt with 2 sets of gear that’s almost a year to get JUST the earrings assuming you play every single day.
that’s 320 days without missing a single day.
It’s not 80 days and Colin explained that earlier.
With guild missions you get the earrings very easy, that one is the longer route for people who don’t want to partecipate guild missions.
You can’t ignore facts and make an arguments out of it.And even if it was 80 days for everyone then what? As long as everyone is getting items at the same rate it’s not a problem.
No one said all games should be about instant gearing.
and here’s your problem – small guilds are getting killed. A guild of 15 people won’t be able to get 300 000 influence needed, new people won’t join because we don’t have that 300 000 influence needed. Going the solo route – 12 months and 240 golds to get the earrings for all alts. 18 months if to get the amulets and the earrings. It’s insane. Which takes us to the only solution and that’s being a prick to big guilds – join lots of them, get your stuff, leave. Is that really how they want us to play this game?
Rings: Cost a lot of dailies, but not a lot of time if you run
FRACTALS!
Amulets: Cost a reasonable amount of
DAILIES
Earrings: Cost a kittenload of dailies and money, but lucky there are
GUILD MISSIONS!
Hope that helps.
did you read my post?
I already stated that I have nothing against rings because we have fractals and that I have nothing against amulets because that’s where all my laurels will go for the next 5 months.
Did you read my problem with earrings? OR should I make a tldr post for you? Need one? Then here it goes
tldr
I’ll either have to spend 12 monthlies and 240 gold on earrings alone to gear up 8 alts (1 year, 6 months if I want amulets and earrings, if we will have items rolled out every month or so I’m likely to be unable to fully gear up my 8 alts in 10 years) or I’ll have to grief of joining a big guild, getting the items and leaving.
Why is that? I’m in a small guild that can’t save up 300 000 influence and we can’t get more members because we don’t have that influence.
You guys yet haven’t understood that Anet is purposely releasing new gear piece-by-piece and with time-based limits because they don’t want people to get it all at once?
It’s how GW2 works.
This month you get the new ring, the next you get the new sword, etc.
If you can’t stand that you can’t just grind the hell out of the game to unhealthy levels to get everything asap and then quit, either consider a change of mentality or change game.
12 months is what it would take to get all of my alts geared with earrings. 12 months of dailies and monthlies + 240 gold spent. Or I could grief, join multiple big guilds, get my stuff and leave. Amulets will already take me 5 months. The next month they’ll roll out even more gear. With where this is going, will I be able to gear up 8 characters before the lifespan o this game runs out? How long will a full set take for 8 characters? 10 years?
And it also goes against logic – earrings and rings are weaker than amulets, but both are more expensive.
I don’t want to clear the game in a day, I just don’t want to believe that I’ll either have to work for 2 months and pay 30 gold for 2 earrings or I’ll have to grief. I also don’t want to believe that my guild is doomed to never get more members (we won’t be able to do missions because there’s no way 15 people will manage to get 300 000 influence required and we won’t get more people because we don’t have that influence so nobody wants to join us).
I just decided to send an email to ArenaNet. Maybe that way this message could be noticed. I doubt it, but I feel the need to express myself, so here it goes:
“I was never one of the complaining types. I know that the highest tier gear is not necessary. I will never aim for a legendary and I’m fine with it, but I really wanted ascended items. So much so that now I’m feeling a bit depressed. The system after the update makes no sense and is actively stopping the guild that I’m in from expanding. It’s actually breaking the game.
Here’s the game breaking part:
I’m in a 15 member guild. We were slowly getting our upgrades, one by one. We were never big, so we never complained about how slow it is for us to get it. But here’s the thing – we will never be able to get enough influence to be able to run guild missions. You might say “just get a few more members!”. Well my recruiting efforts are going to waste now, because first thing that people want before joining is to know that your guild will have enough influence to unlock and run guild missions right now. Well we can’t have that because we don’t have enough members. And we can’t get enough members because we don’t have it.
Here’s the solo player based part:
I was able to get ascended rings no problem. Running fractals is easy enough. I thought that their laurel price made no sense (they have less stats than the amulet, but cost more), but because I already had them from fractals I had no complaints there. The amulets came out. I thought “that’s where I will spend my laurels!”. Yes, it takes 20 days to get even one and I have 8 alts, but I can do it! All it takes is time, right (it would take me about 5 months to get the amulets for all of my alts)?
But then the accessories came out. Here where it makes no sense – they have less stats than the amulets and the rings, but they cost more! 40 laurels + 50 ectos. 50 ectos would already push it close to impossible for me, but I won’t complain here, plenty of ways to get ectos, it would be my own fault if I wouldn’t get 50 of them (15 gold to buy it, so a full earring set would cost 30 gold, or if I would want to get free exotics to salvage and my luck would stay what it is – about 150 dungeon runs). But 40 laurels when their stats are lower than the amulet? Let’s see, so I have 8 alts – that’s 14 months of dailies and monthlies + 240 gold spent if the prices don’t change if I want to get it for them. "
Earrings are impossible for me. At least they’re impossible for me if I want to gear all of my alts. Either that or I’ll have to be one of those cheap shots that joins a random big guild (or more than one of them), only to get my stuff and leave. And I don’t want to resort to doing that. Yet I do want the earrings. I agree to work for them, but 40 laurels for each is something I will not be able to afford.
- We will get laurels for achievements
- You can get ascended rings from FotM
- You can get ascended earrings from Guild Missions
- They are in the process of rolling out different methods of attaining ascended gear. They have added 3 methods in 4 months.
1. We might get laurels from achievements. Or achievements can have a whole new separate system.
2. nobody is complaining about the rings.
3. Guild missions won’t work with small guilds – a 15 member guild here without all the upgrades even, if we would be lucky enough to have 10 people online at the same time it’s unlikely that we would be able to do it. It’s also pretty kitten impossible for solo (no guild) players.
4. They have added 3 methods for 3 different gear items. Amulets can only be gotten with laurels, rings and accessories can be gotten with 2 different methods (fractals and laurels or guild missions and laurels). You can’t get all by running fractals and you can get all with guild missions.
I do agree. 20 I would agree to pay. 50 ectos I don’t mind. 40 per item?! Seriously? 30*8=240 days that I’ll spend getting the amulets for all of my alts. -30 because one of my alts already has it – 210. 140 days if I do all the monthlies. That’s around 5 months. I’m not going to fuss over rings, I can get that from fractals, but seriously? Accessories requiring 40 laurels each?! Why?
accessory prices in my opinion are just insane. 40 laurels and 50 globs? I seriously hope that they will make them accessible in some other way too. I mean I don’t mind that 50 globs part. I know that they’re supposed to be hard to get, but it will take me long enough to provide amulets for all 8 of my alts. I’m sure as hell am not going to be saving up 640 laurels for accessories.
Mesmer portal skill should have been replaced. I know why they nerfed it (it was used for abuses mostly), but now it’s completely useless. So useless that I wish mesmers had some other skill instead of it.
AC got harder. It didn’t really need to get harder, but then again I have plenty of level 80s and like running CoE so I accept the challenge. But guys, originally this was supposed to be a level 35 dungeon. Yet it’s far harder than CoF. CoF is the one that was needing a buff.
Dungeons still lack waypoints.
Spvp changes are not bad, but it doesn’t change the fast that Spvp rewards are lacking in pve regard (why no dye drops, skins that we can use in pve, something to show off? Why no exp like in WvW?)
Love the new daily and monthly change.
Like the new living story quests, though I hope that there will be even more of them.
Having problems with server connection after the update though.
started happening again just now after the second update today. Can’t stay logged in for more than 5 seconds. Getting rolled back on top of that.
Underworld (EU) server.
wasn’t happening to me until the second update today. Just started and oh boy it started. Can’t survive more than 5 seconds in game without being disconnected, getting rolled back on top of that.
Underworld (EU) server.
I hope this will get fixed.
disconnecting every 2 minutes or so after the new patch.
Underworld (EU)
I can log in, my boyfriend can’t.
We’re both on Underworld server (EU)

TLDR: “Make GW2 into GW1/WoW clone with trinity, manabars and remove thieves because I haven’t figured out how to counter them”
No to all, thank you.
yup, I agree. I play GW2 because it is different.
I’m playing Tera and GW2 at the same time. I like Tera’s combat system more, however GW2 wins me over with its questing system, I prefer Tera’s map chat (people trolling each other, discussions going on), but I hate that other players can steal your loot.
I don’t know are they listening, because their major Spvp update turned out to be 1 map
What about
1. Dueling?
2. More modes?
3. Skin rewards?
I’m glad that they’re fixing the loot though
I know that they can’t hear us all but there has been things that people have been asking for since the release and it’s not in the game yet. That kind of makes me sad

alpha is one of the best. pls understand that on alpha it is not so much about the skill as it is about understanding the boss mechanic. go read.
Running Alpha path 1 and 2 for a while now. This is not my first encounter with alpha
Alpha is a dance.
He goes 1, 2, 1, 2.
You go 1, 2, 1, 2.
I don’t remember exactly what abilities he has in Path 3, but I think it’s the Earth-Spikes, and then the Spike-Circle Ice thing.
Thus, he’ll do Earth Spike cone, be ready to dodge it. Then avoid his Spike-Circle, which doesn’t require any dodging at all.
Then dodge the Cone.
Then avoid his Spike.
Rinse and Repeat.
How do you avoid the Earth Spike that seems to come out of nowhere in a completely random direction?
I did get lots of good advice here that I’m planing to try out
(stand around alpha from 5 sides, push alpha into the wall, watch his arm movements) and I’m going to post back whether those things were successful for us or not when I eventually get around to doing it. Was planning to do it yesterday, but we did 5 guildies on skype CoE path 1 and 2 runs and it was a big mistake. For one thing we were having too much fun to even pay attention at the basic attacks, causing lots of failure and then we would stop to chat for too long and time flew by, then people had to go sleep and we couldn’t anymore
If you get a blue, big deal! Salvage it for a chance at orichalcum ore or ancient wood. Boom! You just made 3-4 silver or got closer to an expensive exotic you could make (mystic, named, apothecary, etc)! Stop complaining people and use logic and use what the devs gave you: many ways to use the systems involved (legitly and without bots/cheating/hacking) to your advantage to find way on your own to make gold.
I usually sell my blues if they are not made of mithril/ori or wood. So all cloth and leather armor gets sold.
Greens you should be throwing in the forge over and over to get yellows for free ecto.
to be honest where I see the problem is when a champion doesn’t drop even a gray and when a high level dungeon boss like Lupicus drops a blue only. Not going to ask for much, but if people will be going to invest 20 minutes to kill a champion the lowest end loot should be blue (instead of no loot dropping) and you should have a high chance of getting a green, then like 1/5 or 1/10 for a yellow (even a low level yellow).
Congratulations Tyrantis you seem to get decent drops however the threads were about those of us who do exactly the same as you but get hardly anything.
We don’t want loot upping we just want the same loot as you !Yep Powercat seems like a dodge to me too and a great way to get rid of both the threads and bury the issues.
You’re playing with a random generator. The fact that your loot is not good always does not mean that there’s something wrong with it. I ran CoE for days now getting only blues. Went to metrica province to complete my daily, smacked a mob and got a yellow. It’s random. Sometimes you get unlucky for days, sometimes you get real luck streaks.
They only track damage, this is a DPS game.
Are you serious ?…really, im asking, is this true ?
When fighting a horde of mobs with a zerg, spam your AOEs and tag mobs fast before they drop dead or you’ll cry because you won’t see any shining corpse lying on the ground after the waves of risen dissipated. :P
not true. In CoE stair case place, where a big mob runs if I, as a condi guardian, drop a fire circle and let enemies be tagged by it, almost all corpses shine.
there are a lot of reasons why other cities are not as popular. Not all of them can be solved.
Solvable reasons:
- add a mystic forge to all of the cities
- move the dungeon vendors outside their appropriate dungeons.
- add portals to WvW in every city
- add portals to Fractals in every city
Not solvable problems:
- people go to LA because there’s people there. It’s a closed circle. If I want to advertise a guild where would I find the most people? LA of course! I could go to Rata Sum, but then less people would hear me.
- It’s the only not starter zone city. If I want to run TA and I can’t find enough people on the map, where am I likely to find people of the appropriate level that would be interested in it? In The Grove or in LA?
And then my fixes are far from perfect – if we move the dungeon vendors outside their dungeons, you’ll need to go to all of those places to preview their dungeon gear. Adding more than one Fractals portal makes no sense. Having more than one WvW portal place makes no sense, because then you’ll have to crowd WvW with all those portals to all those other cities as well.
While cities in Guild Wars 2 are nicely done, I doubt that any change made could make LA not the most popular one.
RNG and damage have nothing in common. There has been times when I only tagged mobs and gotten yellows. You’re just on a bad luck streak.
I just spent 3 hours in that dungeon only to have my teammates rage quit.
When you start with this, I can immediately see that this is not a problem with the dungeon, more a problem with the bad group you had. Besides the Champion Icebrood Wolf and Champion Destroyer Crab, the rest of the dungeon’s difficulty is fine. Both of the aforementioned Champions I normally skip because they are extremely difficult but the rewards are terribly bad.
2. Alpha’s earth attack is unblockable and gives no warning
I’m fine with all of his other attacks. You can time dodges. This one? Not really. On top of that my guardian with 2700 toughness would lose 70% of her health if he would hit me even once. And he would spam it on all of us non stop.By the damage you’re taking, this sounds like his large AOE attack that targets every player and pet in range. This is mechanic-based attack and requires you to dodge in a timely manner. And it is blockable with Aegis, Shield of Wrath, etc. The main reason you think your Aegis is failing is because, when your group is stacked up or spaced incorrectly, you’ll be hit by multiple instances of the same attack, while Aegis only blocks one. If you’re stacked up, the only way to avoid the damage is to time your dodge appropriately. As a rule of thumb, when the circles appear, count to 2 and hit dodge; you will need to adjust and compensate for latency.
He does have the same AoE attacks on other paths and I can run those in 30 to 40 minutes no problem. His regular attack is easy to dodge because it hits about 2.75 seconds after the rings appear. I’m talking about his Earth attack, the linear attack wave that he does with no warning.
Also how do you deal with repositioning of Alpha once you try to stand inside him? He never stands still.
(edited by Mirta.5029)
I’ve had no trouble with the earth attack you speak of, it doesn’t do as much damage due to the almost instant activation time. If you dodge out of the other AOE and coordinate a bit with your group you should get it.
5000 damage an undodgeble AoE is not a lot? O_o
It hits you multiple times for high damage, how much toughness do you have? What class do you play?
The Destroyer Crab Champion is skippable and the equivalent in the other 2 paths would be to fight the mobs instead of exploding the cage (path 1 optional) and fighting the husk and dog mobs (path 2 optional).
As for Alpha, which earth attack? He has two. The first one is the large circles he spawns on people that you can easily walk out of. The second one is a series of increasingly growing AoE circles that travel out of him in a direction of his choosing. This one is harder to dodge but does less damage. The only effective way I found of dodging it was to literally stand inside of Alpha so the AoE circles cannot hit you.
Yes there’s veteran mobs before the crab as well. The crab is the only champion mob in all 3 paths.
I was talking about the second one. Do you run this path a lot? Are you on European or American server?
This topic has multiple purposes. I will ask players to share tips and tricks and I’ll ask developers to take a look at Alpha’s earth attack at the same time. Let’s start from the problems I have with it.
Part 1: Why am I raging?
I just spent 3 hours in that dungeon only to have my teammates rage quit. 1.5 of those hours were spent trying again and again to battle the last boss. Why did I go there? I remember passing that path in 2 hours before the waypoint rushing was removed, it was a real big challenge and we barely made it that time, but this time I thought that I improved as a player and will be able to do it faster and better so I took the challenge. This is both a plea from me to others to help me improve and as well to ask – why is this path so unfair?
Part 2: what’s wrong with the path in my opinion
1. It’s path 2 + an extra boss put on it
Up until the fire crab (that’s where the boss before Alpha would be on path 2) it’s identical. However here we have 2 bosses instead of 1 like it is custom for path 1 and 2 (fire crab and the dude with a shield). You might say that the fire crab is optional, but there are no such equivalent on other paths making this one longer. Why is it so? Was CoE path 3 supposed to be like Arah path 4? If so, why isn’t there an additional path like in Arah to compensate for this one being longer and harder?
2. Alpha’s earth attack is unblockable and gives no warning
I’m fine with all of his other attacks. You can time dodges. This one? Not really. On top of that my guardian with 2700 toughness would lose 70% of her health if he would hit me even once. And he would spam it on all of us non stop.
Part 3: help me improve!
How do you avoid the Earth attack? Any good players running in constantly that I could contact on European server to run with and learn? As a guardian I was using Judge’s Intervention to get out of the crystals, revive signet to get my teammates up without getting into the AoE, that shout that gives you protection and heals, as my ultimate I selected the golem (I’m an asura). Were there better abilities to pick?
Anyone else feel that the hours spent ingame claimed are a bit exaggerated? lol
I’d burn myself out of any single player experience if I had spent this long in it. Add to that watching the game take “subjectively” bad directions post release… Yeah….
The point when you ask yourself “for what” is the point that you’re done.
people that like the game stayed, people for whom it’s not their cup of tea changed the game that they’re playing. It’s the natural order of things. Except that for GW2 people that left somehow decided that their new hobby is forum lurking for a game that they don’t even play. Very strange people indeed!
Christ Mirta, it’s called giving a toss about games in general, if this game is deemed a runaway success and it’s flaws are glossed over, then other games could end up sprouting up with the same problems. Add to that disappointment at what COULD have been to some folk an AMAZING game which is now the height of mediocrity, and you’re bound to have a few folks who linger on to make sure the game forum isn’t populated with people defending aspects that honestly, imho shouldn’t be defended.
No one is even really saying GW2 is terribad or the worst game evar, but there has to be a sober and realistic critical element in the community which represents the disappointment of what GW2 could have been, and STILL could be.
The attitudes of those defending the game far outstrip any bad mentalities or bad rationale as usually when the posts are solid in their critique, the response is usually ad hominem.
The thing is there’s about 20 accounts that are creating new posts here every day and bringing up all the negative ones for 5 months now without even playing the game. You review its bad points and if you leave you leave.
Take 2 games, GW2 and LoL ….they are played differently …but are still competitive MMO’s
I don’t ask to be a GOD to a newbie …
but, in the end when I play for (later on) even 2 years …. and when I come across someone who’s only been playing for 2 months … is it that BAD to expect that I will be rewarded with some type of bigger strength then he is ???
Yes, I WILL have more experience…but come on guys ..GW2 isn’t that hard to understand …he’ll also know what to do and just kill me …a 2 year veteran ….
1. LoL is not classified as an MMORPG. It’s a MMO battle arena. A different genre. It’s the same as it is unfair to compare an RPG to an MMORPG.
2. This game is about skill. If you’re not good at playing the game you should not be rewarded with invincibility just for putting in a lot of time. Want that? Go to WoW. It will suit your needs better. I put in 5 months. If I’ll get killed by a fresh out 80, fair enough. He is more skilled than me. I can learn, tweak my build and master it even better.
I’ve been playing since August 25, 2012, and to this day I am still amazed every time I log in. I’m posting this thread because I’m tired of seeing all the threads complaining about this or that. Sure, the game isn’t perfect, but what game is?
I’ll never understand those complaining about lack of “end-game” content. You can do whatever you want! And there seems to be practically an unlimited amount of things to do. Also, if you don’t like the gear grind, then don’t do it! I’ve hardly even set foot in fractals, yet I still find ways to enjoy this game. You don’t need the best gear to have fun. If you play the game with this mindset, you may find that your experience completely transforms. Just play the game for fun.
What is so Amazing ?
- grinding linear, never changing Dungeons ?
- fighting Invisible people in WvW ?
- being stormed by 50 people without ever realizing it ?
- unimportant sPvP (you just fight and that’s it, not achieving anything for PvE/WvW)
- Exploring Maps pass lvl 80 for no real Rewards
- Finishing boring story that is different for everyone …but same for everybody pass lvl 30 XD
- Farming for Legendary ….so that you have a weapon that glows ????
I made my Ele and Thief ….both lvl 80 full exotics. ..together 71% map completion …
I could go for 100% … but why ?
I could go to do some more WvW … but why ?
I could train SPvP more …but why ?I can play for 2 years more ..and nothing will ever change, I will stay exactly strong as I am now …
I (and other ~70% of community) have no reason to play this game past lvl 80 Exotics…
1. This game has more dungeon paths than any other MMO and yet you complain
2. AoEs combat invisibility nicely
3. Yes WvW is a zerg (ahem it’s an MMO you should expect zergs to be somewhere), PvP is a mode free from them though
4. When it comes to PVE and PvP – PvP gives you dyes. Though I agree that there’s a lack of incentive to play it.
5. maps starting from 60-70 to 80+ give you 2 to 3 exotics upon completion. If any of them has the divinity rune in it, salvage, get ectos, sell the rune for 8G. If they don’t you can try your hand at mystic forge for a chance of something more expensive or you can outright sell them. Wouldn’t say that it’s not rewarding.
6. The story pretty much collides into the same point at level 30 when you have to pick your order, but from here on (except for the kill the dragon attacking LA missions) you have 2 to 3 choices what mission to do next after you completed one. And it does impact the further missions (for example, I decided to save the skritt instead of the quaggan and I found the skritt helping me to escape in a story mission 20 levels higher than that one). Yes, the story gets tedious, but it’s because how the missions are. The story in itself is pretty not bad and certainly does not lack choices.
7. People want to get a legendary to show their investment into the game. To have a different skin to show off.
8. It’s nice for you to pull imaginary numbers. Want to back them up?
What do you do in an MMO after you get the highest tier gear you ran so many raids for? You’re essentially asking what is the point of playing the game if you can’t one hit kill a noob that never ran a raid. If that is the only thing you want to do in an MMO then this game is not your cup of tea.
I curse God every day I spent 60€ and over 250 hours on this game …
After 150 hours I understood how much it’s missing … (I did PvP too, no legendary, Elementalist -> lame weapon skins for legendary)
It took you over 1,7k hours … I don’t think game’s the problem …
Real people left months ago …. and you just started to realize it ?
people that like the game stayed, people for whom it’s not their cup of tea changed the game that they’re playing. It’s the natural order of things. Except that for GW2 people that left somehow decided that their new hobby is forum lurking for a game that they don’t even play. Very strange people indeed!
To the OP. It’s not that the game is lacking content. It’s that you exhausted most of it. The game kept you entertained for 1700 hours. It means that you found 1700 hours of content in there. That’s in no way lacking. For now in a month or so the living story will progress to its next chapter. By the end of the year maybe we’ll get our first expansion. In comparison I only have 600 hours played here and I’m nowhere near exhausting the content. Level an alt? Put the game aside for a few months and play something else? There’s no subscription fee, meaning that you’ll be free to return here whenever you want
This game actually does a pretty lousy job of explaining the game’s fundamental mechanics like dynamic events or boons/conditions.
GW2 has actually lost a lot of players because they were looting around for a quest-giver and the game did nothing to explain how Hearts/DEs were to replace quests.
Actually in my opinion GW2 is the most noob friendly game, because compared to some other MMOs it’s pretty easy to figure out.
Both me and my boyfriend came from the WoW crowd, without watching any videos and figured it out for ourselves.
Because it’s not okay for people to claim that everything is “optional” but then to also say that the game has a significant depth of content. If all of that content is “optional” and thus doesn’t need to be fixed (which, btw, is bad logic: a broken feature should be fixed whether it’s optional or not), then the end result is that there’s no game left to play once you max your level.
optional means you are not forced to do it, not that the content is not there. The same way that I can’t claim that Skyrim has no side quests just because I’m not forced to do them, the same way that I can’t claim that WoW has no battlegrounds, because I’m not forced to participate in it.

Floor inspectors is a pretty casual going guild of (at this point) 14 people. We accept all people not afraid to be crazy, not expecting anything professional and those that fail a lot (after all Fail is our tag and we expect to inspect the floors a lot). All of our members have their own preferences and activities. Some like PvP, others like PVE.
If you feel like joining whisper Obsi Light (ATM. You can also use my account name for whispering), or the GM Madnek. I am online a lot, so you should be able to catch me. If there’s anything you would like to know you can ask me now in game or right here on this topic.
1. You already have skins. There can’t be skins unique to sPvP because no one should be forced to do sPvP to get a visual appearance. To show off your PvP rank, you have the /rank command.
Well WvW has its own unique armor that you can buy for glory, so having empty transmute skins as buyable rewards in PvP wouldn’t hurt would it? Really I just wish that there was more reason to go there. Some vanity items or something. Now it’s just for fun, which is not bad, however there’s only one mode for playing on and it gets boring after a while.
All of your mode ideas sound really interesting though. I so wish I could play them!
2. more game modes sound nice. but then the flag in the middle would be a race of swiftness and camping.
2. I don’t mind what modes they add. As long as they’re more modes I would feel satisfied.
I was really excited about upcoming updates for Spvp… Until I read the notes and figured out that it’s 1 map. Come on! This game is PvP oriented so why not to show some love to Spvp people?
I got a few suggestions that I hope will be read:
1. better rewards give us Spvpers skins! Skins that we could show off in PVE. Skins that have no stats but we could transmute to! Let dyes drop. Let Laurels be obtainable by completing the PvP daily as well. Give people incentive to play it!
2. more modes for example “capture the flag”. One flag in the middle, two teams try to get to it and bring it to their base. When the playing with the flag gets downed the flag is dropped. It resets when a team scores a goal with it. Free Death match! All can kill everyone, it has a time limit of let’s say 10 minutes, then the score screen comes up.
3. I know about tournaments, but I think that there should be a not ranked Spvp thing where there’s no random grouping. If you come in with a party, your members end up and stay on your team. I do understand that that can cause some problems in the regular Spvp (some groups strategising and working together better than others because people in the group know each other), but there’s no reason why there couldn’t be an Spvp mode that allows it.
4. Dueling! I really wish I could fight my friends 1 on 1 without more people joining just to test out who of us is more skillful.
I hope that this will be read. All I wish is for more love to Spvp.

No, not really. More PvE content I can get behind. 5 man content. Raids? No way.
WoW doesn’t have more to do, it has more grind. Grind this rep to get that valor to buy that armor. Grind this raid to get those tokens to get the next quest to get the epic gem. Grind more rep to get more gear so you can grind rep better.
Three Months Later New stuff is released and guess what?! All that stuff you grinded for is now obsolete. There are new reps to grind! New raids to grind! New tokens to collect. Everything you just did for the last 3 months was for nothing. Wasted. Your current gear won’t even get you into the new dungeons or raid. Start grinding!
And it goes like this in one big, neverending circle.
Just because the grind in WoW is endless and has a variety of ways to annoy you, doesn’t mean it’s better.
I second your comment. Hate raids personally.
In my opinion the game lacks Spvp modes and real Spvp rewards that could be shown off in PVE. Like skins you could transmute to. They told us that they’re doing a bit Spvp update and it’s 1 map -_-. Can we get a capture the flag mode? Deathmatch free for all mode? Something new?
There is no endgame. Anyone who says otherwise is objectively wrong.
Completely depends on what you call an endgame.
After hitting level 80 the end game would be Arah, 2 zones, Claw of Jormag, Fotm.
These are exclusively level 80 activities. If you consider the end game anything you can do with a level 80 character then it’s WvW, PvP, Dungeons, Fotm, ALL dragon events, jumping puzzles, map completion, aiming for a legendary.
