Btw: (The fractal relic bags have an automatic sorting effect that is really annoying if you don’t specifically want it).
The 150 slot ones take “masterwork before everything else”, but if you only get those bags then it wouldn’t really affect your inventory.
He’ll just have to keep on checking it. There’s no particular times when any server is “open”. It’s just to do with the population at the times he attempts to join.
Last I heard there was a bunch of WvW guilds leave BG for another server about a week ago.
4. Dye application restrictions. I find this infuriatingly limited, I use the Arah heavy helmet, it’s mostly gold, which means the horns are gold. I want to make the horns black, while keeping the helmet mostly gold. This is apparently asking too much. Why Anet, why!
It’s a massive step up from gw1 where we only had one channel to dye. Hearing about 4 dyeing channels in armor for this new game that was coming out was amazing! You’ll have to deal with it or find another piece of armor you prefer. I doubt they’ll change the dyeing system any time soon.
Honestly I think this situation is a perfect scenario for the vote kick system.
That’s exactly what would happen if someone joined a speedrun or zerker only group and didn’t conform to the group’s requirements and I see no reason it should be any different the other way around. One person racing ahead of the group, skipping enemies and leaving the rest of you to 4-man it or aggroing a boss while everyone else is still in the cutscene is just a disruptive as one person not skipping and forcing everyone else to wait or not participating in the fight because they’re still in the cut scene.
Whatever your chosen tactics are it’s still group content and that means the group needs to be on the same page and working together. The vote kicking system is there for those situations when that doesn’t happen.
So… If you were advertising a zerk speedrun and four people joined seemingly onboard with the idea, go through the first boss… Then decided to start doing a kill all no skip casual style… And you objected, pointing out that’s not what the group was supposed to do… Then they vote kick you… You would be cool with that?
If that was me I certainly wouldn’t be. If I posted the lfg and started the group it should be run the way I want it. If Bob posted the lfg and started the group then it should be run the way Bob wants it.
If that happened to me I would certainly have a few choice words to say to them, but as I would have been the minority, I would have left and started a new lfg.
This is one reason why I much prefer having 2 other friends/guildies with me minimum, so nothing like this happens, and the majority of the party knows how it’s meant to be run.
Great job Sae! Though you missed Braham’s Shield and Rox’s Quiver on the 29th.
Honestly I think this situation is a perfect scenario for the vote kick system.

This is a scenario I have in fractals all too often. Posting for experienced PS war/staff ele/AH guard and end up getting mesmers, thieves, rangers, etc. Or when we end up getting the class we do want, it’s someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing.
Had to pug 2 spots earlier today. Had 2 eles join, neither of which did a good job at even pretending to be experienced. Managed to get through to the end boss where we found out that one didn’t have any AR at all. Three of us who were in the same guild kicked him. You join a group that posts for experienced players you better be up to par.
No, I’m not against running new players through dungeons, but if I want a fast exp 80s only run then I want a fast exp 80s only run!
to be honest having to reset your look every 5 minutes seems like an enormous hassle :P but you could maybe limit this option to 10 tries?
10 tries for what? Forever? I don’t think that’d be good for anyone – Anet’s revenue or the player getting the look they desire.
If you’re going to put a gate on it you’ve seriously gotta give it a lot of thought.
i mean 10 times that you can run around with a chosen look for 5 minutes, after that it automatically becomes final. This means you can tweak around for a while and than test your 10 fav looks, or less of course.
Again, 10 times within how long? 10 times per kit? 10 times per day? 10 times per character? You’re not being specific enough.
Oh my bad it seemed fairly obvious to me that I meant per kit, so yea.. per kit
Blame it on english not being my native language, it probably wasn’t as obvious as I thought it was.
I would agree with this. 10 times per kit seems reasonable.
Like anyone cares about celebs xD
Unfortunately some people do. :P
I find it a bit strange too, involving yourself in somebody’s life (a person you don’t even know). But different strokes for different folks.
Yeah I’ve never understood that. I mean, yeah it’s good to appreciate someone’s art (music, dance, acting, etc), but it’s another thing entirely to want to pry into every deep dark recess of their personal life so you know what colour undies they wear everyday, etc.
I don’t agree with this. It’s a celebration of your character’s birthday, not a yearly “thanks for buying this character slot”.
I agree with Flesh Wound. They could have easily made it one gift per account per year. They could also have made it so we didn’t get anything at all. I’m grateful for what I have and I certainly hope that they don’t change it.
Also, no, I didn’t make all my characters at release. My youngest has only just had her first birthday, so I have to have just as much patience as you do for your gifts.
I completely agree with everything you’ve said.
People don’t seem to bother reading the descriptions nowadays. I understand the meta mindset, and I do use it most of the time, but I understand and respect those who want to play the game’s content without using stacking tricks or LoSing, or exploiting, etc. I sometimes get irritated when joining a group that has “all inclusive” or “non speedrun” in it if we constantly wipe – which imo is fair enough because who wants to spend most of their time dead? That being said I don’t rage about it or force them to use something they don’t want to use. I deal with it – because it is their party, and not mine, and continue on.
hank from breaking bad plays it. so does this guy. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5052065/?ref_=tt_cl_t10
In fact these two guys got into a huge fight over it.
That’s from a movie though, so unless the actors actually do, and there’s proof that they do, I’m going to take all that as scripted.
Bog Otter and Wooden Potatoes play!
I mean like movie stars. Or recording artist?
Well I may not quite be a recording artist just yet, but why yes! I play too
Seriously though, if any did play I doubt you’d get a response from them. If everyone knew who they were they’d probably end up getting harassed just as much as I get harassed with gold sellers.
I like to call my human necro my main, but it doesn’t feel like it much anymore. I’ve completed her personal story and world completion, as well as going through LS 2 on her first. I completed Dungeon Master with her, finished all the jumping puzzles with her first, and even made a replica of her for the Beta so I could test out how Twilight would go with her outfit.
Yet when I log on of a day, unless I’m in the mood for PvP, or farming ore/wood in 80 areas, I don’t touch her anymore. There is nothing I can do with her in PvE anymore, and it makes me very sad. The main reason I’m excited for HoT is because it’ll give me something to do with her.
What I spend my time doing nowadays is leveling up alts, completing personal story on 80’s, key farming, or doing more World Completions (I’m up to my 6th one iirc). Sometimes I start LS 2 on an 80 alt just for the rewards, but whenever I play a necro alt I miss that sense of discovery and freshness of the game I had when playing my main.
The thing is that this is a game – not a job. No one will care if you’ve played since launch and have “nothing to show for it”. If you’ve enjoyed your time in gw2 then that’s all that matters.
If you find it stale or are having a time with guilds then I’d suggest taking a break or even moving to another game.
Pretty much this. As long as you have a toon that has 100% world completion you’ll be right.
Yall are constantly hitting the gaming community up for servers. Start building better telcom cables. Hawaii did.
Australia and New Zealand….. regardless of cables are pretty far away from dallas…. just sayin
That and the land mass of Australia and NZ are vastly larger compared to Hawaii, so it’s not just easy as “building better telecom cables”.
1 server should be enough. Its not like people live in Australia anyway? Mostly just koalas, kangaroos and Crocodile Dundee afaik. NZ is just hobbits and orcs.
Please tell me you’re just being facetious.
For anyone curious, currently there are about 23.1 million+ people living here in Aus.
Yall are constantly hitting the gaming community up for servers. Start building better telcom cables. Hawaii did.
Send this through to the government and see what their reaction is.
Plus Hawaii is 10,432 km ^2, Australia is 7.692 MILLION km ^2, with a lot of people living in-land, and not just on the coast (such as myself). See the problem there?
With all this being said, OP I seriously doubt that there’ll be an Aussie server anytime soon, if at all, which is unfortunate.
There’s crosses on the Guardian starter shoulders / head piece as well.
Actually it’s an Ankh, not a cross.
With the latin meaning being a cross with handle. Ankh, cross with a handle, same difference. If we’re going to be pointing things out I mean.
Yet people didn’t get up in arms over that saying GET THAT EGYPTIAN AFTERLIFE KITTEN OUT OF MY GAME.
Seriously dude. If you can’t even tolerate other religions and lifestyles then why should they tolerate yours?
I feel like sab should be worth it money wise to make, there are lots of gem store items they can sell with it/make for it.
If they did they could sell these items again;
Super Explosive Finisher
Miniature Super Trio
Miniature Super Trio – World 2
Plush Moto Backpack Cover
Super Adventure Box o’ Fun
Infinite Continue Coin
World 1 Super Boom Box
World 2 Super Boom BoxIn addition they could also potentially release;
A new finisher
Miniature Super Trio – World 3
Plush Miya Backpack Cover
Permanent Adventure Box o’ Fun
World 3 Super Boom Box
SAB mail carrierAll combined they would definitely get plenty of gem purchases from bringing back SAB.
I would buy everything SAB related that I’m missing, and then some!
I doubt a system like this would ever be implemented though.
Having to level more characters = more playtime = more potential gem purchases = more $$$ for anet.
Yeah pretty much this. Plus anet would make a lot of people angry if something like this was implemented now. I honestly hope that this is a change that never ever ever makes its way into the game.
I said the settings weren’t that much of a hassle in the past, but they are – can I please appear invisible to those I blocked? I don’t really want one guy who’s acting weird lately to know I blocked him – but I don’t think I can take the whispers anymore.
Yeah this is quite a big issue that I think the devs overlooked at release. I’m hoping they make some major changes for this, and very soon. Gold sellers are starting to really get on my nerves.
yay! keep supporting the green quaggan backpack!. and Lana wouldnt one look great on a necro?
Not on the necros I have, but certainly on one of my thieves.
A change like this would be an improvement in my case, and seeing how it’s been mentioned so many times, I guess many would see this as actually improving the game, and even if they haven’t done it already, doesn’t mean it wouldn’t fit in. f.ex. Being able to swap to mesmer before a jumping puzzle, swap into your guardian tank because your team needs that more than your dps warrior.
And all the people who have put in all the effort to level and gear all those characters to actually swap to them for times that they are needed will be getting screwed over as well. I can swap to my <x> for <y> because I geared and leveled it. Not because I bought a thing that lets me change the profession. A lot of people would be angry about that, and I don’t blame them – I’d be one of them.
Multiple ascended armor sets? Yeah the ones who have crafted these will be screwed over too if this happens. I’m assuming you’re thinking that the stats on the armor will just change without having to change the actual armor itself. There’s another group of people that will be angry, and again I’d be right there with them.
You don’t realise it, but your suggestion would screw over many more people than you’d think.
I atleast feel like GW2 is a game where this possibility fits in
Sorry, but I just don’t. It’s been 3 years since release and this has been something that has been suggested time and time again. If it wasn’t implemented at release or shortly thereafter then I seriously doubt that it’d be implemented any time in the future. Plus there are many other things that devs could be spending their time on to actually improve the game instead of changes like this.
Nope. If something like this was implemented I’d want a bunch of refunds, which I don’t think Anet would like. It would also reduce, if not totally eradicate the need for people to buy more character slots, reducing Anet’s income – which is definitely something that they are NOT going to do.
They have a bundle for everything except EOTN on steam.
This.
It’s come this far without being f2p (though there are trial accounts iirc), so I doubt that anything would change now. The ~$20 or so for everything is worth it if you’re looking for 50/50 HoM. The time it takes to get it all done would definitely cover the money you pay for it. Just be aware that it plays drastically differently to gw2. Going back to it – for me at least – is extremely difficult.
Also I seriously doubt that asking for gw1 to be made free in a gw2 forum would do anything.
to be honest having to reset your look every 5 minutes seems like an enormous hassle :P but you could maybe limit this option to 10 tries?

This community isn’t too bad. I’ve seen ones that are much, MUCH worse.
Getting called a “scrub” and being told to “learn to play” when I was level 5 in League. Yeah there are a helluva lot worse communities out there!!
Me personally, I’m at the point where I’m not sure if the devs actually do value our feedback, or whether their PR really is as bad as it seems, or both. I would love to enjoy this game as much as I used to, but there’s nothing left but skins (until HoT was announced), and very little information on the content that I do actually want coming back (pls devs, I need SAB).
When I started coming to the forums I actually enjoyed my time here, but most of the time I spent regarding gw2 was in-game. Nowadays it’s the other way around. I’ve also grown extremely tired of people not bothering to read threads before posting, especially when a whole bunch of people have already said and/or rebutted whatever it is they’re trying to say. Or people who post suggestions for absolutely ludicrously stupid changes just because they want the game to change, not because something is broken or horribly wrong.
I honestly don’t know how gw2 can be dubbed the best community though. Between PvP and dungeon running (admittedly the worst two crowds I get around) I’ve grown my block list exponentially. For some reason these people like to think that the anonymity makes it ok for them to abuse people for whatever reason – and this is across the entire internet. I think that the competitive side of these can get too intense for people like myself (for instance I’ve seen a guildie and good friend of mine go from neutral/silly to seriously raging just because someone on his team did one single thing wrong) who just play for fun without playing to win. Yes, winning is fun, but winning isn’t everything. Hell, you even get rewarded in PvP if you lose (albeit less than if you win), so there’s really no reason to be hell-bent on winning 100% of matches (unless you’re in a tourny, then I’d totally understand).
Out of the handful of MMOs I have played, I actually found ESO to have the best community. I can only think of two incidents where I had to report and/or block someone just for being a kitten. Here in gw2 within the first year (which is about the same time I played ESO) it’s been easily into the hundreds, even though I didn’t PvP or speed clear dungeons then.
One day left for the first 10 days, you’ll just have to see.
Also; unless you get a dev post, we are all players just like you, and we all know about upcoming sales just as much as you do – so no, we don’t know anything about what is coming next, but I’m sure keen to see what there will be!
I want the makeover kit to be able to change race like it did back then…
I dislike being Asuran for my mesmer.
To my knowledge the makeover kits never actually did allow race changes, as devs have mentioned it would mess up the personal story a bunch.
wondering if we’ll ever get any way to disable whispers from non mutual friends/guild mates/squadmates/party mates/team mates/etc? don’t wanna be spammed with any more gold spam than there already is
That’s the whole reason I started this thread – to show the devs that the lack of privacy settings is not reasonable, and to hopefully get some dev attention (which has thankfully happened), and hopefully going one step further – getting these settings put into the game.
Also for anything but WvW your server choice will avhe 0 impact due to mega servers system, where everyone for every server get thrown to same instances (unless one get filled up then a new is created
Pretty much this.
Unless they have a specific server for your country that is located in your country, I doubt that there’d be a way to reduce that ping.
I feel you though. I’m in Australia, and my ping is 300 on average.
They’ve indicated before that they can’t just “flip a switch” and turn old events on- they’d have to take time from HoT to make things work again. I’m incredibly bummed that it’s unlikely we’ll get a Halloween event given HoT’s release date, but them’s the shakes.
Yeah, agreed.
Plus if they were to bring anything back from the past SAB should be the first in line.
to be honest having to reset your look every 5 minutes seems like an enormous hassle :P but you could maybe limit this option to 10 tries?

Please do continue the talk here;
Yeah I was wondering where all these green quaggan backpacks came from. I’d love to be able to get this and other historical gem store items!
I do like this idea, but Zalladi brings up a very good point.
Maybe have the cooldown until the next reset, being that you can only have a change on one character per day? I’m not sure how many that would affect (it might affect players like myself who have the perma hairstyle kit and tend to change their character’s look 2-3 times a day, but I’m sure that’s only a small percentage), but I feel that that would be fair.
I agree with the OP on the human females (I like the other races’ dresses though, which is one reason why I bought it). When standing on a flat surface the train of the dress clips through the ground. That’s another thing that needs to be reworked.
I don’t know why they exclude them from Map chat but give whispers. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? O.O
I would think if a new player had questions they would be answered in map chat quicker rather than whispering every person they see until they actually find someone that will take the time to answer them.
the whisper means only 1 person can potentially be harassed every 30s. Map chat would mean a gold spam in map chat every 30s.
Yeah this is probably why.
I don’t think that having the map chat disabled is going to stop gold sellers. I really hope someone has a serious think about these settings and put some into play.
I think that the best course of action would be to have it so you can choose who whispers you (friends, guildies, party members, everyone, etc), and also to have a whisper filter, so if you put the word “fluff” in the filter, no pm with the word “fluff” in it would go through. That way everyone can (potentially) block gold sellers without blocking friends, guildies or randoms who just want to chat.
The person isn’t whispering you while you’re blocked. They’re whispering you, then blocking you, then unblocking to whisper you again, and then blocking you again. Repeat until they get bored. So, it’s not the block system failing; it’s them being annoying little twits. Block them, and they won’t be able to talk to you.
Or they’re appearing offline and whispering. Unfortunately, this has happened to me a lot.
Feel free to post ideas/complaints in this thread;
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Whispering-privacy-functions-are-STILL-needed/page/2
Instead of trying to put limits on accounts making it impossible to whisper people until <x> is achieved, how about suggesting an option that we can choose to use. That way no one is affected unless they specifically go out of their way to change a setting.
Because they all have holes in them. The privacy options people have suggested thus far filter various layers out until you get to a “general public” – people who have no actual relationship with you, and you’re basically given the choice “allow ALL of them or block ALL of them”.
Thinking about the private messages I’ve received that I was OK with receiving in the past, that would block a fair chunk of them. I really only want to switch off PMs from actual spammers, and I would be more interested in applying a heuristic to do that instead of assuming everyone I don’t know is a spammer. If it’s one I could turn on or off in privacy options, that’s fine.
Edit: Also, I’m not advocating banning all whispering until something is achieved – just bulk whispering.
I understand that they may have “holes” in them, but just because they may have those inconsistencies doesn’t mean that we should just add another time/rank/level unlock to new accounts. I think putting a gate on whispers would bring back suppressed memories of NPE (seriously are we all forgetting about what that did?).
If you were ok with getting pms from the general public, then if these settings were implemented, then you would have the option to not turn them on (as I, and a few other people, have already mentioned earlier in this thread). If something isn’t affecting you it doesn’t mean it’s not affecting others. Heck, I’d be ok with blocking the general public from whispering me about 80% of the time I’m online.
That being said, I think having these options AND a pm blocking filter would be a good idea. Sort of like the message blocking feature on youtube. Add a word/phrase into the box, and nothing that contains those words will come through. That way those who only want to block spammers will be able to do so, while letting the general public pm them, and those – like myself – who want to reduce their “contactability” would also be able to do so.
With THAT being said, I don’t know much about programming, so I don’t know how difficult something like this would be to implement.
Dye Collection : They could divide it in 3 collection. One for all Common/Uncommon, one for all standard Rare and one of all exclusive dye.
They could also add in ones for each dye set like
Flame Dye Collector
- Collected all dyes in the Flame set
Frost Dye Collector
- Collected all dyes in the Frost set
Taimi’s Dye Collector
- Collected all dyes in Taimi’s set
etc
Hypothetically, what would you consider ‘good rewards’? Let’s examine two cases:
Case 1, gold is abundant. Each monster now drops 10g on death. In 2 days you now have tens of thousands of gold. You feel RICH! Except now skins on TP cost hundreds of thousands of gold, gold to gem ratio is now 100 to 1 and…nothing actually changed. You’ve added several 0’es to your bank account, and similarly increased the prices across the board. The system has leveled itself off and you are no richer than before.
Case 2 – EVERYTHING is abundant. Exotics drop like rain, legendaries are rewarded for doing dynamic events, ghastly grinning shields, BL keys and dyes are sold on vendors for coppers. Everyone has everything. Great! Except this game has very little long term content. Once everyone has all the shinies, they simply quit because there is only so many times you can run a dungeon, fractal or SW when there is no longer any reward in doing so. Game is deserted other than occasional roleplayer or a new player who has not gone through the limited content available.
Lets face it, certain amount of treadmill is necessary for every MMO. GW2 does a fairly good job at making it a light treadmill where most things are reasonably achievable (with a few exceptions). Risk vs reward is a very tough thing balance and I think GW2 does a reasonable job at.
While I hate RNG as much as the next person, you have said that so well. I know I certainly would have quit by now if there was no grind for skins, as I’ve already completed the content I want to, and the rest is just repeating the same content, except I’m doing it for the rewards instead of just experiencing the content again.
The first scenario is ok to start with, but as you experience the shift in the economy it is pretty horrid. I played TERA for a while, and the economy there is pretty much like in scenario 1. Once you get to level ~50 gold starts dropping like flies. You feel rich, then you check the auction house for cool skins, and the ones you want are hundreds of thousands of gold. Then you feel poor again.
Tell you what, I’m really glad they’re changing the way we obtain fractal weapons. One of my friends does nothing but fractals – he has since they came out – and he is still missing the dagger. The day after he tells me this, one of our guildies gets a fractal dagger. RNGsus was obviously frowning upon him (though it is pretty funny!).
So I can use any warhorn and get that sound?
Unfortunately, yes.
Looks like the OP thinks the warhorn sound is completely and utterly appealing, not appalling. Lol.
I guess the devs made one person happy at least. The rest of us will have to learn to play without any sounds at all I guess :/
I don’t like the Electro Blue – it’s just too intense (same with the other Electro dyes).
I’m still deciding but am more tempted to get one of the Glint’s dyes.
Is it worth ignoring prices in this case and getting the colour you want (assuming it costs at least more than a few gold), or is it better to use the opportunity to buy what is currently expensive?
How is this even a question? Do you seriously need advice on whether to get something you want or something you don’t want that’s expensive? Get what you want.
Or – as may be the case with some – if you’re missing a handful that you can’t cover with all your bday presents, find out what ones are the cheapest on the TP and get the others you need from the presents.
With all my characters (except the revenant nameholders) getting one exclusive dye each, I would still be missing 8 colours
<
It’s just a way to make players buy new char slots.
Birthday presents are probably one of the last things people are thinking about when buying character slots.
Birthday presents are the first thing I think about when deciding whether or not to reroll a character. I’m just glad I don’t have to anymore.
So I can use any warhorn and get that sound?
Unfortunately, yes.
That would defeat the purpose of a flash sale, which is what Anet is going for.
Pretty much this.
Remove items from a store for long periods of time to up the demand for them, release it for a week or so and reap the rewards. Rinse repeat.
Sorry OP but if you miss out you miss out. You’ll have to wait til they come around next time.
Blame it on english not being my native language, it probably wasn’t as obvious as I thought it was.
