A warrior burst for most parts is a 3/4 for 2H and 1/2 for sword. Only instant ones are mace and axe.

Love it when people say “real pvp” as in fact sPvP is anything but “real pvp”. How is it that sPvP is real pvp? From my years of MMO pvp is player vs player. And by that one means killing another player vs pvE which is killing a mob. sPvP in GW2 can have very little about killing someone else. As long as you can prevent the other team from standing in a circle longer than your team does you win. You don’t have to kill them to achieve this. Same with WvW as objective of that is to kill a mob in the end then stand in a circle to timer counts down.
So saying sPvP is “real pvp” is just not true.
If Temporal Curtain actually stacked with other swiftness it would not be problem and TC would be awsome. As it is once you have swiftness on it will not stack at all. Guardian Symbol is same except if time left on your swiftness is less than time of Symbol swiftness it will overwrite. Mesmer curtain does not.
This is due to Anet business as usally and making the easiest possible change to fix a problem. People running back and forth threw curtain stacking speed each time. It was felt a class should not have perma swiftness….What should of done is made it so that TC does stack just not with itself. But was easier change to just make TC not stack with anything.
Might be a better example if can get this to happen where ele does not take any dmg from others. Is this something that happens all time or just sporadic?

I don’t understand you OP. If you want to swap weapons (and hate kits) so much why use engineer? Why not use a warrior or thief? Engineers dont suit your playstyle, fine, but you can’t force us to follow your playstyle.
Because the OP is basically trying to suggest fixes for Eng. Your whole premise is bass ackwards in logic. By your telling him weapon sawp is icky and should not be added limits his play style. His suggestion to add weapon swaps would in no way effect your play style because you could opt out of using it. Options expands a class and allows people to have different play styles, The exact opposite of your not wanting options to but you can’t force us to follow your playstyle.
Beyond this, the information I’ve said based on what I’ve read, I can’t offer further explanation as to why we don’t have weapon swapping. However, one minor point of contention, weapon swapping is technically optional. As a warrior, you can stay with a rifle out 24/7 and still do passably well. Any class/weapon set can do this, engineers are simply forced to if they choose to forgo a kit. Still, I shudder to think how anet would ‘balance’ us if they gave us more weapons and a weapon swap…
This is true. On my warrior rifle build I use sword/Warhorn off hand to add escape and versatility to my warrior. Imagine that. Eng king of versatility is less versatile than other classes. Well except if you give up utility slots.
IMO Guesting and doing a zone boss should not be allowed. People are using it to hop to a server on alts and do them 3 in row to avoid wait times. But this impacts people on server from getting in due to overflow.
It’s because Engineers already have ridiculously high adrenaline gain from the tools traitline via adrenaline pump. In addition to easily available permanent vigor and swiftness… It makes engineers have a ridiculous number of dodges.
Yeah, blowing all of our toolbelt skills to almost gain an entire dodge is sure ridiculous!

because that trait (vigor) is actually good, and not only by engineer standards but like really good (BAM NERF HAMMER!).
What is funny is that they nerfed our vigor gain months ago to have 5CD. But Ele just got it nerfed(changed) last patch. That is one reason eles where so hard to kill was 2min vigor uptime. Now though it is kinda only 100% uptime in combat because in “nerf” they made it 100% chance on crit and not 33%
I want to say the official reason is our access to kits, which take up utility slots, which are then give back as our class trait as toolbelt skills. However, toolbelt skills aren’t as good as utilities and we don’t have a definite class mechanic because of it. (Some people would say toolbelt, others kits, etc.)
As for why so few weapons, again kits. We can have a rifle, pistols, a shield, grenades, a bomb, an elixir gun, and a flamethrower, which on paper looks like a lot of unique weapon choices. However, they also thought that access to up to 4 of these weapons/ weapon sets at once was too versatile, and then put a ‘versatility tax’ on our main weapons, making us one of the weakest (if not the weakest) class by default.
Many people have claimed engineer was a rushed class, I can’t say if this is true or not, but it is in human nature to stick with bad choices rather than admitting you were incorrect. Our traits often seem unfinished, with some utility skills receiving 5-7 traits focused on them, and others receiving only one or two. While other classes have similar problems, none are quite as pronounced as the engineer.
Still, it seems like engineers are moving towards being a better refined class, as we’re no longer considered the worst in pvp, many of our bugs have been sorted, and we’ve received numerous buffs to various aspects of our gameplay.
I already explained why it CANNOT be kits. You cant balance something around what one “might” do in this situation.
By saying “IF” they use kits with weapon swap they will be OP. You are saying “IF” they dont use kits without weapon swap they are UP. Because you just made a balance decision of an entire class based on what they might potentially do. (if they use a kit they’re balanced, if they dont they’re UP)
Also, you can have anywhere from 1 to 4 kits. So saying 6 weapon options is the magic number for op, but only 1 (no kits) isnt and 2-5 isnt? That doesnt make sense.
End point, it cant be kits. If it is, then we should always be allowed to have access to them regardless of what utilitys we use. Because weapon swapping isnt an option, to have a kit is.
But you see Anet does balance that way. IE granade nerf awhile back. It would be OP if you took traits and with sigils.
Another example is upcoming mesmer change to GS#1 into a beam that hits all enemies inbetween Mesmer and target. In same thought they mentioned reducing Shatter dmg to compensate this. Not even considering that people use other weapons than Great-sword. And most big hitting shatter builds use a Staff/Sword+pistol or Focus.
Same as elementalist, they think it would be too OP to have even more skills at our disposal.
But a Ele does have more skills than any other class while at same time having 3 stun breakers that also if traited can apply buffs.
Problem is Eng has to give up so much to get more than 5 weapon skills.
Simple Answer is that Eng was last class made and was barely out Alpha stage when game was launched.
You can see it in fact that Anet calls Eng a “mid-range” fighter. Like that even makes since. What good is it to be at mid-range vs full range anyway. In WvW being Mid-Range is more of death than being good. That is why alot of engines go Grenades in WvW.
Lack of thought went into the rushed class. And it will probably never be fixed because Game Devs never like to admit a class was not finished.

Funny thing is that there is already a counter to bunkers. It is called Condition damage. So instead of fixing that mechanic of game they want to add another layer to balance.
Can anyone explain why Natural Vigor is 5 pt talent and Adrenal Implant is a 30pt?

Adrenal Implant : 50% faster endurance regeneration.
Even though wording is kinda different isn’t it same thing or am I missing something?
Also you have to get Devs to show up and care more about WvW. If forums are any indication they really love sPvP as that is only forum that get’s regular posts.
Boon Hate idea is not good because it makes boons a negative now. So I can imagine the crap storm a guardian will get for giving people boons etc.
Also if boons are too powerful then fix that don’t add another stupid mechanic to balance. Blizzard learned this lesson after years. It creates a circular bbalancing cycle. Want to nerf add X, Now X is too powerful we need to add Y to fix X. Y made Z too powerful add Q to mix etc.

I really really do not understand how portal is OP. In Tier I play one ALL Servers have access to this ability so not really tipping any 1 sides balance.

Yes they are. In a sense that we stay close to ranged enemies and a bit far from melee ones, effectively dishing damage in both ranges from almost all our weapons.

Man. Rifle 4, Pistol 5, grenade 4, bomb 5, magnet 5, net turret are all very reliable CONTROL, no other class can bring this amount of control with him.

Um most class actually are not stuck with 1 range asspect. Only class that are is a Ele really due to no weapon swap and maybe guardian but they can have range too so extent. Ever other class can function at range and melee just fine.
I guess we just disagree that changing things slowly is as big a problem. I think they could go a little bit quicker, but not by much. I’ll just wait and enjoy what I have now.
They could do changes more quickly if they would use this new idea I came up with. A server that is open to customers that you place test code on and let customers test out balance and find bugs with. I am such a genius to think of this new and innovative method that no other MMO has ever used. Anet just scared to use my idea because it is so new and not proven method of helping QA process.

I see little to no posts about them, their strengths and weakness and what builds they have good synergy with. I always liked the idea of turrents, but it never made sense before to try them. Thoughts?
Probably because no one has actually gone out and tried to make a dungeon-viable build given how weak they currently are.
I would imagine the setup would be something like Healing Turret + Rifle Turret + Rocket Turret + Tool Kit for damage.
No idea how traits would be split, but I’d imagine Tools and Inventions would be the obvious focus.
Also with them being weak is the cooldown on them. If you spec into turrents they are your main dmg source and dropping them to kill a mob then moving on is sily concept. You should only have cool down on turret if it gets killed. Picking it up should reduce CD by 100%.
Not to be a negative nancy on this post but all these types of post are waste of people time writing them. Devs don’t even staff enough people to handle mundane tasks like fixing tooltip errors. I just find it hard to think they would spend time on creating more complex code to anything. 90% of “class balance” changes are just changing numbers around.
What is kinda ironic about this post is reading it after just 15K 4 people ikittenerg with my Warrior Kill Shoot. It only 1 shoot 1 of them though had to volley to actually but 2 of other 3 down and 1 dodged:(. And it was less buttons than 100nade eng uses. As I was already 100% Adrenalin I hit Haste F1 and Then Volley 2secs boom.
Keep In mind that the SOTG is an entirely tpvp and spvp based discussion, the changes they’re stating MAY or MAY NOT be implemented in wvwvw because of the possible pve/wvwvw and tpvp split.
Well kinda stupid to change stealth because of sPvP as thief’s are meh in there do to not being able to achieve main goal of the aspect of sPvP, capping. This change has to be about WvW because dmg nerf in sPvP that hit thief already was done. Plus add in fact that you can not overload stats as can in WvW thief again are not as bad as in WvW where they can have 110% crit dmg.

So how is something that everyone has access to evenly overpowered? Only ones who can not use same exact food are uplvls and if that is reason we might as well get rid of all gear with 2 or more stats on it.
I definately feel that all the basic Ele skills should do more damage than they do. Compared to levelling my warrior, Ele feels like a wet noodle, which is wrong.
Every class is UP in PvE level compared to a warrior. GS 100B is easiest to do in PvE.
You have to consider the damage of your pet. If your pet cant hit anything then you havent L2P the class. Two objects moving in the same direction with a 3 second distance between them will maint this distant unless one is slowed or speed-up.
Not true at all. It is not Ranger that can overcome pet by L2P. Fact is that pet is good when person the ranger is attacking does not L2P vs Ranger pet.
If you have a pet attacking you just run around plain and simple. A Pet can not attack a irregular moving target. Run around a tree and pathing causes the pet to lose distance etc.

Each hit of Double Strike (the first auto-attack in the 3-part chain) hit you for 1k, and Wild Strike (part 2) hit for THREE THOUSAND. What on earth were you wearing? Paper? Might as well have run in to battle in the nude. There is something seriously wrong here.

My semi-CG thief hits for this easy on most targets. Problem with WvW dmg is +% critical damageit is too much of a boost to dmg vs toughness. Whyy thief does so much dmg is fact you can spec in 1 trait line and increase crit chance and crit dmg. Ele/Mesmer/Rangers can also. But a GC ele is to fragile and GC Ranger also but ranger also has crap dmg on weapons so big burst not so big. That leaves mesmer who is all so a powerful class in WvW due to this.
What about the same build with shield vs. pistol in the other weapon slot? Seems to me that would be better for WvWvW anyway since you’d mostly spam 1-3 on your weapons and glue shot is a pain in the rear to use.
Blowtorch is mucho dmg in someone’s mug.

If not, he dies and now I have a long cooldown. 2) First of all, my pets aren’t really dead that long. I said “if it really bothers the team I can leave it dead” but usually I don’t because it doesn’t get targeted enough to really matter. Ask the people I’ve saved and helped complete smooth runs with whether they’d rather play with me or someone else. I do just fine. That being said, the fact is that you don’t need MAX DPS for the JM fight. You just need teamwork and positioning. You also need stability to run and pick up crystals and rangers have a lot of stability / stun break / dodge / evade (shared anguish + stability training / RaO / SoR / LR / Swoop).
Let’s just list out the weaknesses of every profession? I mean, how come when a knockdown strikes the team and I’m the only one left standing to hit SoR and stand everyone up, how come people don’t say “WHOA THAT WAS COOL RANGERS ROCK”? Or when I rezzed your warrior pal who still needs to learn how to dodge? Search and Rescue has saved more new warriors in dungeons than I care to count.

You were being sarcastic about shatter mesmer being a strong dmg build and implying that they must have clones out. Totally missing whole point of what a shatter mesmer does with said clones. Create them and “Shatter” them to get the dmg.

So this is what it takes to be a scrub tier 3 server these days? In the past week I have seen more speed hacks, teleport hacks and kitten like the screens below than I have in the past 8 months. After we repelled an assault on Dreaming Bay we find a group of SOS trash hiding “underneath” the keep – they finally got bored and surfaced inside the inner walls. Unfortunately for them, we could see them in hiding and once they came out of the woodwork, we slaughtered them on the spot.

For what it’s worth, that was an actual case of cheating.. They killed the other guy talking in the screenshot by the klovan guards, I downed the thief, and was about to down the ele when he was imob and stunned by the guard, then he speed hacked up the hill to SM in an instant to save himself while attuned to water. Mind you this was also about 5 minutes after JS mysteriously flipped halfway to T3 when there was no mesmers in the tower and no bodies that had not released. They didn’t even bother to destroy our catas across the bridge that were in clear view, which makes me think the same group flipped it for the lulz.
I agree that yelling cheats isn’t very productive when most wvw players don’t understand all the game mechanics, but it gets really old to see the same players cheating (I’ve seen this duo before), and on top of that ganking the hapless.
Ha and I bet this was the person I was talking about in my last post. was a D/D ele and he is still hacking because Anet does nothing.
That is a good solid build and can play around with different types traits in Alchemy line.

In PvP however i can assure you that just because you dont KNOW of any better builds and are not able to come up with decent builds on your own it doesnt mean that there ARENT any better builds out there.

You really should condition yourself to use hotkeys alot of fights it would help you a lot as each 100ms it takes to to move mouse to click in a 20sec fight adds up.
Another tip for Thief in shadow refuge use your GW#5 to knock them out of it. It will force them out of stealth and give reveal buff.

Here is a pet window showing buffs/debuffs with duration that you can see at all times, way more helpful than the awful bar in this game, maybe it can help give you some ideas on how to do it right.
Hell everquest around 2000 had a better UI for pets than GW2. So sad how bad and archaic Anet made this UI. No text file logging combat dmg windows does not work 1/2 time. No pet dmg in combat windows. And all chat stuck to only 1 allowable window. Wow 2000 is calling Anet they want there UI back.

Good fights so far though. Definitely been interesting. Had a lot of fun on DB BL after reset teetering in and out of Outmanned, but still holding our own.
And as far as I’m aware, ANet don’t even have login servers in Australia. If I remember rightly from what I saw, they’re in Malaysia or somewhere similar.
That is such a dump statement considering the only people talking about night capping are Yak’s and little hint they are actually a Tier 4 server that pops up here when Mag has a bad week. No one kittenes about night capping in T3 because Dragonbrand is 75% SEA population. And from what I see they never complain about NA night capping them. And other servers in Green spot for last several months has been a T2 drop down. So your statement about T3 and whinning about night capping is just you trying to sound elitist IMO.
ROFL I go to sleep and we are all out OWNING… I wake up to see we got night capped and sent to last place… ANet needs to make actual region locked servers. Clearly for WVW only. I don’t care if you have North American friends. That’s fine. Guest to them for PVE dungeons. But this whole flimsy system for WvW is just plain bad.
I play on a North American server… During North American primetime we dominate. Then the oceanic guilds get on a NA server and we lose… I’m living in the twilight zone if I’m the only person who sees the flaw in this system.
I’m not completely bitter. I’m happy to see Yak’s stepped up in T3 during NA primetime and was destroying. Way to represent. =D There is no shame in losing to oceanic when you play on an NA server. We need tougher immigration reform! Vote for me!
Yea those dam Aussies need to play on the dam oceanic time zone servers and leave NA alone. Oh wait.
And Owning you do during NA is same thing them owning during oceanic/SEA time slots. DB NA people are not numerous same as YB oceanic. How think DB oceanic feels when they lose everything to NA time slots. It is not their choice to play on NA it is only choice other than picking a EU server that is 3x distance away than NA ones. But I rarely see oceanic/SEA people whining on forums about all their owning when during their prime time is for nothing.
And BTW Even in NA people don’t play just at same time you do, so why should they be locked out of WvW because they work nights.
