Yeah, I think I’ll just quote everything spoj said. That will get the job done.

Yeah I got that, but we don’t know which champion? Bah…

Guys, where can I get this thing. Seriously. Speak!!!
EDIT:
On a side-note that dark 1-h sword is pure sex.
And just how are you going to be tanking when the enemies are hitting the guy doing the most damage instead?
So much truth
this kind of truth is relative to your own experiences.
In my case, they just don’t, at least not in my party. Somehow (and seriously somehow cause i have no idea how it works behind the curtain) game’s secret aggro formula works just perfect with me (almost 4K armor, 35K hp, 3.6K attak power, always shield on and closest target to the mob). It is sooooo rare that any mob choose a different character than me that it only occurs when a character is SO weak (around 15 levels lower) that it stick to it until its portrait is gray. Besides that case, that never happens.
Still nice to see monkeys jumping and panicking with red circles “aaahhh I’m lvl 80 with less than 20K hp!!! aaaaaah!!!”
Why do they need to jump around in panic? It’s your job as a Tank to help them out, isn’t it?
No one is forcing you or anyone else to play with MF armor players.
If you play with friends, this discussion is meaningless. Noone cares if 5 buddys play fotm 70 in full MF gear.
Its only about pugs. And in a pug, everyone can force me to play with him, even if he is a full MF-leech. I can’t do anything about it.
You can post something like “lf3m CoE path 1/2/3, any class, please bring decent damage – no magicfind”. Then, suddently, Wombi teh Warrior joins your party.
…And now?
Yep still up to you. If someone is playing MF armor and you know about it, drop out and find a different group. Or kick the offender if you specified ‘no MF’ and find another player. You are not forced to play with anyone.
Edited the post a few times, sorry
The point is: I don’t know. How should I?

As long as I have no tool to decide what gear Wombi has, he can do whatever he wants.
Kicking somebody beacause of “wrong” gear is NOT the same thing as forcing your playstyle on others. Its nothing more than your personal freedom to decide whith who you want to play. I don’t loose anything if someone kicks me.
If I break into your house and hold a gun against your head, well, then we can talk about “force”….

I must laught on some comments here:-D My Engineer damage without Bloodlust stacks and power food:
/Edit: Bomb has half sec cast so you have 18k dps just from AA:-)
And 1/2 sec aftercast, so your AA deals about 8.5k dps.
Tier 1: Warrior, Ranger, Guardian, Thief
Tier 2: Mesmer, Elementalist
Tier 3: Engineer, NecromancerBerserker ele and necro outdps guardians and thieves by a ton were talking as much as 2x their dps. Thieves hit hard but their cleaving damage with sword is not that strong pistolwhip got overnerfed.
Actually, you’ll find that they don’t.
Give me that necro build yo >_>
Yeah, me too.
So my question is how do you get equipment in this game?
For berserker armor, you can do Citadel of Flame, path 1 and 2. You get 60 tokens each day per path and can trade 180 – 330 tokens for one piece of armor.
If you do your daily/monthly, you can buy ascended trinkets in LA. If not, look for a friend/guildmate who can craft trinkets and start mining the orichalcum ore in orr. Or just farm money and buy them.
Maybe this helps: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Armor_stat_combinations
Wearing full zerk gear with scholar runes, your empowering might can realistically maintain 10-14 stacks of group might by yourself depending on how often you’re critting with sword 1 chain (around ~90% crit rate with fury).
empowering might has an 1 sec internal cooldown. You won’t get more than 4-5 stacks of might out of that. And your F1 wont be refreshed that much in important fights against a boss or 3-4 silvermobs.
But otherwise, your right. Sword autochain is strong.
Warriors do more damage
The idea of guardians not dealing enough damage is a self fulfilling prophecy. People think, that guardians can’t dps, so they equip them with defensive stats and then they complain, that they don’t deal enough damage.
I haven’t calculated it myself, but some people I have trust in actually said, that a buffed guardian deals more damage than a buffed warrior.
The Necro’s base health at level 80 is 9,212. I’m positing an implausible scenario where DS scales off Vitality very strongly but still only scales off Base Health by 1:1. 9,212 extra HP on top of 916 million can safely be ignored.
Well, okay then, but if you pump up scaling with additional vit, but not with base hp, what has this to do with reality? And maybe I am wrong here, but my necromancer has 18000 base Health, not 9121. Is this different in DS?
Let me put it like this.
Imagine that your total LF weren’t governed by Vitality at all. Let’s say you have 10,000 “HP” worth of LF as the base, with 0:1 Vitality scaling. In this scenario, Toughness would be far and away the best Necro stat because it would give the Necro everything everyone else gets (increasing health bar’s EHP) but it would also increase your DS’s EHP. Vit gear’s 6500 HP does nothing for you, whereas Toughness gear’s 400 Armor gives you +33% EHP, or +3,333 EHP while increasing all LF gains by 33%.
Now, let’s imagine that DS had ridiculous Vitality scaling, like 1,000,000:1. Base Vitality is 916, so at a base you would get 916 million HP, with +92 million per 10% regen (a few thousand more from the Necro’s high base health, but base health only scales at 1:1 so it’s ignorable for our purposes).
Stack Toughness gear and your DS gives you 1.22 billion EHP with +120 million per 10% gain. Stack Vitality gear and it would give you 2.4 billion EHP with + 240 million per 10% gain.
The point is, scaling matters. Toughness’ effect is static: +33% EHP. Vitality’s effect, however, is magnified greatly based on how well it scales. You can check the first post for my math about how the two stats break down at 12:1 Vit scaling.
You made two mistakes. First, you can’t set vit scaling to 0:1. Zeroes in multiplications are bad^^
And second, if you assume vit scales 1.000.000:1 you cannot ignore base hp. If you, for example, say, vit scales 1:22, because it scales 1:10 normal and 1:12 in ds, well, then you dont have 18.000 hp but 18.000 (normal) + 18.000 × 1.2 (DS) = 39.600 base HP. In my calculation, that would be (39.600 + v x 22)x(…) = 22 x (1800 + v)x(…) – and the 22 would be as irrelevant as the 10, same conclusion.
And if vit would scale 1:10^34, Anet would give you 18000 × 10^33 base hp. But since vit scales 1:10 and we have 18.000 base hp, thats off topic
(edited by Molch.2078)
The current PvE meta is all about damage and avoiding damage. You avoid damage with dodging, aegis and reflection, not with vitality/toughness.
Go full berserker and trait for damage (e.g. 0/30/0/30/10).
Unlike toughnes ore healing, this build requires an active defense – if you make mistakes, you die.
If you don’t have that much confidence in you or your group, try a berserker/knights mix and/or an altruistic healing build (something like 0/0/30/30/10). On the plus side, you will survive without any efford. On the down side you deal about 1/3 of the berserkers dps.
People said, that this AH-knights/zerker guardian is actually the way to go in some places, but I have yet to discover them…
Anyone read my post, where I proofed, that it doesn’t matter if vit scales 1:1 or 1:100.000.000?
Yes, if you have more HP, the % based heal of DS gives you more total HP, but with more toughness and less vit, those lower hp are more worth, because you have more toughness to protect them.
I believe a Dev said toughness reduces damage taken in DS aswell.
If this is true, it doesn’t matter how much hp you have in Deathshroud.
Your EHP are HP * Armor
HP = 18000 (base hp for necro) + (additional vitality) x 10 (bc 1 vit = 10 HP)
= 18000 + v x 10
Armor = 920 (base defens from exotic light gear) + (additional toughness)
= 920 + 916 + t
EHP = (18000 + v x 10) x (920 + 916 + t)
If we interpert 18000 base hp as 1800 base vitality, we can rewrite this as
EHP = 10 x (1800 + v) x (1836 + t)
Now we can maximize this function. Remember: f(t,v) is max if and only if 10 x f(t,v) is max. And since this 10 was the amount of hp we get out of 1 vit, DS doesnt matter. If DS is 120% your HP, then 1 vit would grant 22 HP – and nothing would change. If one vit gives you 1.000.000.000 HP, the optimal vit/tough-ratio would not change.
Something like a x b (under the domain a + b = constant) is maximized for a = b. Since 1800 ~ 1836 this means – to achieve the maximal amout of EHP – you have to balance tough and vit.
PS.: Probably bad english^^ go ahead and ask questions if something is not clear.

No. I am impressed by skill and knowledge. Not by mindless grind.
Master the game content. If you put some effort into it, it’s not that hard.
Showing your legendary to 20 peeps in LA is nice, but thats nothing compared to joining a pug, watching them die during a hard boss fight – and then finish the boss all by yourself (like a boss). Now you won’t have 20 people saying “Oh, nice weapon you have there… whatever…” but 4 people with open mouths saying “WAT TEH FRIGGING HELL JUST HAPPEND!!!???”
Those 4 guys won’t forget you
Hey, Trahearne did nothing. I do stuff. Thats a difference
He summoned those golems that one time. Far more than Kormir ever did :p
Kormir sent all of her sunspears into the most obvious trap ever. Thats quite an achievment. Bet she did it for the points…
Hey, Trahearne did nothing. I do stuff. Thats a difference
I am a hero.
Everyone can be a hero.
But there is a secret.
And today I am going to share it with you, so listen carefully.
Any time you play this game.
Every hour.
Every minute.
Every second.
Ask yourself:
Am I having fun?
If the answer is “no”…
…STOP
I don’t care if your farming for your legendary.
If you don’t like grind, STOP.
What, your half way done? Awesome.
Now sell your stuff, get somthing different and do something you enjoy.
I don’t care if you need those achievment points.
If you don’t like the dailys or the new content- don’t even bother.
I have ~5k and I earnd every single one with joy.
I don’t care what you do as long you do it because you WANT to.
Not because you need to. Or have to.
I like the dungeon Arah. I played it over and over again.
With friends.
Pugs.
And all by myself.
And every time I finish a path with one or zero mates.
Every time I am the only survivor at Lupicus – but still manage to rezz somebody and save the day.
Every time a newbie says “thank you for your awesome guide”
I feel like a HERO.
You should try that. It’s kinda cool.

10/10 would recommend.
On the other hand, its a well known build used by many players. Not sure if a guide was needed.

I like my AH Zerker/Knights guardian. I usually use him for pugs if I’m tired/had a long day and/or want to eat while playing. AH is the way to go
I like the metallic looks, but the shoulders are a little over the top. Probably looks better ingame, with a weapon n stuff. Still 8/10. Needs Twilight.
My Warrior looks similar, so i’ll post a picture of my mesmer instead:

Hills ar ballanced, you’re just bad. Maybe you should play a hill yourself to see how “op” they are…
They are actually kinda up. Low mobility, no real acces to stability, just like the necromancer…

FGS is not 100% reliable – you need a wall
Therefore, the most damaging weapon SET is FGS + Wall. gg
Pffbbghbtbtbtt. You call yourself a berserker convert and you don’t even use berserker/berserker trinkets?
I had one condition: do not go below 14k HP.
Full zerker with 25 points in honor has 14.5k hp or more.
No, it doesnt.
Full zerker with 30 in honor doesnt even break 14k. I’d be happy to see your evidence however.
Heres mine, evidence to back up a claim, that is:
Stupid WvW-bonus, nobody asked for you…
Yeah okay, you are right, but the difference betwen 13.800 and 14.000 is not worth a discussion.

You should melee everything you can. Try melee, if you fail, try again. You can swap to the cookie cutter Longbow/Bear combination anytime, but melee > range in, idk, 99% of the PvE content?
I deleted my original post since I realized that it contained to much offense and to little argument.
So lets try that in a civil way
Most dangerous abilitys (aka the ones that wipe your team) are usualy AoE. You cant tank Subject Alphas Ice AoE or Lupis AoE in P2. You cant tank something like the risen hunters bouncing axe, too.
The few singletarget hits in this game (the ones that don’t one hit you anyway) are usually of little thread. There is simply nothing to tank in this game.
Their character names are “X” and “Y”.
Thats against the forum rules. Edit it out or your thread is down in no time.
Warrior: Also won’t take damage from non-warrior professions.
tbh I think that would be a litle bit OP. I dislike the idea of giving warriors acess to more combofields. This is PvP related? I agree that warriors are not in a good place there, but that would be probably to much.
Well, it’s not about using Dwayna all the time. If you want burst heal and condition remove, use signet, if you want block, use shelter – and if you want the best possible hps, use dwayna. And you can’t do that unless you are a human.
It’s all about the ability to adapt. The other healskills are good, too. I wish OP would have made that clear. Oh wait, he did:
- Shelter: A nice option. Being able to block some attacks is great in some instances. For instance, you double-dodged in front of Alpha and you’re now out of endurance. Well, you got a get out of trouble card with this one as you can regain your endurance while skill evading his attack. …
- Signet of Resolve: Another nice option. Over time, you get healed in the same range as Prayer to Dwayna. In terms of pure heal, this is the best shot for a guardian without race consideration. …
Of course the difference is not that big. Choosing a race you like is more important. I wish OP would have made that clear. Oh wait, he did:
In this game except for lore and personal preferences, …

I dont even see eviscerate in the guys rotation for Warrior.
Why should you use eviscerate as a warrior in a rotation?
I don’t get it. Why is this a nerf?
Seriously, not even in a group is this good. You have to do 20K damage to make up the damage loss with 0 condition stat.
If you don’t manage to do 20k damage in 6 seconds with you entire group, then you should probably search four new player.
20.000 damage / 6 seconds / 5 player = ~670 DPS.
Dunno about you, but I can deliver more than 700 dps.
No, wait.
4 warriors + 1 mesmer or 3 warriors + 1 guardian + 1 mesmer or 4 warriors + 1 guardian is the current meta for almost everything in PvE.
They excel in the things they do, but thats not tanking.
but in that case what is the point in being resistant in all the other PVE builds if we are just a profession like the others.
There is none. Go zerker or go home. Thats like 90% of the PvE content.
Ofc you can use some clerics, but you do that for the healingpower to support your team. Your team does not profit from yout vit or toughness.
Guardian is awesome because of reflection, AoE-Aegis/stability on demand, few might buffs and either decent damage on a zerker-spec or decent sustain on a AH-spec.
You can support in zerker as good as in sentinel.
Maybe you overlooked that in my previous post, bc I edit my posts a lot, but support is not the problem. Tank is.
(edited by Molch.2078)
Even if you jump in first, some mobs will aggro your team as soon as they are in range. Many mobs have skills that hit multiple times so blind is not that effective. Against a boss, your build is kinda useless, since they are imune against blint and use almost always aoe.
No offense, but I don’t see how this is supposed to work.
Edit: And even if blind is awesome: I don’t hate against blind, heal or support. But those things work fine in zerkers, too. I hate against sentinel and tank.
(edited by Molch.2078)
A tank-guardian for PvE? Finally. Awesome. How do you solve the issue, that mobs have random aggro mechanics and/or use AoE-effects that target everyone?
Tanks don’t work in this game. If you want to support, go clerics. Sentinel’s is probably the most useless gear in the game.
If you want some sustain, so you can jump in and feel like boss, use AH/EM with knights and berserkers gear. Something like this:
(edited by Molch.2078)
Shortbow has the same damage per hit mechanic as sword. Sword deals X damage/hit, SB deals Y damage per hit where Y is his base damage + bleeddamage x bleedduration.
THERE ARE NO REAL DOTS IN THIS GAME.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Burning <- this is a dot
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Glimmering_Mark <- thats a dot, too.
Once applied, you can now kite your enemy without attacking and you won’t lose any damage. Those dots don’t stack with themselfes and are therefore powerfull.
Bleeds in Gw2 do stack. To balance that out, one or two bleeds are incredible week – you have to apply them continuously. The moment you stop attacking to dodge/run away/die on a condition based class, you lose damage the same way a direct damage based class does. There is NO difference. Bleeds are not more sustained damage then direct hits.
And if hybrid engineer << berserker engineer, then I am truly sad, engi is the only class I don’t play and the last class, where I had my hopes high to find something, where zerker is not the way to go
Uh no kitten? We weren’t arguing the weapon, we were arguing the gear, sword, being a MELEE weapon will ALWAYS be better than Shorbow a RANGED weapon, end of story no questions asked.
Ehem:
Just to get this straight: A sb-rampager ranger has more dps than a zerker-sword ranger?
If we are going for sustained Damage per second? Yes, they do, if you’re going for “Who can blow up the fastest!” which is what the current “meta” is, aka Burst as fast as possible, then you’d want zerker.
I was talking about weapons, too.
And in this game, bleeds are just delayed damage and as sustained as any other autohit.
This build wants to do dps. A berserker/sword build would do more dps. Therefore Zerkersword > Shortbow.
What has this to do with big numbers?
Actually, Rampager would do more DPS, the zerker build just gets bigger numbers and bigger burst.
Just to get this straight: A sb-rampager ranger has more dps than a zerker-sword ranger?
This build wants to do dps. A berserker/sword build would do more dps. Therefore Zerkersword > Shortbow.
What has this to do with big numbers?
Replace gear with berserker.
Use melee weapon.Profit.
+1
Conditiondamage is not very good in PvE. Use a zerker build and a sword – your mind will be blown.
Please listen to this guy. If you want to run a build you like, then do whatever you want. But if you care about efficiency – thats the way to go.
