We also have very powerful heals, unlike warriors. Once our heal is down, we can use DS. Once DS is down, our heal is back up. After that, we have Lich form/Plague form. And once that is down, our heal AND DS are back up.

Sorry, bro, but your necro is probably in another game, not in GW2.

While in DS your health doesn’t go up. You don’t have access to your heals or life stealing.

And while in Lich form, you have the same HP pool, although bigger. If your life goes down while on Lich form, you are dead. And while on Lich form, you don’t have access to your heals, too!

It’s true that the LF replenish nicely (as a matter of fact, I goes head first on DS, then HP, then DS again), but believe me: your HP doesn’t go up while on DS or Lich.

Lifeforce builds up really quick, so it will be waaay better than life stealing. To it to be suitable, the class skill that convert LF to HP should have a big cooldown or something like that.

We are trying to change DS to fix what the update broke. Instead of it, revert it to how it was. :‘( I still don’t know which was the problem with the way DS worked.

well, maybe not you, but I still will be playing my necro. I enjoy him far more then any other class, it’s funny how people gravitate to a class just because they’re considered “Op” in one way or another and then get kitten and leave the class when it receives a few nerfs. I just adapt and if it’s that bad yes I move on but I still try my best to deal with the new changes instead of moving to the next FoTM class.

I will still play my necro, of course. I love it! But the nerf hurt the necro’s heart. Is not that the necro was op and now it isn’t: is just that it was fun to jump out of clifts, and to tank like a boss some bosses.

Besides, this is a nerf that wasn’t needed. It’s sad…

But what the heck? Let’s show them that we necros are still dangerous!

Great Axe….can’t believe they left this out. I mean, we have a Great Hammer?

The great axe missing is really a mystery. :-s

My list:

“Hand” melee weapons
- Unarmed combat (Brass knuckles, gloves)
- Claws

One hand melee weapons
- Chain whip / Morningstar / Flail
- Tonfa
- Sickle

Two hand melee weapons
- Greataxe, Battleaxe (2h-axe, a must!)
- Halberd / Polearm / Trident
- Double Bladed Sword (a la Darth Maul)

Ranged weapons
- Crossbow
- Chakram (a la Xena)
- Cannon (heavy gun)

Defensive / Other weapons
- Buckler (really small shield)
- Net (a la roman gladiators)

“Please, no” weapons
- Book (a book isn’t a weapon! you may say “chair” or “shoe” as well!)
- Scythe (nice touch for necros, but hardly usable by other classes. Besides, the staff already looks like a scythe on a necro’s hands when casting. A sickle seems to be a better idea).

Wishing for a New Legendary Staff

Honestly, I think The Crossing makes a better legendary than The Bifrost ;f

imho, The Crossing is the best looking staff in game. Since I can’t get my hands on one, I am currently using my second option, Final Rest (a scythe-looking cool staff).

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Final_Rest

And, since the legendary staff doesn’t have better stats than the top staves, I believe I will keep Final Rest.

The first option is the Ranger. They have good regen, use fairly good armor, and their pet can tank and heal them. Use bows to attack from afar.

Imho, Necro goes at second place. Good toughness, good vit, lich life, and a lot of minions to tank and give them more health and toughness.

Of course, it depends on your playstyle and the builds you select.

One of the issues that troubles me the most on WoW is, precisely, the race-based factions. If my buddies are Horde, and I want to play a Alliance-alligned race, I will be torn about what to choose.

I could accept non-race-based factions, as in “every character choose its side”, but I also think that with WvWvW we have something very close to that.

Dungeons should have 1 easy and 2 hard paths

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Morbridae.8607

Morbridae.8607

Good idea! Having a easy (shorter?), less rewarding path allow some players (the casual ones, or the ones without party) to know the dungeon experience.

And yes, it will allow to have a harder (or longer, as you wish), more rewarding path, to the hardcore gamers.

All players have different levels of skills, dedication, of time to play. Let have different game experiences to them, so that all enjoy the game.

Of course, people that play less or have less skills should not get the same reward as those more dedicated players. The easy paths should give less money, less tokens, less powerful items, or even armors of weapons with simpler looks or slightly lesser stats.

I suppose this topic had been created before, but couldn’t find the thread about it.

It would help us A LOT if we could know which dungeons paths we already did, and which need to be done. And the change is really simple, since the game already keep track of which ones you had done, to give you the achievement.

Is there any wish list to add this issue?

in Necromancer

Morbridae.8607

Minions do not dodge. Use them in situations where they do not have to. (…) I do wish Arenanet would allow builds to be saved as favorites along with equipment, though.

The main problem with the minions is their lack of fear for their security. They don’t dodge, so any attack catch them at full power. And a boss AoE just wipe them. So don’t use them in a AoE boss fight! (the Worm is an exception!). Besides, having all your skills used on minions is a shame.

For all other cases, Minions are ok. Not great, but they got their job done: they give you extra toughness, they damage your foe (some times!), they lich life for you, and take agro and attacks. They work fine in PvE, and I had used them in WvW without problems.

I tried a Conditionmancer to try to change my build, and mobs I killed before without looking at them, now kicked my kitten , so I got back to minions. I have to try the Powermancer yet.

So… use them wisely, at moments they would be useful, and change them when they wouldn’t.

in Necromancer

Posted by: Morbridae.8607

Morbridae.8607

The “easiest” profession to level up will change according to who is playing it, and which is their playstyle. So, this will be an never ending discussion.

Once said that, I had leveled a Necro (my main), a Ranger, a Thief, a Mesmer, and I am currently leveling a Warrior. The necro and the ranger had been the “easiest” as in “the ones that let me fight more high-leveled enemies, while dying the less”, but I don’t know if they are the fastests levelers out there.

So, for starters, don’t say “easiests” or “more op”, since theirs meanings changes with every player. Say fastests, more survivalist, etc.

WvW Abilities: I am confused!

in WvW

Morbridae.8607

To try to clarify some issues:

  • Guards: They are the NPCs of the player’s races that are always on the same server side. The ones inside the castles, or defending the places, for example, are guards.
  • Mercenaries: They are the “mobs” NPCs that switch alliances from one server to another depending on the players actions. Dredge, hylek, ogres, and the like, are mercenaries.

(No skill gives you bonuses against PCs, except if you are using a ballista, cannon, etc)

  • Supply capacity: It only let you carry more supplies. Don’t create supplies nor gives bonuses to anything else: you just are capable of carrying more supplies at once.

Hope this help.

Stop forcing us to play without our friends.

in Living World

Posted by: Morbridae.8607

Morbridae.8607

MMOs are meant to be played with friends, hence massively multiplayer

As a matter of fact, that isn’t true. You can play with your friends in any lan-based game or online game, not just MMOs.

MMOs are, as you say, “massive”. It means that you will be playing in a world full of people: friends, foes, and totally strangers. And that’s exactly what you are getting here.

Don’t get me wrong: I also enjoy playing with my friends, and rarelly party with strangers, basically because my friends are normally online at the same time I do. But playing with them isn’t really necesary in ALL the play modes.

I can do dungeons with them, go WvW with them, do personal story with them, roam the PvE with them, do JPs with them, and so on. And normally, yes, do living story with them.

That some parts of some events can’t be done in party isn’t really a concern. As someone said before, for the sake of the history, it is ok that only one hero should walk around acting as a detective.

Playing alone some times gives us the chance to fully know our character, and to know his limitations without a party backing him up. And really, guys, how much is the must-solo content in the game? 1%? 5% tops? Get over it.

C’mon, guys. We are playing a fantasy game here, full of magic and power, aren’t we?

So I made a Charr and then want to change to a Norn? Well, let’s pay some gems, and then do a simple quest or something like that, in which my char changes its race, but its “memories” (the low level quests) are still there. “Yes, I am a Norn, but it wasn’t always like this. A easy change may be ordering them by level, so that the highest and “newest” mats appear always at the start of the list, or that the mats that we still can’t use (the “red” ones) appear always at the bottom of the list.

Another option should be to order them alphabetically. Ii isn’t really meaningful, but at least they will be in a consistent order.

But if you want to play in group, then do dungeons, fractals, group events, fight champions, and so on… You can do it with a group of friends as a guild, or with a group of unknown people.

Is perfectly ok that you can’t beat some of the worst enemies in Tyria all by yourself. afaik, the game offers you a lot of possibilities, and you only need to select those that best suits you and your play style.

GW2’s Necromancer is very different to necros from other games, but still is a good class, fun and easy to play with.

1) I had played all classes in GW2, and Necro is in my top three. I do mostly PvE, and you can solo easily, since you have good HP management, and a lot of minions to help you. At PvP, the worse thing that you can say about them is that they aren’t the top damage dealers: instead, they work from the shadows, supporting friends and hindering foes.

2) Minions and power/thoughness, in that order. The minions help a lot, tanking for you and keeping you alive.

3) The minions are waaay useful. In fact, 3 out of 5 of my skills (6, 7 and are minions (Shadow, Blood and Bone). They hit pretty fine, and are very good tanks, taking agro from you. The only problem is that you can’t really comand them: they will attack what you attack, as good as they can.
