Hello, fellas! Excuse me if this isn’t the right forum to write this, but I didn’t find another place to do it.

Since something like a month ago, I had been receiving an e-mail like the one that I attach next, supposedly sent by ANet.

Please, double check every ANet e-mail (or any e-mail, really), regardless of how much official-looking it is. Check the real url on the link, or better yet, don’t click on it, and go directly to ANet page.

Hoping to help, see ya on Tyria.

It isn’t a bad idea, as long as your son enjoys it (and don’t die a lot!). Of course that it looks weird, but don’t hesitate and test it.

Only thing I should change, in lieu with your idea, is DM11 to DM13.

I assume that you know the traditional MM-build, but just in case… For my son, I set up a minion-build on his necro too, but I set it up as a traditional minion mancer. Something like this one, but pve-based:

Morbridae.8607

Hi there!

I just made a norn thief after Riddik (I know is misspelled) from the Pitch Black movies. I want him to look as similar to that character as possible, but I believe that he can still be improved.

The equipment I am currently using is:

  • Head: Eagle-Eye Goggles [&AgGRGQAA]
  • Shoulder: Studded Shoulders [&AgG7GAAA]
  • Chest: Heart of Koda [&AgHPRgAA]
  • Hand: Stalwart Gloves [&AgEDFgAA]
  • Leg: Flame Legion Leggins [&AgG7QwAA]
  • Foot: Studded Boots [&AgHNFQAA]

Please, any help on what can I change to look more like Riddik?

I choose daggers and pistols as his weapons, and will appreciate help about their skins too:

  • Dagger: Glimmerfang [&AgHrtwAA]
  • Pistol: none in particular, so far

thx in advance for any help or feedback!!!

I believe few people is using conditions anymore on PvE. A power-based build is better to clean dungeons faster.

So, for a power-based build, current meta is zerker (Pow, Pre, Fer). Some people use soldier (Pow, Vit, Tou), or some combination of both, to gain some survivability.

Anyway, wether you choose conditions or power, you can buy top armor and weapons on different places: a) TP, (using gold) b) Dungeon sellers (using dungeon’s tokens), c) WvW sellers (using WvW tokens), d) Orr temple karma sellers (using karma). You don’t need to buy all your equipment on the same place.

The best option to buy your trinkets is the Laurel vendor, using 30-35 laurels each.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Morbridae.8607

But my question is… why was that window added? (…) What’s the point in telling a player they gained +80 power when they didn’t actually gain +80 power…?

Since the revamp to the trait system, a lot of people had complain that now they “don’t feel like leveling” when gaining a level without a trait. I suppose that ANet added that window so that, when leveling up, you can “feel” like you win something.

Levelling build?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Morbridae.8607

Morbridae.8607

Hi! I will give you not exactly a “leveling guide”, but a “leveling build”. I suggest you to go for minions, since they can help you killing mobs faster and “tanking” for you, at least on PvE open world.

The build should be something like http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQNAoYWjM00VbbNO1webiohSyA4Am+C+gQAyecAA-TJRBwAD3focZAQnCAAPBAA

I normally change the Blood Fiend for Connsume Conditions (best heal, period) and while I am open maps, I switch any minion for Signet of the Locust, to get more running speed (unless I get BM10).

tl;dr

Go for minions as soon as you can.

As a matter of fact, necros are one of the hardest professions to kill on pve, if traited ok (some may say that ANY profession is hard to be killed on pve, but imho, necro is hardest).

imho, the best way to solo pve and don’t get killed is running a minion master buld (i.e. going with minions). They will attack (sometimes) and “tank” for you, and you will get out of every fight pretty untouched. One time, I even leave the necro alone, to get a snack, and when I returned he had gain a level, thx to the minions.

This is the build I normally use.

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQNAoYWjM00VbbNO1webiohSyA4Am+C+gQAyecAA-TJRBwAD3focZAQnCAAPBAA

Even then, don’t be afraid to test new weapons, skills, and trais, because that is the way you will learn about the class. And remember that when you max out your level, or when you start going to dungeons and fractals, you should think about changing your build. Minions are not so good agains aoe attacks of dungeon’s bosses.

We are Necromancers

in Necromancer

Posted by: Morbridae.8607

Morbridae.8607

In almost every MMORPG I had played, I normally go for the dark-arts-wielder-type character. And finding one in this game who is not limited to staff and skirts (sorry… robes!) was like getting a 2nd Christmas on July.

I had leveled 10 characters to lvl 80, and 3 of those are Necromancers. I had tested all the necro-builds I had cross my path with, and finally settled to one that suits my playstyle very nicely. Is a shame that a vampiric build isn’t viable.

I love the idea of WvW, but I normally don’t go there, because its nature is that the bigger zerg wins. So, I am normally at PvE (something like 80% of my online time) and PvP (the remaining 20%), where one hero can make the difference.

On PvE I love to go to dungeons and fractals with my guildies. To see how they look in awe as I enter the battlefield, and then come out almost unharmed; to see them dead and I finishing the boss (I swear that I didn’t kill them! but they made some lovely minions!); those are the great moments of life.

On PvP, I love when someone start crying out loud that our party is going to lose because it has one necro. Finishing first or second on the point table is reaaaaaally nice after that. Ah! And my more memorable battle was one where, by dumb luck, our party were 4 necros and 1 guardian. To see the our minions on stampede against our enemies was just beautiful.

Suggestion - Mobile Gaming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Morbridae.8607

Morbridae.8607

No, I’m positive that the players who want/need mobile apps to do minor functions are a minority.

Can I ask how are you so positive about that?

If you checked what percentage of the player base bothers using mobile authentication I think you’d end up with a similar indication of how many people would actually be willing to/would want a mobile application to do things.

False. I, for example, don’t use mobile authentication, but will love a mobile app to do things. I don’t believe I am the only one thinking that the mobile is cool to use when you are away from the pc.

Also, most players wouldn’t be willing to pay for an app. Paid apps don’t do so well and the logic for most GW2 players would be ’I’ve already paid for the game, why should I pay for an app that simply lets me do exactly what I can do by logging in’.

I don’t know if most players would pay for it or not… neither you do. Again, I would pay for it, because it will let me do things when I can’t log in (at work, at lunch, when in the subway…).

New necro need help

in Necromancer

Posted by: Morbridae.8607

Morbridae.8607

Hi, and welcome.

The first thing to decide is if you want to play as a powermancer (kills using direct hits) or a conditionmancer (kills using conditions to DoT). There are more builds, of course (minionmancer, using minions; bunkermancer, a powermancer that does less damage but is more resilient; terrormancer, a condimancer with an specialization on fear; and even an hybrid between pow- and conditions!), but you should start using one of the basic ones, and then adapt it to your playstyle.

Powermancers use daggers and axes as main weapons, and Condimancers use scepters as main. Some say that power is better to PvE, and condis are better to PvP, but that really is a matter of preferences. And talking about that, what will you do the most? PvE? sPvP? WvW?

Since you are using mostly scepter, it seems that you should try a condition build. Google for one, or search the forums to look for the current condition meta. The “classic” build is something like 6/4/0/0/4 terror + dhuumfire, that I believe will still work well. Probably you will use a set of rabid or dire or both.

Good luck!

  • Dungeons that scale with the heroes inside, so that we can go 10 heroes together to do a extra difficult dungeon, but also go only 3, or even only 1 hero by himself. Add here multi-part dungeons.
  • Dungeons, Fractals, and content in general that need (or at least, that prefer) different classes or different skills to be finished. Let’s used other builds besides zerker.
  • New races & classes. Admit it: everybody loves new races and classes.
  • More epic storyline. I want another PS/LS quest line, one in which the character can feel like a hero. After a year or so without PS, and with LS where our heroism was secondary to that of the npcs, we need a chance to feel like the stars again.
  • PvP: 1v1, 2v2, GvG, maps with missions (ctf, for example).
  • Talking about guilds, lets ask for the guild halls, or for a hero’s house. And let us create guild alliances.
  • More infinite transformation potions. My child love them! XD
  • More global events, but poor-machines-friendly. Something like the Marionette, or the Pavillion, where I don’t need to be in the same exact spot that 200 more heroes.

Not full Holy Trinity, but vary proffs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Morbridae.8607

Morbridae.8607

The problem mainly is the lack of real defined roles.

I think the main problem is that content doesn’t require people to do anything other than damage.

(…)

What content needs to do is replace the class roles by adding roles unique to that encounter. With an open system like GW2, the content needs to get people to think “What can I bring to this fight that will get us past it?”. Content designed as such adds much more depth than having defined, required roles.

Imagine the Lover’s basic mechanic of needing to keep them away from each other (forget the actual implementation).

+1000. You just nailed it.

You can need to just keep alive a npc against invulnerable enemies, thus needing control and healing. You can need to go unnoticed into an enemy base, thus needing stealth-based classes. You can need to take down some mobs only with conditions. You can need to… anything that doesn’t means just flat dps.

Technnical issues apart, another thing to take on account is the time frame. America and Europe have different time frames, and is difficult to the default player from one side to play with the default player from the other. I had a guildie from Spain that, literally, allways went to bed 30 minutes after we entered to the game, and that only because he waited for us.

Splitting the servers keep the population on -roughly- the same time frame, so that you have more chances to find your guildies (and your server) awake when you get ingame.
