Falathar : Yeah, I knew about that, but was hoping there was maybe a skin, costume, outfit whatever that could be applied to anyone… because as you pointed out, aristocrat is closest and yet not what I’m looking for
I have been wanting to equip some kind of look involving a broad rimmed hat and a great coat/leather duster kind of appearance for one of my light armor characters.
Problem is, I think those are only available for medium armor characters. I’m hoping I’m wrong though… does anyone know of a look for light armor that might match that somehow?
Could definitely happen that way. Do you think that’s more of a problem stemming from players not being able to easily switch builds on a per-map basis? It goes both ways: If someone is built for one map, there is no guarantee they get the map. They may do poorly on a map they didn’t vote for, or need to switch builds to adapt.
You can think about whether a certain implementation of a map vote feature would be a good one if you imagine how it works given any subset of maps. What if we had 2 maps, 20 maps, or 20 game modes?
I would prefer a map vote feature to be an improvement over the total RNG we have now rather than a solution to an atypical conquest map.
You know, I have always thought that being able to save and load multiple builds, including gear, traits, runes, etc, instantly would be of great benefit.
“Oh, skyhammer, ok, click, build loaded.”
That way it would allow for builds for each map to be ready
What if people don’t care about having longer Q times? Those who like all maps can just select them all and have a normal Q time?
I would wait 10+ min to not get skyhammer/ temple / khylo
That’s like half the maps. :P
I meant uneven as in the number of matches with less than 10 players.
You mention people picking maps they are built for, do you consider that a bad thing? Imagine a scenario where we have templates. Everyone would always switch to the most effective build for a given map to ensure a win. That’s what people like to do, win
I dont mind losing if its a good, tight fight. I hate getting facerolled. Or you know that time I, the mesmer with really low stability, got played like a ping pong ball by a fear necro, hambow, and decap engineer. Yeah… fun times…..
LOL!
Honestly if you want to beat a warrior the easier but boring way go PU condition.
WHY!! Why are you doing this! The plague must not spread!
agreed. PU is a powerful crutch, but by no means do you NEED it to survive roaming. get creative with portals, you’ve got tons of stealth with torch, decoy, veil, and mass invis,
mesmer has enough escape that traiting into PU is a waste unless you’ve got to sneak into SMC or a keep or some kitten. You would be better off putting those traits into another tree.
Actually, when roaming, I use PU, but not conditions and on death. I bump up phantasms with phantasmal fury, sharper images, etc.
Cant get ALL the phantasm buffs, but I get some, and enough that I spin out phantasms in between stealths.
Not precisely to fight anyone else, but to fight thieves. I stealth when they do, heh, and let my phantasms, who auto target him when he decloaks, and continue to hammer on him.
Its a lot of fun
If you are going full phantasm killer mode, it seems that 2/3/0/5/4 is better, although I only casually do wvw (and when roaming, PU reall is better); the reason being, you get +30% damage on your phantasms, fury, bleeding on crit, and faster attack rate on your phantasms.
Add in the healing signet, you pop immediately after your first two phantasms to get a third, then use something like veil, mass invis, etc, to get him off your butt while your 3 phantasms hammer him.
Or Moa to cripple his responses for 10 seconds.
Anyway, I’m not saying this is the build you should run in wvw; I’m saying this is the build that absolutely maximizes your phantasms damage, along with zerker gear.
If you are roaming though, I tend to run a modified PU build instead. And in actuality, due to all the aoes when zerg meets zerg, on-death effects for your clones/etc might be worthy with condi enhancers instead.
Hey I know, instead of people falling to their death in skyhammer, have them insta-respawn, or maybe have them land on another landing they have to work back up from. It would make the irritation of falling far less irritating. And it would make the launchknockbackpull builds consider between resetting them at the wp for a short delay while they run back, and get no points for it, or try and kill them for a longer respawn and the points.
I guess what I mean is, actually, I LOVE skyhammer in that it’s a very interesting layout and unique design – but it favors some to a very high degree over others, and that’s not as fun.
As a mesmer, I find I need to take GS and offhand focus to be competitive in skyhammer. I found a build I enjoy using those weapons anyway on the other maps too, so it’s ok, but it is kinda irritating.
Also, I’m sure someone has said it already but the best way to make sure more people have matches with the filter system is to have the number of “omit selections” to only 1 selection.
Ideally, most people would just hate one map (cough skyhammer). So just have only 1 map you can choose to omit, then at least you’ll have at least 5 maps to match for each player. More intersections = more matches.
I believe WoW has this feature for Battlegrounds, where you can pick two that you don’t want to play.
This would definitely work… it’s just a question of whether or not Arenanet has the developers left to implement even such a miserably small change like this into the game.
That’s rather silly to say. You happen to notice the living world/living story stuff? They are still implementing them, hence, they have developers. Perhaps you noticed the april 15th changes too.
It’s a matter of priorities.
Summary so far:
- Pre-match filters will increase queue times.
- Voting per-match does not increase queue time.
- Add some amount of randomness.
- Avoid chances of encountering non-stop cheese builds.
I think the problem is that some maps grant definite benefits for some classes/builds over others.
Honestly, for that matter, point captures favor some over others anyway. Try playing, for example, a mesmer, or a thief, trying to cap a point against a hambow, engineer, or fear spamming necro? It’s kitten ed hard, and the non-crowd control player with little stability available has a MUCH harder time than those that happen to have both spammable crowd control AND better access to stability.
I think, honestly, that the point capture should be revised. For example… make the capture points FAR larger than they are, or just get rid of them for some other objectives instead. Kill targets, destroy doors, find the “widget” that’s randomly placed somewhere in the midregion.
As it stands, point capture favors some builds over others, and thus favors some classes over others. Some maps mitigate that to a degree, while others exaggerate it.
huh, doesnt show the tooltip. well, suffice it to say, i have 9 reindeer tonics…
more picture to prove how necessary it is:
Behold, my candy cane hammer, and my gift dolyak…
and my reindeer tonics. My original 8 friends, plus the one with the red nose, was eaten by jormag, but perhaps with some brave volunteers christmas can be saved!
So start petitioning! jormag must be driven away from the north, and christmas must be saved!
In style. I need my hat.
:)
The Santa Hat from first christmas did not return second christmas.
I must have one. I cannot buy one. And as you will see, it is quite important. Name is Nicholas Kringle.
I realize it isnt christmas yet, but I’m starting a petition now, so the devs can be convinced by christmas time!
awesome, thanks for the info!
I live in texas anyway
Ok so it only asks for the two step authentication if it sees a new ip then?
oh yeah, it has a gw2- in front of my email addressin google authenticator
I’ve now had four friend get hacked. Paranoid, I signed up for the two step verification, went to my account and activated it, etc etc.
I thought every time I logged in it would ask for my authentication #, but it isnt.; Strange thing is, I saw it mention an email address that I wasn’t using in the authenticator after scanning the qcode.
I’m confused.
And I need to make sure that its working properly.
When classes get elites that give several bonuses, including 20 seconds of stability, I have no qualms whatsoever with moa morph.
I thought it would stack, but better safe than sorry, etc.
I’m just curious, as necromancers can get life siphon effects from multiple sources, do they stack?
For instance, if I have the 3 pt blood trait, which has life siphon acting every single attack, and Vampiric Precision, which life siphons whenever you critically hit, those WOULD stack, right? Otherwise if you took 3+ pts in blood, vampiric precision, for instance, would be worthless.
We know about this issue. Unfortunately it is going to take some time to fix it.
I guess that means we will have to wait 6 months for this crucial fix and will be part of the next feature patch
It isn’t CRUCIAL, its kitten easy to turn off your wardrobe. Yes, that means you don’t get to look uber cool… but you didn’t before this addition anyway. turn it off, use your normal armor, and turn it on when not doing wvw/pvp stuff.
Maybe not your preference, but it does work.
My apologies for not being clear; I was getting more information regarding an earlier post in this thread and some other questions regarding the rewards.
The problems we are discussing are:
1. It is difficult to do well with a zerg – by intention, but with the other design choices, this makes it hard to form effective nonzerg teams. See below
2. However, because of megaserver, which was great for other reasons, isn’t working out here, as no one knows anyone else, we can’t organize as well, therefore, zerging happens. I suppose if a guild like TTS might be able to form a group, but I’ve been hearing since the megaserver, its been hard for guilds to get into a server together to do, say, tequatl or the three headed wurm. If that’s true, this would translate to problems here too.
3. The bosses seem to uberscale real fast, making it very hard to kill them fast enough to earn the silver/gold chests. Don’t get me wrong, I think the new mechanics are fun, but they become drastically hard to kill. Furthermore, as bosses die, more zerglike groups are going to form, as no one wants to miss out on the remaining combats, thus the remaining groups get larger and larger…
4. We have a rather hard time limit.
5. We get crap loot unless we do well… see #1 , #2, and #3
6. We have to PAY for the privelege of doing poorly (paying to do the escort gift dolyaks during the winter was kinda cute, but with the frustrations of above, its quickly lost its charm)
If they made it easier to organize ourselves, OR if they made the bosses not so incredibly tough as they scale (particularly Boom boom and her healing turret, she seems by far the worst offender here), it turns from being fun into being an exercise in frustration.
Really, I have to ask, why is paying for this even necessary? I get the story idea, but when we are paying for the privilege of getting frustrated, I see this part of the LS quickly thinning out as people are getting their achievements, as its not a lot of fun and not rewarding either.
Let me rephase: I actually think the new boss mechanics ARE fun… except that we also want to get the silver/gold chests, and with the aforementioned difficulties, that’s hard to do.
Yep, dome has no roof now only a low fence, so camera is no issue at all. Plus new AoE markers on ground makes it very easy to see all her Shadowfall skills.
Liadri should be easy for many this time around; there goes the exclusivity of my mini… :/THe one thing is the glass dome messing with your camera and hard to see AOE circles on the floor, that’s not the mechanics of the fight. that was anet putting in ways to kitten with you to make the fight seem hard without it actually being hard. Why make the boss harder when you can just make the player have to work harder.
The fact that removing those problems makes the boss much easier is proof of what I said last year. Liadri herself wasnt hard, it was just the camera angle.
Yeah, they put in the camera interference and harder to see aoes in purpose. rolls eyes
And there are other npcs talking about being nervous, having attracted too much attention this time, etc etc. Plus, the new “guild” we belong to with Marjory, Braham, etc, talking about investigating that roar…
Yes, I think the hints are already starting. And if we are going after a new elder dragon, I’ll be very pleased… and if not, very irritated.
Farm would not harm the economy, only pleasure players
Meanwhile, the gold ’n gem exchange rate has gone up by 35% over the past six months. Where in ‘pleasuring players’ does requiring hardcore farming or ponying up cash for gold fit in?
i don’t want gem, i want my 4th legendary
You’re fourth? You, my friend, suck.
LOL kidding….
kinda….
:)
I’m not sure. I get the impression they are trying to do with this what they do with the three headed wurm.
But the time limit is too restrictive, the scaling is too expansive, and the fact you have to pay for it is irritating, at the very least.
They need to either give more time, reduce the scaling, or a little of both. Or make the kitten thing free rather than charging.
Some of the battles I find interesting: the charr and the centaur both interest me some. I do find it exciting having to keep watch for the trampling centaurs. Wiggins and the ogre I also like. The destroyer is kinda dull, but not a big deal.
But boom boom whatever her name is, who just keeps healing ad infinitum… lord, she is so irritating. that healing turret makes her take forever to kill.
I like the fights to a certain degree, but I have to agree on one thing: paying to get to do this is ridiculous! I mean, seriously!
I like the fights, personally, but I agree on the loot, that much effort just to get a bronze chest with crap in it isn’t cool.
Now I haven’t seen a silver or gold chest, maybe they are more worthwhile, but so far, not impressed lootwise.
I’m bored with it for another reason, but that’s the repetitiveness of it all.
I’m enjoying the Bazaar much more, frankly.
ok thats awesome lol
Already created a thread about this last nitght: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Overwhelmed-by-gold-sellers
I hadnt even heard of that. Why would that exist?
pve completely ruined? Snort. That’s just plain silly.
I’m playing this game all the time and having fun, and I make money just fine.
in LA?
the moment they removed the GW1 LA fountain is the moment they removed the last part of GW1, GW2 is now officially unrelated to GW1.So… the Norn, Asura, Humans, Charr, every single location in the game, even some of the enemies, that are the exact same as they were in GW1, dont relate the two games?
People forget that there’s been something like 2-3 centuries that pass between the timepoints the games take place in. The GW2 LA was already nearly unrelated to the GW1 LA when it was drowned by the raising of Orr.
Also, HoM. Just sayin.
firstly, EotN was added in response of GW2, no GW2 and you would’ve never seen the 3 other races.
also, what places?
there is not even a hint of ascalon, droknar, hedge of denravi, temple of the ages (and no, the swamp isn’t ToA, the statues are not even the same and they are not on the same location) so unless you have even a shred of evidence they are still there, i take it with a grain of salt.oh and the 250 years is a poor excuse, there are buildings of about 5000 years ago that still stand today IRL yet in GW2 nothing is left, a game only 250 years later.
And yet, the world of today is utterly different than the world of 250 or 5000 years ago. Bring forward a native of that far past to today, and they would not recognize the world we live in, familiar buildings standing or not.
And those buildings you mention weren’t ravaged by sinkings of entire kingdoms, ravages of dragons, etc. Their world is FAR more violent than ours is, excepting nuclear weapons and the like.
in LA?
the moment they removed the GW1 LA fountain is the moment they removed the last part of GW1, GW2 is now officially unrelated to GW1.
Other than, you know, charr, asura, mesmers, eles, divinity’s reach, ascalon, etc etc.
That statement and others like it is REALLY reaching there.
When will the Blade Shard merchant appear?

how about also adding a possibility to trade belongings and heirlooms? i failed to use mine in time.
I hate to say it but that is on you alone for not using the heirlooms and belonging. It was posted several times that the vendors would be removed with this patch.
Posted where? On the forums? Most of the player base does not read those, so most players did not have any notice about it. This information was not in-game or in the previous patch notes. There is absolutely no harm in keeping the belongings and heirlooms vendors around for a few extra days.
While I agree that not many people post it on the forums, it was also posted as a link in the game client to follow and read before entering the game.
posting to the forums alone IS a poor means of getting info to players, as the ANET team themselves have admitted not many people come here.
However, when the patch/load client has a post on there as well, and players either ignore it or set it to auto play and thus bypass notices and such, really, that IS their own fault then. Critical information is delivered by that method, and players should make it a point of taking heed, or accept the consequences.
I’d really like to see more of what GW1 did for april fools. SAB was cute and all, but not really an april fools joke in the fashion GW1 did it.
Fun video, and I do this all the time in EotM.
Stop acting like you people do stuff based on player feedback, its BULL.If it is so,we would have proper game modes for pvp by now, balanced pvp and more maps instead of stuff being stripped from pvp.
Yes! Genie, make it so!
In all seriousness… We DO listen to you guys. We can’t snap our fingers and have it all done. That’s just not how game development works, unfortunately.
These things take time. We need to flesh out ideas, brainstorm, iterate, code, script, document, etc. Not all in the order, but you get the idea. There is a process. One that takes time.
We’re not like the sims, where you can just fast forward to the results. We have put a lot of features in this game as a direct result from player feedback.
People without experience in software development are quick to point out the flaws in everything a dev team does. Sadly, sometimes even people WITH that experience will do the same thing.
Hm. Too bad the individual in question wouldn’t speak to me after the first question or two. She seemed to act like it was common to her, but I dunno. Too bad. It was a very cool effect
Yeah but look at her outfit, this Mesmer looks terrible, 2/10. Clearly having no sense of style what’so ever, they’re also incapable of producing any kind of purple haze effects.
LOL!
Hm. Too bad the individual in question wouldn’t speak to me after the first question or two. She seemed to act like it was common to her, but I dunno. Too bad. It was a very cool effect
So I ran into a mesmer that had a constant, nonstop purplish fluctuating glow around her. It was like the effect of an illusion being shattered, sort of, but nonstop.
I didn’t see her holding anomaly, so I asked her what was causing it. she said “power return, as long as I don’t use all the charges,” which of course was from mantra of recovery. I have used that before and never saw the effect, but I tried it out anyway, and of course, it didn’t happen.
She refused to answer any more questions, so I thought I’d post it to you guys, along with a screenshot. What the heck causes this?
Ok so her journal seemed to indicate that she wanted to destroy the “voice” that taunted her… but that “tyria’s master”crack seemed to indicate she was working for the voice… or maybe some of both.
So perhaps it started as a quest to defeat the dragon, but she was being twisted around until, in the end, she WAS serving him, totally subsumed in the end.
But she also left a note, on the back of the blade backpack plan, that said “Caithe, you will see, Tyria needs me,” or something like that.
So, I’m confused. Or maybe she was confused. Split personality, played like a puppet, or something else? Or maybe ANet’s trying to pull a fast one and make us realize that we stopped Scarlet from, in her lunacy, saving us from the Elder dragons, or something like that.
A simple right click “open all bags?” style option should make this much easier.
It does create an issue, though, if your inventory isn’t large enough to handle everything.
Look, I just want to add that I personally don’t see much evidence that the OP is homophobic. Or that the posters here defending him are homophobic. I think that’s a pretty strong word and we shouldn’t just casually toss it around.
What I do think is that you are privileged. As am I – a white, college-educated, straight male.
What do I mean by privileged? Specifically, in this case: a relationship which mirrors the kind that I would have in real-life can be represented in game without being seen as social activism or social commentary.
When we make a big deal over this sort of thing, we’re sending small, (I assume) painful messages to people who are already marginalized that the behavior or choices they find most natural are somehow unnatural, strange, unwanted, or wrong.
For my LGBT friends who constantly have to deal with this nonsense: don’t let the kittens grind you down. <3
Well, thanks for that. Let me ask you a question though: in a society where hetero relationships define the vast majority, isn’t it ok to be ok with ONE of these, but protest it when it’s two in a row?
I mean, as I said, the first one didnt bother me. the second did. So how would you define that?
You keep returning to Caithe and Faolin, and you being ok with them.
But
They are not a romance, their relationship is over before the game even starts and they are both Sylvari- so it hardly matters.
They are also not prominent.Marjory and Kasmeer are human, and pretty and their relationship is part of the story- because you are their friend you spend time with them.
So basically you are saying you are not ok with one same sex relationship in game
No I’m not. Apparently you are incapable of reading.
But when they have a second romantic relationship taking center stage centered around two females AGAIN, thats what made me begin to wonder what was going on.
It wasnt the fact they exist; its the fact that two in a row took more major screen time back to back.
There are a variety of relationships in the Personal Story and in the Living World. If we just look at Living World, we have:
Hetero Romantic: Peneloopee/Bloomanoo, Faren/prettymucheverybody, Braham/Ottilia
kitten Romantic: KasJory
Hetero Non-Romantic: Rox/Braham, (hinted at) Braham/Taimi, Kiel/Magnus, Kasmeer/Faren
kitten Non-Romantic: KasJory before it moved to the other column, X-o-Tron/Marcello, Thorn/EdrickThere are many relationships and dynamics, it’s just that one of those pairs kissed in a cut scene.
The romantic relationships that took center stage, however, have been pretty much one type.
I totally forgot that Rox had a romantic thing with a ‘bandmate. So that’s another one.
Anyway, we’re obviously never going to agree on this, but I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the in-game representation of an often-marginalized segment of society. Hopefully ArenaNet will include more heterosexual relationships in the game, center stage, as you say, so that you don’t feel so uncomfortable.
sigh
Again, I wasn’t uncomfortable. I have said time and again that caithe/faolin was just fine. I was expressing my suspicion of a possible agenda here.
I would have liked to see more male homosexual relationships but my gut feeling is gw2 player are just not going to take a male relationship as well as they will take a female one. It’s horrible but true
I wish it was different.
There is a male Sylvari couple early in one of that race’s personal stories. I’ve never seen any objection about it.
Also, Rytlock and Logan are clearly the #1 couple in the game.
This is an old reply but I saw nobody reply to you. Actually there was a loooooot of qq threads (that literally was it, people complaining for no actual reason) about it while in beta and launch. People just got over it with time because they are further in the game’s story. The people that cared back then have either left or passed the phase in the story so are not “being shoved down their throats” the relationship between these two characters.
I am honestly afraid Anet could not have a canon male gay couple in the main cast without horrible homophobic backlash as we have already seen it happen. And the amount of complaints about Kasjory is even more telling that a loud minority of players can’t accept homosexual relationships as normal and demand “equality” (seriously? are you kidding me????). You [general you] are simply ignoring all of the heterosexual relationships because it is default in our society. Of course a queer relationship will stick out like a sore thumb to you because of the status of our media – you’re not used to it.
Empty complaints. What if the sole cast of characters were aaaaaaaaalllll gay and women???? Who cares. It’s not like the opposite (all male and hetero) is not something that happens in other games. The “acceptable” ratio you are wanting is actually already equitable and you are making a big deal out of n-o-t-h-i-n-g.
I wouldnt have a problem with a male-male romantic plot either… as long as they start giving more screen time to more standard relationships too, OR if they would start exploring more unusual relationships like interracial.
Actually, interspecies would be more accurate I suppose.
Heh. I want to see an Asura who invents a “love golem.” LOL

ok that would be cool lol
