Lockdown Mesmer can be tricky to learn, but certainly works well in PvP.
Check this thread for details.
I had a guy once screaming at me for keeping him stunned for like 11second. accused me of hacking. Had to stop and explain to him how confounding suggestion and sigil of paralyzation worked. Granted, I got lucky in every daze proccing to stun, but still I lolzed hehe
ah, well, at least someone knew something about it. thanks for the info!
I posted about this in the bugs forum and got no responses, so thought i’d try here.
So i’m running with a mantra build taking all the mantra increasing traits I can. Including Harmonious Mantra, which increases your mantra charges by one.
But what I’ve noticed is that sometimes, AFTER I’ve already charged the mantras for the first time in a map, AFTER it’s showing that I have three charges, at some point they suddely drop to two charges instead.
I haven’t been able to figure out if it has a trigger or if it just happens regardless. I just wondered if anyone else had noticed this, and if so, do you know what’s triggering the drop to two charges?
So no one has noticed? Its happening to me a lot
So I am running a mantra build on my mesmer with the harmonious mantra to get three charges.
I go into a new zone, charge them up… and sometimes they are resetting to two charges. they only do it once, if I recharge them, or switch skills then switch back and charge, they are fine.
I haven’t been able to determine yet what or when it occurs or triggers it. Anyone else notice this?
I used in game report, but decided to post it here too. Scholar went on his walk, we destroyed the totem… then he uses his dialogue about reporting this after a fine ale, that dialogue he usually uses after you defeat the shaman, and walks off.
in other words, the shaman and other events that occur after destroying the totem never started, and the scholar went immediately to his victory dialogue.
For the time being morfedel we will just agree to disagree. Fair enough?
EZD . I’m glad you get what I was driving at .
Fair enough
See, that’s all really funny, because I’m having a great time playing, and I’ve been playing since beta.
I must be having badwrongfun somehow.
I`m just gonna leave this here as a reminder:
Oh wow look,a little more than 1.5K votes, less than 10% happy. So let me ask you this Vayne, as an editor, did you ever have overwhelming feedback point to something being an absolutely horrible change/feature/ect? If so, what did you do about it? Did you simply ignore everything that the feedback was pointing to as being horrible? Did you ignore any and all suggested fixes, did you attempt to figure out what specific parts were so hated, and why? Or did you simply do nothing?
I lot of people havent seen that. Until this moment, I hadn’t. Furthermore, you seem to be missing the point, they didn’t make the new leveling system for people who already knew the game, they made it for newcomers.
They should have had a way for veterans to skip the new leveling system at least in part, but aside from that, you weren’t really the target audience for it.
Maybe talk to a few newcomers who have legitimately never seen GW2 before, and see what THEY think.
After thinking about it, I decided to rescind some of my earlier comments. Not all, some. The collections for the exotics are going to be kitten ed hard to do, especially with prices jacked up.
Other than that, though, I think the release was fine.
You know what’s funny? I’ve had over half those exotic items at one point or another, sold most of them. Or salvaged them if they werent selling for more. Imagine how I feel now lol
IMHO current problems:
1) Very unrewarding for complete collections (most of them).
2) Announces/preview of collections – prices skyrocked before the patch.
3) Very low drop rate of exotic items from bosses chests. I play very often, but i saw these items maybe 1 time or never.
So? Not all content is intended to be completed quickly and easily.
I find it funny. If content is fast to do, we get complaints that its too fast. If it takes awhile to do, or is expensive to do it fast, we get complaints that they cant do it both quickly and easily.
Repeat the following mantra: Not all content is intended to be completed quickly, cheaply, and easily.
It is not about “quickly and easily”.
I have ~1300g and 2 legendaries at this moment. I don’t want to buy these items. I will repeat my points + explains.
1) Very unrewarding for complete collections (most of them). – no point to do them. Check jormag collection rewards for example – no sense. Dwayna collection has unique skin at least (i don’t like it but…).
Then don’t do them. Problem solved.
2) Announces/preview of collections – prices skyrocked before the patch. It is about this topic, where author says about 1000g. I don’t want to buy these items any way. This problem is linked with 3rd (very low drop rate for these items + random).
I did admit this was a problem, but then again, it would have happened immediately after the patch anyway, it only made a difference of a few days. Did that effect a few? Sure. But any change effects a few, its an unavoidable fact.
3) Very low drop rate of exotic items from bosses chests. I play very often, but i saw these items maybe 1 time or never. a) farm bosses – nofun content most of them b) very low drop rate – boring.
I don’t plan to do these collections, because it is boring and unrewarding. I want to have:
1) FUN
2) Less RANDOM
3) Free (not cheap, i don’t want to buy them, i want to achive them).Only 4 collections are normal: Ambrite, trash , spoons, treasure hunter. Others need to be buffed / reworked. So it can be “long run” and “expensive” in same time, but it must be FUN + WORTHY REWARD.
If you dont like them, dont do them. Gratz on having two legendaries, seems like you don’t have a lot of trouble farming or paying for them then, but if this content doesn’t make you want to do more, then just do something else. Coming here complaining about them, I don’t think is going to do much more than just waste time really.
Morfedel : I seem to recall my statement was "time to farm all the " key word there is farm or more so to the point “Grind” . I am all to happy to just play the game. I would much prefer to "Just play the game all the time ".
not everyone has time to farm for rare/exotic gear. I have been playing since beta and have never gotten a precursor. I know someone who has SEVEN legendaries. A bit excessive, but I’m not losing sleep over it, I just keep playing the game.
If you don’t have the time and patience to play the way you need to for the more difficult to obtain content, maybe you aren’t going to for quite some time. I still don’t have a legendary, and that’s ok.
It’s ok that you won’t be able to get these things quickly and easily too.
The fact of the matter is, some content is supposed to be easy to obtain, and some aren’t. You are running against content that is, quite obviously, intended to be harder to obtain. The fact you don’t LIKE that its harder to obtain is a personal problem, not a game problem.
I will admit I didn’t like how the preview saw prices jumping to huge levels before the patch even came out, but really, those items are exotic for a reason. I usually see one exotic drop every… oh, week to two weeks… and its not often a named item.
So yeah, I don’t expect to get them, or the achievement, any time soon either. And I’m ok with it.
Seriously people, the game is meant to be played, not bought. You’re complaining because you cant cheaply BUY your way to content that you can also PLAY to get?
Pardon me while I wipe this tear away….
Sorry, but running the boss events for X amount of times (especially now since they can’t be done as fast as they used to be) and still not getting the item due to the kitten RNG (which some accounts get blessed and other (like mine) are cursed) isn’t an option either.
Hey, i’ve been playing since beta and I still haven’t received a precursor. I’d love to see the scavenger hunt, but it was INTENDED to be extremely rare.\
So no, I don’t really see a problem with it.
IMHO current problems:

Thank God I have the 1000 required gold and the time to farm all the stuff I need to complete the collections . ERMM wait I don’t … oh well .. hats off to all the players who received the inside info . Those prices were inflated way before the patch hit. Go figure….
You mean, like having time to play the game? Well, if you don’t have time to play the game, then don’t play. Problem solved.
c’mon, it’s not like arena net purposefully put items into a quest that they knew would be quickly and easily price gouged.. it’s not like they knew that implementing 1 of the 6 lousy added items in the home instance since launch as the quest reward would goad older dedicated players into farming tired, old, broken content.. it’s not like their sole purpose is to sham new players into thinking this game isn’t a derelict ghost town.. c’mon now
Derelict ghost town? Wow, and here I see people swarming everywhere I go. I must be hallucinating.
Really, the changes arent for your leveling an alt, but for newcomers trying the game for the first time.
I haven’t stared an alt since the change, but the question is: for someone who knows absolutely nothing of the game, is this an improved experience over how it went before? It very well might be. It’s easy to ignore that when you just want to speed level an alt.
They should make the level 20 scrolls combinable. Like in the mystic forge, say four level 20 scrolls make a level 40, etc etc.
Just so those of us with a ton of those scrolls and no desire to go through a process that some may find tedious to be able to skip through a lot of that fast. As it was , I had 60 +1 level tomes, so I was able to level a character to 80 in a few minutes, but those +1 level tomes are much harder to come by.
Add them to your wardrobe and then destroy the actual physical ones you have?
I know the wiki may not be accurate, but they are pretty close usually. Someone told me that its souldbinding on acquire was a bug, but other than that….
I’m… not sure if this is a bug or not? I got a guild assassin backpack as a drop. I didn’t buy it, but the wiki says that the only way to acquire it is to purchase it.
But I got it as a drop.
Furthermore, the wiki says its soulbound on use, but it soulbound to my character on acquire.
So… is this a bug, or is the wiki wrong? I’ve done a search in the forums but the search engine came up with nothing.
I don’t know if this was considered, but what about just making it so anyone who is playing switches to spectator mode cannot rejoin play during the current match? That would prevent those shenanigans while still allowing people who had been in spectator mode since the beginning of the game to possibly join in (sometimes I’m changing my build when the match starts, for instance, so I remain in spectator mode until I’m finished, THEN join)
Another possibility, only allow people joining a game already in progress to join the losing team, if the point discrepency is above a certain point, like, say, 100 pts or more difference?
So, I’m working on weapons for my mesmer, and decided to get as many of the mist weapons skins as I can for him: whisperblade, the anomaly, etc etc.
And it occurred to me that it might be fun to get my armor dyed in shades that match those as much as possible, make myself look illusionary as well.
What dyes do you think most closely matches the color schemes of the mist weapons and phantasms?
Ok, so, I’ve been playing since beta. Never gotten a precursor, ever. Friend of mine joined, 5 weeks ago, gets Dawn.
And messages me, “Hey, what does this mean that this is made to make a legendary weapon? What’s that?”
kitten.
LOL!
So during the Concordia mission Rox makes an off-hand comment about how Taimi isn’t always right and when I read through my story journal the comment was apparently significant enough to warrant a mention. Have I missed something or is this foreshadowing of some future discord in the chapters to come?
What is the deal between Rox and Taimi?
In the beginning of this LS, when Rox said she didn’t think Braham was weak, Taimi said “You thought it.”
“What?!”
“Oh, nothing.”
Not exact quotes, but close enough. I think that’s the root of the problem.
Ok; i saw someone in another thread said you couldn’t, which i thought was odd, wanted to confirm.
I dont think she’s lesbian. I think she’s a trisexual, you know, will try anything. Reason being? She freakin flirts with every single person she talks to, regardless of gender or race.
To be fair there are people like that in the real world. They are flirty with everyone, but yet have no interest in the vast majority of them. That is simply how their personality works.
True enough.
So, is the final story, the one where we see… well, you know, no spoilers etc… but is that story replayable?
I must say, I’m LOVING LS season 2 here.
I noticed, however, its filled with scenes that are very sad, in a way previous stories of the game havent been. For instance, when our favorite apple seller sacrifices himself, it didn’t feel… real…
With this release, it started with Dabnia. The poor girl, once engaged to a man who was too good for her. I wanted to tell her “No way girl, you’re awesome, that guy was a loser!!”
Seriously.
Since then, there was two items in Fort Salma; first, our two quaggan lovers who are desperately trying to get out, and find just one safe place in the world, and then, of course… well, the very end of the Fort Salma story instance, if you know what I mean.
And then, there was this scene I stumbled on in Prosperity:
Wait a minute, did Bloomanoo and Peneloopee die at Fort Salma, because that would make me sad.
Also, I kind of want to know what the story is behind Dabnia. Was she in Season One?
We don’t know if they lived or not, but if you stop a minute at the very beginning of the story, they will have a dialogue about how terrified they are and how they think they may never find a safe place to start their pod, then ran to hide inside a building. My thoughts, no, they aren’t dead.
What I think is going to happen, either A) they will have a happy ending, or the male is going to die and the female is going to go full out hulk.
As for Dabnia, I don’t think she has been in the game prior to dry top, but I agree, I want to know her story too.
I dont think she’s lesbian. I think she’s a trisexual, you know, will try anything. Reason being? She freakin flirts with every single person she talks to, regardless of gender or race.
In other words, she is VERY open minded.
Kas on the other hand, we don’t know how choosy she is, she only flirted with marjory, so maybe SHE is lesbian.
and I do not believe they are working on mounts. no real need for it.
Answer: No. As we’ve seen, Mordremoth seems to be going after specific waypoints, not all of them (specifically ones closer to ley lines), and Taimi’s already working up a way to protect waypoints from getting snared by it later on.
Mounts, while possibly being a neat thing, would be redundant and unnecessary in this game as is.
Although, the Sonic Tunneling Tool/Witch Broom might work as a substitute for that, if you feel like using gems for those… (shrugs)
According to taimi, all wps are near ley lines, they found they worked better that way, and didnt even realize they were doing it.
But yes, she is working on a fix to the dragon corruption problem.
You know, when the vine erupted from the ground, he probably tried to lunge for it.
Have you ever seen a quaggan lunge for anything?
On Land?
It’s not pretty.
And then, there was this scene I stumbled on in Prosperity:
If only he had picked up that Elixir of Heroes right behind him.
LOL I know, right?!
I must say, I’m LOVING LS season 2 here.

You know, I play mesmer as my main, and he is doing just fine, thank you. I only have a problem against thieves, and some hammer warriors. otherwise, I do pretty good, thank you very much.
people are like monkeys. If you give them poo, they’ll throw it at each other.
Truth is an exploit!
OP, this was an amusing tale. +1
LOL thanks! I was surprised my guildies didnt want to kick them and find two more pugs, but it was still funny.
As a side note, unrelated to my original post, we set an advertising up for a dungeon run and explicitly said 80s only. Had three people rage at us when we kicked them after they joined us, all <40; I pmed each and every one asking them to go reread our adverising more carefully.
1st, please don’t bring something from different topic to this one.
Why not? Because it reveals your hypocrisy?
+1
So, me and two guildies got two pugs to help us with a COF run yesterday.
And the first that came in immediately started moaning about the second, saying things like “I hope he doesn’t ruin this run like he did the last.”
Which immediately began an intermittent feud between the two on the fact the second was apparently kicked from the party at the last boss, because he was killing the acolytes out of order, except he said he wasn’t, and etc etc.
So they started alternating requesting kicks of each other.
I asked my guild mates if we really wanted to listen to all this, but they laughed and said, hey, just ignore them and get through the dungeon.
Which we did.
Still, reading the other kicks from dungeons threads recently, I found this experience amusing.
KevinB, I think it was your grammar. I always kick party members with poor grammar. And if they’re really a kitten, I wait until the boss is about to fall then I kick them.
I do not believe that there are any user agreement violations from kicking people at the end of a dungeon. So why even waste your time trying to report these players?
That is an extraordinarily lame reason for kicking anyone. Grammar. Really?
i didnt even read the op. always open your own instances. the (pug) community is disgusting in big parts.
thank me later
So what happens when all 5 pugs want to open up the dungeon instance? LOL
Oh you are talking about I was assuming something like “people need to drink water.”
And I don’t want to talk about the topic from other forum in my topic again, thank you.
That’s unfortunate. Some of us DO want to talk about it, however.
Yeah, griefing sure is horrible, huh? Just imagine, somebody intentionally trying to give you a hard time in-game. Awful! No reason for that! Except…
How Do We Report Guild Puzzle Trolling?
this sounds funny!
Well, i’d say people has the ability to do what ever them want in this game. It’s not breaking game agreement for doing such of a thing in open public area. If your guild event is more organized, I don’t think this kind of thing would happen. Consider about yourself before blame the others.
So, I guess griefing is only bad when it happens to you?
1st, please don’t bring something from different topic to this one.
Also, the situation is totally different, guild JP is in public area but FOTM is a instance area.
And also, if you don’t like the people who did that troll on you, you should ask for a better system, such as make the guild JP into a instance, but not to punish someone doing any action in public area.It may be a public area, but people are using a feature of the game to kick you. You don’t like the result so you come to complain. But when someone else complains that someone else is preventing their progression, that’s not acceptable.
Sounds a bit like a double standard to me.
Well, that’s what I was talking about. yes, they are using a feature of the game to kick me. But thats a bad feature.
One of the bad point is that when you kick a person from group, the is no decline to kick. This will leads people who don’t like to see the bar just click ok.That also why I said "Make penalty for this or change your LFG system! "
Right, but those people are doing what they want to do. You don’t seem to have a problem with other people doing what they want to do, people who are actually inconveniencing far more than just you.
One guy inconveniences 50 people in a guild for no real reason, and that’s okay. Two guys kick just you and that’s a problem.
Ha, thats funny, "One guy inconveniences 50 people in a guild for no real reason, and that’s okay. Two guys kick just you and that’s a problem. " If you define inconveniences for more people is worse than for one people, then thats the biggest joke I had been heard this year. The idea behind it is just “kill one people save more”. Everyone has their ability to live in the world. No matter how many people you have.
I was trying to confine the discussion to the matter at the issue, but you are just trying to bring the argument which comes out with no logic.I’m saying it’s far more likely two people had a reason to kick you, than one person has a reason for ruining a puzzle for a bunch of other people.
In fact, we only have your word that you were kicked for no reason. We don’t even know what happened. For all we know, you were kicked for something you said, or something you did. You’re assuming they kicked you for no reason, but you don’t even know who they are to ask.
On the other hand, with the jumping puzzle, there is no reason for someone to bug it out. How’s that for logic?
Again, please don’t bring other forum topic for this.
But they are similar circumstances; not identical, yes, but similar, and you are making yourself really questionable when you cry foul when it happens to you, yet laugh about it when something similar happens to others.
Essentially, you are right, NOW, that its wrong, but you were wrong IN THE OTHER THREAD for laughing about it; people were intentionally ruining other people’s fun, for no good reason whatsoever. That’s trolling, thats wrong; at least with you being kicked, they had a reason for it.
Also, if someone bug your JP out, it’s Anet need to fix it, not the person’s fault.
It ISNT?!?! If the person did it on purpose, it sure IS their fault! Seriously, wth?!
Yeah, griefing sure is horrible, huh? Just imagine, somebody intentionally trying to give you a hard time in-game. Awful! No reason for that! Except…

I was all set to agree with you until I saw the other thread. Different circumstances, yes, but its still wrong to do EITHER, period.
(edited by Morfedel.4165)
I have never had this happen to me. I’ve been playing since beta. And you say this happens half the time to you? I hate to ask, but are you at all rude to these people?
so, I have two questions involving what comes first. Since I main mesmer, I’ll use him as the two examples:
1. If I have two seperate effects that add to duration, for example runes of perplexity and master of misdirection, or confounding suggestion and runes of the mesmer for increasing daze effects, do the duration modifiers add first then apply to the original duration?
2. confounding suggestions is one example of converting one effect to another (daze to stun); if I have that, runes of the mesmer (daze) and sigil of paralyzation (stun), does it check first for the effect, then apply the duration modifiers? I assume so, but…
