How do you figure that? HoT is in maguuma. Drytop and Silverwastes are in Maguuma. So… ?

The only expansion that gw1 had added 18 dungeons.

I’m sorry, what gw1 expansion had ANY dungeons? 18?! please.

This isn’t WoW. They have said from the beginning that things would be very different. That being the case, things like Vinewrath and some other things added during living story seem to indicate that they have been testing new ideas to engage players.

It was an example, not an all inclusive list. Many people DO find the content engaging. Just because YOU don’t doesnt mean your experience matches that of others.

ESO brought me back to GW2

Just a note ESO is made by ZeniMax Online Studios, it’s only published by Bethesda.

Make sure to add the -Streamingclient command for the GW2 launcher, then you don’t have to wait for the whole thing to download.

I hate to ask, but how should this look? I have the link shortcut as:

“C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -StreamingClient

but it doesn’t do as advertised. If I put the -StreamingClient inside the quotes then it tells me the path is invalid. Same if I remove the quotes, add or remove whitespace, etc, so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong here.

I then tried different purple dies and such to look more like a phantasm myself… but I think they all just looked terrible.

But it occurred to me that the strawberry ghost food will sometimes make you look ghostly….

It only a chance it triggers though, and doesnt last long. It got me wondering if there were any other effect that might make me look more phantasmally or ghostly. Anyone know if anything like that?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Morfedel.4165

In a typical boxed expansion, the majority of the repeatable content is in the form of dungeons/raids. Generally for a $40 expansion you will get 8-10 dungeons with 8-10 additional hard modes, and 2-3 raids. These dungeons are generally what keep people playing the content as they search for new gear and master the encounters…

Is there an equivalent in HoT? What will keep us playing after we finish the story 2-3 weeks in?

I just haven’t seen any info on this, i’m sure it is somewhere, but I can’t find it.

So I only need to be signed up for newsletter to get it?

To get a chance in Beta you must be signed up. However, at this early stage of testing, only a few were selected. More will be selected later on. (a TL:DR of Anet explaining it).

And you know, I just realized I never did get successfully signed up. Those first couple days when HoT was announced and their website came up, I kept trying to sign up via their website, and it kept giving me errors. Eventually I forgot. Well, I signed up just now, hopefully for the next one lol!

EDIT: Actually that does kinda irritate me. I tried several times to sign up for the newsletter. The fact it was bugging out on me at the time wasn’t unique to me, I read on the forum others had that problem at the time, and [whine mode] its not FAIR!!![/whine mode]

LOL

However, it IS my fault for not following up on it later on. Ah well, honestly, the odds are against any one specific person having been chosen anyway. It was a luck of the draw, and far less slots than people who signed up for them. NOW I’m signed up, and hopefully will get into the next one.

They have gone out? Then no, I didn’t, kinda disappointing .

Played since the 3 day headstart, bought collectors edition (roughly £135) still didn’t get in.
Guess they take other things as well into consideration or I was just unlucky.

Oh well, I am sure I will read any new information and get to play when it actually comes out.

If I recall, it was basically random; as long as you were a very active player, it didn’t matter if you started day 1 or last year, if you’d been playing actively and still are currently, everyone had an equal chance of getting invited.

At least, that’s how I understand it. I could be wrong. I didn’t get in, and I’ve been playing since beta. Disappointed? Sure. But I’m not surprised either.

Besides even if they were focusing on serious vets, there were still a LOT of people playing back then too, and they may have had very limited slots this first time around.

Underwater combat in HoT

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Morfedel.4165

Morfedel.4165

I really was sad to see underwater combat was removed from PvP and nearly removed from WvW. I wish they would do something to expand and make underwater combat more interesting.

Part of the problem is a lack of weapon choices. You get two, total, barring those with only one weapon choice. If they broadened the horizon weapon wise, and perhaps had some skills that changed functionality underwater (I love how mesmer’s moa morph turns into tuna morph) for example.

(Yes, I know some have changed, but not sufficiently imho)

And maybe even make some really interesting underwater areas. Say, an entire city with a raging war between krait and quaggan. A dungeon ruins exploring an ancient sunken city; things like that.

Ah well. As said before, I suspect they are reducing, rather than improving, the underwater experience. But one can hope!

Hm, I wonder what the Revenant’s underwater weapons and abilities will be?

Suggestion: Runes and Sigil Managment

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Morfedel.4165

Morfedel.4165

Not great, obviously, but the trick is volume. The runes and sigils are basically worthless, even to a vendor, so unlike mfing rares there’s not really much of an opportunity cost to chuck ’em in there.

Occasionally you end up with a free dungeon rune (soulbound, which is kinda annoying) or valuable meta rune/sigil you can sell.

It resulted in a pretty large bank bage of exotics after a year or so that I eventually liquidated on the AH for around 240 gold, and a savings on runes for guild members of maybe twice that based on what people kept to use for themselves.

Not great, but in my opinion a better fate for all those spare runes and sigils than the vendor, and if I did the math I probably made more money than vendoring them. On you get used to doing it maybe once a week, with stacks of runes from your entire guild the law of averages starts to kick in and you end up with a little treasure for your time sifting all that thrash.

hm. Maybe I’ll consider doing it then. But I swear, it seems like such a time sink. I suppose my gamer ADHD is my own worst enemy in that regard lol

Morfedel.4165

I usually mystic forge them. Given the extremely high number acquired from salvaging, it’s probably one of the best regular uses of the mystic forge’s RNG.

What we started doing is just putting them on a bank page and every once in a while people would run stuff through the forge. Whoever is inclined to do all the forging is generally entitled to keep the results, and leftover 3-sets go back in the bank to help others MF their runes/sigils.

Hm. What kind of return rate are you getting with the mystic toilet? I did it briefly and got crap, decided it wasnt worth the time.

Found dead: the 'Zerker meta?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Morfedel.4165

Morfedel.4165

One shot mechanics promote zerker meta. If there is someone wearing full zerker and someone wearing full pvt but both insta-down to the same one-shot attack if they dont dodge, then whats the point of having any toughness or vitality stats. There should be a viable option to build or sustain otherwise atleast where pve is concerned, all those fancy traitline and stat combinations are just for show and obselete.

Could you list all those one shot mechanics that affect full pvt geared players?

Not sure if he meant it literally.

But pretty sure he means that the way mobs are designed encourages allot more reliance on dodging, blinds, evasion & otherwise avoiding damage over support & being able to take the blow.

Unless they make mobs do allot more untelegraphed attacks at a quicker pace (faster but less damage per hit) and have them more frequently use conditions this problem is unlikely to change & zerk will still reign supreme.

Before we learned to fight Subject Alpha, we went down a lot… but me in my pvt gear could take sometimes two hits and still be alive, depending. Even now, if we mess up a dodge, I can take it, a zerker usually cant. Of course, with stacking and a group knowing what they are doing, SA is now trivial, but I’m using it as a case in point.

Guild halls were something along with GvG that anyone should have expected DAY ONE with a sequel to GUILD wars.

Sadly the name GUILD WARS is given by the GUILD WARS between the major guilds of Ascalon Kryta and Orr and has nothing to do with player-guild-based PvP

learn the Lore :p

Obviously you never played GW1 otherwise you’d know better. GvG was massive hit with the playerbase and community. The way the games played out, the tournaments, the leaderboards, even how you could watch other teams play was masterfully done and underscored the game’s title. GvG should have been included at launch and was sorely missed.

This.

GvG was a big thing in Guild Wars. Frankly, I was a little shocked that they took this long to get GvG back in, and this doesn’t quite feel (from the information we have so far) to be anything like what I’d expect it to be, considering its GW1 treatment.

The reason TAUNT is GREAT for GW2

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Morfedel.4165

I’ve seen more of the zerker case. However, it does mean their dps is lower and combats longer. shrug in the end player skill DOES mean more, which is actually a good thing, but say, with equal skill level, zerkers vs bunker fighting, say, one of the really tough bosses the zerker will do more dps, but will often be the one to go down first, while the bunker, less dps, but has the staying power to keep going.

Depends on the zerker. The wannabe zerkers who read a build on metabattle, get the gear and the skills and “try” to finish content will always fail. However, those who are really good at playing zerker (read: those who already mastered the mechanics of a given fight) will never get downed in dungeon fights.

Those good zerkers can solo even the hardest boss, while the “bunkers” will be downed on the first 10 seconds. For example see how a good zerker can solo Lupicus while the rest of the bunker team is on the ground dead. The best gear stats in the world cannot save a bad player, no matter if they are bunker or zerker they WILL die. It’s all about personal skill.

Example, before we learned the best way to fight subject alpha, we often had zerkers and those with less fragile builds and the zerkers were ALWAYS going down first, and often being one-shotted.

For Subject Alpha specifically, the most bunkerish builds will also be nearly 1-shotted by him. It’s one of the fights in the game that PROMOTES Berserkers, since anything else is wasted (still getting 1-shotted).

It’s maybe one of the best encounters in the game to teach players how to rely on active defense instead of passive.

Well, THAT certainly isnt true. I ran a bunker build once way back just to prove a point against a “zerker is the only way!” dude; we both took a hit, he was downed, I only lost HALF my health. Nowhere near being nearly one-shotted.

Stop theorycrafting. Sure, great zerkers who know how to dodge and defend will survive most scenarios, but so will great bunkers. But there are differences, Just two examples:

1. WVW – run into a zerg and all the AOEs will down you much faster than an equivalent bunker. Again, of course, the bunker will do less damage, but if he is on his feet longer, he will survive longer. You can only dodge so much when a 50 man group with AOEs explode everywhere, and the bunker has a better chance of surviving it.

2. PVP – I know this from personal experience. I’ve been running builds that are either balanced (travelers and celestial) or weighted more offensive but not fully; ran into a thief yesterday who was full zerker, managed to stun him and hit him with a mesmer shatter that nearly killed him. He went full bore against me later on that match, and I lost…. less health to him than he had to me.

Granted that’s just one example. My point, however, is I think full zerker is just a beatdown waiting to happen…. for the zerker.

See, I really dont think full bunker is all that great. I’m arguing that I dont think zerker is all that great either. too many times I see the bunker unable to do much damage and the zerker unable to take it, going down way too fast. Sure, there are times where they are great, but there are times they just dont have enough defenses, dodges, etc and when they get hit thats it, they go down.

A more balanced approach, using stats that give at least one good defensive stat and the rest offensive (or visa versa) I think is the better way to go. Able to do more dps than a bunker and not get punched like a little girl when your endurance/etc runs out the way it happens with a zerker.

I’m also not saying they SUCK either. Again, this is all just arguing that bunkers do not suck. And frankly I dont think support sucks either. I think they are ALL good.

With taunt it could actually make bunkers more interesting too. Although kiting or taunt-ping-pong could be just as fine.

I wonder if taunt will act exactly like a reverse fear in terms of movement. In other words, fear will cause the victims to run off cliff faces. If there is a gap between me and my foe, the foe would usually run around it… but taunted will he run over the edge to get to me too?

Punitive? I cant tell you how many times I’ve seen people in full zerker gear go down like a sack of wet rice. Meanwhile, me in my pvt gear survived much longer.

And i have seen bunker guards in defensive sets go down when i had no trouble in my zerker. In both cases i’m sure the difference was more about skill than gear.

Example, before we learned the best way to fight subject alpha, we often had zerkers and those with less fragile builds and the zerkers were ALWAYS going down first, and often being one-shotted.

And while that boss is now easy to fight once we learned stacking tactics, the fact is if I really had to, I could sit here and name all the various boss fights where zerkers get one shotted if they mess up just one dodge. You have to play perfect every time. The bunker doesn’t have to, but could still be skilled enough to avoid attacks as much as the zerker.

I’m not saying zerkers dont have their place, I’m just saying that calling the game design as punitive against bunkers and healers is stretching it a great deal.

This allows the Tanking role to be more effective and useful to the group.

While I’m all for making healing and tanking viable (not required, Trinity is about locking people into those three roles, simply making them options isn’t bringing back Trinity), the fact is GW2 is downright punitive to anyone trying to play a healing or tanking role. Taunt won’t make tanking more effective, increasing healing power/toughness scaling and introducing an intervention mechanic (the opposite of aggro management, instead of magically grabbing attention you have to actively position yourself to shield others from attacks) is what’s needed to make tanking viable before we should even talk about effectiveness.

Punitive? I cant tell you how many times I’ve seen people in full zerker gear go down like a sack of wet rice. Meanwhile, me in my pvt gear survived much longer.

Its a tradeoff, and yes, switching “roles” does have its rewards. You can be just as punished for playing dps roles.

And running with a guardian who is specced for support has its advantages too.

So, no, it isn’t punitive.

If it does work like that though then Revenants would have no real build options at all beyond weapon and legend. Your bar would literally just be weapon on the left and legend on the right. It defeats the entire point of having slotted skills.

Admittedly it would make Revs incredibly easy to balance in comparison to the other professions… maybe that could be why. :/

Whether yes or no, really, I’m fine with it, I’m just happy to get a new character profession, but the idea amused me.

for that matter, people talked about Rata Sum being mursaat, but the devs finally came out and said it WASN’T, regardless of the fact Rata sum is an anagram.

Note, I’m not saying they AREN’T mursaat. I’m saying we cannot definitely say it IS either; as another poster mentioned above, we see all kinds of maguuma ruins that it resembles that COULD be mursaat, but we don’t really know for sure.

That city has a mursaat symbol on the door, by the way. Or at least the White Mantle symbol. If they’re not mursaat, then they’re white mantle who transformed themselves into what they thought the mursaat looked like.

But to be quite honest, I’m pretty sure they’re a mursaat redesign. They don’t look like Djinn, Margonites don’t look like that and wouldn’t make any sense, Seers have four arms, Forgotten are upright snakes with four arms that don’t wear armor or clothing, etc etc. Despite their new appearance I’m fairly certain they’re mursaat.

But they don’t resemble mursaat any more than they do those others.

They resemble mursaat a crapton more than they resemble Seers or Forgotten due to basic body types.

Matgonites and Djinn are fairly safely out too, being Elona stuff and having absolutely nothing to do with the meguuma area or the dragons (whereas the mursaat have to do with both).

The resemblance is superficial I believe. Look at the radial fins off the mursaat. I just went and looked at their pictures. They have 14.

These off the trailer do not. I think it was 4-6, but certainly not 14. Additionally, the story of GW1 indicates that the race did not survive the events surrounding the game.

That being the case, however, I won’t argue the fact that they GW2 design team could have taken artistic license here and changed the design, or perhaps the mursaat evolved; and they could certainly come up with some artistic license with the story to explain how the mursaat survived, too.

But I think it isn’t as obvious that these are mursaat as some are claiming. Possible? Sure. But certainly not a given. There are too many discrepancies to account for without the explanation of the aforementioned artistic license.

I watched the PAX announcement on twitch about HoT and I actually have to say that I’m a bit disappointed (btw the host… it felt like i was watching a kids show).

And here you answer your own questions.
GW1 and everything you mentioned was targeted to the responsible gamer.
GW2 is for low end teens and the “not so gifted” people.

From day 1 on everything was dumbed down in steps.
The days of building a character with combos and skills are over.
These are the days of button #1 hammering.

If I could use an explitive here I would, but that’s utterly untrue. Media across the globe was raving about how innovative GW2 was, and I agree.

The skill combos from GW1 were extraordinarily abusive at times and very difficult to balance. THAT is the truth of the matter.

If you expect an awesome game with a deep story and incredible fantasy elements
GW2 is the wrong game for you.

Again, that’s seriously kitten. GW2 has some of the best story around. I won’t claim its the best ever, but it’s more involved than most mmos out there, that don’t really trouble themselves with a story at all, just a backdrop.

Grab any class with a random race and get ready for hammering #1.
It really doesn’t matter what class or race, for any reason A-Net decided having variety
is confusing and all classes should be the same.

You really haven’t learned to play, then, have you? Go into any pvp or wvw fight just hammering 1 and see what happens to you. I want popcorn, so I can watch and laugh.

Hammering 1 is for noobs, the poor players, and the lazy. If you ascribe to GW2 being about hammering #1, does that make you one of the three?

Actually i was expecting from the expansion to reduce everything to a single class.
Since heavy armor guys run around with staffs and scepters and light armor classes with great swords we don’t need any new or any classes anyways.

Welcome to these days gaming

Less of a RNG simulator
This might sound weird to some but I want to know what I’m going to get, I want to know how far I’ve come to that goal and I want to know how much work is left. I do not want a chance of getting something that I can throw in the mystic forge for a chance of getting a box that might contain another box that I need 10 of for this crafting recipe that gives me a component that I need to put in the mystic forge… you get my point.

Uhm. What do you mean knowing what we get?

A third person camera that work, first person view and ui changes
Fix the third person camera, just do it. It is way to centralized and too low down. Why did you remove first person, just why? It worked fine in gw1. I also miss the freedom to configure and place the hud exactly where you wanted it on the screen, why remove this feature? why?

Really don’t think this is going to happen, and btw, I think the camera works fine (though I will admit 1st person might be nice)

Mounts
Some people dislikes mounts, I don’t. I think they are fun, visually pleasing and gives more freedom. But I don’t think that the current gw2 world structure is appropriate for mounts. I was therefor hoping that in the new expansion they would make for example the crystal desert a huge open area with a lot of open terrain. This would be unpractical to traverse, unless you had mounts. The waypoints should be more disperse and less frequent around the world and somewhat replaced by mounts (travel inside a map should be primary for mounts while travel between maps is done with waypoints). You could also add speed limits for example so while in the open you are free to travel in full speed while near cities you travel slower and also areas where mounts are prohibited like in the bank. Imagine the traveling across tyria on a giant mech spider, scorpion or raptor.

With their proliferation of wps, again you aren’t going to get it, not with the already standing maps anyway. Note however, that HoT is getting Hang Gliders. While not a mount per se, it provides the same service in some situations.

The market
I was really hoping that you would reconsider your market, because it’s a disaster. I were hoping that the new expansion would give more opportunities for stuff like cross region trading. There is no good way to earn money unless you grind dungeons over and over. I look at the market at EVE Online and I see just how ridiculously bad and poorly implemented the market is in gw2. There are no industry because everyone can do everything when it comes to crafting. There are no real roles in the market like gathering, processing, assembly or transport.

wow you couldnt be more wrong here. I know people who do nothing but play the market in game and are maknig a buttload of money doing it.

Mods
Yes please, make gw2 modable. I do no buy the argument that it’s confusing for new players. Please consider players who want that customization and freedom that mods enable, more options is almost always a good thing (the complexity lies in how to ‘hide’ the advance options for advance only players).

Are you talking about the kinds of mods they allowed in WoW, where guilds were having dps and hps (healing per second) to monitor and if you weren’t within a certain sweet spot you were kicked out of the guild?

If that’s what you are talking about, then yeah, that just ruined several of my friends’ experience in WoW as they were filtered out by micromanaged monitoring set up by said guilds. It was terrible.

What kind of mods would you think would be reasonable?

More than one specialization
So why is this called an specialization when you have no options? It’s more of an optional upgrade. Sure there will be more in the future but this is an expansion after all. This feature seems unfinished to me, why release it if it’s not done?

It is an option; specializing changes some of your class core mechanics, so you are giving something up to get something else. So, for instance, you can be a ranger OR a druid, not both really, though the druid has many ranger elements.

So there is a choice. But they are also doing this to make sure the system works and, if so, release more specializations in the future. Nothing tests a system as well as the general public.

BTW, not trying to be an kitten , but like someone said earlier, its like you are asking this game to be a blend of GW1 and WoW. Something many of us do NOT want to see happen.

A new race
I remember that some one said that if you ever were to have a new race or profession in the game it would be a new race. Why? Because of the balancing problems you had in gw1 it is much easier to create a new race. I don’t need to give examples of new races. There have been many wild speculations already but still this does not seem to be a thing.

We all wanted that, but considering their reasoning it seems reasonable why they didn’t.

Quests
I liked the quest system in gw1 and I think it was a mistake to get rid of it completely. You could have made it just a little different and it would fit in gw2 just fine. I imagine something like this:
I wander around in brisban wildlands leveling my character. I stumble upon the mighty skritt king and is curious about who he is. So i walk up to him and talk to him. He says that he is the mighty skritt king and have many shinies but one shiny very dear to him is lost. I a mighty hero of kryta accepts the quest to find the special treasure.
The quest should give some money, xp and achievements depending on the quest. I would also like if there were no quest markers, finding the quest should be an reward for exploring itself.
Quests can be many things like a great opportunity to give some extra lore, endless opportunities to expand and make new epic quest arcs, encourages people to talk and interact to npc’s, encourage people to explore, makes use of all the maps in the game, it’s completely optional, it’s a good complement to dynamic events.

Personal story, living story, Hearts and dynamic events already fill this bill.

Player housing
Yes, I wanted this a lot. This is so huge of a game changer. Think of all the good it can bring. The end game goals, the prestige, the gold sink, the value increase in low tier materials, the role playing, and the list goes on. Please make this happen.

Well, we already have our home instance. Granted it isn’t terribly customizable, but we do have it. As for a game changer, do you really believe that? I’m not sure I disagree, but not sure I agree either.

Heroes
I loved the heroes in gw1, however I see why this is not a thing in gw2. I still really enjoyed collecting heroes and then gearing them up. The best part of it all was the combos and builds I made to complement my own build. Perhaps this could be a thing but in a smaller scale, like if we all could have a mini like hero to company us around tyria.

I could be wrong, but I believe heroes were added in to help a population that was beginning to flag.

Templates
Is this so hard to implement? Just an option so save and share different builds is huge. Now that traits are free to change i really don’t see why this is not a thing.

Now this I can agree on. It would sure be nice to hit a button or two and change my build rather than having to pause and change it over and over.

New weapons aka new skills
This is something that we have heard were a thing but is never mentioned. I liked the skills in gw1 and that you were free to put together a set of skills to make it perfect for your play style was a lot of fun. It was a huge disappointment for me when this was not carried over to gw2.

Wait, you mean you want to customize the first 5 slots? You realize that will never happen, right? And we are already getting a new weapon each class, albeit possibly only through specializations.

A true raw support class, like monk
I know how much Arena Net and their fanboys detest the “holy-trinity” but I think that done right it is a lot of fun. I don’t necessarily say that we need a healer but a class that really makes the difference in a dungeon or raid. I find that the problem now is that every one runs full glass canon dps, why? Well it works, and it the best way to do it as it is right now. But if we would have new truly challenging content in this expansion what would that mean for a glass canon dps group? Well hopefully if it is truly challenging that won’t work. So what do we do then? Well if we had one person that acts tank and get all the toughness he could tank, but only he. There is no taunts or tanking in gw2 so there is no way to control who takes the damage. One way to solve that is that everyone is a tank, but now no one deals any damage. So what I’m looking for is a support class that can protect the dps so they for instance heal for the same amount as their damage but the same class can buff the tanks so they deal more damage for instance gain might on each hit.

That goes against one of the very founding premises of GW2, and one most of us, I would bet, NEVER want to see happen. The holy trinity was a curse for many games, including GW1. I remember the times groups standing around begging a monk, or barring that, a restore ritualist, to join the group so they could go, and it took at times quite a long time.

Is that what you’d like to see us return to?

That being the case, though, there are some classes that fit the bill more than others. Guardians, mark necros, water/staff eles, shout/banner warriors, certain engineers, in fact MOST classes can fill a certain amount of support roles if you want. Or take a couple support abilities and do a partial role.

But if you got what you’re asking for, we’d suddenly see the return of groups waiting around looking for someone with that one desperately needed class, and thats the last thing anyone wants.

The stats on a SW build are somewhat flexible due to SWs not scaling with the user’s stats (besides Bow of Truth’s active, which scales with healing power). I’m not entirely sure what you would use, but I suppose it would depend on the kind of SW build? I’m guessing berserker stats would work for most offensive SW builds. Zealot stats would work well, but sadly there are no zealot amulets in PvP.

Hm, so SW doesnt scale with user stats? I didn’t know that. I’d assumed it was like Mesmer’s phantasms, which DO scale based on the mesmer’s stats.

If that’s not the case, the stats wouldn’t really matter too much, eh?

Morfedel I gotta agree with Siobhan. Your way of phrasing doesnt make us want to help you….at all..

In response though. It depends on how you set it up. If your using SW for htere utility youl prob be looking at something NOT focused on damage. Meaning that youl be running tanky sets. (probably a cleric variant with Hammer Shield Bow and Mace/Shield Scepter/Focus)

If your using htem for the burst potential. You have atleast 6 in zeal for the damage increase. and probably 4 in radiance.

Youl want to pick something that allows decent damage without being squishy since you dont have defensives from traits. Youl probably go soldiers.

If you want to go the condi variant youl STILL have 6 in zeal and 4 in radiance. But youl have amplified wrath instead. With this youl probably go carrion or celestial.

I was thinking of going 6/4/2/0/2, zeal VI/X/XI, Radiance III/VIII, Valor V, Virtues V. Taking all the SW boosting traits, and adding in shimmering defense and purity.

aside from making SWs better overall, it does look like those choices are adding in a bit more to my burning potential….

All right, perhaps I didn’t word it right. The reason I said it the way I did was to avoid people coming in and making comments like “simple, don’t play SW, they suck” or something like that. There are always people like that, and I was trying to make it clear I wasn’t looking for the best build in the world, I was looking for a SW build only.

So perhaps I worded it wrong. My apologies to both of you, and whomever else may have been bugged by that. I wanted a build I’d find fun, regardless whether or not its considered weak or powerful.

I went and edited my main post slightly to reflect this. Hopefully it was sufficient.

So wait if the Stronghold map fails then they might even take Stronghold out of the game?( moba style gw1 esque gvg hope it doesn’t fail it could be the new Esport setting!) I mean they already did take out one map. Raid on the Capricorn which IMO was a great looking map!

The original Guild Wars introduced a new kind of PvP called “hero versus hero”. It was such a massive failure that it was eventually removed from the game. So yep, it’s possible that, if Stronghold is another massive failure, ArenaNet would remove it.

Possible. But one of the models for Stronghold was Fort Aspenwood, and FA was very awesome and very popular. I think we have a reasonable chance that it could work out well.
