I can’t believe we live in a world where the excessive purchase of not a second, but a THIRD monitor is not just acceptable but coveted.

… might be that Alex “DeLarge” in your sig, but i can’t agree more, singularly speaking at least.

It is actually a lack of foresight too expecting that it is ok for every player to repeat the content even for the same rewards already earned, and that these players will stay.

When a good chunk of the playerbase will have all the styles collected will scream for new content, which is right from the developers to serve.

Cosmetics needs are variegate and volatile and this is good for their economy, what cost is not owning the style, but applying it, and being T-Stones services which require one of the 2:
a) money
b) players dedication, which translates in players base retainment, which keeps the game populated and popular, which brings always new players possibly until market saturation.
Some new players will never spend a dime in the gems, some will do, for A.Net it is always money to invest in new content and improvements.

OT:
Still here? With so many important things you have to tell the devs? Godspeed pal.

Back in topic:
“The point is that the stone is a gold sink ok fine, but being already a cost it shouldn’t have any further drawbacks, that is losing what you earned already.”

Better have the styles saved likes inks, pretty ordered, without cluttering bank/inventory.

Then when you want to apply the style you buy a stone as you do now and you get the desired cosmetic effects.

When you grow tired of it, you buy another stone, use it and get a shiny new look.

Missing the previous look? Just buy another stone, browse your earned styles and use it.

If your earned styles were saved like inks, you shouldn’t have to re-farm to obtain the same exact styles you already earned before like you have to do now with the current transmutation system.

This is the point. Trolling free now

OT:
Of course the game have many more important problems, but these deserve their own proper thread.

Sorry if you miss my point, don’t focus on gold or RM, that it was there just to say things correctly, in fact trans. stones are items featured on the gem store, it is not available from in-game merchants for gold

The system requires

A – 1 source style item
B – 1 target stat item
C – 1 transm stone

So you start getting A and B which both requires time and dedication, then you spend for C gold or RM, it is not important, they are just time and dedication too.

before the transmutation after the time and dedication you own
- 2 styles
- 2 items for stats (assuming the stats are different)
- the stone

after
- 1 style
- 1 item for stats

The point is that the stone is a gold sink ok, but being a cost it shouldn’t have a drawback, that is losing what you earned already.

So actually it is not a gold sink, it is a con, a life sink.

PS: Ahhh…… and yes, it might be a my problem, would you want me to shut up because you’ve decide that, ah!

I used 2 Fine transmutation stones today… stil got 13 more as well as 32 basic trans stones now. Please oh please find where my account was charged any real money for these stones because I could’ve sworn I got them all from black lion chests (for free) and as completion awards for 100 percenting zones… it’s not a RM sink unless you choose for it to be.

I repeated what I already said because you still believe that category C – the trans stone… can only be acquired through the gem store. That is entirely and utterly false, as I have said, and putting time into the game can earn you those just as well.

You can spend the time, to get 2 styles, 2 stats, and one stone and as a result get 1 style+stat combination for zero cost aside from the time you put in.

Please, feel free to completely ignore my more valid argument on the matter yet again…

You don’t read me, your fault. Go back to primary school, learn to read.
I never implied you need to buy with RM, i wrote you need gems, i believe you and i both know we can buy gems with gold.
Although so, gems are not avoidable in the process if you have no stones.

But this was not the focus. But you cannot read, i forgot.

But the current system it is destructive, and also requires you to spend some gold/RM in it, so it look pure sadistic to me from a design point of view.

And it’s not a gold sink it’s a time sink. You want to buy skins then it is, but all the best stats can all be found on dungeon armor so again, it’s only a gold sink if you choose it to be.

You can choose to get any stats for your armor in this game by spending time in it, end of story. The rest is optional and if that’s your problem then it sounds like it’s just that – YOUR PROBLEM.

I agree this system is pretty stupid and makes the player feels stupider by abiding it silently.

We all agree it is a gold sink, ok.

But i’d like to collect any style on the skins i hardly have work to purchase/drop/craft them and store every of them for further use without having to ever worry how to get it anew.

But the current system it is destructive, and also requires you to spend some gold/RM in it, so it look pure sadistic to me from a design point of view.

Style should be stored in an apposite space, like inks are stored, and only then i’m ok if they require a transmutation stone to apply it.

I cannot argue with their business choices even if i disagree, but the system they implemented for cosmetics is de-facto clunky and dis-functional.

Every class but Warrior nerfed

OMG what a horrible balance patch…

1) rather than class balance start by trying to fix broken DE’s, challenges, exploits…

1.bis) add that FoV slider, you used the FoV of a console game because you plan to release this game for the XBOX fine, but we ALL are playing it on a PC at the moment, so just set the FoV to a more appropriate 85-90 deg rather than the 65 you’re using. (see http://youtu.be/blZUao2jTGA, and http://youtu.be/S1XsPYPGcl0)

2) if you really have to look in to class balance for the love of <place the name of your favourite faith> FIRST YOU HAVE TO SPLIT PvP FROM PvE

3) if any balance had to be applied to classes it would be just the opposite you’ve just done
That means that all the other classes should have received a bump to bring them close to the experience of playing a warrior. And i’m not talking of PvP and GS->Hundred Blades, i’m talking of the general farm speed in comparison to any other classes.

Now dear class balance designers i’m playing all 8 classes, but it seems to me you want to pigeonhole me into my warrior, in the light of that can i have back 7/8th of the price i payed since the other options to play the game are not enough worthy in your opinion?

well i actually read every post now, and the example and stuff

so FoV is just zooming out of your character?? -_-

yeah, that’s what i got from all of this, and yes is a simple thing

I don’t believe you’ve read a kitten thing.

How many times to do people need to point out that FoV is not zoom?

How many examples and videos do we have to post more?

Please watch this video and the second part it.

If you watch this video and still come back with FoV=Zoom, then I don’t even know what to say.

Pretty enlightening, i’d recomend watching part two also (http://youtu.be/S1XsPYPGcl0) also adds upp, and makes quite clear because DX9 were used instead of dx11, that is a foreseeable console compatibility -.-

So in short the designer claimed they prefer not to having bad texture painted over geometrical artefacts, but they are comfortably ok with customers suffering from motion sickness. Lovely.

So we have to suck it up and our options are:

1) get motion sickness

2) buy 2 more displays and a more powerful video-card to manage the gfx power that the resolution of 3 displays require

3) use a forbidden, close coded and thus potentially dangerous 3rd program application, as we were exploiters, because we’ve run out of options for they DO NOT WANT add a built in frigging FoV slider…

Oh just great

Thank you all for your feedback.

For the record, all items i was wearing was 20+, green when possible.
At the moment i’m specced 5 Air (… going to Bolt to the Hart), 10 Arcana (Final Shielding)

I normally go around D/D, or S/D, but in comparrison to melee classes whose most attacks hit AoE i have a lot of problem with Ele’s attacks, because they easily miss if i’m not positioned 100% well, or if i just have some lag.

In the long run i’m planning this: http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#ccszz9Mz0ohaLmomaLmGaa0xVcocmcq

I often read Ele should spec deep into Earth and Water, but aside the raw stat boost in Though/Vit i see few versatile traits usable out of their respective attunements.

@Celine.3287
If Warrior are in the sweet spot then all the other classes need a big lift and a huge share of love.

I met 2 centaurs shooters, lvl 25, and they shot me to the ground using 2 skills in 10 seconds
I could not probably avoid them, no ground markings, i don’t remember any, so it was just about looking at the animation and timing… i could just dodged one shot of the 2 by rolling over him while he was aiming, but nonetheless i was still under fire by the second one all the time anyway.

Is this normal? I’m cycling my alts and hopping into my ele i was shocked how easy my kitten got kicked without any chance to do any close the damage i deal with other classes like warrior, guardian, ranger or thief, and without their survivability through armour value or a good number of evasive skills.

Is Ele so broken?
It was good until level 25, harder yet, but still doable, but now if i miss a single dodge i’m cc’ed and easily smashed to pulp in the time of a blink.
I don’t know, i’m probably spoiled by the easy mode of the other classes i’m playing or i’m just nab.

PS: shot is from a de-leveled state, post mortem

[…]
If they’re really worried about PvP, they should implement a fixed FoV for it.

This.

I don’t care if they find more reasonable to have a narrowed FoV for PvP fight mechanics, but when i have to look around and i’m not fighting, nor PvW’ing i’d like to take a good look at the surroundings without getting headache at every camera sway.

They could even use camera FoV and movements for dramatic effects, ie: wide FoV while walking, exploring, and then quickly narrowing it down, getting the camera closer when a fight starts.

It would be a feature rather than an annoyance like as now.

The answer the designer gave, claiming the FOV will stay, is plain stupid to me.

1) The majority of players dislike the current FOV

2) The designer claim changing it is not feasible it because of technicalities which will result in graphics artifacts
… i don’t see any of these artifacts in any video posted by user featuring the external FOV changer
… i don’t see any of these artifacts in any video posted by users featuring a multi monitor setup, which in the end is the same thing as using a FOV changer

3) since using a multi-monitor setup is the same thing as having the FOV changed i don’t see any reason why they would not allow it
I don’t see why using a program to change it should be passable of banning, except justbecause it is an external program, but the multi monitor driver is the same an external program de facto

Concluding, the decision they are taking and the answers they are giving the community is pure fud.

I tried picking the male huge-not fat body type, which has the good of not being so curved on the back as more muscular body types (i dislike hunchback posture :/), picking a short muzzled face and scaling it all the way down, but previewing armours from the vendors i end up feeling Shrek anyway…
It actually reminds me how bad and demential tauren and orks from wow looked in some heavy armour.

I’d just be glad they change GTAoE abilities with a simple press and hold-> position-> fire at release, resetting the pointer at the centre of the screen at the beginning of positioning phase.

More simple and effective than both the regular and the fast(and blind) ground targeting systems in game at the moment.

The problem mainly is that the pointer goes MIA duiring heavy fights, so GTAoEs often misfire where they shouldn’t.

I’d also like to see an option to toggle GTAoE to perform like TBAoe (Target Based, centering on target) in place of the fast option we have now.

Yeah, transmutation stones seem like a terrible solution, until endgame, when you won’t be upgrading so often. Leveling up, it just feels like a waste, going through them so fast.

I wish they’d just do the appearance tab thing. Would solve all sorts of issues like this.

Appearance Tab all the way!

I don’t understand why they don’t let us collect styles like we collect inks, in a separate and ordered tab and not in the messy bank/inventory.

I’m fine needing a Transmutation stone to apply the style each time, but please make the whole appearance system less clunky, thanks.

  • the Hunchback problem: you made so many armor styles, but they are a pain to show them off when your character is bent so badly frontward.
Hunchback position is fine during combat, but when we are not running or fighting can we stand a little more fiercely tall?
  • the Slow-Mo of Doom: i understand every race run at the same speed and being Charrs bigger their animation needs to be slowed, but i’d prefer to look running at a normal rate, even if it looks a little fake, and not like a British Bulldog when it thinks it is running*, which in the end is so slow to looks a little fake anyway

*for who doesn’t know British Bulldogs have 2 speeds: 1)walking, and 2)ludicrous speed. Ludicrous speed is slow as much as walking speed, but at ludicrous speed the bulldog appear excited like a kid in front of his 1st ice cream store and it emits strange noises from the throat, the tongue is long spat out dangling, and salivation levels are maximum.

Game Improvement - Suggestions

Styles:
Using styles now is very clunky:
1) if you want to collect many it will require a lot of inventory/bank space
2) the mechanism is lossy, because in the process the object from where the style is taken will be destroyed, and the original style that we override on the target item is lost forever as well.

Change the system to:
- TL;DR: like as for inks but requires transmutation stones
- Have a tab for storing styles, a place aside normal inventory or bank space.
- Styles can be collected by wearing it the for the 1st time, this will soulbind the item to the character.
- Style tab will be very ordered like the collectibles bank tab
- Once collected a style will need a transmutation stone to be applied like it is required now
- The process will not be lossy or destructive, because the style collected will not be destroyed, but it can be applied infinitely (as long as transmutation stones are available) and the original style of the item we override can be stored in the styles tab.
- Styles tab are per character
- TL;DR bis (echo effect): like as for inks but requires transmutation stones

Inks:
When we select an ink, it should be possible to preview the effect on the gear parts which would be affected by the change just by rolling the mouse over the small rectangles of each item, before actually applying it

Ground Targeted skills
To improve visibility and usability when activating such abilities they should work diffently, maybe a press and hold till positioning, and then fire it at release.
E.g.:
- when the key is first pressed have a nice and visible way to find where your pointer is on the screen, or just reset its position in the very centre of it, because in the hot of battle it goes often MIA and takes ages to find before even positioning it :)
- hold the key down pressed till the user position the pointer
- when the key is finally released the skill is actually fired

- fine materials drop rate is way way way too low (after cooking change, marginally better before)
- some fine materials drop in quantity 5 times higher than others (i.e. Tiny Venom to Weak Blood)
- butter is dropping too much, really too much (after cooking change)
- excess of metals and wood through resources nodes
- lacks of leather and cloth drops
- vegetable common resources need more equity, i have excess of some type, and lack of other

I don’t expect that if i my chars were higher level these drop percentage would have been much different.

Black Lion salvage kits should be exempt from karma item salvage prohibition.

Besides, I got the impression karma items were never meant to be a part of the economy.

This.
You get karma for events, and spend it on items.
Not exchange it for extra gold.

Agree, yet you can buy recipes with karma, and the products of recipes go into the economy, another short sight?

Warriors feels to me the strongest class, but i’d rather not call any class OP or UP.
Thief is very hated for Heart Seeker skill by the people who stand there to soak it -.-
Mesmers can shine in sPvP or 1v1, but they feel very fragile to me.
In the end i think it is mainly the Engineer that should need some help as many skills are not working properly and overall damage output is quite low.

How do I duel my friend?

Call him, or text him, or write on his FB wall if you prefer, that you are waiting for him outside, down his building.

Really duels are annoying.

It’s called a money sink. Be glad that dyes are reusable and only need to be unlocked once

I know it is a money sink, indeed even if i’m not fond of it, the game has no subscription cost and it has to earn money elsewhere.

What i don’t like it is the whole clunkiness required if someone wants to keep many styles. To do that a player would need to store in the inventory each piece of style he likes, even applied onto a lvl1 white item, just to store it somewhere.

Bank/Inventory it is another money sink, and so it would be also in my proposal (b), but at least it would be practical and not clunky.
