I like that there are tiers (achievement points and exp at each tier), but I’d like to know the full number as well as the tier number:
“Monthly events: 12/25 (tier 1 of 4, 100 total)”
“Macros
…
You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere.”
but I don’t believe that answers the question of an auto-clicker while you sit there staring at it, doing nothing else – just that one action at a time. though it does allow you to being playing as well, whether you use it or not.
the funny part: you can be playing while opening chests with a normal mouse anyways (inventory open, double-clicking while your autocast is attacking the boss with your bow)
to give you an idea how frequently keys dropped when gw2 first came out, let me use this example: I had 20 stacks (25 uses each) of black lion salvage kits all from keys I found or map completion from one character, and I was getting more faster than I was using them on exotics, so I started using them on rares to get ectos. shortly after starting to do this they stealth-nerfed the key drop rate, and I didn’t catch on that the kits I had would be all I had for a long time until I only had 3 stacks left.
They do seem to drop more often in low level areas. also from gathering low level plants. when I wander around these areas I find like 1-2 per hour. I just don’t go there often…
first 1 or 2 months of playing, I would find a key about once every 5-10 hours from random mobs. at some point they cut back the drop rate (I have no idea – but some time around jan I realized I hadn’t got one in a while), and now I’ve found maybe 2 in the last 5 months.
map and story completion is about the only way to find them now. I’d estimate you have a 1 in 10 chance of getting one from completing an area.
I feel like the timers were there before that. at least just the dragons. they added timers for other events when they added guaranteed rares to them. still not all of the rare chest events are listed. some are just unpopular, and not all are even predictable (like the pre-events are too long)
I challenge you to successfully play Wintersday’s Bell Choir Ensemble.
I play with my skills remapped from 12345,6,789,0 to qwert,g,zxc,a
I tried it once before I remapped it to default, completed it with perfect score, remapped it back, never went back there.
if you could repost your item for zero cost, then so could those who undercut you. you’d end up having to constantly repost your item and it’d end up 1c above the buy order price. do you really want that? I’d just save myself the hassle and sell to buy order instead.
this is how it is for buy orders, and I can tell you that having the highest buy order for good valued things (things high flipping profit) only lasts for 30 minutes or so.
useless? not realy any ranger can bring a dead pet back to life with any tonic
Say what !?!?
yeah, what!?!? using a tonic brings a pet back to life? I’m going to try it
from what I heard, the collectors are still exactly where they were, but they are renamed and not on the map. so not obvious, but still possible to turn them in if you know where to look.
black lion chest, sorta.
it would be nice if people could list things at the vendor price (not 1c above it).
that would enable people like us who are fed up with huge supply to buy 6 million thick leather sections at 7c, then sell them to a merchant for 7c (zero cost or profit).
it would of been funny if sentel was precision (primary), power, crit
I’d LOVE to see people argue about which is more elite between that and berserkers.
it’d be even better to see groups such as “berserker gear only” … “sentinel gear only”
my ex-roommate played gw2 on her macbook pro. she said it didn’t look/run as well as my mac pro, but worked pretty good. she bought it new about a year ago, I think she got a 13" 2.5 GHz
candy corn. it fills the last 3 pages of my listings. at the end of halloween I decided to just list it all on the TP instead of having it fill my bank. I listed 5-10 stacks at each 10c, 15c, 20c, 25c, 30c, 35c, 40c, 45c, 50c. the 10c ones sold
I’ve recently been contemplating relisting them all to 13c…
I’ve found bags that will usually give a profit when opened compared to selling them. they are usually lower level.
I’ve opened maybe 30 heavy moldy bags in the last month. 2 of them had this fancy Giant eye. I had never even seen that item in the ~7 months before then. fun times.
3 ways:
- your server is OP and owns the entire map and you just walk there
- be stealthy and sneak your way into enemy territory. doesn’t always help with keeps, but you can use one of other 2 options for those.
- wait and hope that your server will be at another location next week.
240 major runes gives about 15 superior runes.
it depends which superior runes you get out for if it’s profitable or not.
I believe the median sale price of superior runes is around 80s. I haven’t looked into the mean sale price.
I didn’t realize how awesome it is having a SSD until I watched someone’s live feed on twitch. I actually asked my guildies if it took them that long in loading screens as well. they just asked me if I had a SSD :P all of the twitch guy’s loading screens took what seemed like 15-20 seconds. mine takes around 4-5. I never knew how spoiled I was
I’d guess that it’s not uncommon for suggestions to only be looked at when they have nothing else to do.
magic find.
mf only means mystic forge in obvious context
never heard anyone refer to molten foundry as mf before. (then again, “the new dungeon” is probably the only thing that would tell what you’re talking about atm… :P)
The Golden Lotus only adds 10% mf, not 30.
OP: try unequipping everything, note the hero panel’s mf total, then equip items one a time, noting how much should be added and how much the hero panel says was added.
yeah, people know that everyone wants precursors, and they also know that you will always make huge profits when investing in things everyone wants – ESPECIALLY when it’s very limited.
I brought this up elsewhere, people seemed to like it, so I’m posting here:
I suggest having around 8 random ways to earn points toward your daily.
when you get 100 points, you completed the daily and get those rewards.
There is no cap on any of them. but after you complete the 100 points and get daily achievement, you stop getting achievement points for them
The difference between that and now is that it’d be possible to gather 100 things to complete daily. or kill 25 vets. or do 5 dungeons. or 2 dungeons and 60 gatherings.
This allows for more freedom with what you do to get it. You’ll be more likely to actually complete the daily achievement in your normal course of playing, instead of having to go out of your way to another area of the map and do something you don’t want to do to complete it.
As an example of why this would be good: let’s say someone like’s playing GW2. They roam around the countryside, complete any event they find, gather from any resource node they come across, get vistas, explore new areas, take screenshots. So they’ve completed “kill 50 monsters”, “complete 5 events”, “gather 20 resources”, and “complete 1 jumping puzzle”. But to get the daily achievement they would of needed to go into WvW or find a group for fractals or eat more food than would be healthy or know what keg brawl is.
point being: they have to go out of their way, that makes it a chore. people don’t like chores and they tend to start hating the things that make them do them (even if you’re paid for it).
With this suggestion, you aren’t required to diversify how you choose to enjoy playing the game, you just have to play the game like you normally do.
what’s always happened: when you sell too fast, a error message pops up and you have to wait for it to go away
since the last update, this error message doesn’t go away. you keep clicking sell and it keeps appearing.
I decided to test this, so I opened my favorite auto clicker program and had it going for 30 minutes and it was still erroring when I came back.
as a side bug: instead of saying “stop selling so quickly”, it says “Error attempting to sell”. do you realize how many bug reports and players helping players you’ve gotten over this easily fixable lingo?
(edited by Mystic.5934)
am I really the only one that agrees with the OP?
dailies are a chore. One that I am still doing, but a chore none-the-less.
“The point of dailies/monthlies was to give you a reward for things you would most likely be doing anyway in game” – except nearly everyday when I am done playing I find myself having to go through this list to see what part of the game I didn’t play so I can get my daily laurel.
Last night: perfect example. did the new dungeon twice. completed monthly vet slayer achievement + 3 daily achievements. If that quote were true, I’d have my laurel and signed off. Instead, I did the urmaug’s jumping puzzle in lion’s arch again then gathered around orr for 5 minutes.
clearly I played the game like normal, but then had to go out of my way because I want laurels.
“you don’t have to do them”, “be more diversified”, etc. = I’m not complaining that they are there, and I’ve accepted their true nature. What I’m trying to do is help the developers understand that more people will be realizing that chores are not fun and drive people away. and, yes, dailies are a chore.
one suggestion I have: have 8 random ways to earn points toward your daily. when you get 100 points, you completed the daily and get those rewards. The difference between that and now is that it’d be possible to gather 100 things to complete daily. or kill 25 vets. or do 5 dungeons. or 2 dungeons and 60 gatherings. There is no cap on any of them (but after you complete the daily, you stop getting achievement points for them). It allows for more freedom with what you do to get it. still a chore, but more likely to actually complete in your normal course of playing.
this can’t be a coincidence
are you trying to say that someone is remote viewing your computer, sees that you need this particular precursor, and bought all of them just so you couldn’t get it?
sorry to be sarcastic.
I just think it far more likely someone bought them all as an investment opportunity.
I’ve always had a problem with JS’s explanation for gem prices (his explanation includes a limited supply of gems, and gem prices reflecting how many gems are left in that supply).
- first, this would mean that at some point the price of gems is effectively infinite (because there are 0 gems left in the supply). because gem prices do not even begin to approach infinity (yet), I can safely assume we are no where near the gem limit. So even if it were physically limited, it’s limit is so high that it’s effectively unlimited. It’s possible he meant realistically limited, meaning that as more gems are purchased, the price goes up to the point that it’s impossible to buy more.
- the next is in how the price jumps around. If the supply were limited, and less gems in the supply = higher price, and people buying gems with gold would raise the price, then people buying gems with real money would also raise the price. effectively, you could buy a lot of gems to artificially raise the price so you can then sell your gems for more gold. this system just doesn’t seem like something they would do. this would also mean that people spending gems would lower the price, again this doesn’t sound reasonable. In the end, this would mean that gem prices are high only because people are hoarding gems – it wouldn’t have anything to do with gem item popularity, so there would be no reason gem prices would go up when something popular was offered.
basically, such a system would mean that gem prices are increased when you buy gems with gold or money, and decreased when you sell gems for gold or items.
I think it far more likely that the only thing that affects gem prices is buying gems with gold and selling gems for gold. It just doesn’t make sense to factor buying gems with money and spending gems on items into the gold->gem conversion price.
You can write your own app to interface with the TP, so I don’t really care about the in-game interface.
I suppose this doesn’t have to be a bot. But that’s not how I read it at first. It sounded like you were suggesting to the OP to use a bot to side-step the trading post’s UI. Sorry for the confusion
It’s possible to write your own interface to the TP that can place buy and sell orders???
I would trade my Asura’s left ear for the ability to modify that UI.
it should go away soon. annoying, I know, but that living story is almost over.
at least the dungeon is refreshing
I’m sure it requires the gem store personal hair style kit, for starters
should i get another matching ascended zerker stat ring?
I’ll tell you now, because it’s not obvious in-game: you can only have 1 of each ring or accessory equipped at a time. so you can’t equip 2 Solaria’s or 2 Halfmad’s.
what you have to do is get something like 1 Halfmad and 1 Appleseller, where they have the same stats but one gives offense slot and one is defensive slot
as for your question, you could always just save your laurels and commendations for now. if it’s that important to you, that’s probably the way to go.
it’s not an issue of reading the unique text, it’s knowing that anything could even be unique. nothing else in the game is “limit 1 per customer”, so no one knows to look for it.
from the patch notes I got the impression that the living story dungeon was the same, just multiple ways to get there.
you could put those in the MF and you /could/ get a major rune of divinity out. most likely you will get a random minor rune, and a bit less likely than that is you’ll get a random major rune. very slim chance that the major rune you could get happens to be divinity. point being that it’s rng.
2 sure-fire ways to get a superior rune of divinity: buy one from the TP or acquire an item that has it in it and salvage it with a black lion kit.
first time I did this, I tried to clear the courtyard. turned out they just keep respawning forever and your real task is to revive that captain. A surprising amount of that whole instance can be run past.
that tool and things like spidy, sure. those just tell you when something is a good buy, then you go buy it. it’s the automated buying and selling I thought was bannable.
like have it set to monitor the price of all items, and when the buy order price gets below 50% of the sell listing price, it places a buy order for the current buy order + 1. no human need play.
that’s what it sounded like to me he is suggesting
what Zicore takes advantage of is just the knowledge of the current market price and reports it to the player when certain criteria are met, then it’s up to the player to act on it.
with a bot, you could place 1000 buy orders per minute. a human can only do maybe 10.
If you can’t hold all of your profits, I can hold some of it for you. I only charge 1% per week.
cheaper than making alts for these sorts of things
You can write your own app to interface with the TP, so I don’t really care about the in-game interface.
As I understand it, this is against the ToS. I thought there needs to be an actual human entering the commands, otherwise it’s just a bot. Not likely to get caught, but still a bot and possible to get banned.
I’ll tell you how it’d go down: if the UI was easier to check if you were undercut, it’d be easier for the person undercutting you as well. Then you’d have to spend the same amount of time in an undercut war with them until one is called down for dinner or you reach a point where it’s no longer profitable to buy it.
basically, ease of use just increases the turnover rate, not your profits.
I haven’t noticed the behavior FangedTerror describes… I’ve noticed that if you type in 3g, it says you can get 100 gems for that. if you then add 1s onto that, it’ll update and tell you you can get 99 gems for that. back to just 3g 0s and you can get 99 gems for that. add 10s and you can get 102 gems for that. when you hit the button, you pay what you said and get what was quoted.
I’d almost guess that if you waited an hour it would still give you what was quoted (maybe you want to see how the price changes during that hour?) but you have to check the price on something other than the TP, which makes it tricky to know if the price went up or down in that time.
a big reason they give price breaks is because it costs money to receive money. often around $0.3+2%. So if you send them $10, they only get $9.5. If you send them $100, they only get $97.7. More gives them higher percent of the amount, so they encourage more by offering discounts. It also doubles as encouraging more spending, so it’s win/win
gold to gem conversion is a minor gold sink. gem prices rising is a bigger sink.
when you buy 100 gems with 3g, that 3g is removed from the game. someone will then sell 100 gems for 2.4g. this effectively removed 0.6g from the game (I don’t know the exact decrease in price, 0.6 was just for example). not as big as the initial 3, but something.
if gem prices rise over time, it means more people are buying gems than selling, so more gold is being removed than replenished. this removes the full 3g from the game.
buying gems with gold profits Anet because then the gems to gold conversion becomes more appealing to potential money to gem buyers.
interestingly, if you take a snapshot of the buy and sell orders, both are FIFO
but if you look at a general day of trading, I’d guess that a lot of it is LIFO, just from undercutting. I know a lot of people price-match the highest one, but there is still a lot of undercutting going on, and the last to undercut is the first to sell.
likely in invisible bag
also possible the item is account bound
you spent months gathering karma and other legendary components. you can wait a couple days/weeks for a temple to be uncontested. just check that wp on the map every time you log on, one of these days you can go there.
I think they just don’t see it as a big problem, so they don’t bother themselves with it. like typos and misleading tooltips, it doesn’t affect the actual gameplay, just our dealing with it and having to know to ignore it.
The only way to get players to play all parts of the game instead of just the most profitable:
The longer something is not played, the more rewards it gives.
This is currently the case for random mobs. If a mob is alive for a long time, the amount of experience it gives to it’s killer is increased.
If this concept were extended to loot, dungeons, dungeon bosses, events, etc. that would normalize how often everything is played.
When I include dungeon bosses, I mean across all instances of that dungeon.
And not just experience awarded, I’m talking about gold. dungeon tokens are pretty good as is, but this could possibly apply to those too.
The base number would first need to be decreased to about half of it’s current amount. Then it’s slowly increased the longer that goes unclaimed, up to double it’s current amount (4 times the base).
This would encourage people to play areas less popularly played.
This is the only way, btw. No matter how much you try to equalize things, players will ALWAYS focus on what gives the most loot for the effort.
With this suggestion, the thing that gives the most loot for the effort is to diversify.
It’s kinda like how to do Diminishing Returns from the other direction – instead of the player finding less if they stay in one spot, the player finds more by going to a new spot.
hmmmm, I usually MF to get rares to salvage into ecto.
on average, it takes 20 greens to get 1 rare. (4 per attempt * 20% chance to upgrade)
those 20 greens can be worth about 26s to 40s (since the MF will increase the level, you can start with levels <68, which would otherwise sell for less than level 80’s)
so… right now it’s not profitable to be doing this :P I should change my strategy until ecto prices go up.
before I did this, I sold 100% of my greens to merchant. maybe 1% will give more profit on the TP, but that’s hardly worth your time to check. green greatswords are the most likely for the TP to give more than merchant.
for most things, these can’t be placed anymore. a simpler solution is to just return all of these unfillable offers to the people who posted them.
that said, you can still place sell orders for Leeks below the merchant price
