you get the veggie in the same time, but then the animation and casting bar lasts longer and the only way I know of to end it early is weapon swap.
from start of cast to when you can move again, unlimited harvesting sickle takes 3 times longer than all other sickles (except when underwater – that’s the exact same time and animation as other sickles)
Is it possible just dungeon items’ salvage return was nerfed?
it seems like most people complaining of conspiracy back it up with “5000 cof tokens’ worth gave me 0.5 ecto per rare”
The ecto price has not changed since this post started, and it only went up exactly after this post started (NOT when the patch went live). If it were a rate-of-ecto-supply nerf, the rate of change of the ecto price would go up, meaning the price would keep rising. Since it was a set price change, it had to be a set price alteration, meaning someone bought a bunch then others saw the higher price and decided to sell at that higher price.
that does bring up another point (sorry to off-track the topic a tad):
master salvage kits are supposed to have “25% chance of rarer materials”
25% of 25 is 6.25, not 3. sure, small sample size, but I have been noticing this. does anyone have any larger numbers showing rarer materials’ chance to drop?
one possibility: ectos kinda count as a rarer material. like, the internal mechanic might be something like a 77.5% chance to drop an ecto, then a 25% chance to drop either an ecto or ori (if this succeeds, 50% chance to ecto, 50% chance to ori), then if it wasn’t an ori it drops mithril.
I just bought 25 rare amulets and a stack of master salvage kits, these are the ecto returns:
2,1,1,1,1,1,1,3,1,2,1,1,1,1,1,1 (also 9 0’s intermingled in there somewhere – I’m looking at the game messages)
total, I got 20 ecto, 3 ori, 28 mithril
that’s exactly 0.8 ecto/rare. pretty close to our large sample size’s result of 0.9.
it may of been nerfed to 0.8 instead of 0.9, but I can at least guarantee it’s not 0.5 (the odds of getting that far off with this sample size is pretty high), and more than 1 ecto CAN be salvaged from 1 rare.
I’ll clarify: the last time I salvaged items was 2 days ago. I haven’t tested since today’s patch. I was responding to people’s claims that they nerfed it months ago.
I’m surprised dungeon token items can even be salvaged. I would expect them to be similar to karma items in that regard.
but, anyways, I’ve agree that I do always seem to get less ectos from cof level 70 rares than any other rare. I’ve just never cared, as that’s just a bonus to running that dungeon and not even my best way of making gold.
I can vouch for non-dungeon rares still giving ~0.9 ecto/rare.
I just tried it out and am reporting some facts:
1) you can NEVER be interrupted. you can’t cancel in the middle, even with stun breaks such as blink. I just confirmed: An enemy’s kb can cancel it.
2) on land, it takes 3 times as long to gather as any other sickle. you get the food in the same time, but then you have to re-sow the node?
3) underwater harvesting takes the same length of time as other sickles, but the graphics are no different than any other sickle.Try weaponswap. It should cancel the animation.
Other than that, yeah, this animation does not belong on a sickle, it’s beyond silly. The sound is even copied from the mining pick.
Indeed it does, ty. not that that is much of a consolation prize for 800 gems, but still.
also: you can cancel underwater harvesting with it by simply moving, like any other gathering tool.

90% of the time, when I see someone boot someone because of their gear, the sub-par skills of the person doing the booting is the main reason we lost.
instead of /inspect for gear, an /inspect for win % or survivability or how well you’ve performed might actually help.

do you see every time the “sell listings raw data” price went up? only 2 ways that can happen:
- the lowest listing person removed their sell listing
- someone purchased the lowest sell listing
I count 6 times that happened in the last 7 days alone. I highly doubt people are removing items of this value from the TP when they are the lowest listing.
every time the sell listings raw data price goes down is when someone gets undercut
note that there is only 15-minute resolution here, so any buys or sells within 15 minutes of each other will look like one (so could be more than 6 buys)
SSB you need to turn off hammer. maybe even star. just too OP, it reduces the game to luck of who gets it.
SSBM or SSBB, no items are OP, so you shouldn’t remove any
one option: you can get on his computer, log into your account on the website, download the game on his computer, open it, log in with your account, have him try it with one of your alts, see how well it works. If he buys it, he won’t need to re-download it.
does the first wave still give loot? I always feel disappointed when you do an event and half way through realize you’re not getting loot even though you’re doing it as intended.
go watch the seinfeld episode, ‘The Stock Tip’
summary: George has a friend of a friend that has an inside tip to invest in a stock. Jerry and George buy some. A couple days later, the friend-of-a-friend is in the hospital and the stock is worth half of what it was. Jerry sells his shares, George hangs onto them. A couple days later, Jerry checks the price and it’s way up. Later, George says he more than doubled his money.
it’s the tax to use it. the UI is very misleading.
Unit Price is how much the buyer has to pay for each item you’re selling
Quantity is how many you are selling
Projected Profit is how much you will get when the item sells. floor(Unit Price * 0.9) final sale tax of 10%
Listing fee is how much it costs you to list the item(s). ceil(Unit Price * 0.05) it costs 5% of the total to list the item. If you relist, this is not returned, so it’s there to make sure you are selling it for a price you think it will sell at.
Actual profit will be about Unit Price * Quantity * 0.85
There are some situations where actual profit is less than this. With small values (especially below 10c), because of flooring (where 1.9 is rounded to 1) the taxes will be higher than advertised.
It’s just a cost of using that you need to take into account when selling stuff and investing.
I remember when I started, the intro gameplay kinda threw me off. it was more what I was accustomed to (with the “you should go here and kill that” sort of thing), but it was not similar to the rest of GW2, so it was disorienting for levels 2-5. Some things I recommend for a starting player:
- go to the Game Menu (top left of your screen), select Options, and check Autoloot
- kill some mobs. make sure they are within a couple levels of you or you will have a hard time doing it. If the corpse glitters, move near it and press F to pick up the loot.
- Check your inventory periodically – are there any armors or weapons that are better than the ones you currently have equipped? equip them (right-click the item, select Equip)
- find a merchant (on the map they look like coins). click Sell Junk. select unusable items and press Sell (unusable would be items for a different weight class than you, or duplicates of the same item type, or weapons for other professions). and buy a copper harvesting sickle, copper logging axe, copper mining pick, and 2 crude salvage kits. Equip the sickle, axe, and pick. use the crude salvage kits on salvageable items you find and whatever items you want to (I salvage all white items, but not blue or green. yellow and orange are tricky, but you have a lot of time before dealing with those)
- gather from most nodes you see on the map (they will look like a tree or rock or plant). Early on, you may way to sell the materials you gather on the Trading Post (some of them are better to sell to a merchant, do price-checking), but you could also save them and use them in a crafting profession to gain more exp and new items.
- buy exotic armor for you and all your alts.
- buy 4 exotic armor from Orr vendor, throw in Mystic Forge, sell what comes out. about 40,000 karma → 1 gold
- Orrian Boxes. about 22,936 karma → 1 gold, plus obsidian shards and mini – if you consume the karma potions you get from the boxes with all karma boosts (http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1bs9ki/for_boredom_8071700_karma_spent_on_1774_lost/)
I got this achievement and didn’t even know it was an achievement until last night when my guidie was complaining of not being able to get it.
it’s all luck. or cooperation. you really can’t lure people into getting steamrolled.
Leaf of Kudzu
TP. lowest sell listing was 540g, I uppercut the next-highest buy order with one for 500g00s02c, then an hour or so later someone placed a buy order for 520g, so I just bought the sell listing :P
around 900 hours played
low level areas should provide 3 times more gold, karma and exp, high level areas should provide higher level loot
pick between those I tell of you!
the amount of information necessary to make that assessment is huge.
you would have to know who is buying it, and what they are doing with it. to know that the majority of them are consuming them in recipes is impressive. (I assume that’s the only thing besides flipping or manipulating, since both of those would see dill either sit in their bank or back on the TP)
a lot of games have no leveling. really, this is what you’re describing.
zelda games, for example. monsters in the starting areas deal 1/4 or 1/2 a heart per hit, bosses deal 1 or 2 hearts per hit. as you progress, you simply get more hearts or ranged weapons or interesting accessories.
these games focus more on skill
aren’t condition ticks ceilinged and not floored?
I thought I read elsewhere than 4s+10% = 4.4s = 5 ticks (after 4 ticks, it sees that there is still time left, so it ticks again)
it was on a discussion of +condition duration and -condition duration working together
yes.
below level 30 will be tougher than above level 30.
now, I believe that all professions can solo pve, so maybe I’m not the one you want answering this :P
is it possible to transmute the skin from one weight to another? I feel like I’ve seen posts about that.
if you opened the door, you should be able to open the chest. (I’ve followed someone into that room without a key, and the chest wouldn’t open for me)
ooo ooo, find 4 others that are farming it and do it with them!
it CAN be profitable, but it generally isn’kitten takes spreadsheets and spidy’s api to know what is actually profitable at any given time. I make money off it regularly, but it’s complicated and time consuming.
the transmuted item would be salvageable only if you do NOT keep the unsalvageable item’s stats. I believe that’s how it goes.
note, however, that if you transmute it with a white item, there won’t be a chance you’ll get ectos from the salvage. basically, there is no way to get ectos out of this. but you can get the rune. since you’re going to salvage it anyways, there’s no need to even keep the item’s look.
in short: transmute it, keep the white item’s look and stats, make sure to keep the rune, then you can salvage it (probably with a BLSK) to get some mithril (or thick leather or silk) and the rune.
maybe people running with you?
how about providing the expansion in the gem store to be purchasable with gems?
price of gems goes up 40%
well, if that market were going up, then his sale listings would sell before his buy listings were filled. in that scenario, he makes money. by driving the price up so suddenly, anyone else checking it would see the spike, possibly think that a craze was going on, everyone would buy more hoping for a huge payout, and he would sell all his.
on top of the mountains in the south of Fields of Ruin. you get there by climbing the “building” near the heart “Help the Vanguard stall the ogre advance”, then pretty much just run straight up the side of the mountain. careful, as there are lots of fake floors. betcha didn’t know there’s an ocean south of those mountains
Also, my guildie got behind the Desert Gate poi’s gate from there. I was on my way but fell through the floor.
the language for super adventure box was also an english letter substitution. I never did translate anything, but I did notice repeating symbols where you would expect them (“e” in super and "e in adventure)
huh. for that one, I would usually stand where you are now, apply swiftness, then jump over some false roots on the right there to the patch of land that just walks up to the vista. at most it’s taken me 3 tries because you fall right through the roots that look solid but aren’t. jump forward things like Savage leap would make the jump ridiculously easy.
Wow, can’t unsee that now :p
me too! that is so trippy!
if he is ranged and you’re melee, he can tag MUCH more mobs than you, resulting in more credit for kills, and more loot.
this happened with my guildies in wvw :P
we all went in there, stuck together, then a while later I casually said something like “oh look, 33 badges”. they all said they had like 4-6. I was a LB/SB ranger, they were things like GS warriors and guardians.
find all the SP locations on all the level 1-15 zones. that should do it. If not, move onto the 15-25 zones.
when I needed 200 SP for my legendary, I started a new character because gathering all those SP locations and a bit of leveling was MUCH faster than just leveling. I think my level 80 main has gained 60 levels in the last 2 months. compared to 1 week to get 200 SP from an alt.
skill is more a factor in how well you stay alive than gear/build is. high toughness may let you take 50% more hits, but knowing when to dodge or use skills that get you out of harm’s way can let you take 300% more hits (meaning they miss 3/4 of the time).
have him climb a tree! or does anyone have a pot of honey?
you would get more vials if you farm globs or shards.
I bet all 3 have the same drop rate (just drop from different difficulties), but 1 glob can be downgraded to 3 vials, and 1 shard can be downgraded to 3 globs.
vials from levels 1-9, globs from levels 10-19, shards from levels 20+
The thing is earning WvW ranks is not as easy as you think, unless keeps, towers etc flip like crazy
would be interesting if a multi-server guild decided to set up a thing where half their members captured a keep, while the other half looked on, then the other half captured it while the first half looked on, etc. take turns capturing it just for a steady stream of rewards
or from abundant to rare. it can be profitable if you guess what is worthless now that is about to be rare after an update.
the word ‘unique’ is not enough of a warning. no where else is ‘unique’ used, therefor no one would even think twice that it might mean something pertinent to them.
you’re right. with the focus on southsun and that you can only get passion fruit there, they will probably release the sickle before the axe.
the mods seem to have given up moving all the suggestions to the suggestions board.
I do agree with this 110%, but I would rather not see it here.
some things I’ve noticed influence aggro:
-toughness
-burst damage
-proximity
-first to attack
then different mobs handle aggro differently. some will stick with one target (fractal’s mossman), others will switch if another target is more appealing (fractal’s Legendary Dredge Powersuit)
being a mesmer, I’ve also noticed that when a mob has aggro on you, they will attack you over your clones. it’s annoying how they always know it’s you before you even do anything, even if you’re running away.
you get DR in rewards from completing CoF (I’m not talking about loot, I’m talking at the end of the dungeon, where you get tokens, gold, exp). doing another dungeon will not by itself remove this DR, but the other dungeon may take long enough to remove the DR by simple time waited. going and watching a movie would do the same thing.
DR of dungeon rewards is on all dungeons over a period of time. It doesn’t matter which you do or which path, if you complete 3 inside a a short period of time (I think it’s an hour), the 3rd will have DR.
Google translate? Lol
though possible, this is typically not the case. scammers act stupid on purpose, to attract the stupid people, so that they only have to spend their time following up on the scam with someone who is likely to fall for it.
It’s not always easy being a scammer: http://www.419eater.com/ (a group of volunteers that spend part of their time wasting scammers’ time)
I’m not sure how this relates to phishing, as they have a server that just collects emails/passwords. maybe it’s to reduce the number of these sort of responses: email=stupidscammer@getalife.com, password=ihopeyoudie ? imagine getting 10,000 of these and having to sift through and try them to find the real ones.
1) you should NOT have to read a game’s forum to get insight into what to expect in the game. I’d prefer it say on the tooltip for that item something like “high chance at passion fruit/flowers and karka shells, very low chance at minis or anything you are expecting”
2) you did not pay money to get a mini. you paid money to support Anet.
3) You would of been better off selling the gems for gold, then buying off the TP:
Kasmeer=17g = 758.3 gems = $9.52
In fact, you said you still have $20 uninvested in crates. just use that to buy your mini.
