I don’t know about bronze league, but I run with these guys. We want more fights, no question about it. The better we get at the game, the more we want to fight each other. No hard feelings (hurt feelings, sure.) We just want to fight.
I think the meeting points out the Push Week idea was a strategy to keep players entertained so they would stay in the game. Rotated because the commanders have day jobs? Not sure. In the meeting, they seem to be volunteering for a lot of work with everyone pushing at once, to get more people engaged in WvW.
From a player’s perspective, it is a commitment by some of the big guilds and their commanders to regularly lead zergs on a particular server for the week.
I am not a commander, but I think anyone can see how hard it is to run a 40 person mixed pug and guild zerg for 4-6 straight hours. You probably would not want to do that every day.
What the people in the meeting want is big fights and more of them. They say so. These are people who care about WvW more than anyone. They put a (literally) insane amount of effort into the game.
Some of our commanders are starting to use the tag colors pretty well to lead squads within the zerg, for example a specialized front line melee group, stealth/scout/tap group, everybody else group.
Ele’s falling damage trait has the added bonus of producing a field based on attunement, which can be handy. You jump off a wall into a zerg with air attunement, you get instant static field plus a speed boost, or fire field with might, etc.
Ive played ele in WvW for a looooong time but have never thougth about that. could be good when defending to just jump down in front of the gate.
Thanx for this mate
Very useful for support ele in WvW and can be good in PvE also.
I really appreciate the work these guys put into keeping the game fun.
I heard all classes have traits that mitigate falling damage.

I jump off of stuff on purpose and rarely get hurt. I have to fall a long, long way to get killed.
huh. For me, falling damage is minimal and part of my weapons kit. I get a nice blastable field when I take falling damage. Someone dying from falling on the stairs at Anzalias is hilarious, btw.)
Blob doesn’t prevent guild groups from forming. Both can be used together very effectively.
Rewards are a good idea especially if they are tied directly to kills. GW2 players are very motivated by fashionable rewards. It would be great to get more players grinding on killing the other guys. That would provide training and lots of action.
depends on the zerg.
Some of them fight back.
just go ahead and learn to play. Get some players with ego to lead. That’s all it takes.
pretty easy to play wvw if you have some guilds with capable players. You don’t want to keep saying your server has no capable players or guilds.
If your server is too dead for roaming, maybe help build it up.
Probably 80% of TC WvW players have a tag.
TC has improved in WvW in the last 6 months. Got a further boost from some new very enthusiastic and skilled guilds willing to tag and lead.
Right now, there is a mix of people who have been in TC and newcomers, old and new friends, maybe 40 people, chatting and having a blast fighting BG and JQ. Like hanging out in a sports pub. WvW is really fun for us.
40 isn’t really that much, I remember being on TS over a year ago when on SoR and we had 90 per channel, its good to see that TC has commanders tagging up again, as that’s why a lot of us left, internal drama cause by commanders who didn’t tag up, yet wanted to run the show…
I think it was a critical mass factor that changed things. Newly arrived guilds announce themselves by tagging up and getting in voice communications. Players choose the tag they thing sounds best. Guilds unwilling to lead get drowned out. The ‘meta’ or whatever changes. We have a choice of leaders. They learn to cooperate with each other and the players or tag down.
TC is having fun in WvW because we aren’t avoiding it.
I think for a lot of us, WvW is a bridge to PvP. Some of the guilds and leaders are pretty active in PvP. I think a lot of us would like to be up to that level of game.

Using voice communications on an active WvW server highlights how diverse the players are. We have voices from all over the world, all ages, all genders.

Sounds like what happened to WvW is, everyone who wanted to play migrated to the top servers during the tournaments. As a result, the top servers are having a lot of success and fun with WvW, but no one else is.
Servers have risen and fallen. overall numbers are down as the game has bled some folks in the last year. BG is still top dog when they want to be. T2 has a bit more volatility then it used to have. T3,4,and 5 still seem to have their moments. Don’t have an idea about anything below T5. Rangers are decent now.
Tarnished Coast can beat BG now.
We have good guilds and commanders. Our level of play is even improving noticeably week to week. I think we are top WvW server now.

What you need is someone willing to lead.
This part of the game can actually be a lot of fun. To get the party started you need someone with huge confidence in their ability to run the battle. Doesn’t matter if they can or not, only that they are ready to launch into the process.
population in wvw is determined by the commanders.
You have good commanders, you have population. Otherwise, not.
you need strong guilds and guild leaders.
game really doesn’t work well without some strong leaders.
Don’t ask anet to run your guild.
do your own work.
Agwa runs 2800 armor. About 850 healing.
Lots of blasts, in case I need to do my own, which I often do.
yes, I live long. I still run staking runes, so I don’t like to get killed.
I have a zerker d/d ele with about half her gear ascended. She can kill anything in PvE, but her contribution in WvW is mediocre.
On the other hand, my full ascended tanky staff ele makes a significant difference by paying attention to when and where the commander is regrouping during the fight, getting the right water field down and calling it in comms so it can be blasted. Really makes a visible difference, especially if you coordinate with a couple more staff eles. Your team simply doesn’t die.
what would a zerk ele be doing on the back line? You trying to use staff with that build?
we have plenty of rally bait most of the time, thx. : )
What we usually don’t have enough of is well-placed and called water fields. A dead zerk ele isn’t much use for those.
The most important factor in WvW for our server is leadership – the guilds and commanders. A commander with sufficient ego and a few guild members to back him or her up for 3-4 hours makes all the difference. People will gather around a tag with a strong voice and a couple of guildies, your side starts having successes and fun, and everything changes from boring to interesting. It doesn’t matter at all that the map is the same one you always play. That’s actually an advantage.
please don’t bring a zerk ele to a zerg I am in. Thx.
just want to add this ….
rather annoying week on gunnars hold
This must be a problem with your guilds/commanders not being able to draw a following. You need a few big egos to tag up.
With 15 people you, could push them off that siege.
did this in EB for about 30 min yesterday. The commander was using it as a teaching tool. The spawn point gave us a large group of determined enemy coming from one direction that we could work on (actually more of them that us). They did eventually beat us, of course, since they could port back and we couldn’t.
I hope they weren’t demoralized. We didn’t mean to demoralize them, only embarrass their leadership for having let us flip their keep. And farm them a bit.
good learning experience.
Points wasted matter less as you play longer. Go be a silver general or something.
upgrade your gear.
this is Guild Wars. The guilds make the difference.
In T1, it isn’t as many as it sounds like. WvW at that level is exhausting. Commanders are working extremely hard at that level.
It is fun, tho. Real sport.
Not. The devs are actual humans trying to have a good life and make a good living. duh.
in WvW? are you sure? I am interested. I play ele a lot, and I just can’t see that working.
It get’s really hot at 600-900 in a fight. Only so much a d/d ele can do to clear condi and heal. Staff ele with 1200 can do quite a bit, and run away like a … with all the stacks.
oh, not. Ima healing ele most of the time. But I am death from siege, run away.
T1 doesn’t have 40-60 man zergs on every map. We map hop using voice communications.
Really fun, btw. You use the borderlands to try to move the other zergs. Kindof like a portal bomb, except with waypoints.

anybody heard of Dgins?
maybe he wants some new guild to rank up in WvW or something
oh, might be something I heard about. There are some, hum, ungruntulled? commanders taking it out on EotM
ruining the game for other people is being a troll.
cool. we don’t see much of that in my neighborhood but sounds like it could be fun if you can stay out of the way of the four man full ascended funny guys heading past your keep.\
also, just deal. It is about the same scenario as reset. Go rebuild.
it’s easy to be too mean. What seems funny to you may not be funny to the target.
I have been spawn camped many times, but always bounce back in a little while.
People doing this to you may not know you won’t laugh it off and do it to them at your first opportunity.
