i would maybe talk to support about the possibility of un-deleting a character. that might allow you to (tomporarily) delete the character whose name you want to usurp, then have them restored – they presumably would need to be renamed since a character would exist with their old name.

might be able to get it done with just one.

Can necro axe please get attention

Posted by: Narrrz.7532

Narrrz.7532

No, thats my point. Necro axe 1 should be changed to melee. We already have scepter for medium range and with necro axe as it is now, nobody will use it.

Except a power necro wouldn’t want to use a scepter.

I don’t want to use axe, either. Staff is much better, when you consider the multi target/higher DS dmg/high burst of marks 3&4

Axe should hit at least an extra time in its current cast space. Hell, if that’s too much of an overcompensation (for the low damage, i can’t see it…) then just make it a 1-2-3 chain – 2 hits, a third harder hit, and then a final pulse where you ‘rip life force from your target’

would make axe a good weapon for maintaining life force if nothing else.

i thought it would be nice to have a book about all events in LS1 in the Durmand Priory and/or the library in Divinity’s Reach, so when people are interested they can read what happened out of the view of a scholar.
Or you have one NPC in the cities tell you the whole story, when talking to them.
I think it is far easier to make this than make videos with actual voice acting about it, to inform the new or returning players.

That’s actually not a bad idea!

Iunno, reading a book about a game inside the game to find out what’s already happened in the game…

apart from anything else, this game doesn’t have a very good ‘book’ interface built in, and it would be likely a reasonable amount of work to implement one.

The video cutscenes in this game are mostly static images as is, they could do one of those to quickly run through the events of s1, or at least the important bits which the LSS2 ties back into.

of course, i can’t guess how easy or difficult it would be but it would mostly be an art team thing, which maybe? is easier to pull off at this stage of development of the expansion?

Actually, I think BL Salvage kits and their 100% chance to recover upgrades are one of the main reasons the upgrade component market is messed up and I wouldnt mind, if they take them out of the game, along with the upgrade extractor.

Because it made us think about upgrade components as permanently retrievable and reusable and not as a consumable, like it should be.

OK, the BL Kits were introduced to generate gem sales but as you stated, most of the players generate enough of those for their use through drops and login rewards, so i doubt that people actually pay real money for gems to buy them.

In my opinion upgrade components should work like consumables or crafting materials, once you put them on gear, there shouldnt be a 100% chance to retrieve them again.

I even think that the 80% chance of master kits is too high.

The problem there is that upgrades then become the province of the rich & elite. Strength runes are 15g apiece as is; tell me that wouldn’t double, triple or more if people couldn’t retrieve them from armour.

Actually, on that note… those runes would become unable to be found except through mystic forging, which would artificially inflate the price of upgrades across the board. I doubt there’d be anything more lucrative than crafting major or even minor upgrades to sell.

i think that salvage kits should work as they did in gw1, ie giving the option to remove an upgrade rather than retrieving materials. If used this way, the chance to preserve the armor is twice what the chance to preserve the upgrade would be now, so using a masters/mystic kit or better ensures that the armor is not destroyed.

from an economic POV, the balancing factor to this would be that if you’re concerned with preserving the upgrade, you use up charges twice as fast when salvaging gear for materials. depending on what you’re salvaging, this might not be cost-effective.

all existing upgrade extractors should be turned into a permanent one, and everyone who has bought and consumed upgrade extractors should receive the permanent one in the mail. if the number you’ve bought exceeds the gem store cost of the new permanent upgrade extractor (which essentially just pulls out upgrades at no cost or risk), then there should be some kind of compensation/refund proportional to what was spent.

So how will exotic upgrade components be consumed in the future if you can reuse them indefinately? Or we just wait until they flood the market and all of them are at vendor value.

Then we go back to the forums and complain that the unlimited upgrade extractor, which we paid 1000 gems for, is basically worthless because its cheaper to buy the upgrade components at vendor price from the tp.

mmm… you have a point.

perhaps, then, allow a use of the salvage kit to attempt to remove an upgrade at the salvage kit’s return rate but with no risk to the parent item. If you fail to remove the upgrade, it is destroyed.

So you can still burn a black lion salvage kit charge to guarantee an extraction, or take the 50/50 risk of using a mystic/masters (which, while it would be devastating to destroy an upgrade with a failure, would still at least give you the possibility of returning the upgrade)

As a possible fringe benefit, this would potentially chew through a great many of the huge number of black lion kits already out there (i know i for one have one on every character and another one for each of them in my bank; i’ve likely used at least that many in my time since i started playing)

alright, overdramatization, but the champion hylek at Ogotl grounds in Brisban Wildlands used a move which apparently ate me and then, when it spat me back out, left me completely invisible (not even the stealth outline) and able to attack mobs without drawing aggro. This has persisted even after waypointing within the zone.

Edit: fixed by logging out to character select, but highly exploitable regardless.

well remember that:

-you don’t need world completion
-your character isn’t you
-this is all a work of fiction

if you cannot bring yourself to betray your personal values, even in the context of roleplaying a character in a fictitious setting, that may be irreconcilable with your desire for 100% completion. requesting the devs change it is an option, but holds the potentially to impact other players game experience (possibly negatively) and is the first step on the admittedly slippery slope of knee-jerk censorship.

Also, the argument could be made that sweeping all examples of culture destruction under the rug is to dishonor the real cases where culture destruction has occurred.

The Quartz Chrystal Drought

Narrrz.7532

i think people are being a bit shortsighted about this.
There are two scenarios: the former is our present situation.

a) The total available quartz is too little for every account to produce a charged crystal everyday without running through their stockpile or buying to supplement. Quartz is valuable.
b)The total available quartz means that every account can produce a charged crystal every day. Not all do, because of laziness/ignorance/some other reason, but every day someone wishes to charge quartz, they can acquire enough without buying any. Quartz’ value falls to the highest someone is willing to pay to save them the trouble of harvesting it themselves, which will probably be at or barely above vendor value.

Everyone complaining about the shortage of quartz is effectively asking that it be made worthless.

Narrrz.7532

could we please have all crafts in the ‘ectoplasm refinement’ category performable by all crafting disciplines that can go up to 500?

i have every crafting skill maxed out but because of the way i set them up (huntsman/artificer ; weaponsmith/armorsmith ; leatherworker/tailor) i’m unable to do all my ectoplasm refinement on any single character. even if i’d bought the additional crafting license (which didn’t exist when i assigned tradeskills) and gone with the ‘optimal’ setup of weapon/artifice/hunt & tailor/leather/armor i still wouldn’t be able to do this as no armorcrafter can make spirit residue & no weapon crafter can do the weaving thread.

i imagine it’s probably just an oversight that it be unable to be done except by specific unintuitive tradeskill combinations, so i’m hoping this isn’t a suggestion anyone would have any objections to.

Assault Knight Power Core's

Narrrz.7532

Basically I have the tempered spinal blades and I’ve had them for a while, but I’ve wanted to upgrade them to the static assault knight ones, and at the currency price it would cost me 180 gold minimum just for the 10 cores, and this price is going to keep rising…

Yeah, it cost me something like 15g for the first colour, 25ish for the second, and 40 for the final third. i was fortunate enough to be present when the actual event was a thing and even got a few core drops. That final set of tempered blades cost an arm and a leg to get the blades for though…

I agree that there’s no reason for the price to be THIS high. backpieces as a rule are expensive, but as the scarcity of materials grows ever greater, these ones are becoming excessive even by that high standard.

A low drop rate from an isolated instance will preserve the exclusivity without allowing the prices to get (more) ridiculous.

the problem with these traits, as i see it, is that you only want them for a very brief space of time, and then want an easy way to switch them out. Or if you leave them in, it’s because literally nothing else in that trait tier is of any utility at all.

just make it so that falling out of combat causes half damage. leave in things like snowfall runes for people who love jps/etc. Roll the actual skill-trigger-on-taking-fall-damage into some other passive trait – i think i suggested the traits that trigger when your health falls below a certain percentage in another thread.

What To Do With The Tablet

Narrrz.7532

I don’t get people who say “yeah, make it auto-follow”.
Isn’t it exactly opposite of what Tablet is supposed to do?

I mean, you use Will to move it through allies, you can send it somewhere you can hardly step into (like enemy zerg/frontline).

What would be the point of the Tablet if it just auto-followed the Revenant? Then we could just get rid of it and make healing proc in radius around the caster himself…

Sure, Tablet has to auto-summon when you swap to Ventari, sure it should have bigger range and travel much faster, but I like the idea and it seems like most people don’t seem to understand the concept.

every tried skillshotting with a ground target? where you actually need the projectile to pass through the target, not just end at the same point as them?

that skill is simply unworkable in practice. It would make much more sense for it to be an aoe around the revenant, and be able to be traited for a ground target burst. Think the guardians f2 passive with the active now at a target location rather than just in a radius around them.

Silver-fed O'Matic 25% salvaging question

you’re confusing ‘quality’ with ‘rarity’. most items in the game salvage into one particular tier of mats; only level 75+? i believe? have a chance to salvage to a higher, ie, the topmost tier.

t6 mats aren’t considered to be different rarity from t5 (rarer though they may be). They’re simply higher quality. no salvage kit aids with that (yet, to my knowledge)

now, if you were to buy up aetherized metal salvage and post the rate of charged lodestone return, that would be a very interesting piece of information.

i don’t think your mf from other sources is taken into consideration even then, and for all the free mf it offers, silverwastes is awful for item finding simply because event associated mobs cannot drop loot.

What To Do With The Tablet

in Revenant

Posted by: Narrrz.7532

i feel like it should follow you and all its effects should target you. instead of the movement skill, the tablet causes you to emit a pulse of healing, perhaps on a 10sec cooldown and roughly 3x the power of its current passive tick. The ventari elite shatters the tablet for a space of time to increase its heal effect to everything in a huge radius.

Then you can just give us a trait to make all these skilsl ground targeted which causes the tablet to quickly fly there and cast the effect.

The new dailies aren’t too bad in my opinion, except for one thing.

One of my main uses of dailies in the past was to help level my alts. Completing the full daily was a pretty good xp boost, and there were some less large boosts for the individual parts. There doesn’t seem to be any associated xp now. Not a huge issue, but I do find it lackluster.

You get the XP scrolls now which can be used by any character under 80 (gives 5% of a level) or save 20 of them up and buy a Tome of Knowledge from Miyani at the Mystic Forge (or any forge attendant I believe?) which will give you one level.

The xp scrolls are the way to go for levelling. if you’re 0% progress to your next level, they’re exactly equal, scaling down in effectiveness to tome of knowledge being significantly worse when you’re right on the cusp of levelling.

The same principle still applies to pve. The fact that there’s a much larger area isn’t really relevant. You keep talking about the three game types and as if they should all be separate and isolated. We don’t have a daily (the overall daily, not the individual achievements) for PvP, WvW, and PvE; we have one for the entire game. This was what I was saying that you were not getting as you kept referring to PvE in all of your arguments.

I get it that you’re a PvE-only player and prefer to play only that. Unfortunately this restricts you to four achievements by your own choice. You don’t need daily achievements to reward you for playing what you find fun. If you do need daily achievements for this, then I would seriously think about whether what you find fun is actually fun.

So the other game modes should get a daily for the play they find fun, but pve should not?

just making sure of your position.
