It is clear that i cant get through to some of you that keep posting here .
So i will stop trying . .Either you get it . . . or you dont.

Hi, I’m a neutral party to your argument that will give feedback to you.
Because it is against the rules to discuss the punishment Anet gave to you, you then called it a “fictional situation”. That is first problem, since calling it a different name doesn’t make you safe from breaking the rules since yesterday.
In the rules that Cleary gave, it appears that you broken them. I would be thankful you only got 70 hour punishment.
In your arguments, you try to explain you did nothing wrong. But so far, the evidence you provide show that you did break rules, but you just don’t understand the rules. Not understanding the rules doesn’t make you innocent. When I was little, I was in a bakery and started taking bites out of each donut to find the one I wanted. I didn’t know I was doing something bad, but my action got me in trouble. But I learned my lesson. That’s why Anet give you only 70 hour punishment, so you can learn your lesson too.
If you keep fighting with other players on forum who are correct, you can get in trouble. I suggest that you just don’t AFK farm anymore. Press F12 and log out if you need to go away from your computer. Please don’t get mad that you don’t like the rules or punishment.
Last thing. Anet has the right do what they want to your account for any reason. It is in the User Agreement.
Three letters: R N G
No.
HoT elite specs were so detrimental to GW2 (not just PvP) because they have overly strong damage and defense, and that defense covered for a lot of player mistakes. It used to be that you had to avoid burst or big attacks to survive, and people who didn’t were punished for it. Now everything does a lot of damage, so you have to have constant spam defenses. And because of those constant spam defenses, it’s harder to land those powerful attacks, and many are instantly marginalized by automatic defense. To top it off, the bonuses of many HoT elite specs are direct upgrades – no trade-offs at all.
ANet has two options to fix the problem:
1. Big nerfs to HoT elite specs. However, since many HoT elites still have glaring gameplay issues, this may make them too weak. Remember that many were bad during BWEs and had numbers (damage, duration, cooldowns) buffed immensely at launch to cover up lackluster gameplay mechanics.
2. Make at least one core line into an elite spec – probably the one that deals with F# skills like Virtues, Arcane, Illusions, Discipline, etc. This would be accompanied by small nerfs to HoT elite specs and some core traits and potential buffs to that new core elite line. In making that core line mutually exclusive with future elites, ANet has less to worry about with negative interactions, especially with elite spec focus often being on the F# skills.
I reached tier 3 Gold and I don’t have HoT. I think Elite Specs helped bad players become reasonable, but still not good enough. With more options, then the internal meta balance will shift always because there would be too many counters to everything. No one class will be OP anymore. And if Anet will keep allowing casuals to compete in Ranked PvP, at least give them more tools to be useful.
Anet could always just introduce Pay 2 Win items. That would increase sales.
what might save pvp is choosing to support a game mode that isn’t a sideshow in other big pvp games (like league of legends. dominion was widely panned and is only slightly different from gw2 conquest).
…prolly too late
Do you think that Anet was embarrassed from being dropped by ESL, so now they abandoned PvP?
The idea that a human can have god-like powers because of an object is a legit lore theory. But I think in most all cases, the human who gained such power was also transformed physically in some way. A powerful mesmer could create an illusion to cover up this transformation, so I don’t think Queen Jenna doing so is an option we can rule out.
But, ever since Anet writers introduces the idea that a god had his powers reduced due to the Elder Dragons, you can’t deny that with the current lore, other gods could be weakened and be hiding among humans in disguise. Keep in mind that the best way to hide someone’s true identity (in this case a god in human form), is to not allow yourself to show your powers. When Scarlet attack Divinity Reach, Queen Jenna would had to hold back her power from single handedly repel the attack. But with Divinity Reach under attack again by the White Mantle, she had no choice but to use her full powers to protect the city. And even then, only a few people saw her put up the barrier.
As for Lyssa, remember that this goddess is really two beings. Maybe she split herself and one guards the keystone Divinity Reach in, while the other is queen?
I’m just trying to come up with ideas to save PvP. It doesn’t seem like Anet is doing or saying much to help, so us players should step up and give advice.
Step 1 – Change WvW server tier into Division tier (Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze)
Step 2 – Give players MMR based on things like kills, siege built, repairs, objective claiming, etc.
Step 3 – Each week, place individual players into Divisions based on MMR, not server. Top 450 players go into Platinum, next 450 goes into Gold, etc.
Step 4 – 450 players in each Division is randomly assigned to a borderland. 150 players to each.
Step 5 – Repeat changes each week.
Step 6 – Profit
Players must be active in WvW or EotM at least 10 hours of the week to get MMR. If not, they won’t be placed into a Division at the beginning of the next week and be barred from WvW, but not EotM. Player who want to get back into a Division needs to play 10 hours in EotM for the week to get new or updated MMR.
Pros:
1) System encourages activity.
2) Random placement = diverse and fresh challenge.
3) Keeps casuals out of WvW Divisions. That means open field fights will be good fights, and not just players hiding in Towers (hiding in Towers can cause players to lose MMR due to inactivity).
4) Saves players from having to buy Gems to transfer to active servers.
Cons:
1) More skilled/hardcore players would make it too challenging for some. That could lead to less population from rage quitting.
2) No server organization. Also means no more server pride.
3) More activity based WvW means AFK Scout players will suffer from MMR loss.
4) Earning MMR from EotM could lead to MMR manipulation.
5) Less Gem spending on transfers may lead Anet to monetize other WvW aspects to make money. Maybe something like 500 Gems for 1 hour MMR bonus boosters?
Mounted capes? Best of both worlds.
Since it doesn’t seem to be much focus on balance and rebalance of existing skill, do you think more options in Elite Specializations save PvP? For the record, I never purchase HoT, so when I play, I play normal core builds. I do fine with this, but not all players are as good, so they need extra Elite skills to help. If the upcoming expansion brings more Elite Specializations, then PvP devs won’t have to worry about game balance. Players will be able to balance ourselves, since they can swap skills to counter builds they keep dying from! Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock!
I know some players who were ranked high in the charts. But because of the minimum game requirement to stay in the top, some were forced to play extra games. That allowed low skill players to be placed on the team, and created losses.
It can’t be helped. Having a minimum game requirement is good because you can’t sit on one lucky streak, and then take a break for the rest of season. But because matchmaking allows lowlowlow skilled players to fight top players, it turns a fun and competitive game mode into what feel like a grindfest gauntlet of “will I get bad players on my team next match?”. Each game you start to meet the minimum game requirement, you never know if matchmaking will make it fun, or pure kitten.
Regarding 3 and 5
3 – They said they’re working on changes, but can reveal anything yet. But because that takes time, I’m assuming noting will be done before the next season. The current season that ended was horrible for matchmaking solo teams. Next season could improve with some of the many suggestions from this forum.
5 – Sigil update is the only balance that they said they’ve been working on. No mention of actual skill balances, so the meta will continue.
In lore, the gods gave magic in small amounts humans. There used to be giant races, but it was said the gods took away their powers because they had too much magic. With Queen Jenna showing how much power she has, it looks like it exceeds even what Balthazar was capable of.
A level 80 Elemantalist has a max range of 1500 for spells. Queen Jenna cast a barrier that covered a whole city. If that is the case, then the elder dragons would be targetting her as a huge walking battery. But because she’s a god, she can probably conceal her magical energy from the dragons.
You’re mixing so many things I don’t even know where to start;
a) you seem to be talking about the Giganticus Lupicus, and there’s no indication the gods meddled with their magic except through the bloodstones that seeped out less magic than the overwhelming excess of magic Abaddon granted to humans because it caused way too much damage.
b) Jennah already proved how incredibly powerful she has in Edge of Destiny when she created a huge illusion to replicate Kralkatorrik, which made all his minions go away, while simultaneously maintaining a spell on a few hundred charrs and humans that petrified them and made them seem like branded so the Kralkatorrik minions wouldn’t attack them.
c) in-game mechanics have nothing to do with lore. Elementalists have same range/animations/particle effects from level1, your point makes no sense.
a – There more other giant races that had access to powerful magics. I think this was said in the Jotun storyline.
b – Thank you for reminding me about how powerful Queen Jenna is. That is more proof she is not human.
c – With your thinking, then a White Mantle Elementalist should have been able to cast a city wide Meteor Shower if they wanted to destroy Divinity Reach.
Certain things happen in lore to advance story. Charr had a type if ritual that cast Metor Shower on Ascalon, but that doesn’t mean 1 charr was a god. It was titan god power that was used. So it could be said that Queen Jenna “borrowed” Lyssa’s power. But again, the human gods didn’t want humans to have access to so much magic, so Lyssa wouldn’t grant Queen Jenna that much magic. Looking at all things lore, the only explanation for her power is that she’s a god herself.

Queen Jenna’s power can’t be explained legitimately in lore. No human has that much magical powers. The only explanation is that she’s not human, leading me to believe she is a human god in disguise. Mesmers have the power of illusion, so it’s easy for them to trick people. A god mesmer would be more powerful.
Balthazar being weakened follows lore with the elder dragon gods sucking magic power from them when they woke up. That’s why he was so mad at them.
I look at the whole Reddit AMA, and only found two things about PvP. They’re working on changes to group PvP and auto tournaments. I have many questions.
1 – Does that mean solo PvP is going away?
2 – What is an auto tournament?
3 – Because they’re talking about changes, but probably not close to being done, does that mean next season Ranked PvP will be just as bad or worse as this season?
4 – Only one Anet person talked, Ben. So is he the only person working on PvP?
5 – PvP balance is just sigil update?
Now that we know human gods are weaker than they were in GW1, but still have strong magic compared to mortals, this explains who Queen Jenna really is. No human should have magic strong enough to create a barrier around a whole city. If Balthazar can walk among mortals with the help of Lyssa, then she can do it too. I think Queen Jenna is really Lyssa in disguise.
Or Lyssa could have split into her individual selfs, Lyss and Ilya, and Queen Jenna is one of them.
High skilled players know rotations and when not to throw bodies into losing situations. Bad players will die one by one at Home, then run back into the big fight on respawn, only to keep dying. This happens over and over and over and over. These players don’t belong in Gold+ match, let alone be placed on my team.
@GameSlayer
In a match, we can split 2/2/1 and still get all 3 point, so yes it’s not a wrong strategy. Good players who split like this and fail know not to try again because there are good players on other team, so they stick to focus on Home and Mid.
I like that writers are making the story like real life. I don’t have HoT yet, but I watch my cousin stream the story. Having the two girls fight a strong enemy, but still bicker over communication between them mirrors my best friend IRL. My friend and her girlfriend argue over little things like what they need at the market, and do it while stopping the car in the middle of an intersection blocking cars while they shout. I guess it is typical female priorities when they’re together. Cashmere and Marjory is a great addition to GW2!
I thought that the higher you climb, matchmaking will randomly assign much lower rated players with you, because balance?
I was tier 3 Gold, and I face Kratos. He is one of the best in PvP, so I was ok with loss to him. But if I were Bronze, fighting Kratos is laughable. Like spitting into the wind.

Anet needs to do a 180 and force casuals out of Ranked PvP. The terms “Casual” and “Competitive” are opposites.
That’s literally in every game… Your LoL user base wouldn’t the Twitch King in terms of viewership if it wasn’y for casuals. That games Esports wouldn’t be a thing without casuals…
I understand why you’re being so dramatic but let’s not put a torch to the game that’s already losing players.
I remember that you’re one of the better players in PvP. But even you can’t carry bad players 100% of time. Wouldn’t your ranking be better off if casual players weren’t on your team randomly?

Maguuma has so much brotherly love to give, it would be awesome to expand our family with some Asian and European friends. But I think KDR plays role in server population, that’s why we closed. Dominant game play means Anet needs to place handicaps on good servers. Like Mike Tyson fighting a highschool amateur.
PvP needs new team I think. No one should think it’s fun or ok for someone in Silver to face the top players of a competitive ladder randomly. It invites people to leave.
I just looked at the last few pages in the PvP forum. It looks like Anet is more focused on balancing sigils. I don’t think that will save this game mode.

lol man you guys find an other game already do you think anet cares? it’s been 5 years………………
Dude speaks the truth to be honest.
quoting for truth
Maybe they give up and just focus on PvE and new expansion? Or maybe secretly work on GW3 with Unreal Engine?
That is impossible. I think they have outside help, if you know what I mean.
The matchmaker does this because the population is too kitten low, for various reasons.
Until Anet does something that can get a much larger population back to PvP, then matchmaking will always have problems like this.
Anet’s president is too focus on PvE and that’s what he’s good at. He doesn’t have enough experience in PvP games to get that GW2 Ranked needs major changes. But like you said, there isn’t a lot of players because people keep leaving.
Ranked PvP is a snowball going downhill. Problems from early seasons made people not happy, so they leave. That lead to new problems with less players. The problem is still bad because MMR isn’t hard reset. Then you have people who use alt account to help their main. Not sure how you prevent that.
It’s similar to when new Living Story comes out with bugs. Anet fixes the bugs, then 10 more show up that break something. It’s one thing that leads to another. I’m scared that PvP will end up just being a side project.
Players are entitled to Legendary weapons, so Mystic Coins should be free to cheap. Like healthcare in America, Anet should subsidize Mystic Coin prices.
Ok. I think Anet sees our complaints about Ranked matchmaking, but don’t understand without visual cues. Now I will help Anet understand where Ranked PvP is broken, and how to fix it. Data charts below show current season matchmaking that Anet thinks is ok, and how it should be next season.
One reason current season is bad is because Anet allows low rank players to play with too high rank. This handicaps high rank players on the same team. Ranked PvP is a competition, and allowing low skilled players on the same team as higher means it’s no longer a competition for one team. It’s a free win for the other. This is not fun.
Next season Ranked can be fixed by blocking Silver players from being matched with Gold+ league until they gain enough MMR to be tier 1 Gold. Bronze and Silver players will play Ranked with each other. Then Gold, Platinum, and Legend will be group in their own MMR spread.
Save it from what?
From low population and empty borderlands.
Continuing on, now why do you think that happens? Before we even propose a solution.
Because everyone transfered to BlackGate.
Let’s assume that’s true. Why do you think so many transferred to BlackGate?
Because it somehow opened when it was already full?
What do you think the motivation was for those people that transferred to Blackgate? How does that motivation relate to your observation of low population?
Because some servers pay players to transfer over with a promise of better quality game play, only to take breaks when strong competition shows up? This drain other server of Commanders to follow. No Commander tag means no one to follow and means no fights.
By putting each server on a color like EotM, then you’ll always have people to play with, and play against. No need to link servers to each other anymore.
I think you messed up the title, it shouldn’t have a question mark at the end.
Wow. That left burn marks on my forehead. You just called out all 300 players in NA PvP.

On the bright side to all this, they did away with clipping!
But they created a wedding chapel in LA. If they can do that, Anet can open the asura schools in every town and allow all races to enroll. Then it’ll be lore. Like Scarlet.
Please merge this with the “we need pom-poms” thread.
So… you ask for schools to enroll in, but what does that mean, exactly? Is there some story there? A new way to earn mastery points? What exactly are you asking for? Or is the real hope just a schoolgirl uniform? If so, why the distraction of schools?
Just like with Wedding Outfit and wedding chapel in LA, it’s for roll-play community.
Does this mean GW3 or expansion confirmed?
I think it would be great if main towns had highschools or universities we could enroll in. Similar to how there are Order of Whipers and Priory, we should be able join these optional schools, and then get access to school exclusive uniforms.
Eliminate all servers matchups. Instead, each server is randomly assigned color. Then when you go into a borderland, you always find fights! No more empty maps!
Too read, didn’t long – Turn WvW into EotM, but use normal BL and EBG.
So EU players cooperate more than NA? You saying that in EU PvP, players rotate and don’t tunnel on the Thief bouncing around off of points? I have doubts solo queue players in EU have that much focus.
I’m from Australia and played on both EU and NA server. From my limited experience, I’ve observed the general standard of player is better on EU. For the time being, I think EU is managing to maintain a decent playerbase, unlike NA where players have left in droves.
The biggest difference I’ve noticed between the two servers is there is less grief/trolling/ragers on EU.
Can only speak from experience FWIW.
I guess I understand. NA PvP is toxic because so many players on Gold/Plat team that don’t belong. But just because Anet puts Silver level players on Gold/Plat teams and cause losses, doesn’t mean Gold/Plat players are bad.
Heavy – Decent looking Gem Store set.
Medium – Boney. Trenchcoat bones.
Light – Probably only armor going to have aura animated between spikes.
I have a friend in Germany that tells me NA is a clownfiesta. I’m not sure what that means, but I’m guessing he’s just trash talking. When I told him the best player in the game is Naru since he’s going to be the God of PvP, he laughed and said in EU, he would be mid tier.
Why is European players better than America in PvP? GW2 is an American game. Is it because all the good NA players moved to different games that EU is dominant now?
New Item – Trading Stall: 5,000 Gems for 24 hour stall in market.
Maybe WvW is like PvP now. There isn’t enough population for competition, so matchmaking range now includes everyone in one pot. Server MMR is +/- 500 points too!
I think Anet needs to bring back actual Guild wars to make game great again. The whole idea this game was built on was guilds fighting each other. Why won’t Anet develop dedicated guild-team based PvP? I mean separate from sPvP. Games like Capture the Flag. Three way King of the Hill. 5 on 5 matches that require different types of strategy. Maybe even some jumping puzzle PvP maps (true King of the Hill you have to climb).
Guild PvP maps would require each of the 5 member team to pull their own weight in different strategic situations. Guard seige equipment, escort builders, gather supply from neutral nodes. This would eliminate teams with good players who can no longer carry a lower skilled player. That in turn keeps skill level competition high.
Also, Anet needs to take away all rewards just for participation. Reward should only go to the best. So the structure would be guilds face each other in normal team v team maps, then after enough wins in a row, they’re placed in a three way King of the Hill. The guild who wins the three way gets the Glorious Chest, and the losers get kicked back to the beginning matches with nothing.
I think I’m 1419 at the moment, what are the chances I’d make top 250? Win rate is about 70% over 200+ games, so I think there’s still a bit left in me before I plateau.
Be careful. Losing streaks hit hard when matchmaking give you bad team.
