Guilds just got a guild WXP booster added. I think for now, guilds are in a good place (bonus boosters wise). Albeit a guild WXP banner would be awesome somewhere down the line.

You must be in a pve/pvx guild lol
Guilds are most certainly not in a good place, which is probably why Anet recently mentioned an incoming Guild CDI. . .
There should definitely be WxP Banners added, & quite frankly, the new guild buff is extremely difficult for small/medium sized guilds to obtain. And if they did obtain it, it certainly wouldn’t be able to be used with any real regularity.
Guild Buffs need a complete overhaul imo. Almost every single one of them.

I believe that EOTM was a test for their megaserver and way to alleviate the queue problem in T1 servers. As for it being a karma train, better there than on our BLs.

This^^
And please, leave it alone. Not only are there epic zerg fights there, but it’s actually one of the best ways in this game to make money/get loot.
This is one place that I hope avoids the nerf hammer.

Suggestion: LA Individual Servers

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Naz.2607

Naz.2607

Don’t know if this has been suggested yet but, I think a somewhat acceptable solution to this megaserver business would be:
When LA is rebuilt, keep LA as the only place (aside from wvw) that is split by servers.

I would greatly appreciate having my own server environment back again, along with the ability to recruit & rally troops for wvw, & not have to share ‘home bases’ with my ‘enemies’.
I now barely use map chat at all :/
Oh & btw, less gold seller spammers in LA would be a nice result to this….

Look, I’m feeling pretty discouraged with where World Vs. World is right now.

I think it would be beneficial for Anet and the WvW community if a road map of future content was added, rather than random replies hinting at things they would like to do in the future.

Give players something to hope for, because I’m running on fumes and I need some fuel to keep me in the game.

I would very much appreciate this. +1

[Suggestion] Booster Merchant

I know there’s plenty of us out there that have an untold amount of Speed/Armor/Experience/Strength etc Boosters in their bank.

I propose an exchange merchant for these items, where you can trade X amount of one type of booster, for a different, more desired type of booster.

Honestly, I am never going to use 19 Speed Boosters or 15 Killstreak Boosters…. ever >.>
I realize some of the boosters have been removed from the game but, there’s still 8 different types left.

Only a WvW player will build a ram in the middle of nowhere to worship it

Or, as another player once posted in a discussion about the difficulties of teaching noobs to WvW-

Give a man a ram, and he’ll deploy it on a road.
Teach a man to ram, and… well sometimes he’ll still deploy it on a road, but at least now he paid for the ram and not you.

MegaServers Inadvertantly Hurts WvW

in WvW

Posted by: Naz.2607

Naz.2607

So as an avid WvW player I seriously dread the new megaserver addition. They have openly said there will be no more separate worlds in PvE/PvP anymore.

Well you may ask, they are leaving WvW alone so how does this hurt you?

It hurts WvW because they are tearing down server identity in all other game modes which is where we have to draw from to get new players. If there is no longer a server identity except for in WvW, there is no reason for someone to play WvW who isn’t already into it right now.

By destroying the server identity you break the pride that people have in their server. It’s like being from a country. You may not realize it, but you are loyal to your country just because it is what you inherently belong to. If someone insults/assualts your country you feel obligated to defend it. But if your country is just some label that you are sorted on just like a social security number, then you really feel no affinity to it at all.

I see this as being a huge downslide for WvW as people will lose that sense of pride that makes them want to fight for the betterment of their server. It becomes just some abstract label now that doesn’t really mean anything.

This change is so destructive that do the very few pros really outweigh all of the cons? I thought we want to build community, not destroy it…

I think this is a great point

Server Wide Chat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Naz.2607

Naz.2607

Server Wide Chat
I would like to propose something I came across in one of the megaserver feedback threads.

Please don’t merge this devs. It is it’s own separate thing.

New chat mode, “Server Chat”. Will function the same as the others within the chat box options.

Pros:
~An additional way to tie the community together & promote a server community feel.
~Accessible anywhere in the world, including wvw.
~In pve, it would make the world not feel so lonely and desolate. (let’s face it, even with megaserver, there will still be certain zones that are mostly empty)
~For those that like their peace and quiet while they’re gaming/roaming, they simply tick the box next to “server chat” & make it go away.
~Easier to ask for help & actually get it, with more personally challenging parts of the game. (there are a lot of ppl who would actually wp somewhere right away to help someone with something if they new the need was there)
~Much faster notification of world events instead of – having to ask through guild chat (if you are even in a guild), if someone that is in ‘LA’ could let everyone know in mapchat that said event is going on or about to start. (same applies to f list)
~Easier to find people/events/commanders through conversation instead of clogging up your friends list even more than it already may be.
~Adds the ability for gw2 to create server-wide notifications for mega events & possible pre’s, or w/e else they want to use it for.
~Creates much more opportunity for trading between players.
~WvW, PvE, PvX, GvG guilds would be able to recruit world wide almost effortlessly.
~While in wvw, it would allow us to ask for reinforcements w/o having to actually leave wvw to do so. (or go through the guild/f list chat chain & hope for the best)
~Provides additional entertainment value anywhere in the world, if desired.

Also, if this were to be implemented fully, it would be helpful if there was a slight shade differential in the color to immediately separate wvw requests, from pve chat. Just a slight shade/color difference so that it’s not obnoxious.

Cons
~impossible with coding?
~impossible to factor in wvw with coding?
~impossible with coding in a megaserver environment?

Concerning the megaserver implementation, this could be epicly helpful since a large amount of the complaints are directed toward ‘server communities being ruined’, as well as, wvw tactics being eavesdropped on by enemies.

Additional separate suggestion:
Server Wide Chat for WvW. Akin to Team Chat, operates across all 5 maps.

I think a lot of people in this thread are probably lacking perspective on the what and why of this change. This is most assuredly ANet devs making the best on what is probably a cost cutting measure to try and save money on servers that are up for empty maps.

Based on the way this is affecting waypoints/dungeons/temples I would assume that this is a change that is happening more quickly than the devs were prepared for.

I agree that this has to do with money. Which means there may be no way we can make them change their minds about it so, we need to focus on qol tweaks and getting our voices heard about them.

Some suggestions so far have been:
Server wide chat channel OR don’t apply megaserver to the central hub
Reduce WP costs while w/in a map
Do not implement mega boss schedule

Just those alone cover a multitude of complaints, although not all.
Personally, I love the idea of server wide chat channel no matter what happens

Sorry if this has been said but…
My Guildleader pointed out to me that this MegaServer system could make it hard for us to recruit new members on our server and as someone said on this thread, ‘It will be hard to recruit WvW players’. I hoped then that the last Blog would be about open a Global Server channel where people can talk with their server, to anywone on your server who has ServerGlobal chat activated.

If they are determined to take over the cities with megaserver, then this becomes an absolute necessity.
It’s a wonderful idea in the first place. Would tie the community together even better if they were able to participate in general server conversation from any area in Tyria, as well as, wvw.
In pve, it would make the world not feel so lonely and desolate.
In wvw, it would allow us to ask for reinforcements w/o having to leave wvw to do so, & also provide possible additional entertainment.
For those that like their peace and quiet while they’re gaming, they simply tick the box next to “server chat” & make it go away.
In addition, WvW, PvE, PvX, GvG guilds would be able to recruit much easier.
Also, if this were to be implemented fully, it would be helpful if there was a slight shade differential in the color to immediately separate wvw requests, from pve chat. Just a slight shade/color difference so that it’s not obnoxious.

As a friend pointed out, with this Megaserver being used in the towns, how are servers going to coordinate WvW Zergs without tipping off the other servers?
This Megaserver is making it where servers can’t rally players for surprise attacks in WvW.

This bothers me a lot

I’m quite sure the mega server idea is not synchronous with ESO’s release by accident. They are implementing this for marketing purposes, just as the rest of the new “features” are for new players and concerns much less their long-term players who are all geared up.

If this is the case, then I doubt they will listen to our requests for changes. Which also bothers me a lot

GW need 3 things :
GvG and Guild Halls
New WvW maps
New PvE zones

It is true that these are the top 3 things that ppl have been asking for in gw2 for a year now. (eotm is not a ‘real’ wvw map)
New maps, no explanation necessary
GvG zone. I do not personally participate in gvg but, so many ppl have been screaming for this for so long, it doesn’t make sense to not have given it to them yet. Also, Anet could then claim that they have FOUR different game modes to offer in 1 game. OS was hastily implemented as a temp fix & is not a desirable situation for gvg, hence it doesn’t get used.
It would also be nice for the rest of us straight up wvw’ers to not have gvg’s queueing up our maps. Would really just be a win/win/win.

Were there ever any complaints that there were just too many chances in a day to kill Teq? Did anyone ever post that it would be really swell if we couldn’t get any information at all about what was going on in the world from the map? How many communities said they were a-o-k with it being more difficult to get their large guild together in one place because the zones had become a melding pot? And finally, I don’t recall seeing the public outcry for guilds to be able to kick off world bosses in a public zone where they actually have no possible way to ensure they can get enough of their own members there to organize it because there might be 20 people in the instance somewhere AFK at the bottom of a lake.

I know you all worked kitten this. And are pretty proud of its capabilities. But you have your customers here pretty much begging you to not do this because of the detriment it will be to the many different communities they make up and the things in the game they enjoy. These changes are hurting exponentially more people they are going to benefit.

Again, the fact it takes twice as much to travel and two loading screens just to know if you can go to the place you want to go or do the thing you want to do should be a GIANT indication that this is on a horribly wrong path.

A lot of low/mid hearts have a requirement of “kill centaurs or spiders etc” by forcing everyone into the same zones you get a pile of 80’s one shotting everything while doing map completion while the new players can’t tag. I’m now mapping for the 4th time (at this point as a goodbye to the game) and i’m hitting this issue in a few places since i switched to TC and frankly, its annoying.
Organising teq etc is going to be much, much worse as now you’re literally trapped with every peanut in there doing mapping/harvesting.
Ori prices and mats are going to spike freaking hardcore, you’re literally imposing a scarcity – its 4.5 silver a nugget now and thats WITH people farming every node every day, when they can’t find the nodes – hello unnattainable ore. (salvaging is not exactly guaranteed) twilights going to be a hell kitten to craft now.
The waypoint fiasco is an absolute killer for me I check the temples etc to see if they’re uncontested for mapping/karma purchases/skillpoints in orr. Yay, you screwed that up too..

An extremely simple short-term fix until they can come up with something better would be to allow players to see their guildmates on the map as dots of a different color than what is currently used (orange perhaps?)

I’ve experienced a short-lived bug in WvW whereby I can see enemies as red dots on the map. So somewhere in the game’s code there already exists this capability of displaying players on the mini-map using a different color. Just apply it to guild members. That, alone, would make a huge difference.

I would love this feature lol

A nice quickfix would be disabling Shadow Refuge upon entering wvw.

That still leaves the thief with 2 actual stealth skills which will continue to provide an advantage along side: regen traiting, the Critical Strikes trait line, Last Refuge & Instinctual Response traits, and with ‘running away’.
However, it will take care of the perma-stealth & reduce ‘unable to target’ issues.
If this were to be done, (and I know it won’t), Reveal could be removed altogether.

Keeping up with this thread since it started & it seems to be around 80% negative feedback so far.
It seems to only be benefiting the low pop servers & screwing e1 else.
(And still not helping small/medium sized guilds at all.)

I totally understand the need to help the low pop servers in some way, however, alienating 80% of your player base to do that isn’t really a smart business model.
I was never one that would have voted for consolidating servers before but, now…. I think that may be the way it should have gone.

I believe that ncsoft’s concern is that publicly admitting that consolidation is necessary due to a decline in player base is decidedly not good for their image or their pocketbooks. But, this may turn out even worse for them in the long run.
They should have just spun some fancy words or come up with some other ‘public’ excuse for consolidation.

Having been slowly losing interest in the game over the last few months, I was getting super exited for this update… until this ‘big reveal’.

The ‘set’ world boss schedule
The blow to server identity & pride (& some level of privacy)
The kick in the pants to guilds like TTS (for example)
The cut in gold from champ bags, double waypointing etc (which is NOT balanced by removing repair costs)
The fact that u will have to dbl load into some maps
The destruction of World Boss Train
The impact on Role Playing servers
The impact on Guild Recruiting
The impact on asking for WvW help in ‘LA’
Still no new guild missions for smaller guilds who will potentially never be able to unlock the new guild perk
Randomized nodes which will impact the market intensely AND take away a viable & enjoyable way to make gold & collect needed mats for a portion of the population
….and I’m sure I’ve missed some

Anet/ncsoft, please consider this large amount of negative feedback & make the tweaks necessary to make the majority of your player base happy. Do Not go through with this full-speed-ahead as it stands!

Dear ArenaNet,

You have given us a lot of new information on changes. Literally, dozens of new aspects we can discuss. But we have to discuss all of them in a single thread. This is not conducive to an intelligent conversation. This only promotes one-and-out whining.

I already asked for suggestions to fix what I feel could be a significant new waypoint problem, but you closed the thread. So now I ask the same thing here. But note, rather than answer me, you will find a lot of responses that are ignoring my request to reiterate what they like/dislike/hate about other unrelated changes.

If you actually want a discussion, let us discuss the separate changes separately.

So in the Economics blog, JS said he balanced the removal of repair costs with a reduction in champ payouts. Will anything be done to balance the cost of increased waypoint usage, reduced access to events (and their rewards), and less efficient harvesting? Seems like characters will necessarily be poorer in the new megaserver system.

  • Gathering nodes are still randomized on every map instance.

To the people complaining about this. You were exploiting the fact that you could know the node routes and thus get the same nodes on multiple characters. I understand that you’re upset they’ve removed the exploit, but it’s good for the game overall.

Different people have different preferred ways of making money in this game.

If it was an exploit, I can 100% guarantee Anet wouldn’t have let it go on for 18 MONTHS.
After purchasing ELEVEN permanent harvesting tools & planning on buying more, you can forget about those gem purchases now anet. No more need.

A few answers:

  • Gathering nodes are still randomized on every map instance.

Gathering is an important part of income for many players, this change now negates it and the use of infinite gathering tools that you sell.

You cannot expect people to run around trying to find these nodes everytime they enter the map if they change locations constantly.

I do not know the impact such a change will have on the economy, but the supply of these gatherable materials will surely plummet when these maps will be affected by your megaserver implantation.

I humbly suggest you try to find a solution to this. Me, being quite an hardcore gatherer for a long time, this change completly kittens me over.

2. You’re randomizing each of the map instance’s resource nodes. Part of what made it worth gathering with multiple characters on a single map was that you’d know where they were. The world of LIVING things is meant to change, Ore, isn’t a living resource. Even the organics are coming from places where they’ve grown already. It’s another immersion break to see trees, flowers, and crops growing one day in a field, and another to find it somewhere else entirely. One randomization per main game reboot is enough

Being a hardcore harvester, I’m quite upset about this aspect. Not only will mat prices skyrocket but, I can see myself playing less, then less & less….

Hate it. And here’s why: I’m part of Attuned, a guild focused on fighting those “Hardcore” mega bosses. While it’s nice we can start the boss whenever we want, it’s terrible that we can no longer commandeer a map for ourselves.

Let me explain. Fights like the Triple Headed Jungle Wurm require coordination by 120~160 people with at least 110 of which in the same teamspeak. To accomplish this, my guild has been guesting to empty servers or forcing an overflow for private use. This ensures that we have only people who we know we can count on in the map and furthermore ensures we can actually accomplish killing the Wurm on a regular basis.

With the changes to the current system, it sounds like there will be no such thing as overflows, and no such thing as “empty maps” to guest to. In this case, it seems impossible to purge our runs of PUGs who are either geared incorrectly or unable/unwilling to follow commander instruction. Thus, this system makes future endeavors at killing the wurm (or any future, more-difficult boss) futile and impossible. Our guild is very dismayed over the fact that there has been no considerations for this situation and are skeptical that when this patch hits we’ll be able to kill wurm at all anymore due to the excessive amount of incompetent PUGs that will always be inside our (now merged) Bloodtide Coast.

While reading this i’d like to puke all over you. People like you are the worst thing which could ever happen to a game!

wow, just wow. What a horrible way to talk to someone in a public format.

Right… where to begin?

I can’t be on twenty four hours a day and I don’t belong to, or want to be forced to join, a large guild that can invoke the world bosses. Also, smaller guilds still struggle with the insane costs for most of these unlocks – we’re already forced to join larger guilds just to play some of the game’s content and access the rewards.

So, I guess I can summarise it with two questions:
1) When will smaller guilds be able to do… anything?
2) Why do I always get the short straw with every update?

I have to agree with this. You guys have added almost nothing for small guilds…

Though we are moving to our new megaserver model in PvE, it’s extremely important to us that we maintain the level of identity and competition in WvW that we’ve established since the release of Guild Wars 2.

It will be difficult to maintain the level of server identity in WvW if we don’t have that identity in important meeting-places outside WvW. Aka, don’t implement the Megaserver in cities, so we can do all-calls, and talk about wvw… as a server.

Bcs it’s much more exiting to fight a real person/people than it is to fight a predictable, computer generated, mob.

Far too long of a thread to read.. but I wonder how it’s going to affect those of us who do orichalcum runs. It sounds like there’s going to be no way to ever have the same amount again. That’s gonna hurt the incomes of people who don’t want to dungeon run all day long.

Not to be mean here, but I’ve played quite a few mmo’s, and I just bought them & tried them. No free trials.
There are literally TONS of gw2 videos and gw2 informational sites out there. (you could get lost for days)
Just doing a little bit of internet research could easily help someone to make a decision on purchasing the game. (as well as these forums)
Whenever they do free trials there is an influx of spam/gold sellers, wvw cheat/spy accounts, & an extra high amount of trolling added to the gamers experience.
I really wish they wouldn’t do it at all.

Tell your friends that GW2 has a lot to offer.
It is, by far, the most graphically pleasing game out there, with a unique combat system, and 3 completely separate game modes to dabble in.
It’s also FREE to play, not p2p or p2w.
