its kinda true tough… i also wanted to unlock elites for my altes to play around with them and even make a few more alts for this exact reason – now im still going to unlock my elite and i will try to enjoy it- but im not gonna do that 10 more times, that would drive me nuts
i have less issues with the amount of armor skins but their quality – sometimes skins are pretty good but other times im wondering if the designer were drunk when they approved on some things…
I also dont have a problem to pay for armors (as long as theyre good) BUT please make armors and not outfits – outfits are stupid since they take any individualization ouf of the game

400 hero points is a lot of points to get when you completed world exploration years ago and had been using the points for crafting since then. I’m not sure how this idea got through QA testing but the pacing is just awful.
Why so many? On top of that exp gain from dungeons and other things seem to be so much lower now =’(
its not a lot of point, its just 40 challenges in the new area… though to be fair there is the issue that some of those challenges require you to unlock certain masteries before you can reach them… that however needs only be done once since its account wide.
what is frustrating tough is a) to find the points b) you dont find out if you have the requirements until you get there c) you have to do the same process for all alts as well
imo the grind would be less awful if you’d only had to do it once for your account and not for every char but even then its just not fun and you know, thats kinda what a game is supposed to be…it shouldnt be work – thats what you get money for, not pay for
im very frustrated because
the maps are stunning
the story is fine
the enemies, weapons, armors – all good to great
but – the pathfinding, complicated maps, hero points and mastery grinding – its incredibly frustrating to me right now….especially cause i feel im running around for 2 hours only to achieve something worth 15 minutes…
and this is really a shame – cause it has so much great and beautiful stuff – but after hours of not finding stuff im ready to throw my keyboard into the screen
It is ABSOLUTLY stunning – congratulations anet…BUT it is very very small…it is smaller then most 1h weapons…. it looks kinda weird on the back of my knight – like a toy weapon… can you maybe increase its size slighty? Cause the staff counterpart isnt so small…
don’t take the QQ posts serious or as a proof that the majority feels the same way as them. I personally LOVE this expac, it’s the best thing that has happened to GW2, so stop your whinig and start playing the game that’s what it’s for. Or don’t play it if that’s what you feel like.
To me complaining about the fact, that you have to play the game in order to progress is so hypocritical. When all we’ve asked for these years were end game progression, and character progression, and now that they are giving them to us, you complain. What’s the next thing gonna be, you start complaining about the golden city being to gold? or the jungle is too green, and that you need a guide to hold your hand rofl…
i dont think thats the point people are making – but the maps are overly complicated so is the way to unlock the hero points – which means it will take an long time to do so – in fact you will have completed most of the expansion before unlocking the elites…but most people -me included- were expecting to PLAY the expansion as the elite not to play the expansion to unlock the elite.
thats probably a personal thing – but i HATE nothing more in games and especially mmos than wayfinding – overly complicated maps with borders everywhere that have me look for the right way for hours – this drives me furious and its just a type of measure to make the game seem longer – but it makes the gameplay a chore for me… and to me this has nothing to do with exploring… and its especially frustrating that when you eventually made it to your location, just to find out you cant unlock it yet…
The way the maps work in gw2 is just not layed out for such a map with several floors – i absolutly dispise the maps… they are beautiful indeed – absolutly – but i cant stand that im running around for 10 hours looking for kitten i should be able to do in 2

it takes way to long and is very frustrating- i want to unlock the elite TO PLAy the new content i dont want to play trhough all of the new content TO UNLOCK the elite and then have nothing to do with it…
IMO the required elite points should be reduced to 200-250…. so that someone who has world completion can unlock the elite immediatly if he/she wants

i just hope most of the hero points in hot are easily reachable and soloable….otherwise it will be quite annoying to get them for al the alts
I have a hard time feeling sorry for people who just don’t pay attention. “Unique” means “one of a kind”. If people have questions about what that means, logic dictates finding out before buying.
To the original poster, I suggest just sucking it up. You made a mistake, and that mistake was preventable. Learn from it and grow.
Or don’t. Whatever. I’m not your parole officer. -Sid
i think that comment is rather stupid – why would unique mean you can only equip one? unique would also indicate there exists only one or you can only buy one – your argumentation holds no water wahtsoever – besides, you can have two legendaries which doesnt make any sense either
cause i didnt know “unique” meant you can only equip one – that should be really clearer…
can i get an exchange or refund or anything for the wasted laurels? cause none of my other chars will ever use the stats of that ascended trinkets…
I tried googling and while i didnt find a solution, i found a lot of people that the same thing happend to…so maybe they should really make that clearer…

You have to unlock everything else before you can unlock an elite. I’m almost 100% sure Anet discussed that at one point or another.
im also 99% sure i have read/heard that
id be okay for a higher hero point cost if they will introduce a new way to collect hero points – such as participating in hot events or the such…but it definatly shouldnt be a huge hassle – because they game should be about having fun not working towards having fun
this is a problem im mentionning for a long time – the issue is simple – the “traditional” animal pets are normed towards a human ranger… besides a norn, charr or even asura (due to their overly large extremities) they seem small…. instead of norming than towards “earth” standards, tyria should have its own standards…. boars in the “old world” (warhammer) also have the size of horses….
guys, i’d already stack up on ghost pepper poppers
agree, imo solar beam should cause burn and the vine surge should cause bleeding (makes thematically a lot of sense, also regarding entangle and it makes functionally a lot of sense for the druid)
shredder gyro could really help engis in fire fields – but for some reason i think its application of burning bolts is bugged…
if at all slick shoes cooldown needs to be reduced since its way to long to be really useful… op – definatly not, never heard – nor do i know anyone who uses it in pvp due to the cooldown
im wondering if i should go rabid or sinister…rabid worked fine, sinister would probably work even better as long as your pet can tank – but i dont wanna craft a sinister just to find out that i need rabid in hot….
im also wondering if rampager is really worth it..yes you have a higher chance for the bleed stack but your giving up on damage…i usually prefer defensive or offensive stat as primary instead of supportive ones (healing power being an exception in some situation) – thoughts?
what i found during my testing
- depending on the pet and only using earth sigil, rabid gear, staff autoattack and the pet – no utility yor weapon swapping i usually got 7-15 stacks of bleeding depending on the pet…
- using axe and potentially dagger i got easily 20-25 stacks with the same limitations
- bristleback is not necessarily the best pet to apply bleeding and i think i would give the edge to the lynx regarding stacks of bleeding and crit chance, tiger is nice too but the fury application is a bit wonky (tiger could be nice on a greatswrod valkyrie build tough)
- the smokescale has a lower condi damage and low crit rate but what is really nice is that it is very tanky which is good as a ranged guy, its autoattack has a bleed and it has a knock down to trigger ancient seeds, and with companions might i could easily – without any effort or further skills get its might to constant 15…
- I agree staff would work better as a condi weapon – there is a staff redux thread which has good ideas
(edited by Nemesis.6938)
well the tiger pet really works well with a ranger gs/lb valkyre build that i usually use
for druid i thought what worked best was a rabid condi bleed build with short bow staff or axe / staff…. i switched between the smoke scale, bristleback and tiger pet…have to say if i use axe i like the tiger but when using ranged i really like the smoke scale…while the bleeding doesnt tick as high, solar beam, short bow, the smokescale skills and companions might – my smoke scale is usually easily in the 15 might stacks range…if you spec into nature magic you can probably go to 25….
I have yet to find a good powre build for druid tough
seems they had to redo the druid so maybe they didnt have a lot of time? but yeah, the way he holds the staff is weird…moreover, i think all the animations – besides the vine skill (which is quite clunky to use tbh) – the animations look pretty lackluster…. skill 1 looks like a placeholder, 2 is just boring and VERY simple, 3 as well…. and the avatar form looks pretty “cheap” as well…. rather turn him into a celestial bear lol
thats how a solar beam should look like ^^
http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20150121222632/pokemon/images/2/25/Ash_Sceptile_Solar_Beam.png
i think staff skills need to be overhauled and some condi added… astral force generation i agree with you, but i also wished there were more synergies in the traitline with existing traits and with the pet…
i agree that it needs to become more diverse…add damaging and conditioning abilities to the staff, overhaul astral gain and increase existing trait and pet synergies and i think this thing will work out fine
has anyone tried sinister instead of rabid….?
I am thinking of rabid or sinister for the damage build and apothecary for the support/healing build….
Because it wasn’t ready, they totally redesigned it not long ago to not include the aspects part that was datamined. It just took too long to get it to a decent place and felt weird, so they went back to the drawing board. Well, makes sense to me.
its a real shame, aspects sounded really cool and thematically fitting….astral form is thematically and lookwise very underwhelming
Why was the most radical departure of elite specs “The Druid” saved for the last BWE and therefore given the least amount of testing time ?
for the very simple reason that they f’d up there original plan along the way and had to quickly put something else together – thats why the druid didnt release in the normal order of things…at least i assume so, also looking at the rather subpar animations
minor thing and maybe its just me, but i think the eyes on all the “non-normal-animal” pets look really weird and not like eyes of a living creature…
i dont really get why they put a bleed on the smoke scale
i was hoping for a more easy straight forward damage elite with a shorter cooldown such as the warrior headbutt….to make use of effects that trigger off of elites more….all the engi elites are very situational…
- rocket charge is a bit clunky to use honestly…
- shredder gyro didnt cause any whirl finisher bolts for me regardless of how i tried
- blast gyro – i really dont see its use anywhere…its slow, low damage and the knock back in this form is hadrly useful
honestly, i only think it needs some tweaking
maybe change some staff skills into more damage oriented and add conditions to them (see staff redux thread)
change some traits to make them synergise better with existing builds/traitlines
tweak the numbers, such as damage, healing or astral force generation – i think then well get there
well yeah, pets are not good in dodging condition fields…thats not new unfortunatly and one of the major grimes of the pet community…
i really also like the staff redux thread which i think adds to this discussion as well… the staff should alslo be enhanced with conditions to make it a hybrid condi-power weapon and make it viable in such a druid condi build – this would make a lot of sense imo
Good changes.
Staff should have been a condi/power hybrid since we already have a power (LB) and Condi (SB) ranged weapon. Druid is thematically not about power/direct damage (its more condi imo) and a hybrid weapon would help build diversity.
/signed 100%
I think the Staff needs just that little something extra… Take a look, tell me what you think.
Edit: Updated tooltip
i really like it, the only thing id change is probably exchange the skill 2 for a non healing / damaging skill altogether (probably powerbased) to get some more variety
i’d like to see some conditions added to staff to be honest, cause it fits the druid thematically… i like the ideas of the staff redux thread – maybe burning damage on solar beam and bleeding on the vines…
Or exchange one of the healing skills (skill 2 i’d suggest) for a non-healing damaging skill alltogether since the healing skills are too similar
- Maybe exchange 1 or 2 heal skills for more damage oriented skills on the staff? healing is nice – but some of the skills are too similar imo….
- I’d really like too see condi damage added to staff and potentially one or so more glyphs…there is a good post around where someone reworked traits and staff skills – i think he did a good job…for exmple:
- add burning damage to solar beam
- add bleeding damage to the vines skill
This would also make sense cause the druid is well suited for a condi build…
- Regarding the traits i’d like to see some more synergies with the existing trait lines that open the druid up for more varied builds….its a bit lacking in that department imo…this synergy issue transfers to the pet as well since there is hardly any interpaly
- and last but not least – animations…i think the vine skill which was shown first also in the footage looks very good…the other stuff looks very meh at best…i really looks rather like placeholder graphics than actual animations. The ranger has really cool references to animals with all his skills – why doesnt the druid?
here is the staff redux thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Staff-redux/first#post5567145
Regarding the pets
I do like them for what they are….I agree however that
- knockdown is preferable to knock back on wyvern
- remove the bleed from the smokescale – its not a condi pet and it doesnt make sense imo…if you want to add something, use vulnerability…
(edited by Nemesis.6938)
first nothing does more damage on this class beside Condi which is A/D or A/T and Staff with http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgUG-AJ8A6g~ and utility of Zephyr, Sharpening Stone, Signet of Stone and Entangle. if you don’t believe me then go try it your self and see which one has higher dps, survival cleanse and fast kill.
now for the real problem here. I’ve said this before and I will say this again. me and I know allot of other people out there chose this class for DPS range and not as a healer. we the Rangers are being toyed around and ignored for a long time and this has gone far enough.. this is how I see things in this game, we are the buyer and imagine Ranger as a 2003 Honda that still runs ok. then ANET have this old broken wheels but have cool colors in it and some glitters on the side and present it as a trading Item in exchange of our 2003 Honda. this is always the case and there are allot of players here who are simple minded and took that offer of a worn out shiny wheels with glitters. these people are the who have this childish excuse of “you dont like healers? then dont play it” while missing the fact that YA we don’t like healers thats why we did not roll for guardian and we chose DPS ranger!. I like the new pets but the druid is in no what so ever worth wasting our money for.
what I think should be the changes for Druid?
well. do not make us a healer and give us dps on astral form and change those heals to support buffs or disables or condi just not heals. change the animation of Staff wield and change the effect of those gylphs that can actually be a better option that Wilderness Survival for Survival cd reduct as our cleanser (Astral form have this but not worth it since you will end up as a dummy target due to the fact that you don’t ahve any skills beside heals). this way we won’t be OP but will still feel useful and be able to have fun.
i think youre wasting your time – i’d also wished for a different outcome for druid BUT druid IS a healer and it is supposed to be a healer and will stay a healer – so all comments need to be with that in mind…just upping damage on staff while keeping all the healing skills would make it ridicoulosly overpowerd….you could however exchange one or two of the staff heals fro something more damaging or add at least some damaging abilities (there was a good post here on where someone added condi damage to staff skills that were also thematically sound such as burning for solar beam)…
If you want to drastically increase damage output or something, i think its better served for the ranger discussion itself then the druid….
I do however agree that staff needs some tweaking
achievements not kept - achievem. chests too?

Stupid question but when logging into a new beta character i received my next large achievement chest – on my beta character. My assumption was/is that no achievements are kept – so also this achievement chest is not and the achievement points will be reset after the beta and i will get the chest again? Cause this beta character is deleted and the chest gone but when loggin into my normal characters, its achieved/gone there too…?
I just want to make sure i didnt just loose the chest….
well….i do….im just surprised, that a game who is so userfriendly in so many aspects is so glaringly lacking with something so easy….
Am i the only one who would really appreciate a button/option to organize my bank?
to organize easily regarding item type or soulbound-to?
Or is there a good 3rd party solution i can use?

The chart below shows how the heavier a bird gets, the exponentially larger its wings get to be able to keep it aloft.
http://i.imgur.com/Eeu38dD.jpgJuvenile wyverns look like 2 ton hippopotamuses with webbed toes on their front legs. It’s comically, ridiculously out of balance. Ya ya magic, but does it have to look so friggen goofy?
they are no birds – your logic doesnt apply…they are dragons – they have 1’000’000 the muscle power of birds and the fire they produce in their belly gives them updrift!
I always liked the way it works when npc use their block skill that throws your damage back at you
If you would actually need something like a tank hammer would probably be the thing to go for. Permanent protection definetly beats the meh heals from mace.
I kinda doubt that you will need a tank anyways. Would kinda go against the idea behind the combat system.
well with the recent shield changes (IF they are true as rumored) mace/shield is a good contender…with hammer or staff as an alternative
besides, as you said they always went for damage, support, controll – which I far prefer to the holy trinity…BUT we have seen a pretty healy-healer recently so…
(edited by Nemesis.6938)
wrong time and moment I think..
I strongly believe, these concepts are willingly held back to be implemented first with an expansion that brings us to the far nothern shiver peaks where we have to fight against Jormag together with a strongly Norn related story about shamans where we will be then able to earn them somehow over the course of that expansion.
I think this makes alot more sense, then to put these into the game with HoT now, which is absolutely not connected at all with the Norn… this expüansion is 100% all about only the Sylvari. There has norn content no place in it.
oooh cool…looking forward to it…2019 then? So we are looking forward then to 100% sylvari exclusively themed content and armors…
but that is a valid concern – druid is either obsolete or necessary…in case of the second, i dont follow the strategy of breaking up the meta by creating an ever stronger one
i hope enough people voice their appreciation again and maybe there is a chance they listen this time
I’ve said it way too many times. Either pet needs to go or they need to integrate it better into the new traits/weapons and the F5.
this
I really like Druid as the new Ranger spec. The theme of nature calling and spirit healing really suit the class and give more addition in the gameplay. But one thing is troubling me after I read the article Meet the Druid .
From my experience playing Guild Wars 2 for a year, mainly Ranger, this class is always about the synergies between pet and player. Many weapon and utility skills, even traits, are designed with pet in mind, which make the class more standout from other.
However, Druid is somewhat different, you barely have any synergy with your pet at all ,except only one adept trait. Unlike other traitlines that have 2-3 traits that focus on having pet include into it. It feels more like a new class than Ranger’s elite spec.
tl:dr; Druid really really lack pet interaction that I feel you should just remove pet entirely.
would be nice if it did that… but honestly, looking at the druid skills and animations – i get the VERY strong feeling that the original plan didnt work and they quickly put this together (also why a lot of the animations look rather bland/bad in comparison)… i hope they work on adaptions until/after the beta weekends
