hopefully they align this in a smart way…and not necessarily along pet classes cause withint the same class sometimes a pet is more or less condition based – it would be really annoying if a condition pet got the short end here
I’d rather have Fragmentation Shot count as an explosion and benefit from those traits than gain baseline piercing again. Piercing always functioned a bit oddly on Frag Shot anyway, and it just makes it too similar to Rifle as well. Having it count as an explosion makes it more interesting and creates more synergy with traits.
To be perfectly honest, it was also a bit weird that a single bullet could explode in one target while continuing on to explode in another, and so on out to maximum range.
thats a fair argument from a logic point of view (we have to keep in mind its a fantasy game) – but then MAKE it an explosion when it is even called an explosion! this would also open up a few new build ideas
And if youre add it – improve on skill 2 – if this is too powerful for pvp than simply reduce the spread of the shots in pve so that they hit more often
zealot’s seems nice but i just think the druid traits and glyphs make it work better with a condi build

i know people wanted a ranger class without pet – and altough i dont think there should be one, thats ok but then MAKE the class without pets – if you still keep the pets there should be some synergies with it…
i’d also like to have a druid build that uses a greatsword but so far i cant come up with one, i always come back to conditions with this one…
I like your set up, thinking if wilderness survival could be an interesting alternative to marksmanship

looking out how much seems to be “makeshift” in gw2 regarding classes and how little the devs often seem to know about their own game i have little doubt…i also dont understand why it takes them 2 years to react to loud community complaints – IF at all…no wonder they are loosing their playerbase

What he said, I’m leveling a Necro right now with plans to go Soldiers or Knights with my Reaper to give my self an old fashioned Death Knight.
look into valkyre – it works really well with life force and the crit enhancing traits
now i just have to find a light armor that looks like an armored knight…hmmm
i think they are wasting opportunities when developping stuff that only works in pve or pvp – i understand this is sometimes difficult, but then just make the skills work differently or differently powerful in the two modes – thats better than wasting recources only half the game can use
okay if coated bullets in pvp is considered too strong you could still make them coated in pve – and if that is too strong either (what i dont believe as lets face it, no one uses pistol 1 in pve)
than at least make it an explosive…at the bare minimum that cause in pve, pistol 1 and 2 are just horrible…The main point of all of this is that no auto-attack is intended to be an overly powerful offensive tactic. Because of our hybrid nature, the now Fragmentation Shot, benefits from too many beneficial traits for Coated Bullets to be a realistic possibility. Regardless of such, there has been more than enough research done by members of the community to illustrate the best rotations possible for our DPS outputs and thus exceeding other classes (besides ice bow) as a result of the relatively seamless skill rotations at our disposal. This means that there is no need to dumb down the Engineer by making lazy play more desirable. If anything were to be done at all, I would have to suggest that the bleed duration be improved upon by at least 1s to help improve its role as a DoT based weapon. We have enough on demand aoe bleed application, with more to come from mortar, that a piercing target pistol is going to be received as overkill IF made baseline; trait competition would be required for this to be fair by merging with Heavy Armor Exploit.

there should NOT be any useless skill in the game that no one uses ever – if that is the case either kick the skill out at all or alter it – because like this its just a waste of a skill slot, a waste of an animation and a waste of resources

well in the skill description it explicitly says not knockback, otherwise they just could have said “disabled” no?
Sometimes im kinda wondering, the devs so often misspeak, confuse things and stuff doesnt work as advertised or has bugs – do these guys even know what they want to do, know the game mechanics and test the stuff? Don’t want to sound rude but sometimes im really wondering if some of the devs know their own game…
This profession is officially dead, this is no exaggeration, with the upcoming elite specs Guardians are now 100% worthless.
These are all very reasonable changes. We got shield buffs that’s we have been asking for forever and anyone with their head in the right place can see why FMW is getting increased CD. How anyone can see fit to QQ about this … must be wanting to sabotage any attempt Anet has to changing the class.
Granted … if they didn’t tell us ALL the changes that will happen, we might see some things that aren’t as reasonable but we can only wait until that happens to complain.
i agree, i can see the fmw increase and always wondered why the cooldown was so low…id probably uped it to 40 instead of 45 tough…but thats iteration…you could also add something to the skill like a stun break which i think would be fitting
I am still not happy with smite from scepter tough which i absolutly think should be a symbol more than anything
I am also not 100% sure about the reduced protection duration on shield 4 as other classes and elites have a very easy time to apply long term protection…
People complain about not being able to keep enemies in they’re symbols and that guardian doesn’t have mobility. What do they do? They ask for symbols on Sword which is our last tool that comes close to any sort of mobility. Logic at it’s finest on the guardian forum. I’m speechless.
making it a symbol doesnt necessarily change the mechanics – besides, people foremost ask about smite being a symbol – which is a) in the symbol traitline (stupid design at its finest) and b) is stationary anyway and absolutly perfet for a simbol… if need be nerf the damage 10% or something – it would still make 100% sense mechanically

i dont think lb4 works with ancient seeds as it is a knock back and no knock down?
You could use a greatsword…tough im wondering if this could even work better on a condition build with a shortbow as it gives you more bleeds and dazes
im thinking abut a zealots build but couldnt come up with a good one so far…but id like to make one some day lol
This is made doubly funny as Staff and celestial form basically serve the same function (spamming out heals) so taking both compunds the lack of diversity in what Druid can offer.
thats also my concern…would have preferred if there was a bit more variety away from healing on the weapon skills…

I would say no. Knockbacks, while interrupting, don’t really put you in a CCed status. Launch does, knocdown does, daze and stun does. There are still plenty of ways to trigger this:
- GS #5
- SB #5
- Spike Trap
- Daze Glyph (AoE)
- Astral Form #3 (AoE)
- Various pet CCs (dogs, new wyvern, …)
Especially with glyphes it will be easy to trigger it on multiple targets. Seems very strong/annoying for the opponent on only 10s ICD.
Btw we have a lightning field on the wyvern f2 which allows us to leap daze. Just that electro wyvern can trigger that kitten pretty often.
true tough i think its especially useful for condition builds and there, the bristleback? seems to become the pet of choice
the whole druid skill look a lot like “plan B” to be honest

going away from the healing healing and always healing, i think i see some interesting possibilities for a condi build with the daze-root-bleet trait and a Bristleback pet
just wondering if i can come up with a good power build, i’d love a greatsword wielding druid
will these new pet also be clustered in classes? tiger – feline, Bristleback – dinosaur, wyvern – dragon, Smokescale – i dunno, mytical beast
still think there are some really nice pets in the “old world” that could be added…

It may be amazing, but it’s not what I expected. Those shoulders with animals and staff created some expectations about either plant-magic (like Entangle), or some animal forms/aspects/claw kits, but not about being a shiny transparent fairy. My ranger is Norn female, but now I’m thinking maybe I should make a sylvari… but I have a sylvari guardian.
Since I’ve done my share of healing in another game, I’m not opposed to healing, only to visual theme. At least it’s not clicking on green rectangles.
The leaked trait that referenced Aspects makes me think they ended up redoing the whole thing at the last moment and went with what fit the heal spam theme.
The shoulder pads and tree staff definitely do not match the celestial theme.
i have the same impression that what they were going for initially didnt work thats why they reworked a lot – that would also explain why the animations are mostly very “simplistic”.
i believe the changes when i see them – in the past other changes have been promissed in live streams by over excited devs and were never implemented
I find it funny that the rest of the profs are freaking out about our spec and were just all like “Eww Healing”.
Speak for yourself, i’m beyond ecstatic that the focus of Druid is healing and support.
its not the problem per se that hes good at healing, the problem is that hes the super duper uber healer and that makes him either entirely useless in pve or absolutly required making other classes useless in the process – and this just seems a really bad way to change the meta by creating another new one and pushing variety out of the window

I like that we get some exotic pets – they just need to watch that they are not so good that the old pets become useless…
And i still think there are some existing animals which would make great pets and could be implemented – griffons, moose etc.
dont look to much into numbers as these will be adjusted anyway…it is possible the bumped numbers for the presentation so people wouldnt start whining immediatly….
That’s kind of the problem, druid seems so good at healing that unless other classes get a huge buff , healer druids might become required, don’t want to go back to lfg druid 8/10.

this is a HUGE nerf in pve – and made shield from pretty useless to absolutly useless
I am not sure about the druid…i dont think it is “bad” regarding efficiency, i rather think it it is “bad” regarding the whole class focus and mechanics because
1) healing, some more healing, a bit healing on top of that followed by more healing – okay we get it…could have put a few more things in there
2) Since the druid is so heavily focused on healing, this means it is either not necessary and useless in pve or EVERY group will have to have a druid…going away from zerker meta to “you have to have a druid” meta which…
3) brings us to point 3 – making the guardian or other heal classes incredibly pale and useless in comparison – congratz u made a class useful at the cost of another
4) I dont see any synergies with the pet… if this is still a pet class and you want it to have and use a pet and BUILD SYNERGIES IN
5) Moreover, i dont see a lot of synergies with existing traitlines…
I dont know, looking at the scrapper it fits into the engi and the existing stuff wonderfully….looking at the druid it feels like a completly new class instead of an elite and like one that doesnt fit into the existing game mechanics at all…
AND – yes, the animations are REALLY bad…the skills which the roots that was shown in the first trails looks good…pretty much everything else looks horrible – especially the transformation (is that a joke?)…. we have wonderful norn shapeshifting animations and than you come with that cheap kitten transformation? GW2 has always been the game with some of the best animations in the mmo space – but this?
The class really feels to me that what they wanted to make didnt work so they had to scrap something together very hastely…shame

i think besides the skill that was shown already in the first hot trailer all the druid skills look really cheap and bad to be honest – ESPECIALLY the transformation…that looks like what they planned didnt work so they had to quickly throw something together…
we do have awesome animal transformations already in place but this is just bad…
Oh and if ur at it and change smite into a symbol can u please change the animation too, cause its horrible
Thats my only wish for guardian actually, make smite a symbol and make the animation look good and overhaul and improve the shield skills, than im 100% happy

i personally feel that pretty much every primary weapon should have a simbol…
especially smite should be a simbol, a feel shield of absorption could be a simbol too
I dont know why nobody has realized this yet.
If you think about it, all other classes’ elite specs. are a unique class that is not found in other MMO’s. But Druid is common in other MMO’s
So it makes sense that Druid will be its own new class, and Ranger will get some other elite spec.

mechanicwise yeah i think group regeneration / renewal would be nice or group fury…both would fit well
and if shapeshifting i like to see attacks that benefit the group and lots of synergies between the pet and the druid while in beast form
and i want griffons, moose and others as pets
I revised my spec to this :
As last time i used rifle as a place holder for hammer, and used a thumper turret in place for a scrapper gyro, also third trait line not in link is scrapper , again with recovery matrix/mass momentum/adaptive armor. It will easily still stack 25 might without using might stacking runes, instead used bal runes it and the thing is wrong flame jet burning is 5 1/4 duration, and removed juggernaut and replaced it with incendiary powder which is 8 secs duration. it can stack 25 stacks of might and will hold on average 4 stacks of burning with bursts upto 15 stacks of burning. really excited about these changes because the damage is like 2350 direct damage/2248 burning off a single flame jet. that is with scrapper traits. also the shredder gyro will be great for napalm+ shredder gyro combo. they have the same length with there cds and almost the same duration too
i personally rather use pistols for a condition build…id probably use the shredder gyro for the whirls in combination with a flame fuild
bombs, grenades and elixir gun are usually well additions to a condition build
i think rifle has still really useful and well balanced skills
pistol on the other hand…not a big fan
