What is the general consense when you go flamethrower – rather power or rather condi damage wheb you go for a more defensive build like knight or dire? The new trait that buffs power based on toughness seems to benefit more the power approach?

The druid can knit its own clothing out of leaves and spider silk…. besides that i think the druid will be focused on buffs and heals with a focus on fury and or swiftness
Maybe healing power will be more important to the druid
Lot of stuff nowadays has to be crafted or farmed and u can only buy the receipt
Druids also get a spell that turns everyone around them into a vegetarian…its especially deadly for charr

Proble is it would exclude a lot of small pets…what about them? I think its very unlikely as it would start a lot of issues regarding animations and hitboxes

you could alter pets into spirit version or something or make them work like spirit weaons – that is a possibility…but it wont happen
we already “know” through datamining that druids will have aspects – the background picture confirms that…so its very likely you will swap your aspects for skills or buffs for you or your pet…what we dont know yet is the new utility mechnanic group and the skills…
if you ask me i’d rather have a shapeshifting melee brawler to make use of the fantastic shape shift animations – but nobody asks me
It is an interesting question tough as all future elites will have to incorporate nature and pets somehow….therefore im already looking forward to my hammer wielding shaman with his totem in 2016
Maybe they get eychanged for a spirit version of the pet pr something…but they need to have pets cause there are simply too many skills and traits that involve pets….
charr technology looks horrible…it looks good in the artworks but in the game it looks way to modern…it should look like warhammer dwarf or empire tech…that would look much better and much more period/world fitting…but well
honestly the only thing that annoys me is the elite – not because i necessarily think its super bad, i just wished we get FOR ONCE a “normal” straight forward elite skill with a short cooldown to make use of runes that proc from elites…
i personally think depending on the class it is either an extra or a plus – it really depends on the build/spec….some have great synergies with existing builds and are a plus…
i HOPE anet will introduce new elites for the classes soon and aims for 3 elites per class a year from now – that way it will actually be a CHOICE

Anyone else think that the lore/descriptions around this traitline needs some rethinking with a Hammer Scrapper? They are pretty funny as they stand now.
I mean sure, it’d be fun to have a sharp-shooting, no-scoped, high-calibre, modified-ammunition hammer, I’m just not too sure if it makes much sense.
I actually think firearms may be a popular choice for Scrappers since the two point-blank traits are perfect for melee.
makes all sense…why would you need a scope for a hammer? and a hammer is pretty high calibre if you ask me… modified ammunition you could call modified coating.
keep in mind that groundtargeting will get a new option which lets it work like normal targeting… i think this will make grenade builds more interesting again as well…

for nearly all new specs damage was rather to low intitially – i think this is a simple design philosophy, to rather start a bit too low and then increase it rather then vice verca – because the other way around causes a huge kitten storm all the time….
Only one or two BWE for druids. I cannot wait to see how much of a broken mess they will be during HoT’s release.
If it will be mess on BWE3, that’s only mean that it will be really OP on release and after that with every balance patch will be nerfed to proper state.
As they made with renenant in last BWE2, that it can destroy every class in 1v1 and can win even 1v4
well, constant iteration and rebalancing is part of a multi-class-pvp game…thats to be expected – and it will continue with the hopefully soon-to-be future elites… not worried about that and i honestly cant understand people that complain about that process – cause the alternative would be a very boring formulaic game with very limited options

druids can shape shift in pretty much any lore i can think of – blizzard, dnd, lord of the rings…sure anet doesnt need to follow that tradition, but if druid is based around shapeshifting and nature magic, i see really nice synergy options with the existing beast mastery and nature trait lines and with your pet…. so i think it would make a lot of sense cause
- you want synergies with existing trait lines
- you want more support/heal/tankiness as the ranger doesnt have that
- you want cool
you get all that
of course, shapeshifing into a honey badger could be another option – cause honey badger doesnt take kitten from anyone
I like the specialization of the guardian, just adjust the numbers and fix bugs and its going to be great
also note that its probably the vocal minority that complain, you can find similar threads in any class subforum
hmm but with most elites, people complain about certain aspects of the elite such as the engis gyros – with dh i think its really a lot of people that dont like the elite as a whole – or maybe thats my subjective impression…. i can just say for myself, i also play guardian and i dont see myself ever using dh over my current builds.
its funny that the only good shield skills are on the engi which is the least “shield” like class….
but yeah, shield needs some love – that i never ever see anyone outside of engis use a shield should be some indication that nearly no one likes them
the druid reveal has been postponned because this elite is so breathtakingly awesome, so great, with so many skills, so many options, so much excitment, that they really needed a con to present it! Its gonna be glorious – fasten your seatbelts!
hammer skills are too slow for me – even if they might be balanced like this, its just really boring… if at least not ALL hammer skills were that boring… i think a bit of a mix up would be good with the hammer tbh…
flamethrower with firearms + elixir + either inventions or even better the new scrapper and probably knights gear and strenght sigils/runes…
my problem with dh is more that there is hardly any synergy with other traits or builds – valor synergizes well with honor for support/healer builds, radiance fits well with zeal for damage/burn builds, virtures fit well with everything – but dragonhunter doenst fit well anywhere except for pure dh builds…
i dont see anyone ever using dh stuff without building the build/character as a pure dragonhunter… i think thats a real shame cause it really limits the elite – especially as long as there is only one elite…
there are other elites that synergies quite well for all kinds of build – the scrapper is a good example where i see synergies with ft, with condi builds, with pure scrapper builds etc…. i think thats the better way to go honestly.
I mean i really tried coming up with incorporating dh into another build but its just always inferior to other stuff i could take as long as i dont put the dh into the center of my build.

the whirly gyro could be interesting to stack vulnerability fast or especially for condi builds to stack burning fast – if you place a fire field and then use the whirly gyro and the hammer whirl, u should stack a lot of burning…. if i use the gs whirl in my fire field on guardian i stack 10+ stacks of burning
what im wondering tough – when the first expansion takes 3 years to develop, how can it be that they are pressed on time?

medic gyro could be interesting on a pve build tough with the water field and 3-4 blast finishers in a row as well as the healing pulses which give you constant protection with the trait
i think it really depens on what you want to do – heal/tank/support id rather choose mace, shield, focus, hammer, staff
for damage i’d rather look into gs, sword, scepter, torch
maybe the ranger could get a shapeshift like a kit – with supports for the group like a weakness houl or a might/stability warcry, healing melee attacks etc…
I think a bear-transformation would be really nice cause a) druids are usually always shapeshifters b) the bear transform looks awesome and a lot of npc use it c) the animations and all is already in the game d) being in beast form could synergise very well with your pet – like the trait that shares boons with your pet and the such
Im kinda confused there is a hammer skin on the release teaser image but in the livestream there was a different hammer skin, which one is the specialization bound skin?
it seems there is an elite hammer skin and another new skin – one is the one from the elite teasers the other one looks like a giant wrench… but didnt anet say there are 60 or so new unique items in hot? guess its one of those….
im just a bit concerned there wont be time for bug fixing and iteration… you need imo 2 beta weekends to get somewhere near ready, first to find initial gaps and the second to test the made improvements and to fine tune…
i like the dredge pulverizer or the new makeshift hammer – they look rustic…
charr cultural 3 is nice too

If indeed your gyros (I kek as I write this because in the UK a ‘gyro’ is another word for a welfare cheque coming through the post from the government lol)… anyway if indeed your gyros are AI-based in the same way the Ranger’s pet is, you guys are going to have to be absolutely savage with your feedback after the BWE because otherwise you’ll not be listened to for 3 years and will be stuck with a broken profession mechanic, especially seeing as, judging by the written reveal, you will have even more limited control over gyros than the current Ranger has over its pet.
On a brighter note… totes jelly that hammer basically makes you guys Thor tho.
i wish ranger would get hammer too and i could play a wow-shaman :-(

stupid question – but i have been wondering for a long time… the stuff on the shoulders and arms are bones…but what are those things on the leg/lower armor part? bones that are placed into the armor or metal pieces? I really dont get it and as said ive been wondering for a long time…
