And dont allow bunkering points for more than 30 seconds, it allows players to gain points through the whole match, and makes it harder for newer players that dont know about this bunkering exploit.

There’s not many old players left in the pvp community of this game, and Oeggs is one of the very few that remain. He knows pretty much all the ins and outs of this game, and really cares about it, so please listen to him. He is basically saying what the whole pvp community has been saying for so long, and showing how desperate we get… its like praying to a god that isn’t there when we beg for balance patches.
Its not about hiring him, or any of the higher ranked old players. Just listen to us, as a colective. We spend most of the day “testing” your game for free, why listen to a test team that probably spends its time testing all the living story events, and rarely jump into pvp if you have top tier pvp testers right here?
I guess im also quite desperate to see this game get better…

This is my pvp necro, and since theyre merging appeareances… well, its my necro.
I would recommend a fearmancer build (30/20/0/0/20) if you want a build that can survive and also deal alot lf damage. Problem is that condi invulnerabilities completely counter condi necro, and good luck trying to peel off or fear away a zerker warrior on berserker stance
If you want a much higher risk, much higher reward build you should go zerker necro and drop thiefs en 2 shots. Very good for corpse dmg too. No one can rez on your wells unless skil rezed. Also, for even higher risk and even higher reward use daggers, not axe.(30/10/0/030)
MM necro is the simplest build. Low risk, low reward (whoever says otherwise either doesnt tpvp much or is dilusional, but hey why should you trust me?) You are bound to the close point, not being able to help in mod fights, and hardly going far point. This is not because you cant, but because 80% of the time the minions will stay in the periphery of the fight without attacking unless activated, wasting the utility. If you do decide to go mid for example you have to go throuh a path where you dont jump or anythi g because the minions wont follow, instead taking the long route…. and when they get there they wont even attack. So because of all this you will have to stay at close point hoping they only send one, since if they zerg you your minions wont last long, and trust me no team wants a close point holder that will stay at close the whole game. The build is (20/0/30/20/0)

I havnt played since saturday morning when I got a dishonorable debuff for Dcing. Now I only log on to see whats the news, whats is the patch stuff and check on my friends. Ive been playing Diablo 3 until another pvp game thats worth it comes out or they fix pvp here.
seriously though, I hate that all the glory and rank i get on the other account is for nothing
Solved the problem, Ill just use the account of one of my many friends who left gw2 when they realized the pvp was not important to the devs

I am talking about Team Arena, where I q with my friends. My friends know why I dc, they understand. It is completely different to a random DCing on your solo arena.
I have been a very active PvPer since prerelease of the game. My electric problems are recent (this week) and random, it has happened in maybe 1/20 matches i have played, but since this is comulative it happened once more today and now I have the debuff.
This debuff doesnt really work, since you have never been able to leave a match (you are forced to enter the match as soon as you log back in), so what people always do is wait in spawn until the match ends.
Now I cant play, and my friends wont play without me, so its ruining the playing experience of several people.
So I got this debuff because I live in a kittenty country where electricity is a luxury and I got blackouts a few times during the week while in a match… I agree that a punishment is needed for leavers, but there must be a way to differentiate between a DC and actually leaving a match (like Teamspeak does).
Now Im stuck outside of pvp during the only day off I have… Seriously the population is low as it is, make this debuff a bit shorter, 27hrs is too long. I have 4.7k games played, and have been in competitive pvp in this game pretty much since release. Im not a kittening dishounorable leaver.
I really liked this game when it came out… gonna do some WvW before wildstar comes out I guess. You made some really bad choices with your PvP anet, but I know you had good intentions. Your pve is good, I guess you cant be good at everything.

i am aware that its NCsoft, and hope that all the resources that are lacking in GW2 have gone to Wildstar. Maybe thats why we are getting so little. Well see when its released. Im hoping for all of the good things in GW2 with a little of “the devs are listening”
I havnt played the beta yet, but it says it had arenas and other modes too. Honestly I really enjoy the conquest mode in GW2 and the 5v5 format; Its the fighting itself that is no longer enjoyable.

The problem with the skill is that its a cleave burst dmg/stun/evade on an easily spamable single button rotation. So truly the problem is the thief class mechanic, where they get these things on a single skill on the pretext that they’re easy to kill. Since the thief class mechanic is not going to be changed, Id sugest:
a) reducing the damage of the skill (again) so that it is no longer the main damage of the weapon set. Force the thief to atleast autoattack more the target.
or
b) reduce the amount of time the thief is evading while doing this skill, so that they cant do all of their damage while invulnerable (I mean, if the enemy is stunned, the thief shouldnt have to worry about the enemy hitting back. atleast make them think before using the skill…) then roll right after they finish and until they have enough initiative to start again.

Try toburst before they get another cooldown back” not to mention that they heal 400-700 hps when theyre invulnerable, and hoping that no one comes to help them while you spend all that time trying to kill one. Not to mention all the pet builds. You outright have to outplay by quite a bit these builds to kill them. I dont mind builds being OP, there will always be OP classes and builds with each patch and the meta will shift, but this current meta is focused on passive abilities. I get Anet is trying to get the PvE community to play more pvp since the community has died out, but making PvP simpler is not the way. Im still winning most of my matches, but its not fun anymore…

Only warriors being named again ? How many matches Did you play ? What about the OP engies,necros,guardians,mesmers,“Some” thiefs.. ? There are several of those in every pvp match aswell…But no, no thats not interesting lets just follow the qq train to warrior land.
Other classes can have some easy to play or somewhat op build but none can be as remotely infuriating as warrior, simple as that. I almost never lose a 1vs1 against warriors, it’s not that the build is OP, it’s that the build is terribly unfun to play against because even a SERIOUSLY BAD player can survive for way longer than they should. The amount of immunities, stability, sustain etc is just too much. When I engage a war on my engi and he pops his godkitten berserker stance, all I can do is kite him around for 10 seconds. Is it fun? Is it really fun?
Remember OP’s thread is about what is fun, not what might be seen as OP per see. Warrior is just the least fun class/builds to play against by far. That includes other passive builds like Spirit Ranger. Spirit Rangers don’t have billions of blocks, condi removal and immunities.
The typical hambow build isn’t too horrible to play against but what some of the random baddies run in soloq as bunkers with maximum defensive traits and amulet is just too much. It’s actually a lot, lot worse than trying to take down the typical bunker guardian.

Hello fellow necros! Ive been playing mostly power necro for a while aon tpvp and here is my input. Im on my phone so forgive my spelling.
Basically dagger horn is the best weapon set to control the fight. With 30 into spite (20% more dmg under 50% health and chill of death trait + eagle runes) as soon as your oponent reaches 50% health he should be done.
Make him use his dodges before dager 3 and then well him + aa and DS aa. This should do15-20k dmg in under 4seconds. For thieves you can alwayz use DS 4 when they try to stealth away.
If you REALLY want to burst someone down, like a bunker, do this same thinng but after you well him use lich. GG

I dont know if anyone else has reported this, but have you guys noticed that when staff marks get interrupted, even by yourself, they go on full cooldown? This is very bad, because many times I want to cancel the cast on one of my own skills (beacuse of blind or other reasons) and then it gets a full 20-45 sec cooldown.
Hey, just to answer a few more questions in depth.
@ Kryshade, Necro’s now bring Burning, Torment and the new and improved weakness, these weren’t present previously and bringing that much condition pressure means and condition cover (for their bleeds and burning), has changed the class drastically.
It is true their previous flaw of being an easy to focus target hasn’t changed, but the fact that they can deal so much counter pressure back on the aggressors and ontop of stacking the new weakness condition, means that they are substantially more survivable even though they are glass canons, and most of the time force their target to back off, if not killing it, but you can almost say any class being bursted down apart from guardians will almost always go down. This scenario however isn’t always true@Krilce, I am not just jumping on the nerf necro’s train, and have always been a very big advocate of necro’s receiving buffs, but when it has become very apparent that necro’s are bringing a gun to a knife fight.
If you also wish to discuss class viability, guardians and mesmers have always been a common choice of most teams, not because they are overpowered, but because of the utility they offer a team guardians can hold a point and sustain versus multiple targets, making it easier for their team mates to make plays around the map; whilst a mesmer offers illusion of life and portal which are hands down some of the best utilities in the game. Take these utilities away from those classes and watch them disappear from competitive play.
Necro on the other hand, offers great utility and massive aoe damage, that would even melt bunker guards; the damage at the moment is over the top and very very hard to counter; if the necro is giving a moderate time frame of free casting the team fight could be over before it has even started.I am not saying this because I want them to nerf necro into the ground, I think that in its current state necromancer is over the top and could use some toning down .
I agree with almost everything youre saying. I do believe that most of the community is over exaggerating and this could bring a bigger nerf than needed; Most people dont really know how to fight a necro. They know that when a guardian books hes healing everyone, when a mesmer is using blurred frenzy you cant hit him, etc. This hasnt happened yet to the necromancer, necromancer has just been seen as that class that is slowly aplying bleeds on top of keep and should probably be dealt with when possible before he corrupt boons the guard to death. People dont even know what deathshroud skills do! no one bothered to make a necro to see what theyre doing since they never had a problem with them.
As I said before, necros are a bit on the overpowered side, but we have to let the meta settle a little before we decide just how OP necro is and a reasonable adjustment can be implemented.
I dont understand why its fine for teams to stack eles, mesmers and engies, but necros get a buff and all of a sudden meta is broken when you see 2 in a tournament. Necros took back their role as condition masters, which was stolen by the HGH engie a while back. It IS a little on the overpowered side (so has been the mesmer since release, people have just had to learn to counter them). I just hope Anet doesnt nerf us to the ground after a week and we’re back to being lesser engies with no access to burning (condi burst)
It has a limited range. Even portal has a limited range. I know 10k range sounds like alot, but it covers only about half a pvp map
Anet makes money from microtransactions. You cant expect them to give you services for free. This is a fair price, you cant expect your custom server to just be given for free. I sound like an anet rep lol, but its the truth

So has anyone else noticed with the recent change in blink that Necrotic Traversal (flesh wurm blink) doesnt always work? that was our only disengage and, although it works in some most spots, but if you walked from the original spot you placed it and happened to walk past a wall, it wont blink you even towards the wall (im not talking through the wall) so you just stand there taking the mes burst, thief gance, etc.

In pvp we pay the iron price. We dont care about looking pretty, we care about the competition. I like thakittens hard to get, that means people that have the higher rank skins have either a) been winning alot of tourneys b) been grinding hotjoins, and if you got your armor through option b) then youre just making a rank 20 happy because he beat a rank 50. If youre playing this game to look pretty, go to pve and grind for months to get a unicorn shooting bow.
LOL ive been laughing so hard at this post. As a necro I apreciate that someone calls us overpowered <3 i can finally tell my friends that say that necro is just a big target to shut up and read this post (I know necro is OP and Im the one always saving their butts on a match). BTW, corrupt boon DOES have a cast time, about 1/2 a sec, its just kind of hidden and the poison applies instantly.
How about instead of a new condition on DS 5, you give us access to a burstier condition: Burning. Right now DS has 4 abilities: a power autoattack that hits pretty hard IF youre specced for power and over 50% DS, a gap closer that applies a few bleeds and freeze, a very good CC, and a AOE power attack that gives a little life force.
DS is suposed to be more than just a second life bar, you should be able to be rewarded from having saved more of it and it doesnt feel like it in a condi spec.
So my sugestion: Life blast applies 1 sec of burning if under 50% LF and 3 secs of burning if over 50% life force; you can play with the duration, i think maybe 2 sec of burning would be fine, but with the long cast time of Life Blast we would be limited combo-wise.
You could put it as a trait in the Curses, or SR traitline call it hellfire or wtv. Adding something like this would make builds more diverse too, people would see more benefits from investing into Spite traitline for condi duration, take more carrion amulets instead of Rabid for more LF (since it scales with Vit).
Also, while were at it, please reduce the cast time on DS 2

Condi necro is fine. The main problem with it is that the main dmg is bleeding, and can be removed with a single cleanse. This can be easily fixed with awareness. People just like to stack all their bleeds and try to burst someone down, and then are disapointed when thier 20 stacks are cleansed, and theyre left with no CDs.
Power necro needs some love. daggers and axe have no cleave, all the channels (axe and dagger) are easily dodgeable or interrupted because they are so long, and necro is not mobile enough to be chasing after people with 130 range (the devs intended for necros to cripple the target while you had swiftness with locust swarm but really, casting horn 5 in the middle of a fight is anoying, should be instant) when all the other classes have such good disengage.
our cooldowns are too long, so you need to think every single move you make in a fight, because chances are youre not using that skill again in the duration of the fight.
So yeah, necro has a high skill cap since none of the builds are faceroll 1,2,3 target dead combos, but atleast condi and team based power is completely viable
Nah, let me try to explain what is wrong with the thief. People have been going around with stealth and dmg being the biggest problem with the thief, but its really not, all of their skills make sense. theyre a squishy class that delivers alot of dmg, and their defence is not dmg mitigation, but avoiding the dmg. So what is wrong with them? their core mechanic.
Thiefs have no cooldowns on their abilities, they operate in the initiative system, that is suposed to work allowing them to spam the same ability several times, so all their abilities would have a “shared cooldown” which would be the initiative refill… but it goes up too fast. If you deplete your whole initiative bar, you can potentially have it back up in 3-5 seconds, so expending half your initiative bar on your powerful CnD cloak is not as big of a sacrifice as say, using your fear on Staff 5 on the necro, because you will have it back up in 3 seconds, by the time the effect runs out you can already use it again… the necro has to really consider if using his fear staff 5, because he wont have it back up again for almost 30 secs; same for every other class in this game. The only sacrifice a thief is doing is being squishy, which any other dmg class has to do anyways, and since their big dmg, in the case of Backstab, costs no initiative at all you can spam other abilities that can be as powerful while costing initiative.
How would i fix this? well, im no dev, but if they really want the thief to stay with this class mechanic, there are specific weapon skills that should have some sort of cooldown.
Hello fellow tPvP necro! anyways, i main a necro in tpvp and recently in wvw, and I think I can help out. If youre running a power build with wells and stuff for zerg fighting theres not much you can do. Thieves in wvw are very cheesy and will run out of combat relatively far and get out of combat before getting you again, and you wont have many cooldowns to make them go away again, any noob spamming heartseeker will probably kill you. anyways, if youre running a kind of rabid build with alot of cc theyre easy prey.
Basically Staff, Scepter,Warhorn, use corrupt boon and spectral walk to play with them, you can even use flesh golem. The trick is to chain cc them long enough to apply all the bleeds you can, and do it again if necesary. The main problem with this would be that youre no longer as effective in zergs, but it is a GREAT roaming build (no one should be able to 1v1 you in your necro).

Ive been playing for a while now, and honestly I dont think there is a need to talk. Everyone should know atleast the basic strat for each map, if they dont they can ask, and I can explain real quick. What I usually do, specially in foefire, is as soon as I know someone is going close, I know i have to go through the front door to mid, if after I go through the front door more than one person is going far, im going far, and if i see someone, other than a guard, going alone to their certain death alone in mid I will ping them so they atleast know theyre going alone to mid. Its a simple way to set up the strategy without talking, and of course im assuming the other people know what theyre doing even if only superficially; if they dont i dont see the difference talking over a strat would do. As you play more these guidelines you follow become more complex and apply to most situations, therefore there is no need to talk, hence the “talking is for noobs” comment. If someone explicitly asks for a strat before the match a simple “4-1, 1-3-1” and so one should suffice.
heh, after reading alot of this it seems the best way to balance this game would be to give every class, except ele and guardian, 20 more trait points.
You will read this, and think its kind of funny, then you will think about it and it will blow your mind.

Im pretty sure these questions are going to come up, but anyways i would like to know what does arenanet have planned to boost the competitive pvp play. They said they’re releasing some sort of spectator mode and private servers, but from what we can see that seems to be very secondary on their priorities, they seem to be putting alot more effort in pve.
The tPvP playerbase is dwindling fast, by the time this game reaches any competitive capabilities there will only be like 8 teams left playing each other over and over on paids and private tourneys.

Power necro is completely viable. the survivability and dmg that DS offers is very good, and the AOE dmg you can do id say is even op

i have one small question. how important are the wells in this build? i understand theyre traited and they do significant dmg, but their long CD and short duration seem like a really big inconvenient. ill prob do something like this, jsut without the wells
BTW what happened to the necro was that it was generally nerfed without thinking of the real interaction with other classes. it was scaled down because it was strong, so our traits didnt scale well with us. like life siphon and fear.
PS. really would like to see that build. i was breaking my head earlier trying to make a viable dagger build, but couldnt really make it worth replacing some other dmg dealer. i would really like to see big (bigger)numbers and be viable for a change
