Seriously? A hedgehog?
But back to topic: a rough timeframe would be nice. For example for players in the EU, it’s a matter of “do I wait a bit to start downloading the patch or can I go to bed because it won’t happen until late at night?”
typically, these types of event patches have been live around 04:00 to 05:00 or 4AM to 5AM, central european time.
so unless your schedule allows for you to stay up that long/get up that early, i recommend going to bed.
On the presumption recipes will be created, i do hope they don’t require vanilla, chilli, chocolate, egg and other increasingly demanded items. But for any realism of recipes.. hard to avoid :/
So yet another more trader prospecting based infation on these items i predict.
oh, i thought the only reason chocolate bars got so expensive was because of people speculating there will be winter’s day recipes involving them. so they started investing, hoping to sell for more during winter’s day.
i stocked up on sticks of butter, walnuts and cinnamon. i only bought between 1000 to 2000 of each though. i don’t wanna risk much more gold than that :/
5%MF replace 71 Power, i don’t think it’s bugged.
i’ve said it two days ago, i’ll say it again: my money is on polymock. look at these two dev posts:
you can also easily access all the other capitals from lion’s arch (there’s a central asura gate hub). that way, you can catch tixx in every major city, if you so desire.
A frying pan
. . . that throws bacon.>_>
i got some sweet concept art leaks for this one:
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/ssb/images/b/bd/Game_and_Watch_Chef_SSBB.png
WvW is not meant to be balanced or competitive. therefore, it’s not “serious” PvP. just like PvE isn’t really serious (personally, i play about 90-95% PvE).
3 situations:
1) You are exploring persistant PvE map = 3 minutes before forced reset to apply new build.
2) You are in an instance (ie Dungeon) = 3 hours before forced reset to apply new build.
3) You use a waypoint/leave an instance or similar = instant client reset to apply new patch.
it seems most people don’t understand this, especially 3).
I’m sure a more detailed post about what exactly was fixed/changed will be released soon. Be patient.
i doubt that. and i also think they only threw “bugs” in there to make it sound better, not because they actually fixed any bugs (that weren’t involved in an exploit).
i’m glad they’re fixing things, though.
um, demon summoning sigils don’t reset after they’ve summoned the fleshreaver.
do you mean they did that before this patch/fix or they’re doing it now?
It’s almost like being feared… by yourself.
haha, that’s a good analogy.
In general, Rising Dusk, I would not expect difficult combat challenges in combat updates. The reception of including such content with the Halloween update was very poor.
i’m assuming that’s supposed to be “in non-combat updates”. and is the very poor reception bit referring to the two PvP-minigames that were available during halloween? the one with the villagers/mad king’s lackeys and the DoTA-style one?
i’m guessing Jeff Grubb wrote the lore behind the winter’s day event. he came up with the asura in the first place, if i remember correctly.
i made a thread asking about it. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/All-bundles-evironmental-weapons-bugged/first#post983395
seeing how this bug is almost always interfering with picking up a bundle while on the move, i’m not sure why there are no official statements/stickied threads or.. well any threads about it.
this will never end, unless Anet figures out a way to proof who’s buying gold from the botters/gold sellers and starts mercilessly banning every single one of those rotten kittens.
but unfortunately, they won’t do that. so that means, we’ll have to live with them as long as the GW2 servers keep running.
no PTR please, imho it’d be waste of time and money.
So, am I correct in assuming that with every single bundle/evironmental weapon you have to pick up from the ground, they bug out and lock you in your current movement for about a second or two if you try to pick them up while on the move?
I’ve encountered this bug countless times, but I haven’t really tested it so far. Does anyone have more reliable info on this? Searching the forums doesn’t give me anything on “bundles” or “evironmental weapons”.
Why doesn’t this game have extended tool tips that show the proper formulas?
I understand the frustrations that come with inaccurate descriptions. I’ve worked a lot on the skill “fact” system to bring it up to a good point, but I know there is more we can do. This includes making all buffs, upgrades, sigils, and traits affect skill tooltip numbers (some already do), adding additional skill facts based on traits, as well as adding the same or similar “fact” system to trait descriptions.
There are a couple reasons why trait/skill descriptions aren’t as accurate as they could be. They were constantly changing up until ship for balance and polish. This means some of the descriptions are just out of date. Also, each time a number is changed within the text, it needs to get localized again. This means it’s more efficient to make them a little more vague to lessen the localization cost and protect ourselves if that number needs to change again. That’s why skills have “facts” instead of baking the numbers into the descriptions. The last reason it’s difficult to keep skills and traits accurate is because of technical and time limitations. Our skills are complicated, and it takes designers a lot of time to make sure the numerous parts are correct. Sometimes we don’t even have the ability to make the facts accurate (summon’s damage was a tricky one).
I’m personally very passionate about skill descriptions. We know there are improvements that can be made and I’ll push to get time to revisit them because, well, I just like them
my money’s on polymock pieces. as tixx is obviously the harbinger of polymock.
so no, in your opinion OP, it will probably not be worth logging in.
Mjolnir.. 350 charged lodestones.. kitten
fair enough.. crafted exotics / legendaries aside though.. i’m using the corrupted sledgehammer right now, which took some time / resources as well but i’m quite a fan of it. the lionguard is not bad. the anchor if you enjoy some humor (or pirates in general). the magamaton (though also getting pricier). the glyphic ones i’ve always enjoyed. then we have the dungeon skins, such as the kodan hammer, AC hammer, and the Orrian hammer are all quite nifty too i feel.
but still, i will always welcome new hammer skins. : ))
yeah, i’ve been using the charr cultural t3 hammer (or rather, another karma weapon that shares a skin with, but only costs around 500 karma) on my norn warrior for a while, it was a pretty good fit for the dredge dungeon armor set i was running around in.
more recently, i switched to the ebon vanguard hammer (those weapons sadly don’t have visually identical, but cheaper alternatives). it’s pretty cool.. but i’d really like a lightning hammer :/
Off the top of my head, there are no event skins for Scepter, Mace, Hammer, Shortbow, Warhorn, Torch, or Pistol.
if i remember correctly, there is a halloween short bow.
I see nothing else “toys” could mean than town clothes / costume brawl weapons. Thats even what they’re called in-game.
polymock. i’m betting tixx is the harbinger of polymock.
the barefoot kid is probably a norn. they literally produce too much body heat to really need clothing for warmth reasons, even in climates like the shiverpeaks.
speaking of climates, lion’s arch always struck as me as kind of a “mediterranean” region, if you will. i bet the snow there is actually just magic/artificial, probably provided by asura technology.
you don’t like any of the existing hammers? : )) i’m definitely always one for more skins, but there are a bunch out there that are pretty neat i must say.
that being said, i certainly wouldn’t mind seeing a new hammer skin for the holidays! make that all weapons matter of fact.
yeah, well.. with someone buying up all silver doubloons on the TP and ultimately raising their price by over 1000% it’s extremely discouraging for anyone who still wants to go for the juggernaut.
mjolnir and foefire’s power are pretty expensive as well, with 350 and 100 charged lodestones, respectively.
so far, there are no jumping puzzles with actually moving platforms in gw2. wherever it might have seemed like that, it was always just the background moving or the platforms being set up in a way, so that they’re either there and active, or deactivated and not currently there. don’t let the animations fool you.
Thanks Navi.
And as far as the toys go, I think you’ll all be pleasantly surprised.
polymock, calling it now.
I’ll admit right off the bat that I don’t have a clue about programming but if one works for a major company like ArenaNet and is working on a salary (paid pretty well I assume) to fix bugs, shouldn’t they be able to do it within days..even hours? It’s been 3 weeks and counting…plus Mr. Hrouda just pretty much admitted that they have no clue how to fix this bug “give us more time please/working on a fix/not ready yet”. As another person in this thread said as well, I’m losing faith in your programmer’s abilities.
i don’t have a clue about programming/coding, either. but from what i’ve gathered, there are (substantial) differences between the dungeon systems and the one they implemented for the fractals. i think that might be because of how the difficulty levels/scales work, but i’m not entirely sure.
If you are referring to Crucible of eternity your best bet for finding a group for it is gw2lfg.com
this has worked out for me as well (i generally use that site very often since i found out about a few weeks ago).
imho CoE is pretty cool dungeon, more so than others. also, i gets significantly easier once you know it a little better. with an experienced party, it’s a breeze, really. not as fast as the shorter dungeons, but not frustratingly difficult, either.
haha, the fish swarm effect is neat.
since launch i’ve been more or less working towards the juggernaut (legendary hammer).
then i learned about “Mjolnir”.
then i learned about charged lodestones, and that Mjolnir requires 350 of them.
…
-This is a big hint:
YOU DO NOT MAKE ENEMIES THAT TARGET A RANDOM PLAYER.
can you imagine how incredibly boring (most people already find the PvE pretty boring) this game would be if they followed your.. “hint” here?
wow, is this yet another bug introduced today’s patch?
sorry to hear that, though
does it happen regardless of which dye you use?
wow, yet another weird/random, but game-wide bug introduced with this patch. what is even happening?
i don’t know anything about software development, but i do ask myself how complex/intertwined all of the code must be when changes affect stuff that is seemingly unrelated.
maybe i’m wrong here, but to me it looks like that’s happening all over the place. and i ’m guessing it might be one of the reasons we see new bugs introduced in most of the updates.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-Patch-disussion-12-3/first#post915593
does this workaround actually work? not attacking the cultists before the boss, in the last fight, i mean.
Nearest event seems way too remote and entirely unrelated:http://i.imgur.com/uIEiq.jpg
that is indeed the first event of the event chain that will (or should) eventually open the gate again.
We’re working on it. It was an intended change to certain types of transforms (for things like activities, etc) so you can’t have any active traits while the transform is active. There was a bug where trait line buffs (stat boosts) were still active, while minor and major traits were disabled.
A few transforms like Moa, and Ride The Lightning were unintentionally and negatively affected by this change.
We’ll have this fixed soon.
For transformed activities? Oh no. Please don’t nerf me while I’m fighting the Xolotl event chain in Caledon Forest. I love that chain and it’s hard enough already when I’m downleveled. Don’t steal all my HP so the jellyfish boss ROFLstomps (ROFLstings?) me. Please make sure that any changes you make don’t apply in to that event chain.
And why do you want to remove traits for activities anyway? My elementalist has such low health already, I can’t see why you want to make that situation even worse. Please be careful with this approach to activities. They should be fun, not stupidly deadly.
i think they’re referring to these types of activities:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Activity
the vast majority of which aren’t even implemented in the game yet, even though they’ve announced we’d have about 11 activities on launch, years ago.

Thank you aeric….I thought everyone was upset because they released more armor….well I’ll go back to my corner now
so far they released only ascended rings and backpieces, as far as i know. the backpieces are actually visible on your character when you’re wearing them, but like all other backpieces, you can not preview them. for example:
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/prototype_fractal_capacitor.jpg
upgrades to
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/beta_fractal_capacitor_infused2.jpg
upgrades to
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/fractal_capacitor.jpg
then there are exotic fractal weapons (which look similar to the first version of the backpiece, which is also exotic), those will be upgradeable to ascended level in the future.
I have to agree, with this and the transform health/trait issue it needs to be reverted if a hotfix that fixes these can’t be put out within a couple of hours.
what’s that health/trait issue?
first the jumping gets messed up and now this? how do you even break random things like these every patch?
i don’t know anything about coding/software programming, but sometimes i really wonder how they built this game so that changing stuff completely screws other, unrelated sections of the game.
Magic find is flawed by design. Gain more by contributing less. Wut?
i agree. i wish they’d remove it.. maybe leave it on food if they really have to. :/
i’ve run into this issue as well, very annoying. made me quit the EB JP for now :/
We’re looking into this now. Thank you for the reports!
Can you make us jump like Super Mario?
only if you craft an acorn power-up in the mystic forge.
the recipe involves 250 ectos, 10 mystic forge stones, 250 pinenuts and 50 nutmeg seeds. it’s the only food consumable (nourishment buff for 30 minutes) that needs to be crafted in the mystic forge and doesn’t require the cooking discipline.
just kidding :P
and i thought i just got bad at jumping puzzles over night… hm, not sure how those CoE runs i had planned for later will work out.
i think they changed the BLTC window background. it still has horrible resolution bugs with the small interface size on my screen, though
Actually, last few small patches there have been hardly any patch notes. Or at least I can’t find them any wheres on forums/announcements.
some of them were called “new builds” even though they posted on twitter (and on the forum frontpage-message, i believe) that no content changes were made.
Wandering around Metrica and a few other lowbie zones there seems to be a new wave of bot farmers (though I’ve seen a few in 70-80 zones as well).
hm, it would make sense for them to focus on lowlevel zones. i mean, aren’t those practically empty by now? i imagine the risk of getting reported is way lower in those low- and mid level zones.
please just hire the guy (or girl, i don’t give a flying kitten) and have him/her copy & paste the tool/site into the game.
dear americans,
please consider that you can NOT play with anyone on the EU servers and vice versa. save your own and everyone else’s time and only respond to LFG requests from you region, that’d be much appreciated.
happy hunting!
p.s.: i’ve been contacted by many people who reacted to my posts on the LFG site, only to invite them to a party and then find out they’re actually from the NA servers. if you encounter any europeans not aware of the fact that you can’t play cross region, feel free to educate them on it.
I wish there were just someone actively on the SPvP boards whose entire job was to post here.
i think it’s fair to assume that any dev post (i’m talking about actual devs, not gaile gray or the community team) in these forums (not just PvP, the forums in general) is made by devs in their free time, or when they have a free minute or two while they’re at work. i’m sure they are not paid for reading the forums and/or posting on them, but to do their actual job.
considering this, it’s no wonder the communication seems .. inconsistent. 90% of the interesting dev posts are made by people who have no obligation whatsoever to even be here. in fact, i’m betting some might even be wary of posting here and avoid it, because they’re not sure what repercussions their comments might have.
since i’ve been following the developement of this game for years, i’m familiar with many names at ArenaNet. and anyone in a similar postion is probably able to tell what to expect in a dev post just by looking at who posted it.
but i imagine many people in the community (if they even visit the forums) just go: “oh, it’s a red post, so it’s official, so it must all from one coordinated team of mods, who are paid to moderate and post on here.”
(edited by Nemui.6753)
I think the notifications really help new players who often didn’t know how to get stuff from the TP. At least they are offered some help now.
However, the persistence of the icon indeed is rather annoying. Options to turn notifications on or off would be nice, but it would also help if simply opening the TP window would clear the icon. Now it only clears when you go to the trader and pick up your goods, which I only tend to do every once in a while. Just clearing it when players press O would help a great deal already.
i agree, i’m under the impression Anet added this so new players would know when/where they got something, and that they have to go a trading post NPC to pick it up.
i personally don’t like it, but i wouldn’t mind if they kept it in and gave us an option to turn it off.
