“Rescue Pastkeeper Saballa” in Caledon Forest is bugged on my server (Dzagonur [DE]). She just won’t move after you opened/destroyed her cage. Or actually, she is moving. Above another destroyable cage next to hers. I detroyed it as soon as she started attacking it. The hylek inside was released and now Saballa seems a little… challenged. She just swims back and forth above the other cage, endlessly. Sometimes she’ll attack krait that are nearby, only to return to her swimming back and forth above that broken cage.
Is it like this for anyone else?

I’m assumning with “next patch” you mean the winter’s day one? So that means we’ll see the scavenger hunt in 2013, i’m guessing?

People using MF gear can be a hindrance to a party if the player isn’t very skilled. PUGing always come with dangers – but I find the most dangerous thing is a glass cannon stat allocation combined with berserker gear. Great for damage, but if a dungeon Vet sneezes on you, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Personally, I run with a mixed stat set for dungeons. I have about 15% MF without consumables, and spread the rest through a mix of toughness, power, and crit chance. I pretty much remove my +crit% in favor for MF%. I play a very mobile ranger as well, and know the mechanics of combat pretty well, so more often than not I am carrying a team of PUGs, or even my friends.
The truth of the matter is that even glass cannon builds can be possible in the hands of a highly skilled players who know exactly what to do. It all boils down to the player skill and their knowledge of the challenge at hand.
My personal approach to stats and skills are based around utility and an even spread. Min-maxing has it’s potential, but I’ve come to the conclusion that I am no help to my team lying dead on the ground, and team-play is more important than personal output, so as long as I can be up helping my team, I am valuable.
i assume making mf a group based stat in dungeons is not an option?
personally, i don’t really care for mf and will probably never use it in any of my gear.. but i’d tolerate people in my dungeon group running mf if the entire party gets something out of it. the entire party has to carry the burden, after all.
as others have already suggested, please make magic find a group stat in dungeons.
How do you explain the orders below merchant value then? We can no longer do that and yet that still persists!
i’ve read a dev post (by John Smith who posted in this thread as well, i believe) stating that they removed the ability to post orders below merchant value. though they still had to do some cleaning up with the orders that were already placed by the time the change went live.
but i am not sure whether this is the same thing you’re still seeing today, as the post i mentioned above is fairly old now.

froging precursors from godskulls? did they change something about the formulas in the mystic forge or something? i haven’t really tried this yet, but i believe to get one you’d have to be incredibly lucky.

assuming you have to have agony resistance in order to survive it (i.e. it’s automatically applied to you, no matter what), i think it’s very … uninspired.
and i don’t like the fact that you need a certain stat on your gear to overcome it.
but i suppose they have to slow us down somehow, that’s what the article sounds like to me.

The only way to mitigate Agony damage is by building up resistance through Infusions[…]
assuming you can’d dodge/avoid agony in any other way than having infusion, i’m disappointed.
the only way you can give us “challenging end game content” is by introducing a simple gating mechanic? wow.. i’ll try it, but so far i’m not excited about this part of the update.
I would like to know if the delay with the blog post is caused by arena.net panicking about the response of the community( is obvius that this will gonna happen ) , and hope that the responsible of that “abomination/idea” could explain where he/she get the feedback about that the community want more powerful items and morph GW in a threadmile game.
they’ve actually said in the past that all their blog posts have to be done weeks/months in advance, before they are actually posted. they don’t just write and post them nilly-willy, they have fixed release schedules and everything for them. i’m pretty sure they are not going to change their planned dates just cause a few thousand of us panic.
you can adjust a few different sound levels. effets and bgm, for example. i’m not sure whether these combat oriented shouts also fall under “dialogue”.
i absolutely love how indifferently my norn warrior simply says “shake it off.” when i use the shout. it fits the norn character so well. for everyone else it’s an intense shout, getting rid of conditions and breaking stuns. for norn, they should’ve renamed it to “shrug it off”
playing a female norn warrior. all of my utilities are shouts.
i hear “For great justice!” “On my mark!” and “Shake it off!” every 20 seconds on average. (i use shake it off even when i don’t have conditions on me or stuns to break, because it grants me adrenaline)
and i never tire of it.
sometimes the audio clips cut each other off when using different shouts in quick succession. so you can make your character say “Shake it for great justice!” or “Shake it on my mark!”
or if you pass an adrenaline threshold sometimes the warrior goes “adrenaline rising” or “almost there”. those can be used for the previously mentioned combinations as well, i think.
a friend of mine also plays a warrior and whenever we run around together we both constantly hear our character shout at each other while rampaging through our enemies, it’s so hilarious.
generally, our characters never shut up.
I realize that it’s hardly a fix, but I just use the guru tracker, which is much better. Full thread titles, sorted by thread rather than post, easier to scan, etc.

There is also another Hodgins bug that I thought I would mention as this topic has you r attention; if after getting all the scepter pieces, you run toward the howling king through the under tunnels before Hodgins has finished his dialogue, the objective doesnt update and the Howling King doesnt spawn. Never had the bug that the OP posted, but this one has happened a couple of times.
i had this happen to my group yesterday. the objective just stays “enter the tunnels”, or whatever it is you’re supposed to enter directly before it updates to “defeat the howling king”.
when we went into the tunnels, nothing happened. we ran around the instance for a while, killed a few of the breeders in the boss room, but the howling king himself just wouldn’t spawn, the event was stuck. so we just had to give up. very frustrating to waste all this time.
at least it only takes about half an hour to get a group together for AC on my server, it’s way worse for most other dungeons. i wish we had a global lfg channel or something.. so we wouldn’t actually have to wait around to have fun, as colin promised way back when.
as far as i’m aware, you can’t actually group up with people from the other datacenter. so i couldn’t play dungeons with you cause i’m on a EU server. the same thing goes for sPvP/tPvP if i’m not mistaken… i believe the only thing that’s literally “global” is the TP.
We don’t want you to wait around to have fun.
I believe this is what one of the devs (no names cause my post might be edited) said during development, in reference to dungeons.
Too bad it takes me longer to find a group for certain dungeons than to actually complete them.
i’m experiencing the same issue on a keyboard with a german layout. is it fair to assume that everyone is affected by this?
it doesn’t just suck for us, the players, but it also makes me feel bad for whoever put all their time and effort into creating all the underwater zones, assets, enemies, everything. whoever was working on this at ArenaNet, almost completely wasted their time, because the majority of players still hate underwater combat… if not because of other reasons, definitely because of this bug.
they had such high hopes for underwater during development, but it seems this project failed.
Just a supportive bump in a vain attempt to get someone’s attention. This bug is so prevalent in water combat that either a) a dev MUST have experienced this and know it exists but have so much other buggy code to fix they can’t get to it or b) the devs don’t play water content. Unfortunately it seems it’s a). But I’m sure glad these patches lately are implemented for 1-bug fixes! xD
there are sooo many bugs in the game it’s not even funny anymore (the actually entertainig animantion bugs from betas they had to get rid of, though). some of them since launch, but the worst part about it is, that they introduce a whole lot of new bugs all the time

I’m starting to think people haven’t read the ‘heads up’ very closely.
The events on Friday and Saturday sound very minor. It’s clearly the Sunday event that’s the major one. It’s a ‘big finale’ and a ‘one time only event’.
So no, Friday afternoon probably isn’t a popular time. Sunday afternoon, however, is.
it’s friday/saturday/sunday evening respectively, in europe. of course it’s gonna be their highest concurrency, because (on saturday and sunday at least) a large chunk of the US playerbase will be able to participate. and simultaneously, they’ll have most of their EU customers playing on friday/saturday/sunday evening (12PM PDT).
if they’d go for evening in the US, they’d have barely anyone playing in the EU (cause it’d be 3 to 6 AM). so just looking at numbers, it makes sense that this is the highest concurrency.
I have to ask. Why are they removing the Ascent to Madness dungeon anyhow? Why not keep it till the event is fully finished?
the mad king is allowed to leave his realm and enter the world of mortals one day a year, and that’s halloween. my guess is act 4, a.k.a. “the party”, is going to be that day.

We would… if after 3 days now you find us a way to use the broken doors… Sorry for being so annoying, but it’s a bit incredible how this doesn’t get a solution… It’s a fixed-time event, planned for months…
are you sure you completed the meta even chain that makes the doors spawn? many people aren’t aware these exist.
or are you talking about those events being stuck? cause i’ve heard about that.. but i still can’t imagine they have been bugged for 3 days straight.

In addition to everything stated in the thread thus far, I would like to add that the fact that the Zhaitan fight was confined to a 5 man dungeon rather than being the culmination of an epic dynamic event chain was the single most disappointing thing about Guild Wars 2.
they confirmed it was an instanced encounter about a year (or even longer) before release. i’m not saying you have to like it, but.. you know, it’s not really a surprise.
also, in a way, you do need to complete a meta event chain in order to open the gates of arah.
the problem there is within the game mechanics itself. It’s the same for kill shot (or any other burst). You gotta actually wait for the adrenaline to empty before using the shouts. There is a lag where the adrenaline is not emptying right after the skill connects. Who knows, maybe ANet would fix something like this or not.
oh, i see, so it’s not a bug? nevermind then.
Are you sure you weren’t activating the shout right before the hit landed, thus causing it to add to the current adrenaline which is then duly removed when the attack hits the opponent?
hm, if this is the case, then earthshaker has a really long casting time after the animation and sound effect played and you hit the target. i’m gonna upload a short video and edit this post with a link to it.

Adrenaline gain is completely turned off during the burst animation to (I’m assuming) prevent the burst skill from generating adrenaline. Flurry would give you one bar back straight away. I’ll add it to the bug list as something needs to give way,
oh, when i said “animation” i wasn’t talking about the skill’s animation. i meant the animation that empties your adrenaline bar, that’s why i put it in airquotes. if i remember correctly, this still goes on for a bit after your burst skill animation is done.
Discipline – Inspiring Shouts: Doesn’t grant you adrenaline if shouts are used too quickly after emptying your adrenaline bar by using a burst skill.
you literally have to wait for the “animation to play” and only after it’s done you gain adrenaline by using a shout. incredibly annoying, is this by design? i guess if it is, it’d fall under the “quality of life” category.
oh, i just figured out one more thing. witch costum 3 has you stand still and do nothing, not even dodge for 7 seconds. but the invulnerability only last 5. so every time you use it, you have to take 2-3 seconds of punishment for no good reason.
i bought the witch costume and have been using it a bit. no idea where to put it, but someone in a mad king costume just completely destroyed me. he was a guardian and had “save yourselves” on at all times, it felt like. i could never get away from him and he kept me in a daze + 1 hit/second aoe of some sorts. so basically i couldn’t do anything and was killed within about 10 seconds or so. even when i used shake it off to get rid of the daze, and then dodged twice, i was still in range of his annoying 1hit/second ability.
i wasn’t aware the broom riding made you invulnerable, i’ll have to try that.
the melting into goo skill might sound great, but in a 1 on 1 it’s bad to actually use this skill. it’ll give your opponent all the time in the world to prepare the attack for when you reappear out of the puddle.
edit: oh, i forgot one thing. as with many other bundles and transformation skills/elites, the with costume’s auto attack actually has like an extra second cooldown. very annoying.

Hey all, it’s not an issue with crowding, there’s just a bug that causes it to lock up when there’s 100 people hitting it all at once. It should be fixed real soon.
i’m on a german server (Dzagonur [DE]) and i was there at 6 AM local time. there were only a handful of people around the piazza (most of them weren’t even near Tassi) and it still wouldn’t work
hopefully “real soon” will be before act 2 begins.
apparently relogging helps in some cases. unfotunately, it doesn’t work for me.
i’m on Dzagonur (DE) and i’m under the impression that the event doesn’t for the majority (if not all) of the players on this server.
i also have a hunch that we get more bugs and stuck events like that because we’re one of the three EU servers that were added later.. but that’s a different story.
it’s 06:00 (AM) in central europe right now. so for us it kinda is patch monday morning… :/

so now, sitting here and downloading the halloween patch, i wonder if misunderstood what the term “streaming updates” actually means.
was it always “just” the concept of a server changing builds on the fly, and not the client downloading the patch in the background, prior to release? because from what i heard about GW1, i was under the impression your game would automatically download the new data while you could just keep playing.

on Dzagonur, Warmaster Jofast’s event is stuck the same way. sometimes she stands in a slightly different spot, but the outcome is the same. generally speaking, this event is usually stuck our server, which is very frustrating

i saw the exact post you were talking about, i suggest reporting it because it is clearly against the rules. if it even is still there. i would’ve reported it earlier myself, but the forum was missing buttons (among them the “report” one) again.
edit: i just checked, the forum is still not showing all the buttons on the earlier pages of the thread, for me at least. but you can click on the user in question and report them.

1.5-2 hour rollback if you were playing at the time of the crash. Enjoy…
i was playing about 4 or 5 hours ago (which would be way before the crash, right?) and still got hit by the rollback. i lost about an hour worth of progress on the map i was trying to complete.
this has to be bugged, i can’t imagine it’s working as intended. i’m surprised so few people are talking about this and i’m surprised it’s still not fixed. it’s a pretty big deal in ac explorable, for example.
or is there another thread about this?
