Scavenger hunt was confirmed for all precursors, infact if you follow reddit, there was a post about datamined items which started some what of a “quest/progression” towards acquiring precursors in a guaranteed way. These items are already in the game, but i doubt we will actually be able to get them until March when the whole Scarlet arc ends.
I wouldn’t bet money on March. Arenanet has become pro at pushing precursor crafting back. I find it unlikely that they are doing anything with it more than they can get away with. They make far to much money off of the TP tax and the thousands upon thousands of exotic sales that people throw into the toilet.
I’ll wait for the mining pick that gives a 50% chance of Ectoplasm
If I had to choose between Skritt or Quaggan, I’d vote for Skritt.
I want a salvage-o-matic that has a 100% chance of recovering ectoplasm
Remember though that Skritt get smarter the more their numbers increase, conversely though, players tend to get dumber the bigger the mob gets.
The Kodan would vote for this. It is balance.
How will EotM work anyway as a WvW map? If it’s a single overflow, that means there will be a lot more than just red/green/blue I would think. Unless they assign you as a color when you get put in there. Is it going to be fully open PvP then? or?
As Vol already stated, it’s not about the sprockets. Just the other day, on our guild Teamspeak, we we’re doing a dungeon and someone say, “Darn, I’m out of salvage kits!”. I’ve said how I love my Fed-O-Matic for unlimited salvages, and how it’s a great item. A guildy then said that someone did the math and you had to salvage thousands of items in order to break even on your purchase. But I did not buy it cause of the economic value, but cause of convinience. It was great for me and well worth it.
I think it’s worth pointing out that when the slavage-o-matic came out, silk and cotton were not worth nearly what they are now, nor was essence-of-luck in existence. In my venture towards “more magic find!” I’m pretty sure I’ve burned through a thousand or so blues/greens, and the materials I’ve salvaged from them are worth a decent amount (example: they aren’t the most valueable, but I have over 1000 mithril ingots just sitting around, and I’ve not gone to mine mithril specifically in quite a while. I get most of it from salvaging).
Of all the infini-tools in the game, I think the salvage-o-matic is the one that most easily starts to pay itself off.
If Anet came out with a redesigned molten pick that had a 20% chance of Azurite Crystal (3 s worth now), I’m sure people would be up in arms.
Again, this isn’t about sprockets, it’s about the extra items you get themselves, and the lack of alternative picks that give you the same chance.
I’m pretty sure that Anet is betting on the forum being a ‘small minority" that they can ignore with their P2W scheme. People need to get the word out to their guilds and get non-forum players to speak up as well. Sadly it is likely that Anet has already calculated that risk and found they can get away with it, otherwise it wouldn’t have been implemented.
Remember, the Devs have said that this year they are going to change GW2 forever in a way that the players did not expect. :/
Completely agree with OP.
This isn’t ok.
The sprockets may not be worth much, but this mining tool gives a clear advantage over everyone else.
Advantage in acquiring value.
Not much, but it is an advantage in acquiring value.
Thus it is pay 2 win.Where is the advantage of spending 1000 gems to very slowly gain a few sprockets?
You are greatly losing money out of this, and the only way to get any value is through very high dedication. Which is the opposite of P2W (get things by paying for them instead of working for them).
It’s not about the raw economy of the item, the problem is the precedent that it sets. Arenanet is plainly stating that they are willing to allow people to pay for an advantage. Whether or not that little trick is profitable doesn’t matter, because it makes it quite clear that in their mind it is OK to pay for advantage over others. It is a potential pebble that starts the landslide to things that do let you profit relatively quickly.
Welcome to the world of pay-to-win.
This game had so much potential, but they had to destroy it for a dollar :/
Both in the game are useless, so I propose an improvement.
Unfortunately, Anet will not see it that way. They make a ton of money off of minipets.
b) Titles: all have some difficulty getting and there is no real reward than words that in most cases go unnoticed. To change this I propose to keep this title you give a specific benefit of each one that you slightly improve one or more parameters such as power, critical damage, vitality, speed to move …
This is an interesting idea. Could do some interesting stuff with that.
Knockback is pretty good for pushing mobs into a stack, and I’d imagine another player in WvW as well. It’s the only time I use it when grouped.
Knockback is an excellent control for small/large scale fights, especially in PvE. Wars/Guards battling it out with a champ, and you then can use knockback to control the additional mobs that might be involved. If they aggro the main group, knock them out of range of the stack. If they aren’t aggro’d to the stack, knock them into it and watch them melt.
Many rangers, however, tend to use solo tactics in group settings. That is their choice though.
As for ranger hate, I don’t think it’s hate towards a specific class that is the problem in GW2. It’s elitist hate. It’s massive egos trying to compensate for who-knows-what by belittling, disparaging, and generally degrading anyone who doesn’t play exactly as they do.
Number 3 is starting to bug me a lot. My system isn’t brand new, but when I started GW2 I recall places like Lion’s Arch and Divinity’s reach taking only a short bit to load. The time it takes now for L.A. to load is border line with “make sure you have something else to do while waiting” in length.
I think the problem for many who don’t like GW2 is they paid money for an MMO, and recieved a gem-store driven theme park.
The lack of emotes really makes GW2 feel like there was some point during the development process where some money grubbing executive threw a tantrum about developing anything that wasn’t money related.
It would be nice if they put the destruction on such a large scale in the hands of the players. In other words, if the players fail to stop Scarlet, the results is something like L.A. getting destroyed.
Meaning I could visit another server and it would look different? Interesting, not sure what kind of a nightmare that would be for the design in the future.
On a simpler level, it could be game-wide. That’s how it was with the Ellen/Evon event.
Or they could rig it like the tower of nightmares destruction where everything is predetermined, but the players have an illusion that they are affecting the world.
That, more than anything, is likely what will happen, which is just.. hollow.
On a simpler level, it could be game-wide. That’s how it was with the Ellen/Evon event.
Mhhh, so we would not see the progression, it would be tallied in the background and one day we get the result?
Your efforts where in vain as the rest of scarlet’s forces overrun (let’s say) Lions Arch.
cutsceneVictoriffic! Watch the surviving cowards flee.
cutsceneOr it could also be used to display the level of destruction, definitely some option there.
That would work, though I was thinking something more event related. Take Origins of Madness for example. Let’s say this was the last in this living story segment. The way it could play out would be that the Marrionette fight would be a lot more difficult, and if not one server ever completed the event by the final date, Lornar’s Pass would be turned into a wasteland, completely void of life except for twisted monstrosities left roaming around the land.
This would give the players a large stake in the course of the game.

I’m not sure how to describe this. This problem showed up while my wife and I were playing, and appears to be a visual effects bug.
I do not know if it is specific to the ranger class.
What happens is that through some mechanism, unknown to me, a ghost figure of an eagle will appear right above my characters head, but only on someone elses screen. As I stated, this was something my wife noticed. We sit right next to each other when playing GW2, and I was able to lean over and look at her screen, and this big semi-transparent eagle was attached to my rangers head.
It appears to be the effects for some sort of buff, but I had no buffs or active signets on at the time. It also appears to persist until waypointing. We have no idea what causes it to happen, but to my knowledge my current build doesn’t use any traits or signets that cause this display. I can’t recall ever seeing it at all. The closest large bird looking effect I’ve seen is the one that accompanies the #3 GS skill for ranger, but from what I can tell it’s a different bird.
Do you have ideas on how to improve the tone of the community, Neural?
Share, share, share.
The only workable solution lies within the company itself (in this case Arenanet). They need to decide to clean up their community, and they need to decide to spend money making sure they have the manpower to do so. No player-involved systems will work, as they will all suffer from unwanted individuals gaming the system.
..comments..
While your intentions are noble, I guarantee you that any sort of “karma” system that involves player interaction for status will be automatically abused/exploited to the fullest extent, putting griefers in control of the very system you want to use to get rid of them.
Exactly my point. They are really useful when trying solo a champ and even at tequatl ive seen tons of them as well. No performance issues just the usual lag because of the large amount of players.
Wtf am i supposed to do with the 250+ of each cosumable?!
The charzooka nerf was not needed either. It had a timer when it ran out which was good. You really expect us to pay 1s for 1 shot of the charzooka?! Errr no thanks!
Really sad that they are so hard up for cash that they have to change miniscule things such as this.
We’ve noticed a real change in player’s behaviour over the past little while. Profanity doesn’t bother us much but there has been a noticeable increase in disgustingly racist, homophobic and sexist comments, as well as generally abusive behaviour.
I’ve quit playing a few times because of comments in chat promoting violence against women, kitten , etc. My husband once asked them politely to cool it and in return was called an f***ing c*** (misogynistic slur referencing a female body part). Seriously, I wonder what kind of morons there are out there that think joking about kitten women and smacking women around is appropriate. It is highly offensive and absolutely disgusting.
I’m not going to turn off map chat because I have the right to know if certain events are happening, etc. I should not lose that because some people are jerks. I keep adding to my block list but that does nothing about the problem when more and more idiots join in.
I really think there needs to be a formal stern warning here, the log in screen, wherever making it clear that this behaviour as well as the abusive behaviour the OP described is completely unacceptable and will result in a perma-ban if repeated.
This is the modern gaming culture, and it is only going to get worse. There are organized groups in various games, including GW2 who’s primary goal is to make others quit, and they will go to any length necessary to get their way, even if it means losing some of their members to banning. These groups are also your primary source of the misogynistic, homophobic, and racial commentary, as well as the jokes about kitten women. Because that is the type of people they are.
It would be nice to see some new animations and emotes in general, for FREE. I’ve not played a whole lot of MMO’s, but GW2 is severely lacking in that department, and it shouldn’t be on the players dime to update.
As for custom packs that you can earn for fighting animations and such, that is also a great idea, but I’d like to see Arenanet deliver some additional content to liven things up without trying to coerce people into paying for it. It’s a part of the game that has always felt incomplete.
The stream didn’t seem horridly unprofessional to me, but it would be nice if the guys could at least pretend to be as excited about the other classes as they are the warrior class. It’s almost like it was some menial token task they had to perform when talking about rangers.
There are duels in almost every MMO so far and people never complained
.Im talking about games that i played and never herd complains on duels.everything u people say are selfish and makes no sense but whatever i wont bother.I can understand people that whine about lack of some content but people that whine about having some normal content its just…..pffff.The fact is that on latest live interwiev Anet said that they will try to add duels in game,if you want prof then go and check youtube
.Im done with this,i will wait for my duels
You’re done? Done with what? Making up statistics and excuses?
You’re a perfect example of why this game doesn’t need dueling. Go play one of those other games if they were so l33t that no-one complained.
No its not Neural cause there is no reason for it?Why whouold majority of people lose duels cause of minority? All of those reasons u people saying are dumbest things i ever read in my life.Open World PVP can just improve game and Anet said that they will try to add duels and that makes me happy
You stated that in all the other MMO’s that dueling exists in, that no-one has complained. You’re pulling stats out of your backside. Prove your statement.
… so far and people never complained.
That’s false, and you know it.
…because a large proportion of the community would like it as a feature.
Source please.
I got a single fortune scrap the other night… from a black lion chest. :/
Seeing this thread hit the second page makes me feel like ranger’s have finally given up on Anet and are tired of repeating themselves and are waiting for the greener pasture coming out in April.
I don’t know that it is necessarily true, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
It would be nice to recolor them afterwards, especially if I’m thinking about the dyes I’ve unlocked.
It would be nice if you could use the dyes you’ve unlocked to color the accessories. The limited number of choices on them make it difficult to do much.
I noticed quite a bit of lag last night, but oddly it seemed to be most prominent while doing specific things, such as swapping weapons.
good greif do you people get caught up in details. I’m not going to bother spelling it out, you’ll never see the forest for the trees. I was throwing out kittening examples. The only ones relevant to my own view point were the last three questions that I listed as my own questions.
1. Mounts, no, just no
2. PRecursor crafting will come soon (the only confirmed thing of your questions)
3. Those were mentioned in 2009-2010, not confirmed, so maybe in the future, but don’t wait for it1. yes, but it will be pretty hard and buying it of the tp might still be easier (speculation)
2.uh, because it isn’t so important?
3. they can’t? I haven’t played ranger yet.EDIT: looking at your blog, just stop playing if you hate the game that much. Why even bother if you don’t like it? (not trying to be rude, but just take a break for a couple of months, it might make the game fun again, if you ever found it to be fun…)
Did you even read my post, or did you just skim it and assume that you know what I said? I made my point quite clear in regards to precursor crafting. Arenanet has not stated at any point that the current precursors will be able to be crafted. They have only made statements that “you will be able to craft precursors in the future” which was stated right along side the info about new legendary weapons. They refuse to verify that their statements apply to current precursors, even though they’ve been asked.
Personally I don’t give a skritt’s tail about your personal opinion on mounts. I don’t care to see them either, but it’s a constant question on the forums that could easily be addressed.
The topic was not so much about unanswered questions as it is about the methods Arenanet has been using to answer any questions that people ask.
I’m going to keep this as best I can in the “constructive” ball field of things, however it’s a subject that I get a little passionate about.
In the realm of communication between Arenanet and the players, I have constantly found myself feeling stonewalled when asking questions of Arenanet.
While some questions are never answered, the ones that do get attention are generally answered in cryptic fashion. Often times this lead to speculation as to the real answer, as well as breeds distrust among players who feel they can’t get the truth out of Arenanet.
Some examples that I’ve seen:
1. For the past year +months (since game start), people have been asking about mounts in GW2. Leaving the door open on this is great if you have any intention of doing something like that in the future, but good grief. If the structure of the code in GW2 can’t handle it, making it literally impossible to do, quit stringing players out with the hope of getting mounts and ADMIT IT. Don’t try and lead people on in hopes that they’ll spend more gems while waiting around for you to give an answer they don’t want to hear.
2. Precursor crafting. Again, if you cannot implement crafting of current precursors (i.e. The Lover), then ADMIT IT. Stop leading people on. Head devs have eluded to precursor crafting for some time, but the commentary has been consistently vague, leaving things wide open for Arenanet to introduce crafting, but only for precursors that are used to make new legendaries that have yet to be introduced.
Face the facts on it. Yes, if you come out and admit that you can’t, or won’t implement crafting for current precursors, then I will stop playing for a while until something else catches my attention. Big Deal. Look at my gem purchases for the past half year. It won’t go much lower than that.
3. Player/Guild housing. Can your software handle such a thing, or no? If we will never get guild halls or player housing because the original devs were not given the go ahead to structure the code to allow such things, SAY SO.
One of the worst types of deception is to string people along by toying with their dreams and desires when you know for a fact that you can never deliver on what they wish for. It is unethical, and in some cases cruel. Arenanet needs to grow up and start communicating the cold facts about some of these things to the playerbase, and simply accept that people will leave the game. Stop obsessing so much over the short term, because in the long term you’ll risk suffering a much larger player loss when the truth comes out on it’s own, instead of being up front about things with players now.
My personal questions right now that I’d like straight, truthful, answers on are many, but here’s a couple:
1. Will I ever be able to craft The Lover?
2. Why does Arenanet refuse to fix the visual/physical end of the plank in the Troll’s End jumping puzzle? (and don’t say “it’s challenging”. The dumb thing is so far off the mark it’s luaghable.)
3. Why can’t rangers permanently stow their pets?
A Norn and an Asura walk into a bar.
“OW! My Knee!” shouted the Norn.
body-body collisions would be a disaster for several reasons, the least of which is that the very hour it was implemented, people would park and AFK their characters at key points in jump puzzles that would make it impossible for others to finish them.
Will I get generic “don’t let the door hit you on the way out” comments if I say I’m ready to leave this game? Perhaps I’ve been thinking of it the wrong way all the time. I wanted a game I could devote my time to but I see now there is absolutely nothing for me to do outside of these updates.
Run dungeons – for what purpose?
Farm gold – for what purpose?
Champ trains – lol
WvW – for what purpose?
PvP – for what purpose? There’s only one fun profession (Ele of course) my personal story died over a year ago and the RNG is worse than any game I have played, ever.
>run around in circles
>log out
Definitely. I log in now and then when I’m extremely bored, but as soon as EQNL comes out I’m going to focus on that. It holds a lot more promise and interest than rehashed rehashed rehashed content.
At least GW2 is free once you pay for it. If there’s any hope for it, it’s no loss monetarily to me to just wait and see if it actually goes somewhere.
Sounds like it could possibly be dragon related then! O.O
Nah everybody hopes its a dragon. I’m rooting for her in becoming our ally and joining that new group forming up that has Rox and Braham in it. They still need a sylvari
I hope not, enemies becoming allies is so played out. I also wonder if every group HAS to have one of every race in it, seems silly.
It is silly. However there are some people who only play one race and are vested in that race. So to not include a race is to exclude that player. It has more to do with inclusivity than anything else.
There are people in this game who play and like nothing but Asura or nothing but Norn. Shrugs.
I need the names of those who play only asura, for a . . . yes, a science project. I’m testing this improvement on the Superior Trebuchet and need . . . assistants.
Your enemies would cower, sending you a surrender message that says “Please, anything! Just don’t send us another one!”
1. visual edges vs. physical edges.
2. Legendaries not being account bound
3. Introduction of D.R.
4. The use of soulbound mechanics
5. Reliance on gimmicks to create “challenge” and “variety”
Idk why a-net doesn’t have something in place that wont allow you to delete a character with account bound items on it, or indeed why we do not have an item restore function on our account’s, other games have it, why not gw2?.
Because they make more money this way.
Why stop at Mesmer?
Why don’t we create the supreme class that has:
-Portals & illusions
-Stealth
-Aegis and virtues
-warbanners and mobile utilities
-Multiple attunements
-Multiple HP pools
-Changeable weapon kitsI know I’m forgetting something.
Pets too?
lol who am I kidding, Rangers having nothing good about them (except being punching bags)
This message has been brought to you by The Anti-Ranger Lobbyists for Change
Just make Rangers that supreme class. Problem solved.
Not that the devs read every thread on the forum, but it would be nice to hear a devs perspective on the feasability of some of the suggestions. Whether or not, for example, weather could be more dynamic, so it rains in different areas at times, etc., instead of everything being static.
For the record, when i pug, I don’t have a long list of wants and needs. If I’m pugging I know I’m going to get the bottom of the barrel play how you wants. Even if I give a description. People don’t read.
Do me a favor and don’t join my elitist stench parties. Because it isn’t like I routinely carry cleric guards and bow bears whenever I’m too nice to kick, which happens.
The reason you hate me here is because I’m trying to stop this at the root of the problem: all of you think you know what’s right and you don’t. Thus you spread false information which spreads into unknowing pugs. It is your denial that is the issue here. No one would complain if you didn’t say things like “My build is fine! It’s better than the meta! I’m right and I don’t care how much proof you have you’re wrong!”
I feel sorry for anyone you try to help by teaching them.
Edit: I also want to make this point. If you want to play the way you want, by all means, but don’t say I’m a terrible person for wanting to play how I want, and thus not letting bads into my party.
(and there’s the core of the problem. You think you’re better at the game than everyone else)
I’ve had all my mats except for the precursor since about July or August last year. Been playing since Nov. 2012. I’ve not seen a single precursor drop.
Obtaining it via gold is the only way, which is utterly sad. The Mystic Toilet is called “toilet” for a reason. A thread recently on the forum was posted showing the drop rates from many tries, and it pretty much proved that using the Mystic forge as a method of obtaining a precursor was simply financial suicide.
I know a precursor will drop for me eventually. It’ll be the one that is only worth about 30gold, whichever it is.
I would posit that encouraging a newbie to waste gold and time on gear and strategies that are not efficient or as good (I’m assuming that he does not want to spend hours in a single dungeon) is a terrible thing and you should get in trouble for griefing.
This implies that all people play for the same reasons you do… to do the content in the fastest, more efficient means possible. However, it’s downright foolish to assume such. Some people play simply to play, and therefore have just as much right to play how they please as you do. So what if it’s not the most efficient, or provides the most DPS. If the group as a whole is enjoying itself (after all, this is supposed to be a game about the ‘journey’ not the ‘destination’ as I keep being told), then what is the issue?
He’s asking for people to accept rangers into their groups.
But most people automatically assume the ranger is terrible without giving them a chance. That’s the issue here, and he’s simply pointing out that while yes some do suck, not all do and not all should be automatically rejected based on the failings of others.
Because the majority of people do not want to spend more time than they need to in a dungeon (sure you can say that not everyone wants to play that way, but the majority DO)
Ah yes… the whole ‘must get the cookie noooooooooow’ mentality that has infected so many. Gods forbid you take 5 or even 10 more minutes. You might miss a shiny you could have gotten because you had time for ‘just 1 more run.’ Such mentality is a disease.
You know what mentality is a disease? One that doesn’t get having a run last 10 minutes longer can actually be too much for a player like myself, with a family, house, job, etc. so stop telling me that that time doesn’t matter, because it matters to me, and other people who don’t have all the time in the world.
Also, it isn’t usually 10 minutes. If I run with an optimized group versus a free for all, on average, it’s about an hour longer.
Stop telling me false information. Stop spreading the real disease.
Elitism is the disease that is at the source of the OP’s problem, and you reek of it. Half your posts are making excuses for the snobbish attitude others have taken towards people who don’t play exactly as you or others think they should, and when things started to go against you, you suddenly are all about family and responsibility.
Taking an hour longer is an issue, but your attitude towards people who don’t play exactly as you think they should is quite obvious. Do GW2 a favor and when you start a dungeon party where you are so lowered that you have to dredge the bottom of the barrel of the rest of us players with the LFG tool, be sure to tag it “elite” so people know to avoid you since they are so inferior to your god like gamer status.
The stubbornness that Anet has on this issue makes me wonder how many of the devs and current staff were spawn campers when they were teenagers.

.Im done with this,i will wait for my duels
