Let’s see… Introducing materials that require large stockpiles to do anything and thus consume much space, and then selling a gem store item that boosts stack size. Oh sure that is merely just a solution to a problem. 250 worked fine before all these ascended materials existed. Though I guess it is pretty brilliant to manufacture a problem and then sell the solution.
I’m pretty sure it was planned that way.

Large spike damage like this, on a forecast move, gives the designers a way to actually threaten players while still giving players an easily accessible counter play.
Or in the case of GW2, it gives Anet the chance to dish out champion level damage without having to reward the players for conquering it.

First they allow looting it multiple times to revive the island, now they undo it and kill the map again. Nice job anet.

Toxic alliance mobs by far. They’re not hard, but just annoying. Immobilize, torment, cripple, every condition in the game that makes them annoying to run by if I dont want to fight them.
And when you kill them they are downed first… pfff they irritate me.
Adding the downed state to the toxic guys was a really lame attempt at bringing some aspect of PvP into the PvE realm. It should be left for PvP.

I’m trying to find information on how the trading post orders things when you use “add to my lowest listing”.
If you sell an item for 1silver, and then someone comes in and adds their item for 1 silver, it is my understanding that a buyer who purchases one item will get yours first.
If you add another item to your lowest listing, does it slot that item in with your first listing, thus putting it in front of the 2nd seller?
Also: I know nothing of modding wiki’s, but it would be nice if this info was on the wiki page about the trading post.

So this past week we’ve dealt with DDoS attacks, apparently.
I find it curious that LA map chat is suddenly filled with a lot more gold sellers. Has anyone else noticed this?

At one point in the past it was actually a way to make gold. But a ton of super cheap fine-level dyes, throw them into the forge, check the prices on the results, sell the greens and high-value blues, and then repeat until gone.
However the cats out of the bag on that one. If someone is buying dyes at 1silver or so in order to forge them, then maybe there’s still profit in it, but I’m not up on the math and statistics enough to say yes or no there.

In the interview Colin gave to I think it was Eurogamer there was an interesting section. It went something like 350 people working at Anet and they cannot be all working on the LS, so an expansion is in the making there is no doubt there.

I see on various sites information about buy orders and sell orders etc., but I’m not seeing actual numbers on transactions.
There can be 10000 on demand, and 10000 on buy, but if the two never agree on a price, nothing moves.
Deeper into my question, what I’m trying to figure out is how people know when to give up on relisting an item.
I have an item listed for Xs XXc, and when I listed it, I put it at 5c below the previous seller.
Then someone comes in and lists like 40 of that item just a couple copper below me.
This is where the volume of material moving from hand to hand is most important, because if only 1 item sells per day, I either have to relist or wait over a month hoping that no-one else lists lower than me.
Do we have enough people online at any given time to provide decent product movement? Are these people that list 250 of an item worth 72s just super rich with nothing better to do? Or is it really worth it to just be patient?

If you pay attention to the psychological aspect of what is ACTUALLY written, it’s plain to see it’s just another thinly disguised poke at the “zerker Nerf” which is in dozens of other threads and this one is just as exaggerated and silly as the rest of them. Granted that the ascended gear has been completely against everything that GW1 was founded on concerning grind, players having statistically equal gear, and encouraging build creativity and diversity, the damage has been done however. I don’t think a dozen or more of the same threads is gonna change any of it. Especially ones that aren’t straightforward about their motives in the first place.

I’m not happy with the fact that one of the best crafting challenges in the game results in armor that has stats set in stone, coupled with the fact that Anet has proven they are willing to change or even completely remove said attributes/stats (see magic find).
It is a huge time/gold sink for results that can not evolve with the a “flavor of the month” style balancing.So it’s about the uncertainty of stats you grinded for remaining consistent in the future which, in turn, stems from the outrage of the rebalancing of the critical damage modifier. My point really wasn’t about the increase in the stats.
My point was that I gave up on crafting ascended armor because it takes such a long time to create while Anet can just change the attributes at a whim.
The same would apply for exotics if that were the case. I wouldn’t want to gather 350 charged lodestones and the rest of the mats needed to craft Mjolnir if it was more than just a skin that could be transmuted to a weapon with stats that I like.
I like to craft. Crafting is where I set my goals and I feel the most accomplished. I’m in that 0.01% of players who just doesn’t “get” combat well enough to solo champions in Orr, or solo Lupi, or whatever the latest claim to fame is, so I set different goals. Making a full set of ascended armor was one of them.
Ascended crafting is fantastic, the results, however, are not remotely worth the effort.

You don’t need Ascended armor. The stat increase over Exotics is minor. So if you’ve given up on getting these, you can still play the game as normal.
You are assuming that I want ascended gear for the stats.
The attributes matter, but the little extra that ascended gear adds is not much of a concern to me.

Some know that I was one of the biggest fans of the ascended crafting system. In fact, while I’m “neither hot nor cold” on time gating, I think the implementation of the whole set up was great. Yes, some people have issues with a zillion bloodstone dust piles, and I understand how that’s an issue, but let me explain what made me sell all the Damask that I have, along with squares and ingots.
It boils down to one thing, and this one thing, I believe, may be a huge deterrent for a lot of others as well.
The issue I have isn’t the crafting methods, it’s the results.
You spend a ton of time and materials to make ascended gear, but you are stuck with the stats. If you choose wrongly, or, more likely, if Anet decides they are going to nuke a stat and rebuild it to be less effective, etc., you are screwed.
The upcoming changes to critical damage are what really brought this problem to the front of my mind. I don’t want to spend a ton of time gathering materials and crafting, etc. just to create a pow/prec/tough set, only to have Anet decide later on that Precision is part of the dps problem and cripple it with some stupid modification. (hypothetically).
With that in mind I’ve simply stopped all progress on ascended material. If I gather enough stuff along the way to create an ingot, bolt, or something along those lines, I’ll make it and sell it on the TP.
I’m hoping that if they take Jeweler to 500, it will be interesting. As such I’m saving my metals and gems along with other items, but for ascended armor, forget it.

Leave it to Anet to find a way to make the advertised percentage invalid. They need to state the actual chance. Advertising as 20% is a scam.

I’m disappointed that back last year, John Smith admitted that the ecto rate was bugged and had been accidently nerfed.
In a way, I respect the transparency, but darn, it would have been so much easier if they just steathily changed it back.
Now, we have weekly threads on bad ecto salvage rates and will continue to get them for the foreseeable future.
You neglect to mention that Anet first stated that everything was fine and there was no error.

Things I think would improve the gemstore, plus things I’d like to see.
-An armor section, divided by weight, with every standard armor set with appropriate gem prices (this is two fold, if the gem prices are right, it let’s people buy a whole set on sight for gems, instead of having to craft them or, worse yet, go item by item through an un-sortable trading post, clicking “preview” endlessly to find a look they like).
-At least 25 sets of town clothing for each sex of each race, broken into pieces so people can mix and match.
-Prices lower than 100gems for little cosmetic things.
-Prices lower than 20gems for individual emotes/animations (with 100 or so to choose from)
-Sunglasses that can be worn in combat (hey, don’t look at me, they broke that wall down with the Quaggan backpack)
-Swimming suits
Basically, yeah, I’d like the gemstore to look like a freaking store, not a mall kiosk

This keeps coming up, but I’m starting to wonder if that is truly the issue. You’d think that for the 3rd night in a row they’d be a little more prepared with how to stop it when it happened.

Not saying that Arenanet can prevent such attacks, just seems that they would be ready to do what they can do, if anything.

Well I run out of Thick Leather/Elder Wood every couple of days but I maintain a fairly steady supply of over 1,000 Mithril Ingots.
I salvage everything the same way(except using the cheaper kit on cloth armor).
I mine every ore node as often as I chop trees. I don’t run across rich mithril nodes much so that shouldn’t matter.
My best guess is that I am getting mithril from weapons, armors and the occassional trinket while the other two only comes from one weapons or armor.
I gather everything I come across and since I’m trying to get my magic find up a bit, I salvage everything that is green, blue, or white after a quick price check. As a result, I have around 3000 mithril ingots now. Maybe they’ll be worth something someday. lol.

Account bound dyes make the most sense from a player perspective, but Anet is obsessed with gold. As such it is likely that threads like this are seen as something to poke fun at among their ranks. A player with 5 characters that wants Abyss dye for each of them is far more likely to pay real cash for gold to buy the gems, than a player who could just farm the gold to buy one dye for his/her whole account.
tl:dr: It’s all about the money, dyes will never be anything but soul-bound

It actually does, once you open the tp via the npc once. If you close the window and dont move, then rightclick on an item in your inventory to sell or buy more you can click your pick up tab and collect.
Interesting. Never noticed that one before. Usually I’m just running in for a quick pickup and run into problems when I go via the UI. At least it works at some level.

Would it be possible to set up an invisible bubble around the Trading Post NPC’s that detects a players presence, so that when the player opens the TP via the UI it acts as if you’ve opened it via “f”? It’s kinda silly when you are standing right there and it won’t let you take your gold/items.
