Aw, what the hell, one last time:
AC: Fine
CM: Fine
TA: Fine, increase incentive for doing Aetherpath
…TA is not fine. Its missing a path. TAFU mysteriously disappeared at some point in the first season of LS.
…
Wasn’t that path removed because of LS or something? If so, perhaps consider putting TAFU in fractals.
But what I think Spoj was getting at is this:
Deleting content for the sake of the living story people is a slap in the face. It’s the same principle behind why the fractal reset was ridiculous. Add and construct, don’t delete and destroy. More choice, more content, more options.
Chris please smack Mike O’Brien upside the head to wake him up out of his fantasy world. His entire post illustrates the problem that a large part of the community has with Anets communications. Instead of actually communicating he made a PR statement and left. This is the core of the problem. Something is thrown out there without any actual discussion one way or the other. What you’ve been doing is what Mike should have been doing after making this thread and that is interact with the community.
Of course I completely disagree with his statement that “If we make optimistic promises and then can’t deliver on them, everyone suffers”. I pretty much convinced that what has been happening for the last year, the non-communicative nature, has damaged the game far more than a few unkept promises could ever have done. While I don’t have the numbers, I feel confident that the game really isn’t in that good of a condition overall.
The living Story, WvW, Dungeons, SPvP all have problems that only a massive overhaul can fix. An overhaul that can only be accomplished with the help of the community, but only a community that wants to help. You have lost a good portion of the forum community. Personally I don’t think much will change, because I lack faith that management will make it happen. I’m still willing to try, but Anet needs to completely change their tune if they/you want to succeed. The name Arenanet was always positive, but it has been thrown into the wind.I will not be smacking Mo and please note I am part of the Studio Management Team. We are doing our best to reconnect (all of us). I have explained in the thread what the issues have been and why it is important that we have our stance.
I am not going to explain the points again and note that I am not going to be responding to nonconstructive posts. This way I can stay focused on the task at hand which is starting the CDI again and having some awesome conversation and design discussion.
Chris
P.S: If you want to see some of my answers to your points that I have made please look at my post history on this thread. if you are still unhappy then i doubt there is anything I can do or say to change your mind.
I think this is the problem right here. You/Arenanet thinks that holding onto that stance so rigidly is correct, while from my point of view it the cause of all the problems that keep getting blown up bigger and bigger. You as a whole are convinced that your reasons for not straying are correct, while my experiences tell me differently. Let loose of that rigidness and you’ll find that you can tell things without going into specifics. You can not let fear of disappointment guide you. Fear is always a bad motivator and it is fear that is the basis of that stance.
Personally I think we (I) could give a better sense of future goals in the upcoming CDIs. But no specifics.
I am definitely going to try to be more inclusive in terms of high levels road map for features etc.
Chris
I think the best way communication could be improved is to give the high level direction of the game, every few months, and only announce specifics when time draws near to release.
It seems ANET is simply bumbling about and has no real direction. So here’s my recommendation. Going forward, please define your plans as a company, in broad terms, every so often. Fulfill those plans, and announce when you are about to release that content.
What shouldn’t happen is that you announce a high level plan, fail to follow through, and bounce all over the game making random changes and updates that seem to be relatively meaningless. The company seems to lack a definitive direction. Decide where you’re going, and once you have, be honest and open about that decision.
A chart:
Gather player feedback—>Decide on a plan of action—>Announce broad plan—>Make content—>Announce when content is done—>Deliver. Then repeat.
What has been happening:
Gather player feedback—>No decision on a plan of action—>Announce broad plan—>Make content not relevant to plan—>Announce plan has been delayed—>Don’t deliver content relevant to plan—>Deliver content that wasn’t part of the plan—>Go silent/ask for random feedback on non-related items throughout—>Apologize.
It makes players wonder what’s going on over there.
Aw, what the hell, one last time:
AC: Fine
CM: Fine
TA: Fine, increase incentive for doing Aetherpath
SE: Path 2 is like 2x as long as the others but has the same reward, maybe increase a bit because it does require more coordination.
COF: P3 requires more coordination, increase reward relative to 1 and 2.
HotW: Not been here in forever, but from what I remember the bosses were HP sponges. HP sponges are bad and so so so boring. Now that you’re nerfing FGS DPS, please consider making bosses have less HP or at least have different mechanics so you aren’t wanting to stab yourself during a multi-minute boss fight.
COE: I like these paths, they’re pretty nice.
Arah: Rebalance gold rewards, work on some bug fixing that’s been noted elsewhere, story mode of course has been a joke for a while.
Fractals: fix cliffside bug, offer more ascended gear from pristine relics, allow us to do something with ascended rings, maybe make a merchant with fractal weapons for LOTS of relics as to not devalue them but at the same time allow people to feel like they aren’t gambling. The reward structure for fractals needs the most work. Don’t time gate encounters with living story scripts. It gets old fast.
Other than that I’ll reiterate the sentiment expressed by others; new content is preferable. I’d even pay money if you made something like GW1 FoW or UW or some other multi-person, instanced content that requires more than spamming 1. That may include looking at AI of encounters as well.
Edit: I’d pay 1600 gems for FoW/UW, or something similar.
Edit edit: AC has that one stupid time gate event in P3. That’s no good either.

Guys please. Reel in your angry kittens. Lets put effort into what they are asking for and then see if it does anything.
Lilith, here’s Chris’s summary of the Fractal CDI:
1: Dredge:
Dredge is frustrating and this is compounded by the overall length of the Fractal.
2: Make rewards more accessible and relevant:
- Allow players to spend their unwanted rewards to get rewards they actually need.
- Look at the general drop rate within Fractals.
- Take a look at the delivery of items to ensure they are more useful to individual players.
- Create a global dungeon reward system using a token system for example.
- Think of new rewards that cater more toward to Fractal players in general.
- Think about risk vs reward vs Time with global rewards.
- Do not depreciate the significance of certain rewards like Fractal skins.
- Clearer communication/info i needed around the Fractal Weapon boxes.
3: Re-rolling:
Work on the higher priority issues before tackling this area.
4: Level Reset:
- Do not do a reset moving forward.
5: Challenge:
- More of an emphasis on Instabilities and core game play challenge rather than simply agony moving forward.
- Add new types of challenge rather than reworking existing areas.
- Focus more on additional paths that reward players dependent on the interaction of said path. Note this also includes different strategies of goals achieved in certain encounters.
- Thanks for the tons of ideas for new encounters which the team has read and will impact our design moving forward.
6: Lore:
- Continue to have lore be a pillar of Fractals but ensure it doesn’t get in the way of the flow of the experience. For example, no un-skippable cut scenes.
-Thanks for the tons of ideas for new lore themes and gameplay which the team has read and will impact our design moving forward.
7: Tiers:
- Do a pass on which fractals are included in which tier in regard to risk vs reward vs time.
8: Accessibility:
- Think of ways to make it easier to get player’s into the Fractals, especially friends of existing players, specifically in regard to AR.They asked, we responded, they delivered. On point 1. So maybe 7 years later they can get to the other 7 points. I’ll come back then.
Oh you forgot they removed 30 levels?
My subsequently perma-banned account remembers
I was at 80 too. I lost 50 levels. The Fractals CDI came AFTER the Fractured disaster. Hence point 4 on Chris’s list.

we’re a minority and resources are finite.
Were we always a minority or is this case of misplaced cause and effect? Are we a minority because most people that are interested in dungeons have moved on from GW2 or are we a minority because most people like casual open world content? If the latter, why focus on making new dungeons/changes at all if there’s no general desire and no ability to monetize them?
I’d like to clarify a few points.
The Competitive Team is responsible for all more-advanced content in the game. This includes: PvP, WvW, and profession skill balance/game balance in general. This is a pretty big group of areas of responsibility, as you can see. The team’s resources are spoken for in areas that will have impact on the most amount of players, or on changes that are less of impact to them, resource-wise (smaller projects/changes). As such, we have no immediate plans to revamp dungeons due to this resource constraint. That’s not to say that the team will never have time, in the future, to do large projects like the TA Aetherpath or similar with other dungeons. As Mike O’Brien said in his recent post, if we ever permanently stop working on a particular area of the game, we will tell you all.
Your feedback from this sub-forum has been reaching the team. As you recall, CC Danicia was active here in the past and delivered that feedback to developers. We will continue monitoring your feedback here and responding as we can.
Something that would help is if you could gather a thread for each dungeon (perhaps you’ve all already created one per dungeon?), and list out the major changes that you feel the dungeons would need to make them better, in concise bullet points. That way it’s easier for us to provide them to the development team.
What are we working on right now? Feature Pack 2 (in ~two more weeks), Season 2 of the Living World (coming back this fall), the WvW Fall Tournament, and the World Tournament Series PvP global tournament are just some of the things we are currently working on that we can tell you about right now.
Thanks for posting.
Here’s the reality for most people in these forums.
This game, over the last 2 years, has not made PvE group content a priority.
You’ve added a TA path, removed a TA path, and added fractals. For better or worse, that’s the reality. You ignored this forum for the better part of last year, your dungeon team was booted (RIP Robert) and your focus has been on other aspects of the game.
That’s fine, it’s just some of us were hoping that the pendulum would eventually swing back our way. When it did, the result was the Fractured patch.
I came from GW1, and over 2 years in that game every single map, dungeon, mission was group oriented. I was hoping for more of that. I understand GW2 is a different game, and open world/living story solo content has become your focus. Again, that’s fine, but it’s just not what I’m looking for in a game. I appreciate the honesty those two developers in the YouTube video provided.
If and when your company decides to focus on organized group content, I will be back in a heartbeat. As I said, I’ll keep checking in for updates.
Edit: And before I get the “TEQ AND WURM!!!” response, let me say that those are wonderfully designed encounters that were ruined by having to AFK for long periods to get into an open map. Instances are advantageous for organized group content, because they avoid the chaos and disorganization that arises when you play with tons of people who you don’t know, who you can’t communicate effectively with, and who may not share the same objectives/goals that you have.
(edited by Nevets Crimsonwing.5271)
1,200 people watching the TOL 2 right now, compared to 2k who watched DnT
Entirely disappointing.
A few thoughts:
1. Let’s examine the monetization aspect. The argument runs something like this: if dungeons don’t make ANET money, they won’t spend time developing them.
It’s a pretty good argument, and it seems the living world casuals who like to spam talk with 100 people at a party three times/character buy enough crap from the gem store to keep that content at the forefront.
What I don’t understand is the PvP focus though. I mean, besides some finishers, what content are the PvPers buying that makes that game mode worth $150k tournaments? I mean the dungeon tournament DnT held had more viewership than many of the PvP tournaments.
Lastly, I had really hoped GW2 was going to go the expansion route, and that this new map couldn’t possibly be the only thing the team was seriously working on. Again though, the GW1 model must not have been as profitable as the gem store model. It’s a shame really. At least from a pure numbers game, I’ve purchased the box and maybe $10 in gems (can’t remember if I bought my riding broom with real money or with gold) since launch. In the first two years of GW1 I had bought what, the original game and all three expansions? So nearly 4x the amount of money that I’ve spent on this game. I think it’s a shame that my play style, and presumable OUR play style, is in the minority.
2. Dungeon content is better because it makes me actually think, at least relative to living world or open world content. The zerg event focus of open world is mind numbingly boring. The open world farming meta of spam staff guardian 1 is mind numbingly boring. The living world content is interesting MAYBE the first time through but has little replayability in my eyes. The reason I prefer dungeons is that each player matters, and it requires an effort of coordination amongst group members to complete. Hard coordination? No, definitely not. But some is required to make things run smoothly, and that something is better than none. The great jungle wurms and Teq are probably the open world exceptions to this rule, and I think they’d make great instanced content, but what makes them a drag in my mind is the huge ramp up of AFK time necessary to get into a decent map. Who wants to AFK for longer than the duration of the fight just to participate?
3. Given the above, I am going to enter my second hiatus. Not that anyone cares, but I simply don’t have a desire to play right now, and I won’t be back until something else piques my interest. To those of you I’ve pugged and grouped with over the last few years, thanks for the fun and I hope I see you in game somewhere down the road. For now, adieu.
P.S I will probably still forum lurk, because I enjoy seeing all of your shenanigans.
(edited by Nevets Crimsonwing.5271)
I cringed when I read the title. You masochist.
I’m surprised no one else on that thread brought up that FotM are seriously broken atm, anyway….
Cliffside you mean? Why add fuel to the fire?
When I saw the Pristine Fractal Relic was required for the ascended vine back piece, I was incredibly distraught. Because of this one requirement the entire thing felt unobtainable.
I too had a terrible experience early on with Fractals, and constantly found myself having to deal with rude comments about both myself and fellow players that had the audacity to try and learn the mechanics of a Fractal during a respective dungeon run. Why didn’t we just use youtube? Why did the Fractal dungeon take 90 minutes rather than 20 minutes? Why did you bring a Necromancer? Noobs.
It was toxic and off putting.
But you know what happened? After I was bummed out about this requirement I returned to the Fractals of the Mist starting area and joined a casual group using the LFG tool. I met some nice people in there, and had a fun (and rather quick) run at the dungeon culminating in 1/5th of the necessary Pristine Relics for my sought after item.
I have also run several more fractals since then and am finding myself enjoying them enough that I would do them even after I have enough Pristine Relics for the vine.
For all those that are frustrated about this, I think there are a few things to remember:
1- Fractals has had its difficulty and reward structure revamped since a lot of us last played.
2- The LFG tool is very handy and a lot of talented dungeon players can be met in there.
3- You might sometimes have a bad experience, but more often than not you will meet good people online.
4- Ignore snarky comments and be sure to follow the lead of experienced players. You don’t really need someone shouting commands at you and you can figure out most of the mechanics by observing others in these Fractal dungeons.
5- Almost all players are in full exotic nowadays, and most are probably in a mix of Ascended/Exotic gear. When Fractals came out, a lot of players were using green and yellow gear and this made the dungeons particularly difficult.
I am not opposed to having other options for purchasing a Mist Stone— in fact I think it is a great idea to have WvW be a second avenue for this. However, I also feel that players should give Fractals a shot and be sure to run with at least a few fellow guild mates for the best possible outcome.
Glad you had a better experience this time around. If you ever get to levels 40+, I’d love to run with you. Good luck with everything!
(edited by Nevets Crimsonwing.5271)
5 level 1 runs? That’s nothing. We have waaaaaay better reasons to go yell at dragonite ore.
But DUDE! Level 1 takes 3+ hours then my party will fall apart and I won’t be rewarded!!!1111LEETIST SCUM!
My point is that it doesn’t matter whether you or me like FoTM or not, neither is the respect for liking it or not. The point is that doing FoTM is an official requirement for getting a specific reward, and I simply cannot respect people who QQ on the forums because they do not want to do something but want the reward – because it looks like spoilt children begging their mommy to let them play videogames before doing their homework.
This is a game. The goal is to have fun. I believe it’s fair to expect players to do a certain amount of work to achieve rewards, but in the name of everyone having the most fun possible, I believe that players should have options as to the type of work they could do to earn them. Some players really don’t enjoy Fractals content, but really want the reward. Your solution is “do the content anyways or never get the reward.” That’s certainly one way to go, but I think there’s room for “do something else that you do enjoy, and also get the reward you want.” Obviously they can’t please everyone, they can’t make it so that you can earn the reward by just killing ambients all day, but I think there can be reasonable compromises.
5 fractal relics seems like a reasonable compromise to me, rather than say, 150+.
This argument boils down to this: “I want X but don’t want to do the work ANET says is equal to the value of X.”
It’s like… “I want a Liadri mini but don’t want to beat Liadri.”
Or… “I want the fractal backpiece but don’t want to do fractals.”
Or… “I want COF armor but don’t want to do COF.”
Or… “I want this tentacle back piece but don’t want to do all the scavenger hunt tasks required to get it.”
Edit: The time investment required to get 5 relics is far less than gathering the foxfire clusters, at least according to what I’ve read.
Btw https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/No-Mawdrey-For-Me-I-Guess/first#post4292890
CRY ME A GOSH DARN RIVER
Lol there’s a thread up now requesting 1000 WvW tokens instead of the 5 relics. Someone posted that it took him/her over 3 hours to beat a level 1. Idk what kind of horror was going on in that group.
Lightenbird after reading your comments here I’ve decided to do fractals
Took the group i joined around 2:34 minutes to reach 3rd map’s last boss.
By this time we got 1 of the players afk multiple times and eventually leave.
We got 1 of the other guys start raging and make 1 more of the players leave.
So basically I’ve been put into situation I’ve spend around 3h and not being able to acquire the item i was there for.
No offense but I see no logic for you to be here except deliberately trolling people who just ask for mare variety.
Thank you for your involvement in this topic but you have no reason to be opposite to this idea which is just an improvement and adds variety.
If you like Fractals and trolling people in fractals that much – do it but you have no right to troll wvw players who ask for support here.
It’s a game we all bought with money for different reasons – you may enjoy fractals same as we bought this game because we enjoy wvw.
This is the most troll post I’ve ever seen. 5 nomad bearbows who have never done fractals could complete level 1 in under 3 hours. Did you by any chance forget armor or weapons?
Gz. Just tried for the first time, the seed pods bugged on me multiple times such that the punch skill did no damage. Not sure why. Of course I died. GG.
I’m just starting the set of achievements for the final battle. This was the first thought that came to my mind… I’m sure people will say “be good lulz so you only have to try once.”
To which I will respond: I will try.
Lol I agree.
1515151515
It does seem a little lacking… They worked for almost 8 months and all we get is 4 releases?
That doesn’t bode well for the future of this game…
Unless they’ve been focusing on a proper expansion!
Here’s to hoping.
Last verse OP.
Someone in my group just got fractal tonic. It exists.
I stayed at 1500 range (ranger with longbow spec) and never got hit but still did not get this achievement. My pet however was in melee range and got poisoned I assume quite often. So it appears if you have a pet then you need to turn it on passive and keep it at your side. Another reason pets make rangers sad.
Oh man that sucks. My engineer at 1500 range was fine so you’re probably right…
John – (1) how do you view your role in economic management . . . although a micro person, how much, if at all, do you incorporate macro modeling into your work, (2) do you have any real life role models that you follow, and (3) what papers/blogs do you read?
1. The majority of my work ends up being on the macro side, mostly due to limited time.
2/3. Does Urijah Faber count?
I enjoy reading about Nate Silver’s work and I am a big fan of Paul Krugman. I’m not sure I would call them role models because our work is so vastly different, but I would reference their traits of success and excellent work as something to look up to.
Paul Krugman + Kittens:
Make it 2c-2s to go to HotM…
… wauw, that actually sounds more reasonable than I thought it’d be…
Or this, though there shouldn’t be a cost to access a fundamental game mode. The cost should come upon bank use, as I suggested above.
Agreed. I would even pay a one-time (or yearly, or whatever) fee in gems to have a pass to a restricted area with a bank and a TP. Just stop making me load 2-3 maps every time i have to do something.
Do you think this would cause any uproar in the community if we did a change like this, and if it did can you think of a better way to implement it?
Why complain about having a bank in the mists? I would say MOST people can just press “B” click their home BL then run right around the corner to the armorsmithing station and bam…a bank. And it is free, so just give the PvP pop a bank as well. I know I would sure love one.
Someone already put up a good argument point for this statement, that WvW isn’t always accessible. Sometimes there is a queue which for players in a hurry will cause them to spend some silver to get to a place with a bank instead of going to WvW for free.
Lolololololol someone says gems and look who shows up.
This makes me sad if nothing else.
I want to start a conversation between players and developer and instead I get bad mannered. I still love you though.
Put the banker in but give him/her a waypoint fee’s worth of silver to access. Done.
Edit:
Order of Whisper’s Banker, “Ho, traveler! With recent Asuran technology we’ve managed to bring a personal bank into the Mists… the material cost is expensive though, so if you want to access our service you must pay a fine…”
-Accept: Pay 4 silver 95 copper.
-Decline: No thanks!

So from what I can see: Engi used Toss Elixir U on the wall of Arah and got lucky with a WOR rather than smokescreen. Abe did the same solo with Guardian and beat Lupi faster. Vuln seemed to be pretty nice but here’s what I’m wondering: if you had used tornado form via Elixir X under that wall would all the damage be amplified? It’s another RNG element but I’d be curious to see if it worked.
Nice run though-thanks for advocating for us Engis
So you know how Tornado adds a damage modifier of damage dealt inside it? Could an engineer use Elixir X and toss Elixir U, and get tornado and WOR on both for more damage?
I heard fractal tonic only drops if you roll water.
Last I calculated it, 14 +5 power infusions will cost you around 2300 gold and 140 skill points. All that for +70 power.
I like min-maxing same as the next guy, but this is really diminishing returns on your investment…
This happened to my team recently too. Same as you; we all wiped, saw the hammer glitter for a second upon ressing, then it disappeared.
What was unique about the time it bugged for us is this:
The person carrying the hammer disconnected while carrying it. He then relogged, but a patch had been released, so his client updated. He couldn’t rejoin us, and we couldn’t 4 man because the hammer was gone. We thought it was related to his D/C / patching, but perhaps it wasn’t.
Definitely an issue OP, you’re not alone.
For what it’s worth, if GK ever wants to prove a point on video badly enough we will happily run with him.
I’ve got an engineer with full ascended berserker gear and trinkets, “The Predator” rifle, and 87 AR. Runes are full strength, I’m missing the +5 power infusions.
I can use Guang’s build and suggested rotation in his stead if he isn’t interested. I’d just need to know what food/sigils to bring for a given encounter. I’m relatively familiar with most dungeons save Arah, which I’m working on getting better at. I’d want a practice run through or two with the group to get a plan and logistics down.
If DnT or any others want to test the engineers DPS/utility I can act as a (hopefully) adequate 5th.
Edit: Fun fact. The approximate cost of making 14 +5 power mighty infusions, for the extra +70 power, is 140 skill points and 2,422 gold or approximately $336.

in response to another thread i thought i would bring this here. dont know why. just thought it would be something to think about or perhaps understand.
******I am the eternal PuGer
My typical time to play is between midnight and 6 am NA, ( i am a Chef as my screen name implies so my hours are all sorts of not normal.)
I will be completely honest.
IN my 2 years of PuGing.
with the exception of the occasional run with dungeon forum regulars. (which number of runs i can count on 2 hands)I have never seen 25 stacks of might.
I have never seen a 5 person DpS group.
I have never seen a Sword, Warhorn/axe Ranger.
I have never seen a dagger Necromancer.
I have to be the Gaurdian in Fractals because wall of reflection and hammer is not what being a guardian is about… 0.o
Kohler is skipped 19 out of 20 times..
Lupi is either rage quit or ranged. Melee involves at least 5 wipes. (as i am not quite good enough to solo him… YET)
i am sure i could think of more if i really thought about it.
…. ((sobs))So,
For all of you that are “good” I want to personally say KEEP BEING AWESOME! yes that involves You Colsey, Swifty, Brazil, Nike, Rising Dusk, Sanderinoa, Random fight fan, Nevets Crimsonwing, FriFox, Lillith, Spoj, Dub, Card, Domz, Dekeys, Purple Miku, Sam, Jarem, Ivan the Grey, DnT, Snow Crows, Retaliate, Ren, King, Club, …….and so many others that i am forgetting.
Keep doing what you are doing, and if nothing, realize there is at least one person out there that is eating it all up and trying to learn as best he can from what information is available. You are constant inspiration to at least me. and in turn i take what you all teach and try my very best to pass it along to the people that i come into contact with.
For all of you that want to come into the Dungeon Forums and complain.. you can Bugger right off. Instead of complaining, why don’t you be constructive and actually ask questions on how you can complete the content. Instead of trying to change the game.
((shrug))
I really don’t know where that all came from. But I had to take almost 2 weeks off from the game because I could not stand the constant crying.
Keep kicking tail gang yer all awesome.
I don’t deserve to be among that list of greats! I can’t even solo lupi!
:D
It’s weird. Whenever I join an Arah or Fractal pug, people always ask if I have another class. Engineer has been my main since launch, and I’ve slowly been working on gearing up a Guardian as well.
I mostly PvE, and lots of people just don’t understand what the class can do. They usually assume no utility and low DPS. I’ve got a full zerker ascended set on my Engi, enjoy playing the keyboard like a piano, and am pretty content.
PvP is another story. People like engis there.
Account bound items should be accessible for any character on an account without having to go to the bank.
This happens all the time in dungeons/fractals. A party member wants to switch characters-say from guardian to warrior. He has to go to LA, take off all his armor, switch characters, go to LA, put on all the armor, then go back into the instance. The purpose of account bound gear is surely to be able to use it on multiple characters on your account. Why the annoying timegate?
Are On Swift Wings, Butterflies and Viscera, and Sheltered from the Rain bugged? I have done all of these multiple times (At least 5 times each). No matter what, I cannot seem to get credit for any of them. I know how to do them and I know that I have done them without failing. The achievement symbol on the bottom stays up until I reach the asuran lab for on swift wings and the symbols stay up even after the ending cinematic in the other two achievement’s instance. I know I have seen others with On Swift Wings problems, but i anyone else having a problem getting the credit on the other two?
For “On Swift Wings,” do not go to the asuran lab until you’ve received the achievement. Once you go to the lab the enemies surrounding the friendly npcs will attack and you’ll lose the achievement icon. Search the entire map top to bottom, talking to every npc you find. For us, there was one high up in the brown wooden guard tower that we missed numerous times. Once you’ve talked to all the npcs on the map, you’ll get the achievement. I would avoid Dulfy, in case the npcs spawn randomly in each instance. My team of 5 had way more than this “7” number I keep seeing.
Unless they patched the other achievements, they aren’t bugged. I’ve done them all.
The achievement will trigger once you talk to all the npcs, before you go to the Asura lab. Don’t go to the lab until you’ve found all of them.
I just tried again, several times.
2 scenarios- no mobs appear and I can talk to the npcs while they keep their “imune to dmg” buff and they all run to the asura lab safe. When I finish 7 npcs, I cant find any other all over. When I run to the asura lab I loose the buff (the achievement) and the achievement is not awarded.
- Mobs appear around the npcs, I cant talk to them, so I have to attack the mobs. The npcs loose the “imune to dmg” buff and I loose the achievement short after that, even if the npcs survive.
I’m not sure where this “7” number is coming from. Dulfy perhaps?
Here’s what I recommend, this is how it worked for me:
Get a party of 5. Clear the main camp, talk to Lindsay. Have your party run around, killing mobs and then staying with the npcs to make sure they don’t aggro any more. Have the instance owner talk to npc. There are a lot more than 7 if you have a party of 5. One of them is hidden, high up in the brown wooden guard tower. He’s a little asura, hard to see. When you’ve TALKED to all of them, you will get the achievement. Do not go to the asura lab until you’ve got the achievement. Search the entire map, along the edges up until you get to the red out of bounds barrier on the sides. The npcs are all over and it’s a big space-really easy to miss some.

Still buged here.
Went in the cave, activated the caravan, went outside, talked to all the NPCs (7, doing the instance solo) they all went out with their buffs on (imune to dmg). I searched for more npcs, no one around.
I still had the achievement buff on me when I went to the asura lab, but as soon as I got there I lost it.
I went on the back of the lab, and all 7 npcs were there dead on the floor without anything that could have killed them around. This needs a hot-fix pls.
The achievement will trigger once you talk to all the npcs, before you go to the Asura lab. Don’t go to the lab until you’ve found all of them.
It seems the bug occurs as soon as the instance starter triggers the lab portion.
The NPCs that you rescue die as soon as the lab is triggered. No idea why it happens.
My guildmates and I have been sweeping the map before going to the lab just to make sure no one has been missed.
Check the guard tower, on top.
This achievement is bugged… they need to fix it asap. It said i was available to get it until the last part which it automatically disappears.
If you do it with more people, there are more NPCs to rescue, I believe. You need to rescue all of them before going to the final defend event. The achievement will trigger once you’ve save them all. Some are easy to miss. With my party of 5, there was one on top of the guard tower. A little Asura was hiding so that you could barely see him.
How did you manage that?
Edit: Got it.

Anet plz give free endless fracal tonic for lost time investment. Was on third fractal. Thanks!
Net Turret used to be really dumb for locking down kiteable bosses. Unfortunately you can’t reach 100% uptime on immob solo with them anymore and I don’t think any other class has substantial access to immob uptime.
I think the nets used to miss a lot? But I know parties, if not individuals, easily reach 100% uptime on bosses like the tar boss in Arah.
Edit: Just did cliffside. Net turret + Supply Crate + Rifle net makes things a LOT faster. I stood behind him and didn’t get touched.
Edit edit: also seems they patched the feet seals so you can’t double dip anymore.

This made me smile
And another reset!
Every time we ask for changes they either break something or reset hours upon hours of hard work. The only positive change in the past year was dredge fractal I guess, but then again the clown car boss is way too easier than he used to be. It’s almost like we ask for one thing, and they give us 2 or 3 more that we didn’t ask for.
But then, ah well… Not like any of us expects anything after Fractured…
Never forget!
Swampland: Super Speed + Rocket boots for running any wisp. Toss Elixir U if you need during bloomhunger, use zerk nades/bombs for mossman.
Aquatic Ruins: Elixir X is really nice if you get whirlpool for the krait. Grenades used to be good underwater but I feel like they nerfed them a while back-haven’t really played underwater in a long time. They were an amazing underwater weapon for a long while though. For the swimming bit, lots of swiftness. For jellyfish, zerk it.
Urban Battlegrounds: This one is just so straightforward. Zerk dps, grenades on the lava buckets. Grenades can pull pretty nicely in the courtyard and kill siege from afar. Can toss Elixir U for walls around corners if you need it.
Uncategorized: Blind the harpies, Elixir U for walls, Zerk the ettin/charr/engi/rabbit, take a battery and grenade range Old Tom, use Tool Kit for the pull during the final raving asura boss fight, and keep up walls with Elixir U. AOE grenade/bomb your stacked golems once you get em all together.
Snowblind: Zerk dps, can invis party for fire part if you need, use lots of swiftness, can easily run through the forest, zerk dps final boss.
Molten Furnace: Smash head on keyboard because you just got time gated.
Cliffside: Don’t know, usually just zerk dps but might try your net turret suggestion. With net turret, net turret toolbelt, and rifle 2 you can get three immobilizes. Can also use glue bomb… use blinds on mobs while breaking seals, invis if you need it at times.
Aetherblade: Zerk dps as you work around traps. Walls if you need it.
Volcanic: Engi speed here is OP for running rocks. For the final fight you can use blinds, a wall, glue bomb if you need to get away. If your party is good though you’ll stack mid and aoe dps everything all at once.
Thaumanova Reactor: Zerk dps?
Underground Facility: Zerk dps, can use speed and rocket boots if you want bucket duty.
Maw: Engi OP here if your party wants to AFK.
Molten Boss Fractal: Zerk dps, dodge, walls.
Mai Trin: Don’t want to talk about it, haven’t had the buffed version on the high levels yet so I don’t know what to say.
General trend: Zerk dps, like everyone else, with a bit of added utility options for specialized scenarios. Like everyone else…
There are two massive engi exploits in fractals that have been in game since launch that I have no interest in talking about because I intend to keep using them.

1. Clear camp.
2. Rescue Lindsay.
3. Don’t go anywhere near the final defend event-if you do, all the mobs will start attacking the countryside soliders.
4. Go solider to soldier, killing the mobs attacking them and then have the instance owner talk to the soldier.
5. All of the people you need to rescue will take NO DAMAGE until you get close to them. The mobs don’t hit them at all until you get near. Just watch where you’re going, take your time, be thorough.
6. The achievement will pop once you’ve talked to all the people you need to rescue, that way you’ll know when you’re done.

Oh and don’t forget (!) you can interrupt your own knock back (or jump back) of elixier gun 4 by swapping weapons. So you won’t waste time in mid, nor will you fall down cliffs.
Ah, I figured it out. You mean by “dropping bundle” rather than switching kit. I never knew!
Heyhey!
Full Zerker, 6/6/0/X/X, depending on situation. Go for vigor if you need it, otherwise go for speed. As for runes use strength, as for sigils there are multiple options like energy, battle, strength, force, just the casual best sigils.
Main Skills are Healing Turret, Grenade Kit, Bomb Kit and the Elixier Gun. Those are the most flexible and best kits the engineer has. Grenades for vuln, bombs for combo fields aswell damage, blind, cc, and the elixier gun for its great utility and blast finisher with an ultra high damage output.
I do not suggest the mine over the elixier gun since:
- its combo finisher takes more time to activate
- the combo finisher has more cd
- the mine explosion displaces enemies (may unstack)
- the mine + its toolbelt deals less damage than the elixier 4 AND has more cd
- missing stun breaker
- missing heal
- missing condi cleanseGreez!
Wait mine toolbelt does less damage than elixir 4? Really?
Edit: Just looked up damage coefficients on wiki, seems like you’re right. I never knew! Mine advantage is boon removal, though I may have to reconsider elixir gun because of the utility.
Cool stuff.

I want to start a conversation between players and developer and instead I get bad mannered. I still love you though.
