This is an itnerested but hard to implement skill.

Just add more weapon skills and the ability to change skills in and out of your weapon bar (like GW1

Soldier’s stats give you power, toughness, and vitality. This increases your survivability to greater than that of a heavy armour profession.
Berserker’s stats give you power, precision, and critical damage. This doesn’t benefit your survivability at all, leaving you as squishy as if you were wearing light armour.

I’m a little bit concerned that you don’t know this already. Maybe you should spend more time getting to know the game before you make suggestions for such huge changes.

Oh, that’s what you mean, I thought you where talking about some something else. Hey give me a break, sheesh I don’t know all the game terms of things in GW even if I know how it works.

Why did we need another mount thread? It was split about 50-50 in every other thread and now someone wants them to fly too? Stop trying to ruin the game for half of the population by adding useless shtuff. How about they fix the bugs and do some balancing? How about an arena for aerial combat – that I would be kewl with.

because a dervish would not work due to different religions, and the class having to be available to all races, I was thinking a nature based dervish offspring that used spirits of wild instead of human gods.

This is actually not a bad Idea, also this class could be literally different depending of the race and their religious belief. I guess it be way to complex to pull of but it be awesome. They could call it Knight or something on those lines.

I was hoping they would bring back Dervish as a heavy. The problem is that Dervish are fighters who use the power of their gods for combat. Therefore only only humans can be dervish and norn already use their gods. Leaving charr who don’t have gods, asura who have a different higher power, and sylvari “the dream” out of the picture…

Hmmm, actually I would love to see the Dervish again as a Heavy Class! They could implement this into them and mix it up so its lore wise with the new races.

Wow, talking about mounts is getting dangerous. When I mention this idea I was aiming to more of some sections of the Maps, Dungeons, New special Zone or special story event quests. Besides, if Arena Net does bring any type of mount system they will make it unique and very lore wise. They do have a reputation you know and I trust their skill at pulling of the craziest ideas that make this game awesome.

No need for the insults, we are here to discussing ideas, lets keep this civil please.

Actually there is a whole bunch of ideas for new classes at guildwarsguru some of them are more detailled than others and some of them feasible than others.

The Ritualist and the kick boxing Monk, like Scholar I suggested, seem to be quite popular, from what I understand. Another one I liked is the Oracle concept I made, which was supposed to be designed for GW1 Monk or WoW Priest players. I’m not so sure about the mechanics of the Sangoma, but I thought it suits to the GW2 concept art I liked a lot.

I like this idea I would definetly love to play a light armor Guardian with much more support and range.

Indeed! Is either this or they let the Professions use other weapons that they could not use before.

This idea will also give reason to want to get the other awesome armors that the game offers. I’m sure there are many who love to get the hands on other armor sets besides their class restriction.

Another way to do it is they unlock the armors for all classes and just add some kind of boost in stats depending on the Light, Medium or Heavy Armor that affects the strategy of how you fight.

Since the Zaishen are dedicated by lives to Balthazar, shouldn’t they be heavily influenced by him in terms of their skills? Tons of fire and what not.

Two of the images provided aren’t Zaishen or affiliated with them, not sure if you were implying that or not. One is Shiro Tagachi of the Imperial Guard in Cantha. The other is a Kurzick in Cantha as well. If you just meant to use those as armour example then ignore this part.

It is an interesting Idea none the less, but the problem I run into with this class is this:
1) The God’s aren’t helping the humans anymore and the Zaishen are 100% loyal and dedicated to Balthazar.
2) The Great temple of Balthazar were the Zaishen are from is located on the Battle Islands. With Bubbles the dragon, we really don’t know what has happened to this island chain.

On your 2 points
1) The Gods might not be helping the humans but that’s not stopping them from worshiping them and the idea of the zaishen is for a flexible and versatile combat master (note not arms master that’s the warrior) not directly linked to balthazar.
2) The battle isle are gone that’s much is known from the movement of the world article long ago. Regardless of this the zaishen can very well be alive still since they had ample access to the mist and could have escaped there facing imminent destruction and survived there the last 250 years along side innumerable ghost of warriors that fall on the mist taking from them and perfecting their style. (I say this because all PvP takes place in the mist).

the lore behind “the good dragons”?
Well, the ones terrorizing Tyria were expelled from the dragon kingdom becasue they wanted to conquer it. We have good humans (seraph) and bad humans (bandits, pirates), We have good charr and we have bad charr, we have good asurans and we have bad asurans… why not have good dragons while we have bad dragons?

Besides, in this way they can make even more bad dragons and let Zaitan be just a mere rebel compared to the new ones

I want a class that makes focuses on more damage at a sacrifice of survival or focusing on living rather than doing more damage. Could either be a solo class or a support class. Heavy armor and uses daggers, swords, focuses, staffs, scepters, greatswords, and axes or something like that. One signet I thought of for this post would be like do less damage but gain vitality or toughness and the active could be gain protection and heal. Or a more offensive signet doing more damage with decreased toughness with an active being gain quickness and retaliation. I know I’m just dreaming but I think a class like that would be fun. I still don’t know what it would be called though.

I agree with the Heavy Class mention here, it almost describe what I posted a few month back of the New Soldier Class I like to see.

Achivements and Alts

I have tried multiple times to level up an Alternate character in GW2 to no success… Every time I get on a character that isn’t my main its just agonizing thinking of how long its going to take and all the things I have to repeat in a now mostly empty environment.

In other games there are various ways that your main character help your Alts other than in gold and crafted gear. A little extra help to get you though something that you have basically already done. I think GW2 is missing this and I see potential in the achievement system to make something new no other game has tried before.

The idea is basically to give bonuses to characters in your account based on how much you have in your achievements (and by extension your Main character). This could include some basic gear for leveling without having to depend on your luck on drops. Karma bonus at certain levels (10, 20, 30 etc) which also help you stay geared. It can also include a exp and/or karma bonus or a crafting bonus if you have your crafting maxed on your main.

All these bonuses could help alleviate the very tedious task of leveling an Alt in GW2. On your first character you don’t feel like you are going slow because everything is new. Even on a new character it can be ok for the first 30 or so levels while your story is different but past that when it starts getting slow it really starts to grind on the player.

So what does everyone think or what other bonuses can be given to your account for getting achievements ?

TL;DR Achievements on your main make you level up alts faster.

Omg, so true I totally agree with you in this. Its rather hard to level a new character. This affect more the casuals I think that the hardcore players. I tried many times to make a new profession but just thinking about all that, achievements, levels, even gaining the colors… again is a pain. Maybe if the personal story became part of your every level until the end I guess it be better but even that’s just last until level 30 then Trahearne takes over.

I agree with this. Arena Net could learn a thing or two from the deep personal stories in the New Star Wars Universe MMO, even thought its a dying one. The personal story is truly amazingly deep they even have romance and other crazy stuff.

Anyway to return to the point, this should be taken to account, you just CANT TAKE THE GLORY OF PLAYERS CHARACTERS LIKE THAT!!! Its not nice…or even cool.

First Strike out was Kormir, Second Strike out was Trahearne, will the third strike be Oogooth quaggan? lol

Hello, I seem to be having an annoying problem. I bought the Consortium Harvesting Sickle but unlike my other purchases it dint fall to my e-mail nor did it in my inventory.
Made another character thinking; “Hey, maybe u can only have one unlimited gathering material per character?” (I have the Lava Mining tool) But that was not the case… I click on, confirm purchase and nothing happens.

Can someone help me? Is there something I’m doing wrong?

Its becoming a growing problem in PVE the All Heavies parties for dungeons, as it leave the other cool professions pretty much looking as leftovers or worst, kick out for a Heavy. Its becoming very discouraging and its hurting the PvE experience.

Kinda long post but a good read. It be nice if Arena net dig into their past lore and resurrect this central part of GW1 as a new class.

Seeing as there’s 3 adventurers 3 scholars a new soldier to finish the trios would be a logical next step.

Hoping arena net takes something from this post and make some awesome.

I agree with that. Three from each armor class makes sense. I’d like to see a third Heavy profession. This class seems like a reasonable one. And I love GW1, so past lore would be amazing.

It does make sense, and I would love to fight bare-handed.

The bare hand combat would be a very nice touch to ALL Races and Professions and knowing Arena Net it be something in the detail lines of Race+Profession mix, making it interesting unique experience and fun choice different depending on the mention above.

They could add a special glove./claw/orb for it as a weapon socket. Depending on Professions and Race it be close combat or a very flashy display of range combat. It could finally bring good CC to all profession. After all in a bare hand combakittens all about controlling a fight, be it in self defense or offence.

Thought this idea of the New Soldier Profession main focus could be all about CC!

This can also solve the Issue we been having in PvE where the parties that do dungeons are compose of all Heavies and a lone Mesmer or some other class. I really hope they find a way to balance this in PvE its really hurting the game. Its seems that the New Trinity Arena Net offered has ways to go.

Actually this idea came to me because I encountered this situation with my Elementalist and some of my friends so many times we discuses it and they ask me to post it. We think this will help tons this problem and work toward the New Trinity Arena Net wanted to offer players.

Since launch I am hoping for this. Flying mounts, please. Ground mounts, please. Underwater mounts, please. It doesn’t have to be in air combat – that would be a heck of a lot of work. But mounts would add such more depth to this game. If we could explore and view the world from the sky as well, it would be EPIC.

Vistas and JPs – just add a zone around them in which you can not fly. Problem solved.
I know it’s a lot of work to do, but would it be worth it? Hell yeah! Especially, if you look at the game from a long term point of view…in a year, 5 years…why not?!

I agree with Ronah.

A new continent aboveground, with lots of islands and amazing level design. Anet is pretty good at level design so I trust they would get it right. Underwater combat proves the gameplay elements are already there and would only need some adapting.

A new continent solves the issue of having to rework pretty much everything.

Also give us aerial jumping puzzzles (Like fly through rings on a timer, escape a collapsing something in a dungeon, etc).

And then add the equivalent for WvW, new map with airships and awesome stuff.

Story can be interesting too… You could make a technomagically advanced species like the asura that had to flee their own planet, escaping something… They did so by teleporting the last of their cities to our planet. They are fragile creatures, evolved on the upper atmosphere of a gas giant, unable to survive outside the anti-gravity bubbles that their cities maintain. Sadly they cannot create more of this bubbles as they don’t have the resources on this planet. They could lend the other species (the pact) an anti-gravity generator for very special occasions, this would mean that some living story events could include flying and occur on mainland tyria (Probably instanced).
And there would be a story to discover what were they fleeing, probably related to the Mursaat.

Dreaming is free I guess ;(

If a mount system is implemented I would really like to see more of it instead of just riding, just as we have weapons and unique powers under water and other interesting environment weapons, but also have powers that can knock you out of the mounting. When mounted we should have our own weapons and powers/utilities/Elites depending on profession. In WvW it would be awesome to see players riding into battle on the ground, air or even under water, like a real war.

Of course they would need to balance it, so there are strategic reasons for mounting or not mount. ++1 for this post.

P.S. Casters should be able to summon their own mounts or transform into them this would be a PLUS for many!

They really need to invent some “planet in the sky” for this game which will be all about mounts, flying mounts, and mounted combat. Asurans may have discover it and then made some gates to go there.

I see it as the only way to expand the GW2 concept and add flying mounts and mounts of any type (robotic, machinery, living) in general plus the mounted combat without ruining the current lore or the current game.
The zone will be for lvl 80’s and the mounts will be usable only on the new planet.

The Living story concept can bring something like this into the game and develop it alternatively with the new Tyrian continents: Cantha and Elona

In some games changing Heavy, Medium to Light armor has a significant impact on how a Class works. A common example is the lighter armor usually enhances attack/magic power by sacrificing defense.

My suggestion would only affected the powers of the already existing weapons giving you more option to your chosen class, for more survivability, versatility, tactical, originality and more attune to each players original combat style.

I am not a fan of flying. At least not in sword and board MMOs. It gives the game a very modern feel, which Is not what you want. Take this example, there’s this joke that Frodo should have just ridden on the eagles to get into Mordor, but imagine how much that takes away from the trek. You skip on the adventure.

Good, point, thank you for your thoughts. Still with the right balance of story, lore and creative thinking it could fit somewhere in the game. Don’t tell me you forgot about the Final Fight of Zhaitan? Dint you wikitten was an real air fight with the dragons and their master? Have the feel on jumping on them or have a real air combat with them? I’m sure I’m not the only one who felt that way.

On things for sure Arena Net plays it safe so if some of this even comes out I’m sure it wont have a significant impact to the current content. But keep those opinions flowing, the more discuses the better.

What if this class gets F1, F2, F3, for different battle stances?

F1 – Judgement stance The current weapon(s) offers an array of offensive attacks

F2 – Protector stance Defensive and Support abilities.

F3 – Manipulation stance Various monster control and other CC abilities

With cool-down on switch, just like the Elementalist.
Blade dancer has also been proposed. This could be a mix of both.

This class design actually sounds pretty awesome, especially the one weapon with multiple stances.

Thank you for your support. Who knows we might see some of this in the future, as there are still the Dervish and other classes style of fighting missing from this new mix of classes we have now.

Heck, I would not mind if they added a bit of the Dervish to the new Soldier class put with stances or something similar like an infuse elements much like the shamans infuse them selves but instead of elements more of divine/dragon essence or some cool eye candy sort visual FX.

If people keep adding and combining their awesome ideas we could see the best ideas but into the New Soldier Class…even if its not name the same way, but I have a feeling it could be name Knight or something in that line with the other classes.

Hmmm, now that I think about it, if Arena Net added bit of the best of Aion, the flying , gliding combat in some Zones, Events/Quests or Maps. Woo a lot of Aion People would make this their home. *But only the best stuff*, omg, the horror of grinding for those beautiful glowing, awesome looking wings, mounts, weapons and armors styles…it seem endless as each patch brought more and more cooler looking stuff, I still have nightmares (lol).

Aions has the best fantasy concept in eye candy I have ever seen since Final Fantasy 11, and the flying thing was breathtaking (who doesn’t love to fly or have wings?) , its really a divine experience to see it at first glance. But the game play was terrible.

Arena Net would probably make it 100% times better, wish they at list consider it, and make it something similar or better. But I think its for the best they probably kill Aion if they did.

hmmm I think one for starters , no flying mounts ,. although , just various type of odd s tyrian horses, with different types of mounts which can be crafted an colored , different design features and or stat enhance ments, nothing extravagant , just nice features for Tyrian horses different shapes n sizes and rares ,. anet is always working dillingently it seems , on various aspects , im sure theres a lot on the table an just keepin up with tyria as it stands atm and adding content first, wow I checked all the content they’ve have created in gw1 and it seems amazing , I wish I would’ve had time to play it ,. I definably would pay for an expac , keep up the great work , definably no flying mounts , would destroy this game , lol

Dev’s ignore us…they don’t even write any answer…that’s how it works. We spend our money and they don’t give us any answer…

We have to remember this things take time to develop and designed a purpose for it. The Devs are reading but we have to keep bringing the idea to life that’s why we post, so everyone can pitch in with their ideas, on how to go about with this, whether with mounts, a Jet Pack, Fiery Phoenix wings, Death shrouds flying form or Rainbow wings (hahahaha, sorry could not resist).

I think this would be great for some areas in WvW y some New maps of PvP and PvE ofcourse.

Sure, let’s trivialize a good 90% of jumping puzzles and vistas. Although I dislike them and would rather they stayed the heck out of the game, ground mounts would work fine in this game. Flying mounts not so much. If they were implemented for specific story fights or instances, the might be workable. Right now you’re essentially asking the developers to reinvent the way the world is structured.

Specific story fights or instances I had in mind but not all maps more like you enter a zone of that map that is open for this. SPECIALY the EPIC Dragon fight please no more un-epic final battles like you did with Zhaitan PLEASE!!

I think that mounts or something like mounts should be added.

Why?:
It adds an over layer of a new feel to the game. And something super fun to look forward to (unlocking at level 80 or something).

The bad?:
People may say mounts are bad,etc.
Well arenanet could test them in alpha or them selves and see then.

That’s why you bring newbies to events. Without ‘em, it’s like visiting Disneyland without kids. I do agree on the gaming aspect of open pve events (easy and dull), but you can’t deny their visual impact. GW2 has some of the best art around.

This actually sounds like a kick kitten idea, but alas. We come to the dreaded impassible wall of the Anet’s “Give a kitten” meter that seems to be frozen at “Below Zero.” At the moment, they have showed no desire to change any gameplay changes.
