One of the drawbacks to every changing match-ups is that you do not get to build those relationships and get to know who is fair to let pass and who is not. In DAoC once you built up some rep you just had to avoid the zergs, no one else would AJ you.

Takes a lot to build that in an ever changing community, so we are left to learn to kite it off and deal with the deaths if you want to roam, no point getting bent out of shape about it.

This had been suggested before for a similar reason and they didn’t do it so not expectingit nnow. As for the spiking. Not sure about lower tierz but in the upper tiers spiking is a good chunks of a teams totally point so yes it does make a difference in the matchup

If I was playing in a low tier server I wouldn’t bother bringing this up at all but….
in top tier matches sometimes the winner is decided by less than 100 points, this makes it a very important issue for top tier servers imho.

in top tier matches a small bloodlust management team can easily rack up a hell of a lot more than 100 points in a very short amount of time.

while spiking might make up a serious chunk of overall points, the number people that are pathetic enough to log out to stop the enemy from getting a couple PPT is thankfully in short supply.

If ANET wants to fix it the solution is pretty simple. Add it to the list of things that happen when someone logs out while downed. They already made it so they drop loot and provide xp, just add PPT to that list.

As for the discussion on using warbanners, my view is that if they are using warbanners to keep the lord up it prolongs my ability to farm them, so good.

We have been 7-8 since April.

SBI has gone from 14 to 8 since the start of Sept when leagues were announced.

All that being said – you guys have been giving us a good run this week. A lot of us feel that we’ve been able to best you folks in the open field/combat – but I guess the point-score speaks for itself….

‘working on it’ should eventually result in implementation. All we see implemented is garbage that ignores what players are telling them, so when is this ‘working on it’ going to actually pay off?

This is because Devon wants to make sure he does not pull out a “TOA” style expansion from DAoC which killed off 50% of the player base.

TOA was an expansion that makes the progression from exotic gear to ascended gear look small in comparison. Basically EA/Mythic made such drastic changes that not only required players months of grinding to get gear but also made it that you were almost 50% better than the player without toa ML and Gear.

So better tiny updates than significant explosions.

However, some of their class balance skills and lag problems need better work done on them

Why are you comparing an expansion to lack of any meaningful improvements to wvw at a patch level? Just felt like talking about DAoC? There isnt even anything closely related to TOA being discussed, so why bring it up?

Here’s the thing… SBI is not going to make it to Gold League by the time Oct 18th happens short of a complete exodus by one of the upper 6 servers next week AND a really odd upwards roll of SBI getting a T1 fight (regardless of where SBI places in that fight). Sure, it could happen, but really will not and we’ll know by Friday server reset.

Another point, Mag will also be in Silver League and their only real competition is … SBI. Sure, there is always higher difficult server matchups so SBI and Mag can’t just take a break against the some of the harder weekly server match ups but really if you talk only in base coverage of people terms, there will be no other true population competition short of a mass ‘ninja’ transfer by a T1/T2 server (again, this likely won’t happen this season).

I actually see the winner of Mag vs. SBI as the go-to server for guaranteed rewards for the first WvW season (especially if the match up happens again next week) as oppose to T1 Gold/NA where it is not set in stone who will win (all top three have a solid chance and server draw/luck may actually determine who wins it all or as I like to put it, server pity by the #4 to #6 ranked servers).

For NA Silver League it’s either Mag or SBI and anyone who watches momentum of server placement can see its between these two servers. And both (besides the forum trollz here) have great communities and fairly decent WvW skillz despite the blob/zerg/lack of PPT-focus trolling in this thread.

But that is not to say that both sides could definitely improve their own game; there is a ton of mistakes and lack of coordination on both sides and sheer numbers does not compensate for lack of repeated map/objective/zerg-positioning attention.

There are no rewards worth weeks of boredom. Even if both SBI and Mags are stuck in silver, how often will they match-up compared to how often they will not be matched up.

1) FA for the most part is a class act. Give tough fights and talk minimal kitten.

2) Mag’s also gives good fights but their pvf is overrated. Heard so many stories of it’s legendary caliber and it turns out to be the same childish i’m better then you because you suck grade school kitten like all other servers. Disappointing, was hoping for more.

3) SBI needs to stop chest thumping and saying look at the ppt. Not sure if it’s new transfers or other, but it looks bad. SBI is about the fights, not the points.

Actually that is pretty dumb. No one will go put effort into ruins for an outmanned buff, I feel unmotivated now and the buffs are worth having.

I think it is interesting that the push for the last spot in gold is likely far more exciting and discussed then the actual league play will be.

From the view of someone fighting both, Kaineng, imo. There was a lot more hype than substance with Kaineng, but I think overall they were a stronger server than SBI.

SBI imo is more of a blob at this point, where Kaineng was more coordinated. This is not meant as insulting, I think equally little of all bandwagon efforts, but Kaineng was a structured alliance at the start. SBI growth was more organic and as such not as organized.

Not to say SBI cant get as organized, just not there atm.

When I get my necro to 80 with exotics, as you say, I will be severely disadvantaged, so much so that I will need to spend laurels, gold and more to get geared so I don’t end up, again, running from the waypoint over and over and OVER again – and then giving up on WvW altogether ’cause I, like many, are tired of the grinding and the “I am so much more geared than you, so I can one-shot or half-hit you and you will be dead, not just downed.” overgeared monsters who dance on our dead bodies and tell us how useless we are.

It is not a gear grind. If you play the game, all of those things come to you in time. It is only a grind if you want it immediately. Further this game favors zerglets/casuals so much that it spoon feeds you the gear a lot faster then those of us that spend no time doing PvE or running around in zergs.

Bottom line is most people in this game play at such a low level the fact that they have WXP abilities, ascended gear and 3 stacks of blood lust just means they take 10 seconds longer to kill. All you folks crying about this stuff likely fall into that crowd.

In 1v1 it makes a bit of a difference, but in a 30-70v30-70 it will always equal out and that is how most of you play anyways.

Seems like DB is in a good spot for silver league, should be about the middle of the league. Lots of target rich match-ups and a good chance at a balanced match or two.

RNG determines the match-ups leading up to the start of the league. Your ability to earn points is based on who you are matched up against.

Folks want gold league so they do not have seven weeks of boring match-ups, being crushed by the other servers doesn’t matter.

Sounds like crud to me. I think it is more likely a bunch of folks moved there to be the top of the silver league, which would have been the case if ANET didn’t push back the start date. How much ‘not winning’ did you expect to be doing at the top of silver?
