If you have to compare the rise of SBI, then TC might be the better comparison than Kaineng.
I think it is exactly like Kaineng. TC was more a steady progression of a guild here and there over time, no massive jumps in ranks, at least as far as I remember.
Difference between Kain 2.0 and us, is that we used to be the #1 server until mass exodus happened.
So its not a bandwagon this time because you used to be big? I have no idea what you are trying to say with that statement.
I came to this game because it was marketed as focusing on skills and not gear/stats in terms of World PvP. I figured I had found my permanent MMO home and it started out great, however, since release we have had the following carrots added:
-Ascended trinkets, +160 stats
-Ascended backpiece, ??
-Guard Leech, +200 stats
-Applied Fortitude, +2500 hps
-Bloodlusts, a maximum of +900 stats
*Five pieces of ascended armor are in the works. Who knows what stats they will have. Now individually they don’t mean much but cumulatively they make a substantial difference.
Please for the love of all that is holy….. stop with the dam carrots in WWW!
Yet all of that < coverage/population. Skill is meaningless in this game and PPT is the biggest carrot of them all.
We were getting little to no fights every week on DB. The place that has the most consistent fights during NA prime is JQ, so we came here and farm lots of loot bags now instead of pveing in DB.
lol
Maguuma: Short que’s on reset night on maybe 1-2 maps. During the week the only time we have a que is when the karma/wxp train blobbers all go to one map.
have you ever played on ET and or other bottom tier servers??? they dont even have enough ppl to QUE one map let alone 4, and they r not the only ones. We have nowhere near the NA pop for 20-24 servers, we may have the NA pop for 16 or so, and im not talking about 4 map qued im talking about like 20-30 ppl on 4 maps.
Yes, played in tier 9, as well as 8 and most every other tier. You are splitting hairs between 16 vs 20, the point remains that if we had more off-hour folks then more servers would be viable, something like 16-20 :P
Off hour coverage has always been an issue with WvW and always will be. Again wvw is 24/7, anet wanted it like this, and you cant blame the other timezones for going to servers where they will actually have ppl to fight.
I think the point is that ANET ‘vision’ was a flawed one and their head in the sand on the topic is making things worse. Also I never commented on the other time zones, just the NA ones.
and the vast majority of people who transfer to t1, dont do it for some “easy win” or “reward”, they do it because its the ONLY tier that has 24/7 coverage and the most balance competitive matches. People who wanted easy wins, would bandwagon to a Rank 7-8 server tank there score and then Stomp the other servers when league started.
What a load. So folks have been playing on their respective servers for months, yet suddenly they decided they wanted 24/7 coverage, skill lag and massive ques just as leagues are about to start? Sounds like a great time to make the switch if competitive matches is what you wanted… enjoy all the blowouts, those are super competitive.
T1 is T1 because of coverage, its the only place where guilds from all time zones can go to have fights 24/7. Btw isnt this kinda what anet wanted ?? after all WvW is 24/7.
WvW being 24/7 is a great ideal when you have the population to do it. We have enough NA population for 24 servers, we have enough off-hour population for 4 servers.
Basically all of T1 is carried by their off-hour population, the NA population are just parasites.
No, we actually dont have the NA pop for 24 servers. Can all servers have a presence on 4 maps during NA? no they cant only the top 3 tiers can, and even thats a maybe.
Your right about the off hour coverage tho, but even that there isnt even enough to put a presence on 4 maps for 4 servers.
T1 is just playing the game the way Anet wants it played, 24/7 fights coverage. So why be shocked its happening?. and why blame t1?. Blame Anet for creating WvW this way.
If we had equal off-hour coverage to what we have for NA, then yes we have NA population for 24 servers, well in fairness lets say a bit less, say 20 servers. Not everyone wants to blob around on qued maps, nor does everyone think you need that many people on a server. Spreading out is a good thing, we just do not have enough off-hour to spread out as well.
T1 is blamed because of the recruitment drives, the insistence to ‘get more’ rather than ‘get better’ in order to compete. ANET does what a business does, but the players… the ones that are flooding to T1 servers so they can hope to win a finisher and some extra rank chests… they deserve all the disdain we can heap upon them.

If 1,2&3 have their own league, then 4,5&6 will dominate 7,8&9. So, then 4,5&6 will need their own league. Now 7,8&9 will dominate 10,11&12, so 7,8&9 will nee….ehmagerd nvm you see where I’m going with this. There’s no way this system will ever work no matter what.
Which is why there never should have been a league in the first place. Waste of resources better spent on addressing the population/coverage issue, or any one of the other major WvW issues.
We had 1 ram built, 1 50% ram build site and 2 20% golems. I’m not sure if 2 rams would have gotten us in – but it was a close call.
Seems like an easy solution is to tell your zerglets to stop watching TV long enough to pay attention to what they are building?
Lazy bit of sabotage if you ask me. If he was a creative he would drop rams so he owns them, then use them in turn to bump off people trying to swing the ram.
Agreed. There is a great video out there of a thief with only an off-hand pistol killing people with these runes.
You must have missed his video of killing people with perplexity and fireworks.
That made me laugh, thanks!
I think folks just need to start playing different, imo. Stop playing to their benefit and play for your own. Deli had some good suggestions in another thread and I am sure there are a lot of others:
- collapse your population into one or two zones. This forces them to wait in stupidly long ques to get to fight anyone and it lets you pool your players.
- randomly switch zones you are stacking in. This means those that have waited 2 hours in que, may have to enter a new que once the realize you are no longer on the map they suddenly got into
- let them own everything, take something you want to defend and defend the kitten out of it, then get something else when they finally overwhelm you. Taking objectives gives them something to do, let them be bored.
- create highly mobile group and run around kiting the zergballs, hit them when they turn or not paying attention. You get some kills, they get to spend the night running in circles killing a person here and there.
If you are not going to win, if everything you take is going to be flipped 10 mins later, then why bother playing for PPT at all, why even care about the objectives? Personally I would rather be having a good time and laughing about suckers in que, then be in the que.
WvW-centric players are worth nothing to Anet because you are not likely to buy more PvE fluff from the gem store. The only gems you can contribute are those you buy for server transfers – go figure.
Totally incorrect statement. WvW players like dolling themselves and their weapons up just as much as PvE folks. Sure we may not go grind out boring PvE content for a mini, but we will spend 1000’s of gems on new finishers or skin for our weapon of choice. Just look at how many of the mushroom cloud finishers turned up the moment they went on sale.
Spawn camping does not really exist in this game given 3-5 exits from every spawn. If people stopped streaming out of the main entrance there would be no reason for campers to be there and they would go off to do something else.
If you all are QQ about being outnumbered then you all are barking up the wrong tree. When I was on TC and we would get SoR, BG, or JQ, we loved it, we knew we were outnumbered, but we liked the fights, cause we always won, they might have won the ppt match, but we always won in open field, we would go up against 50-60 with just 30+ but we were organized, we used mumble, had good commanders, everyone was in chat and listened, even militia was in mumble and we all followed the tag, and we would always go for the open field fights, everytime, and we won almost everytime, so don’t sit here and cry about being outnumbered, numbers have absolutely nothing to do with it, a lot of people like to be the underdog, cause they know they can kick the bigger dogs kitten , even if they don’t win the over all fight.
Yeah, we can see it was so much fun on TC that you went to JQ.
If you knew anything at all about me, you would know why I went to JQ, it’s on the TC website. So, since you know nothing, say nothing, thank you.
Next time, have a little knowledge before you speak.
Oh, it’s also been posted in these forums also. Educate yourself.
No one cares. Seriously, why would anyone care why you went to JQ? Your view is invalidated by your current server and if you stopped posting we wouldn’t all know how few marbles you have left in the jar.
also the class balance in wvw is a disaster but anet stated that they dont wanna split spvp and wvw balance. if my class doesent get the well deserved wvw buff and a certain godmode class gets nerfed, i dont see a reason why even playing. i chose this class i chose this server. i wanna play, have fun and have balance. anet failed with all those points atm.
Class balance will never be perfect. While I am generally pretty negative about this game and about ANET in general, I think in this case they have done a pretty reasonable job at balancing and I like that they make a lot of little class changes rather then big sweeping changes once a year, like in say WAR.
And if Anet doesn’t change the leagues, here’s something you guys can do to encourage destacking:
How to kill T1 stacking via boredom: don’t let them karma train.
That’s what they do to keep themselves busy during blowout matches. Deny them that luxury and they have nothing. Of course, that means you can’t karma train as well but for the greater good….Also, during NA prime time, consolidate ALL your forces into one map (or two). Let the other 2/3 maps be completely capped. They will find that there is only 1-2 maps with things to cap and people to fight. Agonizing queue times will be encountered as their entire wvw population tries to get into one map. Cue the queue QQs.
Have you faced any T1 in a while? Because if you have you know you need a queued map to hold off a determined T1 assault to stop the karma train. It’s the reality that it’s hard to get any PuGs into WvW outside of that night.
You do not stop the karma train, you give them nothing to take. You leave it mostly capped. Pick something to defend, defend the crap out of it and when it gets over-run bail out the back, quickly take another target, rinse and repeat. No train for them, all they get is being farmed while most of them sit in que waiting for their turn to be farmed.
Of course getting our own Karma train to not run around capping will be next to impossible, but Deli’s ideas are good ones none the less, and lets face it after a few days of pounding most of the karma train will take the week off anyways.
(edited by Niim.9260)
Ruins – should give some WXP at least with a internal cool down to prevent spam capping with an enemy but allow legit capping(running from 1 area to the next and FULLY raising the bar) to benefit from some WXP equal to a sentry or so.
I think it is extremely important to keep WXP and PPT out of the ruins, no interest in zergs in there.
Bolded…
… but we also play mainly for the fights, the fights in T1 are just outstanding and running with an organized guild of 40-50+ in a BL is amazing, ….
I am either guessing you are drunk or do you actually enjoy the lag. JQ, when we fought you and BG… our mumble went like this …
Cmder “Sign of incoming zerg is you get skill lag before you can see anyone… static down”
Random Warhorn War "dude my skills are lagging I can’t blast your static… "
Cmder “Okay, they are around, scouts fan out”
Scout B “I see them incoming north, about 20,no 40 my graphics didn’t render, its there map zerg north side”
Cmder “Crap, we have 26, okay lets do this”
Random player “how the heck do these guys enjoy playing like this”
Random player B “No idea, it’s just gross, only my 1 button works, the rest don’t fire when clicked”
Cmder “Clear comms we’re engaging”
… for the record, the lag is noticeably worse than fighting any Mags, FA, DB, SoS … we get decent clashes. I have no idea how anyone likes to play under those circumstances.
~X
Lurch didnt post that comment you quoted, someone else did. while I agree with the sentiment, TC is a lot closer to JQ size than any of the servers in that list.
Okay?
Are you just trying to spread awareness or have a cry because I don’t see you present anything resembling a solution?
Or a point.
Very true, most people in the lower tiers play for ppt, in the higher tiers we also play for ppt, but we also play mainly for the fights, the fights in T1 are just outstanding and running with an organized guild of 40-50+ in a BL is amazing, you can’t get that anywhere else accept in T1.
This has to be the most kitten backwards view I have ever read.
hi maguuma keen for our rm next week with SBI, i bribed some Anet 10 cookies to make it happen.
Rather just fight SBI. SoS is boring as hell to play against. It is more like tagging off when each other goes to bed.
#RLHawk I stopped Reading after "[Yea] I play it… " If I wanted or needed a lecture I join Uni again.
Get me WvW
Alrighty then. ’tis a shame I wasted my time typing all that.
Regardless though, I was simply trying to make the point that ANet cares just as much or more about WvW as you do. It’s good that you’re eager for it to be fixed though, so I’ll stop fighting you. After all, as far as our love of WvW, we seem to be on the same page.
What the game def needs more of are apologists.
I dunno wtf is up w/ this Swag drama, but I do know that they refuse to GvG GF. They also post videos of them “roaming” which is nothing but a compilation of their guild zerging ppl down.
I wouldn’t expect SWAG to have enough folks for a GvG.
Niim’s point was you’re taking it too seriously by coming to the forums to whine about a guy who takes it too seriously.
^
In past games there was no such thing as a ‘commander’ icon, you learned who to follow based on their performance and abilities. Suddenly because we have a commander tag, you feel obligated to follow them… why? You are not capable of making your own decision in game on if you should follow someone or not?
What does rank have to do with leadership anyways? Someone that avoids fighting and just PvDoors will have a higher rank that a leader that tries to play for PPT or fighting, yet by your standard the PvDoor hero is better.
There are much bigger issues then your inability to determine who to follow. We have a commander system that means nothing. For some reason they tied squad creation to commanders only, then they decided to create no interface for the squad. Most recently they created a LFG tool that doesn’t have a section for WvW. And that is just the stuff related to leading.
@People that take this game way to serious, like the guy from SWAG that messaged me from no where.
Adding people from the forums because they happen to be in a particular guild, then asking them why we are mad at you. Then using terms like “fight like men”. You might need to take a break from the game.
There is no collective or hive mind in Guild Wars 2. I don’t have a problem with SWAG just because some of my guildmates may have a problem with SWAG. It is video game it might be time to take a break if you feel compelled to message me. I don’t even get in to all that video game drama. My posts on the forums are about topics that interest me or I might agree or disagree with. I don’t post on the forums to prove I’m some cool dude with leet skillz I just have my opinions on certain things.
TL&DR:
I am in Good Fights but being in a guild doesn’t mean everyone thinks exactly the same. Messaging me ingame is childish message the person behind the computer you actually have a problem with.
How is him messaging you, and you posting this long blah blah blah on the forums, any different? You only reference swag, not the individual responsible, like all swag was a hive mind, etc.
Really TG? You’re going to chase 2 poeple all the way to the windmill with 3x the numbers?
Windmill is suppose to be a safe place
There is no safe zone anywhere. Generally if you are dueling folks will leave it alone, but just because you are in the area of the mill doesn’t mean you are safe.
By skill I mean overall skill in WvW and all that entails. In an even numbered matchup between the top 3 servers and any other servers, the top 3 will win because they are more skilled. In a battle for Hills for example, if the sides are even, BG will win more often.
I agree with Chirs’ statement about a random BG and random IoJ guild. However, if you take BG’s top 100 people and queue the map and you take IoJ’s top 100 people and que the map, BG will win.
Regarding where the top servers people came from – they came from other servers. And I completely disagree that they were the bad players. In fact, just the opposite, they were the best players (read PvPers) from those other servers. They went to the top for the fights and competition not simply to win or get rewards.
As earendil mentioned – I’m from SBI too – the people that left SBI in the exodus were the WvW/PvP guilds. They were some of the best at actual PvP that we had. And they are now on all three top servers – BG, SoR and JQ.
The reason I mention this is becaue if other servers (and Anet) think that it is only about population and coverage, they are wrong. And those fighting for a spot in the Gold league will be in for a ruder awakening than they thought if they are not prepared for it.
What a pile of crap. ‘For the fights’ means a lot of different things to different people and people transfer according to what best fits their needs. T1 is where you go if you are interested in PPT and the battle for it. It is however not where I would transfer if I wanted to find quality small scale fights.
I know a lot of people who are dreading the weeks of tedium if we end up in Silver.
How would it be different from your past month, not counting your current match-up? SoS is designed to create tedium, not just for themselves but for anyone that plays them.
ANET thinks you should be blobbing in WvW, not being organized in groups, no lfg tools for you!
WvW has a lot of issues, the impacts of ascended gear wouldn’t be anywhere close to the top of the priority list for me. I do not see it as a big issue.
Being able to channel the Casual WvWer population into a fighting force is a WvW skill too. It’s called leadership, charisma, whatever. Some people and guilds are better at that.
Sure, we all have our good and bad pug leaders.
I don’t know. Looking at the points and the standings SOS is assured of the 6th place in the golden league. There is no reason to put that in to jeopardy by requesting a 2 week rematch with the other equally strong contenders. I am surely missing something here.
The league doesn’t start till the 18th.
But lets be honest, SoR, BG and JQ are more skilled than any other NA server. (Another reason they need their own league).
More skilled at what? If you mean skilled at earning PPT, yea sure I can agree with that because they are the few servers that actually work at PPT.
T1 has the largest number of WvW focused guilds. This doesn’t mean that 20 people from random BG guild are better than 20 people from an IoJ guild.
What it means that they have all maps queued with WvW focused players who do nothing but WvW 90% of the time.
Compared that to most T2 and lower servers that can fully man 2-3 borderlands on reset night with 30%-50% casual PuGs.
You are talking about coverage and population, his comment was about skill.
But lets be honest, SoR, BG and JQ are more skilled than any other NA server. (Another reason they need their own league).

I was referring to a post by someone from Maguuma. I know its all about coverage. Who do you think SBI stomped on during their climb to the top? Jesus, its as if T1 and T2 players think they are the only ones that exist
Did you even read the title of this thread you keep responding to?
The whole league idea is just bad
This pretty much sums up the issue entirely. A league being made from a bunch of unbalanced servers where population/coverage is the key factor for success is just a bad idea.
This is a competition you want to lose. The winner gets to be stomped for 7 weeks straight in what will be the least competitive matches in season 1. Why would anybody want that when they will get their closest chance to a balanced match in silver league?
Because there is no balanced match in silver league, rather be getting stomped in gold then bored in silver.
No balanced matches? One of the closest matches is in silver league right now. IoJ, BP, and CD are duking it out during primetime and all are pretty much evenly matched. I will admit our oceanics do a lot of ppt work for us and extend our lead but during the day its a crap shoot for who is better imo. But hey, that’s just me from IoJ.
Sorry, I didn’t realize I had to spoon feed you the obvious. The thread is talking about those trying to fight for the last spot in gold.
Still with me?
For those trying to fight for the last spot in gold there are no balanced match-ups.
Still there?
I concede that SBI with all of its transfer monkeys is an unknown at this point.
Holy kitten. Thanks for clearing that up /s. Obviously I didn’t realize what you meant. I mean, here I was thinking you were saying all of silver league was an unbalanced matchup. My mistake. Though from the posting of people in Maguuma we down here in Silver League are obviously unskilled players. Imma go tell people like BS, NA, HARD, and all them folks they better not even try against guilds in higher tiers.
I never mentioned skill and I haven’t seen a post in this thread that refers to it as skill. Everyone knows it is about population and coverage, nothing else, or do I need to spoon feed you that as well?
Three servers work, but only if players let it. Unfortunately in GW2 many players are stupid and added a big stigma to double teaming, so instead of it letting three servers work to our advantage we enjoyed many unnecessary blow outs.
As Dee Jay pointed out the score system is also a problem, but given it didn’t improve when most of the sub tiers stopped caring about PPT I still lean towards the players are stupid view.

Warrior has likely the best mobility in the game, along with better damage.
Since the reset on Friday I have not been able to enter EB despite various attempts throughout the weekend. I’ve tried at different times, requeued every 15-20mins, different toons, but nothing worked. I would generally log out after 90-120 min waits, when I would run out of things to do while waiting. I fail to understand why after buying a product you are unable to actually use it. Is anyone else as frustrated with this issue as I am. And please refrain from providing the usual mindless answer of “change servers”. After being on this server for close to a year now I would rather avoid leaving my guild and friends for something that shouldn’t be such a problem. What are we going to experience once the leagues begin??? I’ve begun to notice that more and more toons are left in EB afk but running in place to avoid having to queue again. This appears to be to only solution since Anet is unable to address this issue.
I really don’t expect any answers but had to vent my frustrations at being incapable of participating in the only aspect of this game I enjoy. I tried to get an answer directly from Anet but was told to post my problem in the forum. So I guess that if I run into a problem with my car I should avoid going to the dealer and simply try to get an answer on Facebook or Twitter.
Maybe your server mates shouldn’t have spent all that gold bring more people to your already over populated server. I feel bad for you, tragic really.
SoS played horribly against Maguuma when we fount them the other week.
We are try-harding now, so bring your a-game.
#magswag
And we still beat you by 76k ponts, we also got 2 new NA guilds from then aswell.
So now you have 3 NA guilds?
I hope we do not fight SoS, because it is so bloody boring.
(edited by Niim.9260)
I really wish people wud stop moaning to anet about the wvw problems. Its the players themselves who fairweathered into the top tier anet did not force this apon anyone. Both tier misbalance and skill lag are both due to players not playing the game the way it was intended to be played . The players only have themselves to blame theyve stacked the top 2 tiers encouraged guilds to migrate hence players themselves have caused the problems with wvw now ur all crying foul to anet. This problem exists because most of you are fairweathers who pay to win i dont feel sorry for any of you at all suck it up fairweathers suck up the fact youve killed wvw cause your game basicly sucks.
ANET’s approach to transfers and an entire lack of attention to the coverage issues where there is only enough off hour populations to keep several servers competitive is what created the problem. Players were forced into two groups: 1) transfer to where playing for PPT makes sense, ie top tier or 2) ignore PPT entirely and enjoy the game where you are at.
ANET created the situation, players just adjusted based on which option they were forced to choose.
Roaming 8 mans like in DAoC better fits WvW than GvG does and contributes more, but because this is GW2 they are emulating game play, sorta, from GW1.
Since DB NA is dead can i complain about zergs now?
No! Once a zerglet always a zerglet!
as i already stated in another topic…GvGers are a waste of spots and only in the way on the battlefield, so absolutely yes give them an instance / open pvp area far away from real WvW players.
Hi zerglet.
