I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Celestial Signet: Passive adds 15 to all stats and +3% critical damage. Active triggers gigantic AoE blue-white fireblast – 1,200 range (max 10 targets). Applies 1 second of fear & 12 seconds of burning.
Do other professions have elite ones?
Warriors do.
I do like the summon all the spirit weapons as an elite. A lot. Might not be the activated use of a signet, but its a very flavorful idea.
Actually, making the current Renewed Focus effect the activated ability of a Signet, and giving it a very minor passive ability would create some fantastic synergies. Having a big ol’ ‘Signet symbol’ pop over your head to telegraph that you are now invulnerable for the next few seconds would be a pretty good tradeoff for whatever the minor benefit that would be added.
You mean, in the near future when they add 100 more crafting levels.
That update is coming within the years end, but it’s not this patch.
Actually, new rune and sigil recipes ARE part of this week’s patch.
Many sigils and runes without recipes appear to be getting recipes as part of the rewards for the next Living Story release. You may be able to craft them later this week.
I was working on Infinite Light, but that’s on hold while I wait for the Charged core/lodestone market to crash later this week .
The TP prices will always be significantly cheaper than the average cost of buying chests to get scraps.
That statement makes no sense to me. You expect to pay less for the sure thing? What’s more you expect people to sell you a sure thing for less than it cost them to acquire?
3 million accounts means the HAS TO BE at 3 accounts that are 1-in-a-million levels of lucky .
Its not coding goofs, its math.
I do take note when a fractal weapons goes by. Not crazy difficult, but it tells me something about the owner’s accomplishments. And some of the fractal set are genuinely cool looking.
I’m only impressed by legendaries when they actually look good with the rest of the character’s appearance… which ain’t often. I simply do not believe a meaningful percentage of the ones I see (constantly) represent personally going out and farming the t6 mats, or the lodestone for the gifts. There is just too many grindy as all hades components you can buy your way past. it’s not the player’s fault – ANet just created a giant gold sink and said “aren’t you impressed with the all-aspect mastery required?”. No, no I am not.
I’ve got most of the hard stuff done to build my own including the precursor… but I’m waiting on assembly to see what the next wave looks like on the off chance some of then actually appeal to me .
Thank goodness the actual cost is only about 1.5% of what the OP thought it was.
Almost certainly – and for limited times when it happens. Think 3-day sale. Maybe 7 days.
The real question is will they look the same as the current tools when it happens? We might see some other theme of FX on the next round.
My progress has basically stopped.
The time I have to play is usually taken up in dailies instead of grinding out tier 6 mats (coming up on 7k achievement points). Along with the devs hinting there’s a new wave of Legendaries coming (some of which I can only hope will actually look good to me), I’ve been just sitting on the progress I’ve made rather than maybe finishing it (I have The Bard and most mats other than the T6s) and being back to square 0 when the new ones arrive.
Since the only thing that pushes the price down is people converting gems to gold, and the biggest reason to do that is frustration at not being able to advance via normal play, I’d say every step they take to provide attractive rewards for play also quietly pushes gem prices up.
First of all we’re talking MMOs, not single player games. And when this was made, there was no MMO that gave you a PERSONAL story.
Weird… its like that entire year I was playing Star Wars: The Old Republic before GW2 came out never happened. And I’m sure Bioware hadn’t been blathering about it for 5 years prior to that.
You all realize the cheaper waypoints is for 4 weeks, right? It’s not a permanent discount.
The BL keys are on sale for 4 weeks, but at least they don’t evaporate afterwards if you opt to stock up a little.
Which is funny, since the champion loot bags could NUKE the yellow crafting mats market.
So, developers moved the gold award from bosses at the end of the dungeon.
How does that influence skipping one way or the other?
The situation hasn’t changed other than reducing the incentive to repeat the same path on the same day.
Why so much QQ ??
Biological reflex I think.
More like greedy dishonest businessman or hard-working law enforcement officer.
We’re not voting for police chief – we’re putting someone into a council of PIRATE LORDS.
A LEO is gonna be like a fish out of water in that crowd. Evon would get some actual traction in his dealings.
Tuesday.
I’m pretty confident that at least the crafting mat rewards will be level appropriate to the champion defeated .
Huh. Because I ran a character down to 0 coin in hand and popped around freely – no block on moving, no comment it would come out of my bank. It may have been coming out of my bank, but it certainly didn’t mention it.
Actually, I find the “Support Reminders” or whatever the bags that are dropping out on the landscape are called to be a clear move towards promoting wealth for typical players. They drop off mobs not infrequently and have around 2 silver in them per bag. I’ve EASILY amassed a gold in the background while puttering in low-to-mid level zones leveling up alts.
Is it as fast as dungeon running? Hell no. But it is slightly closing the gap for lower level characters just “playing the game” vs. repeating one shoddily designed activity over and over…
I like to think of all of this as a vote against facebook .
Sorry mate, but getting 50g is not getting showered with gold.
For players that normally keep less than 10g on hand, I’d definitely describe 50g as moderate precipitation .
Ug. Do not want.
If I have to micro-manage my stock that closely, I’m gonna vendor it, not post it. Prices will go down, right up to the moment where supply abruptly ceases to exist.
You will definitely post it on the TP if the profit is there to be had — don’t kid yourself. You’ll vendor items that were vendor trash to begin with.
I’m NOT kidding myself – I’ve played with limited listing times on nearly a dozen other MMOs at this point and the result is always the same – after losing my listing fees a few times on items being crafted for miniscule profit (in games where crafting actually takes some effort…) and it becomes clear that I’m wasting my time even trying to provide reasonably priced stock. The window for buyer and seller to connect simply closes too quickly.
It RAPIDLY exceeds my patience for a part of the game I consider pretty dang tertiary to begin with. I’ve greatly enjoyed this game’s approach where I can simply ignore failed offerings until the fluctuating tide eventually comes back around and someone wants my stock.
Mystic coins are Laurels – but they are tradable, which proved to be a huge mistake.
Now they are just a vestigial currency.
If only laurels were tradable lol. Id be fine paying a few gold for 1 if it meant not having to wait a full month just to get 1 piece of ascended gear
And there in lies the problem laurels FIX.
People were selling the most valuable resource in the game – TIME – for pennies. Now, if you don’t spend your accrued time on yourself, at least you don’t hand it on for a pittance. Buying time is great if you’re a savvy trader, and a pain in the buttocks if you’re a game designer .
There is one case where it scales – its free if that character has no coin in hand.
Something that will effectively go away once all characters share a single wallet, I suppose…

People with lots of achievement points have been showered with gold lately. Maybe a few went on buying sprees.
Batman wishes engineers had more stealth.

I’ve heard rumblings that all the crafted ascended gear (armor, weapons, whatever) will probably be account-bound, which is pretty lame. I’m really getting sick and tired of account-bound items. Everything should be able to be sold/traded to other players if not yet equipped by your character.
I REALLY don’t agree that everything in the game needs to be tradable for coin – which creates the situation where CoF farmers/TP warriors are entitled to every reward in the game at the fastest possible rates.
Interlinking everything makes everything dependent on the weakest link.
Hang on to it. The bank UI is obviously designed to allow up to 10 slots, so they may up the limit at some point. Hopefully your item will activate normally then.
Still, putting an actual ticket into Support asking if you can have it returned/refunded might be a good way to pass the time…
Looks like a polearm.
One is in the database (based on it’s look it’s obviously an order of whispers cultural weapon),and the Lionguard polearm is in game – you can see it in Rytlock’s office in the Black Citadel.
Might just be assets they had laying around or it might be we’ll finally see a new weapon rolled out…
Even with the slow start and some weak characterization for the refugees I feel like the Frost and Flame arc did a lot better at grabbing and holding my attention over time. It built to an actual climax and it got there through tangible escalation. Its not that we now have festivals and mini-games in every direction, its that the ‘living story’ has devolved into ‘short attention-span theater’.
With four team presenting in rotation I question whether its even POSSIBLE to release something substantial… since every team gets interrupted 3 times over before they can raise the curtain on their next act.
Increased consumable DURATION would be a lot more manageable…
And why would anyone sell their stuff for less money than the regular market offers?
If you don’t understand the disgust some people have for flippers, then naturally this will seem a little strange.
Is your idea based on the expectation that people will do that to be nice to each other? There are several political and economic models that tried that approach, and it didn’t exactly work very well.
Its not the expectation – its merely giving us the OPTION to sell items in a direct to user only fashion. Its purely optional on both the buying and selling side.
If people are nothing but rational economic actors, the check boxes will never get clicked. We both know better of course. Some people WILL choose to sell for less under those terms, and any end user WILL check to see if its available for less that way, and any flipper WILL feel the pressure of transactions going on without their taking a cut.
The thread title is about limiting TP profits. A ‘to a good home’ option will do that by allowing the market to find its own natural medium, minus those suppliers who don’t like being the serfs in the field for their trading overlords .
I have a profit limiting scheme, but it’s entirely voluntary – I just need the game to provide the tools…
TO A GOOD HOME
Add a check box when posting items that indicate the item must be sold to “a good home”: when purchased via TP this item becomes account bound. For items that stack it is place in a separate stack that include only similar account bound items.
When buying via TP a check box allows ‘to a good home’ items to be filtered out (actually I expect the default would be to filter them out, and the check to opt in to see them). This way customers are less likely to accidentally buy something they cannot re-sell/flip.
People selling in ‘to a good home’ mode should expect to get less money for their items – after all, the only people who can buy them are people who intend to actually use them. But they also get the knowledge that their goods are not being juggled for profit. For buyers who intend to use the item it creates a parallel market with lower price and a direct from initial seller relationship.
For flippers it moves a percentage of their victims- er, market into a parallel track. Then we find out if the people actually harvesting/getting the initial drop really care about the so called “service” of arbitrage… Do they want to sell fast to arbitrage liquidity, or slower to people who will use what they are buying?
The shared wallet just makes it more important to have at least on character with the karmic infusion on an ascended necklace – to do the liquid karma drinking for your entire account .
Do these armor skins act like the Zenith skins where once you receive them you can put them on any character or are they like the previous armor skins?
No.
The rare/yellow mats have been mentioned as drops from the new champion bags… Given the champion farming in Queensdale, I expect to see champions getting mauled all over the world with that for added incentive. I anticipate the market for lodes will sink noticeably.
Account Magic Find
We want to remove the choice players are currently being forced to make on their gear: “Do I go with better stats, or better loot?” This isn’t in the spirit of cooperation that Guild Wars 2 is all about. As such, we’ll be removing magic find entirely as an item stat and turning it into account stat that improved the odds of rare drops for all your characters.
You can improve your account magic find through the account achievement reward system and from consumable items found in game. As your magic find increases, it will require more consumables to keep raising it higher. In the near future, we’ll detail the system we’ll use to replace the existing magic find items. Our goal will be to have as little disruption as possible to those who currently own items with a magic find stat on them.
Having all existing items suddenly be half as potent as they should be due to a missing primary stat would be pretty disruptive by any standard. They could just swap them all to an existing stat, but even that is poor compensation. My thinking was they’d like to maintain continuity of names for gear and runes/sigils, so if they do some sort of stat swap, it’ll appeal to the current naming convents.
Its mostly for siege stuff . But it would help group things for when I’m looking to do a pre-encounter buff-up.
I had two Canthan mules before. I demand Cantha so I can make new ones!
I support this plan!
Asura mules take up less space and are just as hardy!
They replace MF with some other benefit so the items are still appropriately powerful for their level/grade/slot.
We just haven’t been told what the replacement effect is. With names like wayfarer and travel on the gear that provides it, I’m actually hoping for some sort of mobility buff, but a %-reduction in the duration of crowd control is a hot mechanic lately and also fits the naming scheme…
I’ve tried T4 in solo, small groups, full groups, just shooting plunderers, killing every kitten thing in sight and all variations in between.
Its NOT fun. I’m getting far more achievement points for my time picking off extra daily tasks than I’d ever recoup continuing to futz with this thing.
The WP could be discounted to FREE and it still wouldn’t be important since we’re talking 4 WEEKS. That’s nothing in the time this game has been around already, and in the time I expect to be playing it its less than nothing.
The keys… I’m not excited over them, but at least if I stock up on over a month long sale they won’t vanish at the end of the month…
Its not even a particularly good chance in my experience. less than 20% of getting a rare. Possibly much less.
It happens occasionally. Contact a big guild on your server and see if they do a “karka queen day” or something similar.
Unfortunately while you should be able to check if the Southsun towns are flipped form anywhere in the world just by glancing at the way points on the map (and mapping very QUICKLY to a merchant site to cut a deal), but they don’t seem to update correctly like the Orr temples.
